Fantastic experience: Based off of my first visit RVA Dental is one of the best I’ve been too. My wife is making her appointment soon right after I told her about my experience with RVA. They definitely look at there patients as their number one priority. This is why I’m choosing them to do what they suggest is best for myself. One thing I have to say they want all patients to have positive long term results.

Fantastic experience: RVA Dental Care has been our regular dentist since my wife and I relocated to RVA in 2023. We aren’t spring chickens so we’ve had numerous dentists over the years. RVA Dental Care is probably my favorite. From the front-desk people to the cashiers, to the hygienists and assistants, to the doctors, everyone is kind and welcoming, and top-notch in their jobs. We started out with Dr. Friend seeing us, who of course was amazing, but since his recent retirement, Dr. Collie has become our regular dentist. I am very pleased with his professionalism and skill. He is also very easy to relate to, which I find important to a good doctor-patient relationship. Most recently I saw Dr. Collie to get 2 crowns. The prep work was done within 75 minutes, with no pain. I’ll go back in a week to have the crowns delivered. The financial aspect was clearly explained to me, no surprises. The whole experience was great.

Fantastic experience: Took my 3yo for her first dentist appt and they were so nice and made her feel very comfortable! She had so much fun with the tooth chair and prize drawer! She won’t have any issues going back to the dentist!

She also identified a couple of things for Dr. Pelais to check out during my exam. He concurred with her finding, we discussed my options. I got pricing on treatment options and checked out. My dental hygienist, Cindy, was terrific as always. My chat with Dr. Friend before was informative with regard to his future retirement plans and how much he will miss his work, his office, and his patients. He is a wealth of expertise and knowledge who will be missed by many when he sails off into the sunset. My February visit with Cindy was excellent and I was happy to be in and out rather quickly. Dr. Friend was humorous as always and I was done early. Thanks so much to RVA Dental. The front end staff starts with friendly greetings and offers assistance and knowledge with your insurance. Cindy, my hygenist, is competent and diligent. Dr Pelais was thorough and offered excellent answers to my questions. I look forward to my next visit. My recent visit with Monica and Dr. Collie went very well. The attention to detail and my comfort made everything go smoothly. As always the office staff were cheerful and helpful. Yesterday’s visit to RVA Dental was excellent. My hygienist, Cindy, completed her tasks with skill and competence. Dr. Lawrence was prompt and deliberate with my checkout. Most recent visit with Cindy and Dr. Friend was terrific. In and out in less than an hour too! My last cleaning and now a new crown being fitted. Everything was terrific with Cindy (hygienist) and also a week later with Dr. Friend and his superb assistant for my crown. Everything was smooth and painless. Thanks to all! Just had a crown made and put in place by Dr. Collie and his assistant Nan. They are a great team and I was very pleased with the visit. Unfortunately my new crown has a hairline crack that showed up on X-Ray. Now I must go back for a replacement crown. Sadly the crown I received in February had the same issue in quality and had to be redone. I hope the practice will work with the dental lab to get these issues corrected. Erica assisted today and she too is friendly and competent. Recent cleaning with Cindy was excellent as always. The front office staff was delightful and brimming with excitement over impending weather. Dr Collie and Erin were both terrific replacing my crown and it’s been without issue this week. I’m grateful for the quality dental care provided by RVA Dental. I do miss Dr. Friend’s touch of humor and wish him well in his retirement.

Positive experience: I am very disappointed with this office. The staff were lovely, as was the dentist. I’m sure they’re all very good at what they do, but you shouldn’t feel the same pressure you feel at a car dealership at the dentist. I faxed over the X-ray and order from my endo for a build up and crown. I explained I would be driving from 2 hours away and needed pricing to ensure I could afford costs after my insurance. I was quoted $2000- $1000 being covered by insurance. I explained that was too high and was told about Sunbit. I filled out the app, got approved for $650 and was told i could pay the remaining $350 in a week when my permanent crown was delivered. I drove 2 hours with my toddler, had an X-ray done, had the dentist try to sell me a bridge, and had the lady come back and make me sign off on the payment only to see I was suddenly responsible for $1500. Apparently, whoever I spoke to did not include the buildup. The reason I was given was that they’d never seen me and didn’t know if it’d be necessary, but it was clearly on the order from my endo. The receptionist even said that the girl I’d spoken to had told her about the confusion, but no one called me prior to my drive. I assume they were hoping I’d just pay it once I’d driven there, despite me making it very clear that was way outside my budget. I was then informed that I’d be charged for the X-ray- whatever insurance didn’t pay, despite them not doing any work due to their screw up. I called the following day to complain to a manager and was told the same, that they had to see me prior to giving an estimate, despite the order clearly saying I needed a build up. Needless to say I went to another practice and was only responsible for $220 after insurance and the crown was same day. This place is money driven and charges way more than insurance recommends. They also try to upsell you while you’re there and pressure you into paying these high costs. I chose this practice because of the great reviews, but I feel completely scammed. I will not be returning and will be disputing any bill with insurance, as I believe it should be waved for their mistake.

Fantastic experience: RVA Dental was amazing, this was my first time going and I felt welcomed the moment I walked into the door. They explained everything perfectly and interacted with such kindness. I will be referring everyone I know because I have never I my life meet people that genuinely love the work they do.

Fantastic experience: 10/10 experience! I had a root canal/crown this morning and from the get-go from the initial visit on Wednesday, Dr. Collie and his team were fantastic and made me feel comfortable. I now look forward to my dental visits and having them care for my dental needs.

