Fantastic experience: Dr. Bear and his staff are so sweet and so caring. My 2 year old did not fuss at all and let them do the exams and brushing that they needed to do. Dr. Bear was knowledgeable and thorough answering our questions! Will continue to see him.

Fantastic experience: We took our 2 year and 6 month old son to Bear Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics, and we had such a wonderful experience! From the moment we walked in, the staff was warm, welcoming, and very patient with our little one. Dr. Bear is incredibly professional, gentle, and knowledgeable. He made our son feel comfortable and at ease throughout the appointment, which means so much to us as parents. Everything was explained clearly, and we felt very confident in the care provided. Negative experience: I’ve spent just under $30,000 at this practice. We started coming here several years ago, just a few months after this office opened. Dr. Bear is a good person and skilled at what he does. Dr. Wang, his wife, is the orthodontist and is friendly and competent at placing braces. Newer orthodontic approaches like self-ligating systems were never presented to us as options, so expect a more traditional, old-school approach to teeth straightening. The facilities are clean, and movies are always playing for the kids, which is expected in almost any business built around the needs of children. The other staff, on the other hand, are so inept that it is becoming unbearable to go there. They've gotten worse, each time we go, it seems. When we walked in today, we were met with, “Who are we checking in?” followed quickly by, “I’ll go ahead and take your payment now.” I'll go ahead and take your money now?? Lol ... seriously? How about, "And how would you like to pay this morning?" My daughter was never greeted. Neither was I ... After forking over the money, I asked the ladies behind the counter which dental savings or insurance plans the business accepts. I wanted to avoid committing to a plan they would not honor, so I was curious. Wow. The reaction was as if I'd asked for their mother’s maiden name and the password to their phones. They looked at each other as though this was a question they had never heard before. I decided to prompt their memories. "Do you take Cigna, Aetna, iDental?" What followed was a long series of "Um … um … um ... what was the first one? Um ... we don’t have a list … I don't know who we accept… there was one once ... um ... um ... I think?” Apparently, this information could not be looked up, and the final answer was, “I’d have to call some insurance coordinators ...” During the appointment, expect an up-charge (at least one, but probably more). It happens every time I go. These added expenses are never communicated when you book the appointment. Two stars for the dentist. Three stars deducted for the three office staff I interacted with. Two from the front desk, and the third one who added charges that weren't communicated to me when I initially booked the appointment. I hate bait and hook approaches to business. In my opinion, these staff members need to find work they are actually passionate about or get better ongoing training. This is not complicated. Smile. Greet the child (this is a pediatric practice). Acknowledge and appreciate the parent who is about to spend a substantial amount of money. Be helpful when people ask how to save money since keeping loyal customers is better than sending them to one of the more than 300 competitors in just Frisco and McKinney, alone. Always acknowledge repeat customers with something as simple as, “It’s nice to see you again,” or to the child, “Wow, you’ve grown since the last time you were here.” Customer service matters, especially when families are making a long-term financial investment.

Negative experience: My family was referred to Bear Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics by another dental office in McKinney. When we arrived, the staff was friendly and welcoming. After being brought back to the chair, we waited about a half hour before a short, roughly five-minute visit with Dr. Bear. After that brief conversation, we were promptly presented with a quote in excess of $5,000. The cost itself wasn’t entirely unexpected. We understand McKinney is a well-off area and prices reflect that. What stood out, however, was that the estimate we received was partly photocopied and partly handwritten, which felt surprising given the cost and the times we live in. What was also disappointing was that while they were willing to ask for a deposit on the spot, there was no follow-up after the appointment. At this price point, a high-end experience should include proactive communication — something many local competitors do provide. I later reached out myself and inquired about a possible discount but never received a response. For me, that lack of follow-through suggested our situation and my son’s treatment were not a priority, which ultimately influenced our decision not to move forward. McKinney has no shortage of pediatric dental practices at similar price levels. Families who value timely communication and follow-up from costly medical professionals may want to compare options before committing.

Fantastic experience: Customer service is good. They texted me even before the office was opened. Receptionist, dental hygeniest, and ortho dr. Wang, they are all good. Took care of my daugther's issue.

Fantastic experience: Prior to going to Dr Bear, we had been to 2 different dentist and the experiences were not quite pleasant. Our visit at Bear was really great. He and the entire staff were patient with my little girl and made the entire experience great. He had a very wholesome diagnostic and treatment approach and the procedure itself was successful beyond my expectations. He carried us along all through, and engaged with my daughter during the procedure too. I really want to appreciate the great work!

My daughter's retainer started bothering her after some permanent teeth surfaced and they were able to adjust it the next morning.

Fantastic experience: Dr Dennis is GREAT and an HONEST man. He advised that my daughter cavities can be reversed and I never knew that until this day. Disclaimer it also depends on the severity of your cavities and my daughter cavities were not that bad. He prescribed a toothpaste for her and a follow up appointment for 6 months to see if the cavities improved. This is my daughter new dentist now- The office was clean and staff was nice and professional. Thank you everyone :-)

He is excellent and we are thankful to him. The copay charges are minimal. I recommend DrBear for dental checkup for the kids of my friends and neighbors.

On the day of the surgery, they took such good care of my girl. The procedure was so quick and smooth. We latched afterwards and it immediately felt better. They also made sure we knew exactly how to do the stretches to ensure proper healing. We enjoyed our experience so much that we’re switching our 7 year old to Dr. Bear! Thank you Dr. Bear!!!

