Fantastic experience: I am very happy since the last 13 years with Dr Nolan Chun and his staff. Pam my hygienist is very professional and at the same time kind and careful. I particularly appreciate this as I have sensitive teeth and have had issues in the past (with a different dentist/hygienist) with pain during and after dental appointments.

Fantastic experience: I've been seeing Dr. Chun at Evanston Dental Care for ten years now. I've had two cavities filled and 20 cleanings at this practice. I love his staff, his caring nature and sense of humor. Issues are tracked carefully; I never feel like anything comes up out of the blue. He is also responsible for the fact that I floss my teeth with some regularity. He recommended that I floss while I am in the shower, and that habit bundling technique has worked for me. No one likes having their mouth drilled into, but when it has to be done, I trust Dr. Chun to make it as pain-free and easy as possible.

Fantastic experience: ​UPDATE (April 2026): I continue to drive over 90 minutes and take time off work just to see Dr. Chun because he is a literal lifesaver! I recently had a whitening treatment that left my front bonding looking a bit off. I had them rebonded previously and even had someone else try to fix a specific imperfection I noticed, but they had no luck. For nearly a year, I felt like the bonding was slightly larger at the bottom, making my whole smile look crooked. ​Dr. Chun immediately saw exactly what I was talking about. He validated my concerns instantly and was able to fix it within minutes, saving the day. Your front teeth are the center of your face, and it is so rare to find a dentist with the talent to see those tiny gradient details and the skill to execute your vision perfectly. My smile is back to looking 10/10 and I couldn’t be happier! ​Original Review (3 years ago): I drive an hour to continue to get exceptional dental services from Dr. Chun! My front teeth broke when I was a child and no one makes the bonding look so perfect and natural. Dr. Chun always puts my best interest first and has continued to impress me. I've been a customer for years and will always be!! I forgot my insurance card today because I recently got a new job. They said don't worry about payment just send us your insurance card next week. I received services and was on my way. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! I can’t stop smiling after visiting Dr. Chun because my teeth look so great.

Fantastic experience: Evanston Dental Care provides great service! I have been attending Evanston Dental Care for 16+ years (maybe longer), and it continues to be a wonderful experience! I found Dr. Chun and his team after visiting another dentist who said I needed extensive dental work. Thankfully, I got a second opinion. I had two cavities back then and only one other cavity in those 16+ years! It is always the Cadillac treatment from the whole staff! On a visit this week, he said I can eat all the candy apples I want, as long as I keep brushing and floss. That is confidence and results you want from a dentist!

The team is friendly from the minute you walk through the door, thorough in all types of work, and knowledgeable about various issues around costs and services. So we are glad he is here and that he and his staff work so hard to make us feel welcome! For us, it’s worth it to drive a bit further to get here, and we will continue to come back. Negative experience: I am incredibly upset with the level of care I received at this dental office. My fiancé started going to this dentist and really liked him so l decided to give him a shot. The first visit was well over an hour long and I wasn't given a time estimate when scheduling so I needed to leave before they could do a full cleaning and the dentist made a remark about my "poor planning." Funny how my fiancé, a man with insurance, was in and out within 30-45 mins of his first appt but I was left waiting and chastised for my planning. They found a bad cavity in my first appt so l at least wanted to get that fixed and had already paid out of pocket for X-rays and the cleaning, so at that point it was probably sunken cost fallacy. My first visit, they had said "either a filling or a root canal" was needed for that tooth, I come back for the filling and am told "either a white filling or a silver one." I have had several bad cavities in my life and have always been able to get a white filling, so this is a completely new thing to me, I have no idea what a silver filling is and am not told what it is or any side effects or things that can happen with one until AFTER IT IS IN MY MOUTH. I assumed that at some point he would've said "yeah no there's no way we can do a white filling here, I'll proceed with the silver one, here's all the info about that." Nope. Just "all done, by the way I had to do the silver one, don't worry it's a good blend of metals and it's cheaper". I've been paying out of pocket for all of this and if he had asked, he would know I'm not at all concerned about cost for my teeth, I can cover a white filling if I needed to. So I paid $350 for a filling that I found out is made of Mercury and some metals I'm allergic to AFTER it was placed and then told that if it causes pain that we might need to do a root canal anyway. WHY DIDN'T WE JUST DO THE ROOT CANAL THEN?? So now l've paid $350 for a filling I'm looking to get removed by a different dentist and about $900 for all of my care there and nothing to show for it. Meanwhile my fiancé, again a man with insurance they accept, has only had good things to say and feels informed and affirmed in his choices there. I truly can't figure out if it's because I've been self paying or if it's just good old fashioned sexism that got me this level of treatment but either way, I will never be back.

Fantastic experience: I love bringing my daughter here every 6months for her teeth cleaning. Front desk staff, dental assistants and Dr. Chun are always so professional. The location is clean and well lit.

Negative experience: Service is fine, BUT make sure you do not automatically get services not covered by your insurance. This has happened to me at least three times: first fluoride, then some sort of scan, and another time fluoride without asking if I wanted it. Maybe an issue with the new employees. Given the insurance landscape is complex, providers should try to be as clear as they can to better serve patients, instead of waiting for patients to learn and pay the cost.

Fantastic experience: My husband and I were desperate for a new dentist as we had become increasingly dissatisfied with the care we were receiving from another dentist. We happily found Evanston Dental Care - and we could not be more pleased! Dr. Chun is thorough, professional, friendly and meticulous. I had previously had frequent trouble with gum issues, sometimes needing antibiotics to clear up infections. All of that has gone away since I have been seeing Dr. Chun. His cleaning alone is far superior than any I have had before. I highly recommend Dr. Chun and Evanston Dental Care. If I could give even more stars, I would :)
