While admittedly apprehensive to having her teeth checked/cleaned, my two year old genuinely seemed to enjoy all other aspects of the visit and was in a great mood the rest of the day. Negative experience: Pediatric Dentistry of Reston I hope you’re well. I wanted to reach out to share some honest feedback about a recent visit to your office, as it was an incredibly difficult experience for me emotionally and physically. From the start of the appointment, I was feeling very anxious and panicked. Although the procedure was explained, I was already overwhelmed and scared. What made things worse was that, while I was sitting in the chair trying to hold myself together, I overheard staff members speaking negatively about my doctor. The comments were inappropriate, unprofessional, and really unsettling to hear in such a vulnerable moment. When the procedure began, I was not emotionally prepared — and the way my tooth was suddenly and forcefully wiggled caught me off guard. It was painful, and I instinctively screamed. I wasn’t being dramatic — I was genuinely in pain, and I felt terrified. I began to cry, but even then, I didn’t feel that anyone in the room took a moment to comfort me or acknowledge what I was going through. That combination — the pain, the panic, the gossip, and the lack of empathy — left me feeling completely overwhelmed and, honestly, dismissed. I left the appointment shaken and embarrassed, and I’ve been thinking about it ever since. I’m not writing this to place blame, but to offer a perspective that I hope you’ll take to heart. For patients who are clearly anxious, especially those experiencing discomfort, empathy matters so much. A moment of reassurance or a pause to check in would have made a world of difference. Fantastic experience: This was my son’s first visit at Pediatric Dentistry of Reston. I was impressed with the overall attention, communication and service - from the front desk check in, his dental cleaning, check up by the lead dentist to visit check out. I really like that orthodontic visits are also on the same location, no need to go anywhere else, very convenient. My son said the dental hygienist was really nice so she gets his two thumbs up. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: This was the BEST first dentist appointment I could ever imagine. From the moment we walked in, all I could see were smiling kids. I actually saw one childs face light up when her name got called to go back. The atmosphere is calm but fun and everything was so clean. During my 18 month olds appointment, we were walked through everything that would happen with the dentist and were able to ask all of our questions. When the dentist came in, she was so quick (in a good way!) and didn't rush any questions afterwards. Everyone here is so kind and wants to help! At the end of the visit, they gave us a photo certificate, a rubber ducky, a goody bag and a balloon! Safe to say we loved our experience and would recommend this dentist to anyone looking for a pediatric dentist for their toddler.

Positive experience: This was my daughter’s first time at the dentist and she was scared and cried the entire time. I know that isn’t unusual, but there are things the dentist could have done better to make the experience less stressful. Walking into the treatment room, the associate immediately greeted my daughter with high energy, elevated voice, various questions, turned on Bluey at elevated volume, and was attempting to take a picture of her with a tablet- it was full speed in your face overstimulation. My daughter shut down. I was not asked if it was ok to have her picture taken or given an explanation beforehand as to why. My daughter refused to look at the associate yet she continued trying to take a picture, even coming back a second time to try again as my daughter was hiding in my arms crying. When I asked if it was required, the associate said no and put the tablet away. I feel the associate had trouble reading the situation and didn’t know when to stop asking her questions or when to give space when she was crying. Twice the associate continued talking and questioning her to the point where I had to ask her to please give us a minute and come back, a couple times.. Through the entire session there was constant background noise from the tv running Bluey, the associate talking instead of waiting for her to calm down, and items being offered to her to distract her from the situation. It was simply too overwhelming for her first time being there.

It’s a conservative practice, which in my opinion is key when it comes to getting treatment done on baby teeth. They don’t just jump in and start drilling, they ask you to come back, they educate you and keep an eye out for the tooth. If treatment is necessary, then it is probably necessary. She had a cleaning that included scaling, polishing, and a fluoride treatment, and the doctor and hygienist were both wonderful with babies.

He needed 8 feelings which she took care of them in one session while he was put to sleep. Been under her care since then and everything is great.

Fantastic experience: Per my daughter: The nail polish job is messy. And scratched my gums when the used the pick thing. Honestly that’s not a bad review from an 8 year old, especially considering she had lots of plaque from not consistently flossing… LOL We will keep coming as they’re taking great care of our girls.

