Fantastic experience: I love Alton and Dr. Woodard. I heard she moved on from doing dental work. She was amazing and the reason I started and stayed with Common Wealth. But I truly love my hygienist!!! He’s amazing

Fantastic experience: New to the practice. Staff and organization are fantastic.

Negative experience: The hygienist and dentist are great, but the front desk experience hasn’t been. I’ve arrived on time for appointments and was often taken back late. I’ve also had trouble getting callbacks about treatment estimates, even after insurance approval—this has happened twice. Additionally, they’ve taken x-rays without checking my insurance coverage frequency, which left me with unexpected bills.

Negative experience: Hygienist was great had a wonderful cleaning. I went back for a "consultation" paid 260$ for the specialist to give me the same information and same options as the dentist on the 1st floor. I went for a consultation and before I was even seen they attempted to get me to do the entire procedure that day. Basically he had all the information he needed to do the procedure. The "consultation" was pocket lining. Not everyone in the community is FOR the community.

Fantastic experience: The Forest Hill location is my favorite. Front desk is very welcoming. Kim, the hygienist, is consistently thorough and attentive. She demonstrates a high level of professionalism and attention to patient comfort and safety. I appreciate her confidence in working with complex dental work.

Fantastic experience: I am very satisfied with my experiences with Dr Khan and Dr Rasul and all the office staff. I went directly from my root canal and temporary filling by Dr Khan to my permanent filling with Dr Rasul. The procedures were done well, quickly, and required next to no time in the waiting room. My treatment plans and costs were clearly explained. Nice people and skilled staff.

Fantastic experience: I’ve had horrible dental experiences that made me avoid the dentist for years. Needed an emergency appointment for a broken tooth causing me pain. Everyone I spoke to was very kind and made the environment very relaxing. The dentists were really informative told me the best options then discussed financially what my best option was, I never felt judged for needing to go the cheaper route! They worked to fit me in for a same day extraction and I’m not exaggerating she pulled my tooth in like 5 minutes! She was so kind and informative they talked me through everything as it was happening. My sister sent me this text while I was back getting my tooth pulled ‘ lol I can hear you out here sound alike you’re having a grand old time’. This was the best dental experiences I’ve ever had I would recommend them to everyone! I will continue to see them as a regular dentist!!

Fantastic experience: I normally receive my care at Chester Dentists at Commonwealth Dentistry; however, I had to visit the Forest Hill office today. To my pleasant surprise, I was treated with great professionalism and respect and received some of the best dental care I have experienced in quite some time. I was particularly impressed by the provider and the level of attention and care shown throughout my visit. While I am not planning to switch practices, I would highly recommend this office to anyone seeking a new dentist. It is reassuring to know there is a strong, capable network available to support patients when needed.

Fantastic experience: I came in as an emergency patient. Because of several recent surgeries and upcoming procedures, the plan required consulting with other doctors. This was expeditiously done. I was kept informed all along the way. My dentist double checked that I got his message and the prescribed med. I was completely amazed at how he handled everything, nothing fell through the cracks.

Fantastic experience: I've always dreaded the dentist but that changed recently when I moved to this practice (they actually merged with my old practice so they had my records). This office treats their patients like you are their only patient. I've got a brand new smile and the process was painless. Their staff is absolutely wonderful and meticulous to ensure my new crown fit and looked perfect. All the dental assistants are kind, caring and gentle and both dentists are up to date on the latest in dentistry. I am extremely happy and probably won't be so anxious on the next visit. Fantastic experience: I had my last three molars pulled a couple months ago, then today I had impressions made for upper and lower partial plates. I should have them after my next appointment, and will finally have teeth to chew food with after years of chewing with front teeth and premolars. Fantastic experience: I could give 10 stars if it was available. First, the office has a clean scent, you are immediately checked in by staff, barely a wait time, the kindness of the staff is welcoming and comforting. The initial exam as a new patient was thorough, the staff are well experienced. My cleaning was a 10. Any concerns or problems with your teeth will be addressed. They listen, support and provide the best options of care. I am very thankful for all the services provided.