Fantastic experience: This was my 1yr old son's 1st dental appointment. The staff was friendly, playful, and gentle with him. They also helped educate and explain things to me for a clear understanding of his best health. The staff was oddly aware of my rare genetic disorder and validated any future anxieties I have with my sons possibilities. As a single mama and 1st time mom, they helped me feel heard, welcome, and relaxed. After the appointment, about 4-5 staff members cheerfully played chase and peekaboo with my son in the lobby while I booked our next appointments. That was SOOO wonderful to see! I'm very happy with my experience there and loved the interactions we had.

Negative experience: RVA was Jeff, Vicky and their I think two hygienist and I office assistant. Small family practice. For I think 23-24 year I went there even went Jeff went out of network for me. The love was infectious. I couldn't wait for my appointment as much as I hated going to the dentist, He moved from Libby to the current location. I was so proud of him. I catched the business grow. While the atmosphere stayed the same. Then slowly it changed. Jeff stayed his bubbly self but hummm. Sadly he is retiring and so am I from RVA too. I see him one last time. Well all good things must end. I will end with a quote from Plato*The "good life" is a lifelong pursuit'

Fantastic experience: I can’t say enough kind words about this practice. I have a wonderful dentist that I see regularly, but they do not have an emergency service. When I encountered a tooth infection on Friday evening, I called RVA Dental Care on Saturday morning at 10am. They had me in a chair 15 minutes later. From the kind, welcoming office staff to Dr. Collier’s professionalism, knowledge and care, the team at RVA Dental Care went above and beyond to get me taken care of. I would highly recommend them to anyone in need of any form of dental care. They won’t let you down!

Fantastic experience: I came in as a new patient yesterday and had a great experience! I only had to wait a couple weeks for an appointment. I hadn’t been to the dentist in awhile so I was a bit nervous but the hygienist and doctor made me feel very comfortable. I will definitely be coming back!

Fantastic experience: So I’m one of those people who avoid going to the dentist until they have to, recently i had an emergency and had to go in and have some things done. And may i just say first of all the staff were so friendly and the energy in there was very calm and welcoming which helped my anxiety. I’m bad at remembering names (I think Dr. Frend) the dentist that took care of me was very gentle, checked on me to make sure I was doing okay throughout the process, and was also super quick which I appreciated. I can’t say the dentist is my favorite place to go still but this place is definitely where I’ll be going in the future for any dental work. Highly recommended for sure!!!!!!!!

Fantastic experience: I was referred to this office from a friend. I always am a little leery about referrals because everyone has their own subjective views but this is a fantastic experience. Everyone is so incredibly nice and friendly. Smiling faces great you at every turn. The dentist even remembered something I told him months ago! Him and his assistant worked like a pit crew on my filling replacement and did a great job at putting me at ease. I'm so happy I found a dental office I don't dread going to! Great work everyone! Fantastic experience: I haven't been to the dentist in a few years, partially out of inability and partially out of anxiety. RVA Dental ensured I felt respected, understood, and never embarrassed about my situation. The process of making the appointment to walking out of the door was smooth and personal which I deeply appreciated. I recommend anyone and everyone in need of a dentist to make an appointment here, it will not disappoint and you may even find yourself looking forward to your next visit just like me!

Negative experience: To be honest I'm highly disappointed in this place. I was under the assumption that they had my insurance but apparently they are out of network for a lot of insurance agencies. I had $450 to have one tooth pulled and $600 to have one filling. Highly disappointed and would not recommend. I now Recommend Richmond City Dentistry. These people are scammers.

Fantastic experience: As someone with pretty bad anxiety when it comes to the dentist I can't recommend this place enough. All of the staff is soo welcoming and kind. The new patient intake form asked many questions about past dental experiences and any other concerns you may have. I got all four of my wisdom teeth taken out here (which I had been putting off for years due to fear) but I finally felt safe and comfortable enough here to have it done. Dr. Pelais listens and truly cares about his patients.

Fantastic experience: RVA Dental Care is the best! Dr. Friend has been my dentist for 25 years (and my kids’ dentist their whole lives) and I trust his expertise and truly enjoy seeing him. I’ve also seen Dr. Lawrence and Dr. Collie, and they are excellent as well. My dental hygienist is kind, thorough, and efficient. They offer extra preventive services (fluoride, sealants, etc), but I never feel pressured to do them. They do a great job explaining all my dental care options and I couldn’t recommend them highly enough. Excellent practice!

Fantastic experience: My first visit for an emergency extraction. Dr Friend and team were awesome!! Extremely knowledgeable and comforting!! I'm not a big dental person, but they will definitely be my choice for the future!! Highly recommend!!

Fantastic experience: This is one of the best dental experiences ive had to date. Everyone is so nice from the time you walk in through check-out. Wait time was short compared to other dental offices. They also have late afternoon hours for people like myself who can’t get there before 4 pm. The staff is efficient and explain everything. Im glad i switched dentists. Highly recommend.

Negative experience: I have always appreciated Dr. Friend and the hygienist team, but unfortunately, my experience with the front office staff has been less than pleasant. After being a loyal patient for nearly eight years, I found their approach to appointments to be rude and condescending. Despite the challenges of juggling appointments during COVID and raising two young children, I was surprised to be blacklisted due to my rescheduling history (7 reschedules over 8 years). Their policy of now only allowing me same-day appointments is not feasible for my busy schedule. After careful consideration, I’ve decided to seek a new dentist.

Fantastic experience: I get excellent dental care from Dr Friend. He has great chair side manner and explains everything in a way I can understand. I recommend his practice without reservation.

Fantastic experience: Nothing but positive things to say. Heather was excellent as my hygienist, and Dr Lawrence was awesome as well. Always tough finding a good dentist when you move. I couldn’t be more content with the service they provided. If you have anxiety about the dentist- they do an excellent job of putting you at ease. Highly recommend
