Fantastic experience: So happy I found this practice. For years, I had been with another practice where I saw a different doctor at every visit and it seemed like they never consulted my profile notes before providing care - and that's not even getting into the details on the care itself. But after just one visit at Glen Allen Dentistry, I am so happy I switched. Every single person in the office (receptionist, hygienist, dentist, techs) was pleasant and helpful, and they made me feel heard. And not to say they provide childcare, but I even had to bring my 3 month old with me and an employee (shoutout Amy!) kept eyes on her and occupied her so I could get x-rays and my cleaning done. My tech and hygienist were just as diligent as they were swift. My dentist was friendly, considerate, and addressed my concerns/answered my questions thoroughly. I personally don't have any huge hangups with going to the dentist but it's definitely not something I look forward to and I realized after this visit that I won't dread it as much in the future!

From the very first phone call to schedule everything, all the way through getting a root canal, my experience has been nothing but positive. Everyone on the staff is so welcoming and kind. Negative experience: I recently received a bill from Glen Allen Dentistry with a statement date of 08/07/2025. I haven’t had an appointment with them in over a year, so I called to inquire about a possible error. The receptionist informed me the bill was for a missed appointment from September 2024. I received no prior calls, emails, or texts about this alleged missed appointment—just a bill nearly a year later. This seems like an unprofessional and questionable business practice.

Fantastic experience: I moved to Charlottesville, but I still drive an hour two hours both ways just to have Dr.Shaw the staff and also the administration who wonderfully knows how to do my insurance correctly. They go over x-rays every technique. Everything that’s needed, I am a part of the decision.. they take time and explain. The Insurance administrator sits down and discusses everything, and it matches all of my Insurance manuals. The numbers add up perfectly and it’s the first office I don’t have to argue about Insurance. Or teach them how to do it correctly. They do their homework and they are prepared and correct. It’s worth driving two hours to have it done right. Dr.Shaw is very meticulous, very friendly, very gentle, very thorough.

Positive experience: I’ve been going to Glen Allen Dentistry for about 10 years. Dr. Shah and the staff have always been great so no complaints there. A few days ago I was seen by a new dentist for a regular routine visit and I do not care for her snarky attitude AT ALL! I almost exchanged some words with her but I kept the peace in order to not make a scene. To be specific on what lead to this, when several of her fingers were stretching my lips and others moving around to check my gums, she asked me to open; I finally was able to somewhat ask if she meant my mouth because I was confused as that was difficult with my lips stretched to the max and full of fingers in all directions. Her response in a very sarcastic tone and laugh was, “Yes girl, what do you think I mean?” I’m not a girl, I’m a very grown woman, and we’re not friends. Second strike; I have a missing lower tooth and her question was, “We had a discussion with you about the treatment plan for that space, do you still want to move forward with that?” I responded and said, “Yes, Dr. Shah and I had a discussion but I never stated I wanted to move forward with that”. Her response in a snarky tone was, “ You sat here, in this chair, and we talked about a treatment plan, did that not happen?” I absolutely detest when a person asks me a question and I give a clear answer so there is no miscommunication and then said person wants to get snippy. I will continue to go there however I refuse to be seen by her again.

Fantastic experience: I never have had a poor experience here. Staff is polite and friendly, and Dr. Shah is great. She gave me the best care and referrals, and saved me a lot of money by thoroughly discussing treatment options with me. I would easily consider referring friends and family.

The hygienist is very friendly, and of the two dentists I've met, they are very professional and welcoming. You're treated with respect every step of the way. The parking lot and waiting rooms are very clean, and so is the interior of the building. If you're looking for a new dentist, I highly highly highly recommend starting here!!!!

Staff is so nice and professional but yet makes u feel so relaxed. Dr. Shaw is wonderful and patient and so kind to her patients . Fantastic experience: Great dentists! I moved to the area approximately 3 years ago. I did my research to identify local dentist that is covered by my insurance and will address my needs. I was with my previous dentist in the Chicago area for 10 years. I am glad I found Dr. Shah and Dr. Ujaoney. They are outstanding dentists. Dr. Shah addresses my regular needs and educates me further on things to look out, while Dr. Ujaoney with assistance from Jaudon took care of my crown and also referred me to a great endodontic for root canal. The dental hygienists Harmony and Christina are great in doing their job and to talk. Their office team is great in their jobs and friendly. The team sends messages if there are other appointments available around my scheduled appointment which I appreciate because sometimes I want that earlier appointment. Once I sat down in the chair the first young lady made me feel very at ease. I could not believe how kind everybody was. You can see everyone smiling behind their masks with their eyes. The dentist was very gentle. And concerned about my well-being. That is appreciated. The hygienist was super fun. She kind of made me look forward to my next visit with her. All in all it was a great experience and I have no problem going back. The office is very nice and sanitary as well. They even give you goodies to go home with. I highly recommend this office for your dental care.

Fantastic experience: Dr Ujaoney has been my dentist for several years now. She does really beautiful work, a number of my front teeth needed crowns and you would never know they weren't my real teeth, except maybe because they're rather perfect. She takes care and she truly cares about her patients. I'm really grateful to have found her.

Positive experience: The staff is nice and the dentist but their system is off where I go every five months and don’t take any new insurance. What system are they using.

Fantastic experience: I've been there a few times recently and I've been impressed. I've never had to wait more than a couple minutes before they take me back. The dentist is great. She's very kind and friendly and has done good work on my teeth. The dental assistants are also good. Some of the admin staff don't seem very welcoming/happy, but that's about the only complaint I can come up with.