Fantastic experience: My experience today was great. The check-in process was easy and quick. I was asked to provide a medical update and verification of personal information. The office had some renovations since my last visit and was more opened and welcoming. My x-ray, examination and cleaning were thorough and quick. The staff was very nice and efficient, and the doctor’s exam was thorough and confirmed a concern I had noticed but was not problematic yet. The doctor explained everything and detailed options for care. The admin staff gave me an estimate and payment options. I was very pleased with my care.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Rasul did an amazing job ensuring that I was comfortable during my visit. I had 2 old fillings removed and replaced without fracturing my teeth. I was finished in an hour. After the nerve block wore off, I felt fine. Thanks Dr. Rasul for an exceptional visit.

Fantastic experience: My usual hygienist is out on maternity leave and Shannon who saw me today was great. She was thorough, had my care done and the Dentist in and out, no problem! The front desk staff is always pleasant and helpful, Kim usually schedules my next appointment but the front desk was ready and that was done efficiently too.

Fantastic experience: The hygienist I had was awesome on 6/11/25 at 11:00 AM. She explained everything she was doing and she also answered many of my questions. I am very sorry she was only in the office as a fill-in.

Negative experience: Cancelled all future appointments and will no longer consider this practice to care for my medical/dental needs. I went in to establish myself as a new patient and the first visit, you’re supposed to receive a cleaning. I was told that they did not have time that day to perform the cleaning and had to reschedule. I cancelled this appointment as well after realizing what happened. The hygienist was very nice, patient and thorough, but the dentist that came in before him was in and out in less than 5 minutes. Overall the services and staff were pretty good; including the assistant. But I did not appreciate being rushed towards the end or having to return for a cleaning when it’s typically done on your first visit. I would’ve waited patiently, but not wasting my time to return. My time is just as valuable as anyone else. Unfortunately, I will be in search for another practice once again…

Fantastic experience: This practice is amazing! I haven’t been to the dentist in years because I hate it, and finally got the bullet and went in. Everyone here is SO nice! Like every single person I interacted with was so kind and helpful. Courtney is amazing! She was so patient with me and went out of her way to make sure I was super comfortable at all times. I had to get 3 cavities fixed and while I do not enjoy that process the doctor and dental assistant were so incredibly kind and patient with my very nervous self. They explained everything they were doing, gave me time when I needed it, and let me wear headphones to reduce the anxiety. This place really truly is a gem.

Fantastic experience: This dental practice has always been friendly, efficient, ready to listen to your concerns and follow up. I met Alvin Dental Hygentist who did a great job in cleaning my teeth. He had several good suggestions for me to improve my dental hygiene process. I appreciated his oral cancer screening.

Fantastic experience: My son is autistic and rarely cooperates at any kind of medical appointment so I gave the staff a heads up before the appointment. My husband took him and said they were absolutely amazing from stsrt to finish, actually got to examine the inside of his mouth, and made my son come home very excited about the dentist. So much so that he kept saying "dentist" and pointing at the door the next day. We have used other pediatric dentists in the area who are also amazing, but if you're in Southside and looking for a high quality pediatric dentist, give this practice a try.

Fantastic experience: Visited Commonwealth Dentistry for the first time and had a wonderful positive experience. Excellent service from Assistant Courtney, Hygienist Kim & Dr. Rasul. While I had no specific concerns I felt like I was being heard when explaining my dental hx. Scheduling follow up care was easy and schedule was agreeable for that, front desk staff was warm & welcoming upon arriving & leaving! All in all, I'm am glad to establish and continue my dental care here at Commonwealth Dentistry!

Fantastic experience: Over the past several months I have had dental services at Commonwealth Dentistry's Forest Hill Ave office including implants, crowns, fillings and cleanings. All these services were effectively and professionally completed. Prior to receiving a service I received a treatment plan including costs. As a treatment progressed each step was explained. I highly recommend them.