Fantastic experience: Our own pediatric dentist recommended seeing an oral surgeon for our 12 year old autistic son to have a decaying tooth pulled that was also infected in the socket. After consulting with one and realizing they would not do it without full IV sedation I was directed by a friend to Dr Bear. How impressed I was that he was able to discern very quickly that my brave boy who suffers well could tolerate his tooth being pulled with a simple local anaesthetic. He saved us $850-1,000 in out of pocket anesthesia expenses and offered to do it right there and then to save us making the 40 min drive back on a later date. Dr Bear you have just gained a new client. Thank you to you and your wonderful staff for empowering my son!!

Dr. Bear is extremely knowledgeable about tongue and lip ties, and he takes the time to explain everything and address my questions. Fixing a tongue tie can help with breastfeeding, sleep quality, speech, cavity prevention and so much more. If I have another child, I will make an appointment much sooner next time to get evaluated for a tongue tie! Now that my daughter is almost 3, she regularly asks to go back and see Dr. Bear. I have a newborn that was having difficulty breastfeeding and after seeking help from lactation and pediatrician we decided to get an oral evaluation to make sure we were covering all our options. Dr. Bear was very thorough explaining what he saw and how it could or couldn’t be affecting the feeds. I felt like I learned more from him than anyone else we saw when dealing with these issues. We felt confident when making the decision to get the procedure done and it has greatly improved the feedings and my sanity. Thankful for his knowledge and experience!!

Fantastic experience: My son (10yo) is magical with sprinkles. He is also on the spectrum and has ADHD and Swallow Dysfunction Disorder. Teeth, people in his mouth, cleaning, bright lights, loud noises and vibrations are NOT his thing at all. Parking was easy and plentiful. The waiting room was small but there was seating, and there was zero waiting time before they called us in. The facility is light, bright and clean. We didn't use the bathroom, but I bet they're just as lovely as everthing else there. The staff were unbelievably thorough and kind. We had a special spectrummy hour-long appointment, which meant there was no rush, and we travelled aa tht epace my son was happy to. The paperwork (6 forms) are worth filing in and really helped the staff short cut to all the cheats for my son. All the team members we interacted with were smiling, happy and truly marvellously made my boy comfortable there. My boy had his teeth cleaned, had an xray and was chilling on the seat when he met Dr Bear, who was patient and thorough, kind and considerate and listened to my concerns and communicated the answers I needed my son to hear, without me having to ask Dr Bear to "tell" my son. My sweet boy coped well with the water cleaning pick and was even given a mirror to hold so he could watch. He was superbly excited to see his wonderfully clean teeth, and had a completely magnificent experience at Bear Pediatric Dentistry. We will be back and will bring all the rest of the children to join in the fun. I do not hesitate in recommending this facility and the whole lovely bunch of staff there, especially if you too have an extra sprinkle or neuro-spicy child.

Fantastic experience: If you have children and live nearby don't look anywhere else for a pediatric dentist. Dr. Bear is hands down the best pediatric dentist that we have ever come across thus far. As long as we are in the pediatric stage of dentistry with our kiddos, this is where we will go. Hands down the best!

Fantastic experience: Drs. Bear & Wang are amazing! They were kind and provided a lot of helpful information during my grandson’s dental exams. The visit was seamless and the boys felt comfortable. They were able to get dental cleanings and orthodontic consults in a timely manner. I’m extremely grateful to have such a great dental team caring for my grandsons!

Fantastic experience: The staff are attentive. There is ease with scheduling appointments for "emergency" situations. My son had a great experience getting his braces. He has completed his treatment and I am please with the outcome. They did a great job!

Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend Bear PD enough. For starters everyone is super kind and courteous. Dr Bear and his staff are amazing with kids.I was super nervous about a procedure my son had to go through but Dr Bear did it like a dream. Everything was super smooth and quick. I am one happy and satisfied parent and will never take my kids anywhere else.

Fantastic experience: This was such a comforting experience, Having a kiddo who’s scared of the dentist is so hard but Dr.Bear and his staff made my little one feel so much better. Savannah did such a good job comforting my little one and making him feel comftorable and she had great communication with him so he was aware of everything that was going on! Fantastic experience: The whole practice was very nice and the associates are extremely friendly. Meeting with Dr.Bear was very rewarding as he is really knowledgeable regarding children with disabilities so we felt like our son was really being taken care of. Couldn’t recommend him more.

Fantastic experience: We love Dr. Bear and his entire staff! The staff is always kind and efficient. Dr. Bear has been incredible to work with. Never feel rushed here. The Orthodontist department there is amazing as well! Highly recommend this office! We genuinely care.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Bear is kind and gentle and even though his patients are children he keeps them informed on what he is doing every step of the way allowing them to feel confident in a situation that might be scary! My daughter had a tooth extracted and he was kind, caring and comforting during the entire procedure. His entire staff is the same way, they care about their patients and their parents and go above and beyond.

Fantastic experience: We had such a great experience visiting with Dr Bear. This was my son’s first trip to the dentist and it was great to see a dentist and his entire staff have a heart for kiddos with special needs. We have found our dentist! It’s such a relief to know that my son is in such great hands!! After our 2nd visit to Dr Bear I continue to be impressed!! What a wonderful, caring Dr and Staff! I am SO SOLD!! Fantastic experience: If you want a caring dental office, then look no further! From the front desk check in, all the way up to Dr. Bear is the friendliest staff! My daughter was terrified to go her first visit and Dr. Bear was so great and caring with her every step of the way. My daughter now does amazing at her appointments and feels safe and comfortable! HIGHLY recommend! :)

Fantastic experience: It was my daughters first dentist appointment and she usually doesn't do well with strangers so I was very concerned. To my surprise everything went fantastic! The lady who cleaned my girls teeth was very gentle and calm, and she made sure to make my daughter comfortable. The dentist was absolutely amazing! He made sure she was comfortable and explained it all to her, and gave me so much information. I'm very pleased with my experience.
