Negative experience: Leaving this review because I’ve been waiting on a call back from the office manager for over a week now. Had a routine cleaning the other week which was rescheduled multiple times due to the snow, that’s cool, it’s an hour drive for me anyways. I moved and wanted to keep the same dental practice since I’ve invested so much time and money into my dental health. Have a great appt, finally a dental hygienist I thought did a great job and was extremely knowledgeable. She was obviously new to me but she read my chart, reviewed my films, etc and talked about how much the overall health of my mouth, gums, and teeth had improved. She goes to schedule my next routine (I get two a year through my insurance) and tells me they have nothing until July which doesn’t work because math. So we go up front and they say they can put me on a cancellation list but that may not work for me since I’m an hour away and I have something called a job and a life I would need to schedule around. That irked my nerves enough. Then she leaves me with the receptionist which then proceeds to tell me the cost of today’s visit was going to be $170 and some change. ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY DOLLARS for a routine visit where absolutely nothing special was done. I immediately asked how and why in which the receptionist tells me I’ve met my plan max and this was my out of pocket expense. Erm ooooook. So yall can tell me how much it’s going to cost and make me pay beforehand for my legit dental work; I’ve had a few crowns and fillings but you can’t let me know I was going to have to pay out of pocket on a routine cleaning visit? None of the three separate times yall called to reschedule me that week or in any of the persistent text message reminders or email reminders could there have been a courtesy FYI that they were expecting to collect almost $200 from me that day??? Not to mention when I had my last routine cleaning I had a $35 copay for fluoride and same receptionist asked if I would like to use my credit of nearly $200 towards that service. Again, erm.. credit? At what point were yall going to tell me I had OVERPAID an expense yall told me was due and was just sitting on it for no reason? Pretty ridiculous. Hate to change dentists after finding one tha does quality work but as a medical office worker I find this absolutely crappy from an ethical business standpoint. Wonder if I’ll get a call back now.

Fantastic experience: I was apprehensive about getting some long overdue work done. Decades of neglect and bad experiences had frankly wrecked my mouth. I’m so glad I chose Complete Dental Care of Richmond. Hands down the best experience I have ever had in a dentist’s office. Every step of the way they kept me informed and took excellent care of me. My comfort was always a high priority and I never felt like I was just another patient or customer for the books. I never thought I would ever actually hear myself saying that I was looking forward to going to the dentist, but the fact remains that I actually do. If you’re someone who generally dreads having to go in for dental work because the whole experience is usually cold, painful and maybe a little judgmental, you really need to give Complete Dental Care of Richmond a try. It just might give you a new perspective on what dentistry is supposed be. I absolutely love them and can’t thank them enough for how much their work has improved my quality of life.

Fantastic experience: Complete Dental Care of Richmond is great. They were extremely thorough: lots of x-rays plus a scan, a gentle cleaning, a non-rushed visit with the dentist, and they have a nice approach to explaining costs /co-pay, etc. They come to you. Someone pulls up a chair to go over everything, line by line. No rush. Everyone is so friendly. I was "Welcomed" several times. I definitely recommend this place for dental care. Negative experience: Terrible experience, hygienist is way too rough jabbing your gums with her tools and then says you have a lot of bleeding like it's poor hygiene. Funny how there was no bleeding during flossing but now that I've been stabbed 1000 times there's blood... I will not be returning.

Positive experience: I have been going here for years for my dental care. I love my dentist ! The only issues I have are that I found out recently something I was told I have (periodontal disease).....I actually DO NOT have. The oral cancer screening was not listed on my chart that it was done prior to my recent visit. It makes me question the integrity of this facility. The front desk folks are very professional and polite. I don't know the cost of dental care anywhere else, but, even with dental insurance....the cost of dental work is extremely high. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: Got an appointment quickly for a broken tooth. Was impressed by Dr Patel. She was gentle (I’m a baby when I have to see a dentist LOL), patient & professional. Explained everything she was doing & what I could expect. When the tooth became problematic, she stuck with it until the tooth was properly extracted and we had a plan for restoration. She called the following day to see how I was doing. The front desk staff was responsive, the billing clerk checked in with me so I knew in advance what to expect from insurance and the dental tech was just the best. I’ve already recommended Dr Patel & the practice to family members.

Negative experience: Avoid this dental practice, it’s a shady place and you will have to fight not to get upcharged or straight up ripped off. On my last visit, I was put under the care of an inexperienced hygienist who did not know how to operate the patient chair, repeatedly stabbed me in the gums and once in the chest with her pick. When she was showing me the C-method for flossing, she began roughly pushing the floss so deep into my gumline that I had to tell her to stop and could taste blood. The dentist, Dr. Patel, acted as if I were a new patient and said “it was nice meeting you!” Despite it being my third visit and third time seeing her. At the end of my visit, my dental hygienist told me that she would be putting fluoride on my teeth, which I was charged $30 out of pocket for, despite never being asked if I wanted this treatment nor advised that it would be an out of pocket charge. Overall, my experience with Complete Dental Care of Richmond left me feeling that they do not care about patients half as much as they do making a profit.