Negative experience: Nope. I'm a solid no. My dentist retired so was looking for a new practice. I didn't have a good experience here. I see others are offering great reviews so offering another perspective. They did a procedure that "broke" so had to contact the emergency number on a Friday night. To summarize and paraphrase, that dentist said "We're not open on Saturday. Good luck. Call us back Monday." Nice. If you have an emergency that their dentist caused, best of luck to you on a weekend. So I contacted Virginia Family Dentistry, and despite being new, they saw me on a Saturday and fixed Commonwealth Dentistry's problem. Also, they never reached out on Monday to follow up. Another signal they really didn't care about me as a patient. I would not recommend them.

Negative experience: Worse experience ever and as a new patient didn’t even make it to my Appointment. I asked for new patient documents to be emailed to me never received them. Verified a wrong address. Got to the location no one was there. Tried to call so I can get the correct information, no answer. Their excuses is that they open at 8am but doors don’t open until 8:30. Supposively they tried to text my number but it didn’t go through, knowing that the text weren’t reaching me they never attempted to call me. Wasted 1 hour of work

Positive experience: Overall I am pretty happy with this place and will continue to visit the practice. There has been a fair amount of staff turnover, both in hygienists and dentists, which is the only negative I would note.

Negative experience: I’m writing this review a couple of months after my visit, so my perspective is not driven by frustration but by a desire to share my experience honestly. Unfortunately, the service here was disappointing—well below even a one-star rating. This was my first visit to a periodontist, and before even examining me, they insisted on performing every possible X-ray. While I understand the importance of X-rays, conducting them before any initial consultation felt like a way to increase costs, possibly to justify the investment in expensive equipment. Additionally, the person conducting the X-rays seemed inexperienced, having to repeat the process multiple times. After all that, Dr. Yesbeck spent no more than three minutes reviewing the X-rays before recommending that I replace everything in my mouth—every filling and crown, regardless of how long they’ve been in place. His demeanor was dismissive, leaving me feeling like I was just another number. To add to the frustration, the back office was unable to find my insurance information, requiring me to make an additional trip. Despite the large bill, I did not receive any useful advice and would not return. I recommend seeking a periodontist who is more respectful and thorough in their approach.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been going here for a little over a year and my most recent experience was really great. They did two pain-free fillings in under an hour and the assistant did a great job making me feel comfortable

Fantastic experience: I brought my 3 year old son to his very first dentist experience on Friday at Commonwealth Dentistry. The entire staff was kind and welcoming and Dr. Shafiq was very professional and attentive. He made my son feel comfortable and at ease in the dentist chair, explaining everything along the way and making it fun for him. Fantastic experience: I have been to many dentist over the years. Commonwealth has a very nice bedside manner in their approach as well as qualified dentist and hygienists. Jamie was Dr. S assistant as he did 3 fillings and did a great job honest open and professional. My Dentist was younger but also brings new techniques and state of the art views. I feel like I am the only patient they have. Unlike some practitioners where you can see they are about the money and not the patients.

Positive experience: When I started using this business it was under a different name. I was new to Chesterfield county. I really enjoyed having the office close to my house. My first visit to the new office was difficult for me to find. It was not a much longer drive, and the fast , thorough service you get while at this office makes it worth traveling the little extra distance.

Negative experience: I have to say the worst client service I have ever witnessed. From upfront billing, double billing, not able to explain billing, technician breaking a filling and calling it a missed filling. Using insurance schedule as a work scope not what client request. Having to wait again in the waiting room and basic lack of respect and treatment. This group is just too cocky for my money.

Fantastic experience: I came in for a deep cleaning/scaling yesterday and was a little nervous. Elvin was absolutely wonderful! He took his time and explained everything he was going to do. He even put on my favorite 80s alternative music to help the time go by. A great experience! I love Commonwealth Dentistry!

