Fantastic experience: DR. SLOOP is a gifted practitioner who is considered, by her patients and other professionals, as one of the best in the field of dentistry. She is unique in the depth of her caring, dedication and kindness to each of her patients. Her practice is a blessing to us all.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Sloop has been my dentist for decades. She and her staff are skilled, cordial, and professional. I trust Dr. Sloop to do excellent work and dispense good advice about dental procedures.

Negative experience: AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Dr. Sloop’s dental work has plagued me for the past 6 years. I had never had a cavity and my first visit with her she insisted I needed 4 preventative fillings. Being 22, I didn’t think to question my dentist. I have since had 2 separate dentists comment on how unnecessarily deep her fillings were. Since changing dentists, I have not had a single cavity, but have had to get two crowns ($1500 each) one at age 23 and one at age 28 to replace the fillings she did. I have been told that she should have never taken that much tooth for a first time filling. If she had left enough tooth, I wouldn’t have needed a crown and the filling would have been able to be maintained. It is clear all of the less than 5 star reviews are getting removed on google. And even the 5 star reviews say how “Sloop has been my dentist for decades and she has given me 8 crowns.” Anyone else think this is a little suspicious? She was very kind and easy to talk to in person, but it seems she was setting me up for dental disaster so she can pocket that crown $$$. Thankfully I moved away and got another dentist but have unfortunately been dealing with and paying for the repercussions of her dentistry ever since.

One awesome thing about Dr. Sloop that I will always remember is the time I had my wisdom teeth removed. She saw how upset and nervous I was about having that done; so she sent me to a dentist that could give me medicine to put me to sleep while the wisdom teeth were being removed. Later that night I received a phone call and wondered who could be calling me. To my surprise, it was Dr. Sloop calling to check on me, she wanted to make sure I was doing ok and not having any problems. I knew then I had found the most WONDERFUL dentist ever!!! Thank you Dr. Sloop and your wonderful team!! I rate them 10 stars!!!

She is kind and considerate and always prepares you for what is about to happen (like a needle for Novocaine). I've moved away from Chapel Hill and still, I will travel to see her for dentistry. Dr Sloop has been our family dentist for years and she and her staff are excellent. My 86 year old mother looks forward to every chance she has to see Dr Sloop - so if anyone can be excited about getting their teeth cleaned, that's a solid 5 stars!

She is a terrific dentist, whether providing a semi-annual check-up or ensuring I understand the options for repairing a tooth or putting in a crown. Due to a bad dental experience at age 18 in Durham, I am very anxious about appointments. Dr. Sloop and her staff take extra care to ensure I am comfortable and well cared-for during every appointment, which I really appreciate! From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel comfortable and at ease. My dentist, Dr. Sloop and her hygienist were friendly and professional, and I immediately felt like I was in good hands. During the cleaning, Candace (I hope I am writing her name correctly) was very thorough and paid close attention to every detail. She was gentle yet effective, and I could feel the difference in the cleanliness of my teeth afterwards. What I appreciated most, however, was her explanation of how I could take better care of my dental hygiene going forward. Candace took the time to explain the importance of brushing and flossing daily, and also provided some helpful tips for maintaining good oral health. She showed me how to properly floss and brush, and she recommended some products that would be beneficial for my specific needs. Overall, I couldn't be happier with my experience at the dentist. Dr. Sloop and her staff were professional, knowledgeable, and attentive to my needs. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a great dental experience. Negative experience: Rushed exams, argumentative when asked for clarification. Repeatedly recommends unnecessary expensive procedures and overcharges on insurance plans. Kudos to the dental techs; never had a bad cleaning there. But look for a more caring dentist elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: Best dentist ever. Dr Sloop and her staff are all wonderful. They truly care about their patients, and on more than one occasion when I have had issues in my mouth, Dr Sloop was the one to finally solve the problem. Better than my regular doc, and better than the ENT! The hygienists are great, and she is a master at making the most beautiful crowns. Truly they are the best we’ve ever experienced. They are a bit more expensive, but worth it.

She is also very personable and always asks how my family is doing. I also have Tricia as my hygienist there and she does a wonderful job of cleaning my teeth and is also very personable. Both Dr. Sloop and Tricia give me good advice on how to take care of my teeth. In short, I highly recommend Dr. Sloop's dental practice.

I waited in my car until she was ready for me. They called me, met me at the office door, took my temperature, and then took me directly to the exam room. Everyone in the office had on the proper personal protective equipment, and the office was spotless clean. Between each patient, everything was cleaned and disinfected. Dr. Sloop and her staff did everything right to protect the health and safety of her patients.