Fantastic experience: Complete Dental Care of Richmond has been my primary dentist for over 5 years. Dr.Barbato has been my dentist every since I been there. There was one time Dr. Barbato left this practice and I would say it was a dark moment cause I left right after. When I heard that she returned back to the area I immediately booked an appointment. Some things they can teach you in dental school while other things are just natural GOD given talent. She has the best hands I've ever encounter when it comes to anything dealing with oral care. Very well-seasoned and extremely caring. Dr. Barbato is a A+++++ dentist. She brings a lot of value to the office and profession as a whole. What I'm most profound of is how she deals with her team ; from the front office staff to the hygienist. Dr. Barbato is never shy to do any work to ensure patient care. An excellent teacher and provider. I would highly recommend anyone who is in need of dental work to reach out to Dr. Barbato and her staff at Complete Dental Care of Richmond. Pain Free!!

Fantastic experience: been going here about 2 years. Had to get an emergency crown after mine broke. Was seen day of and left 90 minutes later pain free and with a temp crown. Obviously this won’t always happen but Dr barbado was helpful and gave me tons of info and got me into her schedule. Very much appreciate the staff here.

Positive experience: The office now requires a 48 hour advance notice for cancellation. However, after confirming my appointment via email, phone call and text, I was called by the office one day before to reschedule my appointment. Rethink your cancellation policy.

Negative experience: I've decided not to go back to this place heres why: My old dentist closed, and merged with this company, I loved my old dentist so much I decided to continue receiving services, when I went to this location, I was really disappointed with the hygienist that cleaned by teeth and my husbands. I take care of my teeth avidly and always have, but when I was pregnant my gums started bleeding as many women experience, the hygienist was flossing way too hard, and my mouth as full of blood, I floss every day, properly, and know you don't have to dig into your gums to do so. She then accused me of not flossing, and when I told her that was wrong, she laughed and told me to floss in a dismissive tone. When I got home after my appointment ny gums were very sore and swollen. My husband had a cleaning later that month, the same hygienist accused him of being a "pothead" my husband denied it, we smoke maybe twice a year, its nice on camping trips, but thats not enough to be visible on his teeth, at this point it had been almost a year. She insisted she knew what a smokers mouth looked like, and told him he "didn't need to lie" this made him pretty angry, he talked to him mom who is a dental hygienist and she agreed this was really inappropriate. I had another 6 month appointment because I was too lazy to find a new dentist. I was 9 months pregnant, and was having issues with laying flat, the same hygienist, was training a new girl (I assume, she seemed new) and was being really rude to her, I let the hygienist know that I couldn't lay flat, she started questioning me about it, I told her my son would push on my arteries and make me lightheaded and nauseous, and I was getting bad reflux at this point. She told me she hadn't had that issue when she was pregnant, I finally lost my temper, and told her good for her, but this is what im working with, she then leaned me back, ignoring what I had just told her, I then told her, again, that I needed to sit up more, she then goffed and brought me up slightly, and told me she couldn't work on me if I was inclined any more. I was still really flat, like as if I was laying in bed, but I gave up because I wanted to get my cleaning before my son arrived. I left the office feeling like crap. My MIL then told me she could have absolutely accommodated, and just needed to work at a different angle. I was supposed to have another 6 month cleaning today, and I found myself dreading going back again, I canceled my appointment, and now im writing this. If she's no longer there I would absolutely come back, the dentists are nice and the front staff are pleasant.

Fantastic experience: Office called and offered an earlier appt that became available, once there everyone was so nice & professional. Office & equipment clean, well organized & up to date! Staff explained all steps from forms to procedures to cost.

Negative experience: The receptionist was nice. I went in for an extraction due to my tooth being cracked. Dentist pushed for a crown but that simply was unaffordable. He asked if I wanted to think about it for a few days. No- I want the tooth gone! Receptionist came in and went over what insurance would cover and how much I would be left to pay. My out of pocket expense was quoted at $187 (with $100 of that due same day) a few weeks later I was billed an additional $330 dollars. My insurance company stated the dental office is overcharging on the services and they will not cover. So now I have a dental bill in collections because of it. Horrible experience. My total bill was almost the total it would have cost to get the tooth crowned.

Fantastic experience: I had by far the most pleasant dental experience I’ve ever had at this office. Every person that cared for me was so attentive & genuinely kind. You can tell everyone here loves what they do & are so very good at it. I think for the first time ever, I’ll actually look forward to my dentist appointments now! Lol. I very highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a group of wonderful people to make you feel comfortable while caring for your teeth.