Fantastic experience: I can’t tell you how nervous I was for both appointments; they were my first in longer than I’d like to admit (but working for years in the service industry without dental insurance will force your hand in the kinds of health exams you can or can’t make). The front desk employees immediately set me at ease for both of my appointments with kindness and helpfulness. Dr. Rasul and Lucas handled my emergency exam and filling implementation appointment like gentle pros and without judgment, and they took care of the tooth decay on my chipped tooth and gave me a filling quickly and efficiently. If it seemed like I was gripping my own hands for dear life, it was only due to my own anxiety—they were fantastic and even made pleasant conversation with each other. At the end of the appointment, Dr. Rasul carefully explained what I could expect to experience over the next few months, and both Dr. Rasul and Lucas separately and tactfully suggested I schedule a biannual exam. I also want to mention that the front desk employee who set me up for my second appointment gave me a quote on the spot upon leaving my first appointment for the price I would pay out of pocket for my filling at my second appointment. It was a printout with a breakdown of what was covered by insurance and what wasn’t. I didn’t request it—it was provided up-front. This is a fantastic business practice that communicates that transparency is a priority. As someone who works in billing, I was impressed by this approach and I genuinely appreciated it. Slay. Shout-out to my mom for recommending this practice, but shout-outs to everyone I interacted with in both visits, because they all deserve commendation for making a potentially stressful situation very manageable, and for maintaining a nonjudgmental and supportive environment. I look forward to my exam in June! Can’t wait to finally know what’s going on with the rest of my teeth, and to feel like my teeth are actually clean.

Negative experience: I thought I did the right thing by coming to Commonwealth Denistry to get a bad tooth pulled..I was mistaken..My insurance didn’t even cover extractions unfortunately..The whole time I was there the doctor and the dental assistant who was very much a jokester and very much did make me feel comfortable and had a great sense of humor she really was the most friendliest.But besides all that ,all they talked about was more ways for me to come out of pocket to spend more money once my tooth would be pulled..Didn’t get my tooth pulled after the fact because they had to schedule me to see the praradontis downstairs..But that’s not what behooved me..What had behooved me was..How you got a receptionist a blonde headed lady forgive me I don’t know her name, sitting up in the front that is rude as hell..She don’t smile all she does is sit there and hand off the patients she don’t favor to her other coworker that sits right beside her behind the desk..Hate to pull the race card but ,she definitely made me feel that way bypassing everytime I came up to the front desk.She should be fired!!Don’t think I’ll be returning there..And more then likely will be sticking to what I know and just go to another establishment.

Fantastic experience: I needed an emergency tooth procedure and they got me in extremely quick. The staff has ALWAYS been compassionate and professional! I have TMJ and my jaw never hurts after a visit !

Negative experience: Just got two teeth pulled. By Dr. Shafiq at Forest Hill location. Everything went well. Until he pulled my teeth. Then sent me home. To suffer in pain. Told me to get some Tylenol and Ibprofen. With two open holes in my mouth. Mrs. Jamie was .....One of the sweetest people I've met. And Wendy was nice. They have other receptionist. The lady working with Wendy. Extra nonchalant and rude in her own way. A phone should never be answered. Unprofessionally and nonchalant. Even the manager. Just picked up my call. With a simple hello. Instead of a Commonwealth Denistry, how may I help you? She acted ike she was answering her home phone. Dr. Shafiq got really nasty. And loud with me. When I told him? It was unprofessional. To pull someone's teeth. Then send them home with nothing. I even stated I was allergic. To Ibprofen and he prescribed. The medication to me anyway. The entire place. Makes me feel like. It's some racism with some of them folks. They don't like black people. Racism in their on way. I can see it with their actions. And all over their face. And got the nerve. To want blacks to come. To their establishment. And treated me like. I was dog mess. When I stated how I felt? And how unprofessional the situation was.My experience was awful. And I will not be coming back. If you don't want to suffer. After getting a tooth or two pulled. Then you better not come here. Had I known I'd be. Suffering again after he pulled my teeth. I would've went somewhere else. I learned my lesson. And that was not to come back. Only person that made me. Feel very welcome was Mrs. Jamie ❤️.