Fantastic experience: My son has special needs and the dentist we had been seeing was not very nice to him or accommodating. Because of this he hated going to the dentist. I vowed to do better for my son. So I did a lot of research and found Dr. Kalantar. It's been over 9 years and all I can say is she is the most patient, kind and caring dentist. I cannot speak more highly of her and her staff. They put kids first. I'm loathe to say how fabulous they are because then she'll be so busy, but it would be a shame to not share this wonderful woman and her staff with other families. We Love you Dr. Kalantar!!!!!!!!

I work in the medical field and as a mom of 3 who moved every 2 yrs in the last 16 years and in every new location I like to try a few doctors in every field before sticking to one we like and we are very picky. We have even moved from Reston but def kept going to dr Neda as she is amazing with kids, very knowledgable, professional and very very kind. 3 traits that are very difficult to find nowadays. My kids want to visit the dentist everyday. They even ask me when will the next appointment be the minute we leave the office. Everyone that works at this office is really nice and accommodating. I do-not like recommending a Dr or a dentist before spending atleast 2 years using the office. I highly recommend pediatric dentistry of Reston and will continue to come here as long as we can

My boys, prior to their most recent appointment, said things like, “It’s going to be the best day ever. I love going to the dentist!” Love, love, love this place! My son told my husband that night after his appointment, “Dad, I got to go to the dentist today.” That pretty much says it all.

Fantastic experience: Just took our 18 month old daughter for her first dental visit. Everyone was so incredibly nice and friendly, making her feel as comfortable as possible. They took such care to make the first exam not scary and had Cocomellon on the ceiling tv to keep her occupied. They clearly know what they’re doing with toddlers and I’m very glad I selected this practice to treat her.

They make the dreaded dentist experience fun My 10 year old had to have a more complex procedure a few months ago but Dr. Neda and her team were amazing and we left that appointment with no anxiety or negative feelings about going back. After recent cleanings, my 5 and 10 year old claimed they love the dentist! As a mom (who personally is not a fan of going to the dentist) it makes taking the kids to the dentist completely stress free! Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: I have a 2 year old and 5 year old. We’ve been coming here since my 5 year old was 3. I can’t really say enough good things about Dr. Neda and her staff. The office is sparkling clean, yet somehow cozy and inviting. A safari theme throughout with lots of stuffed animals and figurines. Plenty of entertainment , movies, iPads and complimentary water and coffee! The front desk staff are warm and friendly and super helpful and responsive. They’ve helped me sort out insurance issues and are great with follow up and call backs. The hygienists are all super friendly and warm and amazingly patient with kids. Coming for a cleaning doesn’t feel like a dreaded dentist visit, my kids actually look forward to going to the dentist now and get excited when I tell them they have appointments. My neighbor recommended Pediatric Dentistry of Reston to me a few years ago and told me her kids would get super excited to go to the dentist and I looked at her like she was crazy but I totally get it now. We’ve seen Dr. Neda mostly but we’ve also seen Dr. Sana. Both are outstanding. Excellent with kids, warm, friendly, calm, understanding and super hip to whatever vibes my kids are putting out. They never ever force or push my kids to do anything they’re not comfortable with and I noticed with the younger kids (2 and 3 years) they make sure to keep the visits super short and sweet to get them used to the dentist. I’ve been super happy with the treatment plans we’ve done with my daughters cavities and today she had her very first filling with laughing gas and didn’t cry at all. We came once for an emergency appt and Dr Sana expertly removed a super long and sharp popcorn kernel that had lodged way up and out of visible sight in my daughters gum. She didn’t even cry. Dr . Sana was so gentle and good about explaining what she was going to do and it made my daughter able to be calm. My kids favorite part of it all though is getting a coin at the end of the appointment to use in the toy machine they have. Today my daughter got two coins because she had a procedure and she was so excited. I even noticed middle school age kids using the toy machine. There is just something about it that is so fun. I would never take them anywhere else. The dentist does not have to be scary , boring or painful. This place proves that in all ways!