Positive experience: To make this brief. The dental hygienist was great! Explained what she was going to do before starting and she was very thorough. Never saw a dentist. I waited for 15 minutes after the hygienist was done and the dentist never came in. So I left. I understand that unexpected situations come up. However my time is important too. I feel this gets lost in the medical world today. No personal touch.

Positive experience: The Hygienist & Dentist that I saw were absolutely wonderful, I would give them 5/5 stars. I’m currently 5 months pregnant, and they did any and everything to make me comfortable/keep baby safe. They explained everything to me clearly & they were so personable. Absolutely fantastic! The reception ladies were polite to me. However, I felt very awkward/shocked at one point because a gentleman came in with a request for his teeth molds or something like that, and the front desk staff were quite rude to him. One of them firmly told him “I told you on the phone yesterday, we can’t do anything for you”. Then proceeded to call his regular dentist an “idiot” for suggesting that they could. The exchange got louder until the gentleman finally left. To which the front desk receptionists started gossiping about him & calling him names. Not a good look in front of other patients in the office; makes me wonder what they said when I left! Gave me “mean girl” vibes.

Positive experience: Visited site on Midlo., Rich. VA the staff and clinicians were time efficient, the service proficient and the fees were (not) so competitive although they do offer payment options. I think (3.5 stars) more appropriate but that was not an option.

Negative experience: Don’t go early because you will still sit in the waiting room for 30 minutes. The new DMD dentist was not helpful. I refuse her suggestions and then, I was rushed out. I’m requesting Dr Isabel Barbato the next time I go. I give her and front staff 5 stars.

Fantastic experience: Office staff was very warm and helpful. My hygienist Shamere was kind, took her time and explained everything to me.

Positive experience: Okay service. They will change your appointment time with a short notice. For example, I received an email the night before my appointment of an appointment change. I just happened to check my email the next morning and saw a different time. Staff are nice. I have went there about 3 or 4 times and always a different team of people.

Fantastic experience: The staff is courteous and knowledgeable, and worked quickly to make sure my needs were addressed in a timely and thorough fashion. I left with a clear treatment plan moving forward. Even expected future expenses were provided. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with the level of service I've received so far, and look forward to seeing my new dentist in the future.

Negative experience: I would say avoid i made an appointment for my son who is an adult but disabled so I take care of all his stuff. He has 2 insurances so I made sure I told them which was primary they billed it opposite so billed his primary as secondary it’s been almost 2 years I am still trying to get insurance to fix it and pay meanwhile this office keeps sending him letters about the bill and collection threats! Well if it was billed correctly it wouldn’t be an issue! And I had to call 3 separate times to explain to them they billed it wrong! Isn’t the insurance their job not the parents to fix if they billed it wrong! Plus they are super slow and two cavities my son got fixed broke the very next day both times .

Fantastic experience: Dr. Barbaro is professional, compassionate and she is very thorough in her approach to creating and managing the dental care plan. The administrative staff (Rachel & Sarah) is responsive and collegial and excellent regarding scheduling. The dental staff (Debby) communicates calmly and in a manner that keeps me, the patient, informed of the work as it progresses.

Fantastic experience: Every at the clinic was so good to me. I was on a lot of pain and coming from TN, I was feeling a little bit unsure on going to a new dental office, but starting from the phone call to seeing the doctor, I was treated with so much empathy and and attention that I wish I could move here to have the clinic taking care of my dental health. Negative experience: Please keep your charge receipts and what you and your insurance are supposed to pay. Please be mindful of all the extra add ons that they say is free or will be thrown out at the end of the year and how your insurance is being charged. Very inconsistent with billing and quick to say you have used up your amount for the year. Never had this problem until going to this Dental office. Niceness doesn't cut it when you are being overcharged. Food for thought..word to the wise.

Negative experience: The wait time is too long. My appointment was at 9:30, and i had sit and wait for 1 hour. I completed my visit in 1 1/2 hrs. I dont like it, time is money. I have things to do, and my time was wasted

Negative experience: This is the worst Dentist office I've ever been to. In my life, they keep on sending bills. And insurance already took care of this bill. I never come back to this dentist office again, . And they never return phone calls. Everything they said was wrong with me. Went to another dentist. The doctor said nothing wrong with my teeth.

Fantastic experience: I discussed with the dentist my frustration over the several years that it took so long to get my teeth clean. 2.5 hours once. I was glad she was open to my honest to her about my frustration. I was ready to leave the practice but decided to give it one more try. Very successful and I will be returning to this group

Fantastic experience: I was so pleased with everyone. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Dr. Barbato and the imaging technician(forgot his name) were both very nice and gentle. They explained everything they were going to do before they did it. I really appreciated that as I was very nervous. They made me feel at ease. Look forward to seeing them again. D. Anderson