Negative experience: I made my first appointment with them for a cleaning and had x-rays taken and was told I needed to come back to get the actual cleaning. Went back a month later and the rude receptionist from my first visit told me I couldn't be seen because they didn't accept my insurance. Now they're sending me a bill for what they didn't even do.

Fantastic experience: I went in for a teeth cleaning today. I always see Kim and she is just the best. Always upbeat, considerate and great at her job. My teeth feel amazing and I can highly recommend her.

Negative experience: If you were a patient of Richmond smile just know it’s not the same these people are money hungry and love to waste people’s time. Went there twice with my husband to get a cleaning and we kept getting the run around and getting money pushed in our face. When since do we pay for routine cleaning when you have insurance??? Never!!! Worst dentist office in Richmond!!

Fantastic experience: Had a terrific visit today at the Forest Hill location. Elvin my dental hygienist was awesome. He did a great job and kept me entertained. Thank you Elvin. Then I saw Dr. Shafiq. He was awesome too. Very nice and thorough in his examination. Thanks guys.

Fantastic experience: I Love the atmosphere and the Staff. My care from Evin has been the Best. Where I use to live in Chicago. The dentist were rough. I hope it's the new technology that makes things smoother along with the person working on your teeth.

Fantastic experience: They do a great job at cleaning; very thorough. The latest instruments and all new equipment. Clean interior. Feels like going to the salon for my teeth. I look forward going to the dentist when I come here.

Negative experience: The dentist there is rude and judgmental. I would never recommend this place to anyone because the dentist did a horrible job fixing my teeth and he did it on purpose just because he didn't like me. Never go to this place if you want good work done.

Fantastic experience: The staff are always so nice! They make sure I understand everything they are doing and why. They answer my questions and my follow up questions until I am comfortable going forward with my treatment. You guys are great!

Fantastic experience: Commonwealth Dentistry on Forrest hill Ave is the best Dentistry I've been to in a long time . The staff are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. If anyone has a tooth or gum problem they are definitely the place to go. First time I went there I had left my cellphone in uber driver's car a young lady at the front desk was so helpful she even was able to get a hold of my uber driver and get my phone back to me the same day. That's the kind of staff at Commonwealth Dentistry on Forrest Hill Ave that will make a bad day turn into a great day . 2/16/23 I'm back at the dentist for another cleaning thank God for Rachel my hygienist she's the best .My teeth and gums are feeling great, the team at Commonwealth Dentistry are extremely knowledgeable and talented I have been extremely lucky to have them as my Dentistry. Wanda works the front desk and she is the nicest woman ever I love her smile and personality it brings a smile to my face every time. The best Dentistry in Richmond by far. 12/ 13/2023 Again no complaints the staff from the front desk to the people In blue and the hygienist all Dentist are fantastic at there job if you have any doubts about the professional attitude and skill of your dentist you need to switch to the Commonwealth Dentistry on Forest hill rd in Richmond Virginia they are the complete package. Listen I moved to North Carolina and I still use them as my dentist because I can't find a better dentist staff than the Commonwealth Dentistry on Forest hill. Trust me if want top quality care go to this Dentistry. Get your dental insurance and they will take care of your needs of the mouth. Thanks again to all the staff your the best Dentistry in at least 100 mile radius.

Fantastic experience: Had deep periodontal cleaning done on 11/08/23 .the hygienist Holly did and outstanding job also she was kind and courteous..she made sure I could not feel any pain during the cleaning process..Commonwealth Dentistry does good work. I would them to anyone!!!!!!

Fantastic experience: Had an infected tooth fracture. Dr. Yesbeck did such a phenomenal job with extraction, removing infection in surrounding tissue, bone all the while explaining what was being done, asking how I was. Follow up was the same in care, communication, kindness, assistant extremely knowledgeable (she is very good, too)! I go to their Forest Hill location. Hygienist is another excellent professional who is extremely good! Check this place out if you need dental care! 10 out of 10 stars.

Fantastic experience: Hate changing dentists but was very pleased with this practice. Love that they "power wash" your teeth inserted off scraping with sharp instruments. Great experience !
