Fantastic experience: My appointment was very well handled. My care was provided with care, compassion and concern for me and honesty on my results. My hygienist, made me feel comfortable and relaxed professional care with ease. My dentist I would not replace her with no one else. She took very good care of me and discussed what was needed. May 13th. Another very pleasant experience. Dr Thompson covered for Dr Cutler for my crown replacement. She and her procedure assistant took time with me, explained each step, answered questions when I needed them to. Professional and personal throughout the entire visit. Thank you both . My July 2nd appointment was going well at first. They began my service, then the equipment had a tumble. Just an accident. Towards the end, after re.oving and placing the crown, I thought it was p ermanent. I kept hearii ng temporary and asked what he meant? I found out then that it was another temporary. It was explained that way on my last visit. It was not clearly explained and I had to figure out another date to take off. I was not pleased. Charges are adding to my visits. October. 7th appointment: My hygienist and my dentist a m ways give me excellent treatment. The staff always greet everyone with a lasting experience. Thank you everyone!! April 14, 2026 They are always compassionate, a welcome smile, understanding and accommodating to anyone's changes. I love my dentist office!

Negative experience: Wish I could give zero stars but the one star will be for the actual medical professionals because they are excellent, the doctors and the dental hygienists are all absolutely wonderful but those two receptionists are thee worst RECEPTIONIST I’ve ever encountered. As a medical PROFESSIONAL myself, it’s very disheartening to see the HELP not be very helpful. Especially Ms. Gerry. I hope that she find a better job soon, maybe something that she enjoys because she seems to be a bit miserable, I’ve seen other negative reviews based on her customer service so I really don’t need to say much except that I will pray for you in the hopes that you receive enough happiness in your life one day to where all of that negative energy could fade away. The other receptionist is not AS bad but she feeds off of the negative one so she has no choice but to be just as poor in her customer service. I’ll pray for you as well. I’m sad to leave this office that I’ve been coming to for years because Dr. Swartz, Dr. Cutler and Ms. Toya are wonderful!!! Unfortunately I cannot deal with bad customer service, rudeness and passive aggression from the first people you see when you walk though the door. They will be the death of this office for surely. As for me and my family who also come here, we will find a new place to go, with all pleasant staff.

Negative experience: I’m a person that hated going to the dentist until I went here and met Dr. Swartz and the rest of the staff. For years every appointment I cried but I got through it because of their tenderness, compassion, patience, and grace!!! But the one thing that overshadows all of that is the receptionist Jeri!!! She has always been rude, unprofessional and condescending. I hate this for Dr. Swartz and Dr. cutler. I know this is nothing new for them to hear because I have read the reviews. The question is how many more clients are they willing to loose. Just lost my daughter today. Get her away from the front desk!!! Going to the dentist is traumatizing for a lot of ppl. They don’t need or deserve her nastiness.

I don’t know how they would let someone talk to a patient like that. They are so rude and only care about your money. My family started going there is now immediately leaving there practice.

Positive experience: Have been a long time member and always had 100% dental cleaning coverage and now under Dr. Cutlar I am only 80% and the Dental website shows it 100% for Schwartz and Thompson

Negative experience: I showed up for my cleaning appointment today, Veterans Day, and was told that I had canceled it. I did not. The clerk checked her notes and indicated that my wife had canceled it, she did not. My wife has never been authorized to manage my care and had canceled her own appointment due to the rude, unprofessional behavior of Jerry. I think that Jerry may have canceled mine, without notifying me, out of spite. We have been coming to this office for about twenty years, even making the hour drive each way after we moved out of the area. It's disheartening to be treated this way after all of these years, especially being a disabled veteran on Veterans Day.

The dentist was very thorough on going over everything with me and explain different options I can't remember her name but she was very polite and kind. It was definitely worth the travel to their facility and look forward to my follow-up visit. When you go to a dentist they seem to be a little bit of judgmental about your teeth this facility didn't treat you that way they treated you with respect and kindness and they were glad that I came in It was a very enjoyable experience definitely look forward to going back I would highly recommend giving them a call they'll treat you with respect and not neglect. Negative experience: This is a follow up of a review I gave earlier about Fortson Dentistry in Oak Park. I didn’t need deep teeth cleaning, Just regular teeth cleaning. Dental Hygienist at Fortson only have 2 years experience, the Dental Hygienist I see now has 11 years experience. And when I went to Fortson Dentistry as I said before the Dentist was on leave, and just had someone filling in for her and Dental Hygienist with no Dental degree suggesting things, and the office Manager, was the closer like in Sales!

Gerri, the Receptionist went above and beyond, and Dr Thompson was extremely gentle and thorough with what she was going to do, her assistance was great as well. I will be returning! 5/1 Katie who was working the desk today was up front and about costs. She provided me with a full print out and went through it line by line with me. I can't say enough about Fortson dental.

Negative experience: Went to get teeth clean. Dental Hygienist said I needed a deep cleaning which would cost me a lot more money. I told her am getting medical care in a couple of months where I won’t have to pay out of pocket. Dental Hygienist then went and got the office manager, that told me if I don’t sign a piece of paper where they can get paid now I would have to be taken off the patient list. She couldn’t wait 2 months for my Medicare to kick in. So I told her to take me off the Patient list! She seem desperate for money. Well my whole family goes there so their losing more than just my account. Can’t wait to tell the Dentist when she comes back from medical leave, about the incompetence in her office. Bottom line I have a new Dentist and advise you not to go there.

Fantastic experience: I had my teeth cleaned on Thursday, 11/14/24 @ Fortson Dentistry by Elizabeth. She is the best hygienist. She is very warm & friendly. I feel like I am visiting a friend when I go for my cleaning. We always hug each other and try to catch-up before she gets started. She does an excellent job with cleaning my teeth! I want to say she has been cleaning my teeth for almost 3 years now. We talk & laugh even while she is cleaning my teeth and I honestly always look forward to getting my teeth cleaned by Elizabeth! I make sure that she is going to be there when I schedule my next appointment. Even if I need to do better with flossing in a certain area, she kindly & gently let's me know without making me feel bad. :) So if you're looking for an excellent hygienist who does a great job and is super friendly, personable, warm, & will make you feel comfortable, she is the one to ask for!

Dr Schwartz was absolutely wonderful. She didn’t rush through the process and made sure I was comfortable every step of the way. Dr. Schwartz and Toya completely the process and I didn’t have any discomfort. I highly recommend Dr. Schwartz at Fortson in Berkley for all your dental needs.❤️
