Negative experience: This was the worst dental experience I have ever had. I had the same tooth treated multiple times through follow-up visits, yet the original issue was never resolved. Despite the lack of a successful outcome, I was repeatedly billed for each visit. I was also very disappointed with the billing practices. Before an X-ray was taken, I specifically told the office not to proceed unless my insurance would cover it. I was assured that it would be covered, but I was later charged approximately $400 for the X-ray. The quality of care, communication, and overall experience were extremely disappointing. I expected professional treatment, honest communication about costs, and a resolution to my dental issue—not repeated visits and unexpected charges. I would not recommend this dental office based on my experience.

Under new management now, and I'm really glad I decided to give it another chance. From the moment I walked in, everyone I interacted with was friendly and professional. The location is great - right in my neighborhood - and there's ample parking nearby, which is a nice bonus. The exam and cleaning itself was, hands down, the best I've had in a lifetime of dental visits. The hygienist was thorough and skilled. The lead dentist gave clear, sensible recommendations for next steps, and - unlike my past experience - there was zero sales pressure. Just honest, straightforward care. Really happy I returned. Highly recommend if you had a similar experience in the past and have been hesitant to go back.

Negative experience: Terrible billing experience. My personal records were sent to a third party agency for a bill I was never informed of. Finding dates and details of the bill felt like a wild goose chase. Not to mention, it was for a service from 2 years ago. Absolutely dishonest people and I 100% expect it to happen to others. Avoid at all costs. Plus I was unhappy with my Invisalign results, even after telling the doctor my concerns during the process.

Fantastic experience: My hygienist Marzia, did a great job in evaluating my teeth, offering great tips and doing a deep clean.Have been visiting since March of 2023 and my experience has been wonderful so far with super friendly Staff and services! Overall, it's a great dental clinic and would totally recommend!!

Negative experience: Awful experience. Had crowns put in and wasn't warned that I wouldn't be able to eat normally for two weeks before they started. It's been 4 weeks since and my mouth still isn't normal. Oh, and they still owe me $1,000 that they still haven't refunded. Thinking of taking them to court. They are an awful practice. You've been warned!

Being invited into a private consultation room at the end of my appointment further elevated my experience and showed how much the doctor cares about patient privacy and comfort. I’ve honestly never had a dentist who was this caring and attentive. What impressed me the most was how painless everything was. Even the numbing injections were practically painless, which was something I had never experienced before. Negative experience: My first appointment at this Reston practice was in July. The office failed to submit my insurance claim, failed to communicate with me about any issue, and failed to notify me that I had an outstanding balance. During that time, I returned for follow-up care and multiple members of my family were seen by the practice, yet no one mentioned a billing problem. To make matters worse, Dr. Riaz Rayek sold the practice in April without any communication to patients that ownership had changed. Neither Dr. Rayek nor the new owners took responsibility for ensuring patient accounts were handled properly during the transition. Instead of making a phone call, sending a letter, or attempting to resolve the issue, I was sent directly to collections. I only learned there was a problem after the damage was already done. Now I am left dealing with collection fees and a negative mark on my credit because of their failure to properly manage billing and patient communication. This situation reflects extremely poor business practices and a complete lack of customer service from both Dr. Rayek and the new ownership. Patients should be aware that administrative mistakes can become your problem, even when you’ve had multiple interactions with the practice and were never informed of any outstanding balance. If this is how patient accounts are handled, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere for dental care.

Negative experience: After the new owner took over this place is so disorganized and incompetent. They wrecked my teeth and I ended up having to go to a different dentist to get them repaired. Broken fillings, improper fitting crowns. Several trips back with no resolution. Do not go here. They just want your money and charge you for things you do not need.

This place is more advanced in terms of technology they are using for dental care than other places I've been to. I always enjoy seeing Roya and Dr. Mahdokht as they truly care. Fantastic experience: 2026- updates review- today I went in and realised the practice has been sold to Dr. Mahi. And honestly I am short of words for her diagnosis & her teams support. They all were warm welcoming and transparent, told me things as is. Provided with treatment plan- didn’t push me to do something immediately. That’s rare and so good I highly recommend them. They truly care about your health and not pushing you to make money I went here when I was pregnant 2019 , and they took care of me and my child in womb like we were the most precious people on earth. They made us comfortable and took every precaution to make it a smooth journey. Fast forward - 2022, I am still going there for clean up, root canal & recently got my implants as well. All the doctors and the staff are super friendly, accommodating & very warm. Dr. Rayek hands down the BEST dentist ever I have came across in 30 years of life. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Negative experience: I had a very disappointing experience with Smiles at Reston Town Center. Avoid this office at all costs!!! Before starting treatment, I called multiple times to confirm that my insurance would cover a large portion of the cost. Two different staff members assured me that it would—but both were later no longer with the office. I later found out that information was incorrect, and I would not have moved forward with treatment if I had been given accurate details. Throughout the process, I received inconsistent and incorrect information from multiple staff members. When they tried to “fix” things, the so-called discounts weren’t real—they were just the same pricing I had already found online. There also seems to be a lot of staff turnover, which likely contributes to the confusion. The biggest issue was my Invisalign treatment. I expressed that my teeth were not fully straight, but was told everything was fine and nothing more could be done—which I know isn’t true. At that point, I chose not to continue dealing with the office. Overall, this felt like a money-first operation rather than a patient-focused practice. I would NOT recommend them and strongly suggest others look elsewhere.

Tried Dr. Mahi at Smiles at Reston Town Center after my prior dentist for past 10 years retired and I have been looking for one that is a "good-fit" for me. So far I am satisfied. She takes time to explain and to answer my questions. She does not oversell what I would call questionable or unnecessary services. Her staff are great as well. I have done a couple of beyond-the-normal services with Dr. Mahi and so far, no issues. I would rate her dentistry skill 'excellent'.

Fantastic experience: It is usually hard for me to give a 5 star review due to childhood dental trauma! Dr Mahi was gentle and efficient. She made sure I was comfortable the whole time. And this was just a cleaning. I'll be back and even for the repair of a couple teeth!

Negative experience: I had a very bad experience at this dental office. It was my first time visiting because I was having serious tooth pain and needed help urgently. They charged me $350 for X-rays, but I did not receive any actual treatment for my pain. I left still in pain and very disappointed. I understand that X-rays are sometimes necessary, but I was hoping for some kind of treatment or at least immediate relief, especially since I was in discomfort. I felt frustrated paying that amount without getting help for the problem I came in for. As a first-time patient, this was not a good experience. I hope the office improves how they handle patients who come in with urgent pain.
