Fantastic experience: After one of the most difficult and heartbreaking experiences of my life with dental work that went terribly wrong at another practice, I honestly wasn’t sure I would ever smile with confidence again. I walked into Avon Village Family Dentistry feeling defeated, anxious, and uncertain if anyone could fix what had been done. From my very first appointment, they treated me with compassion, patience, and understanding. They listened to my concerns without judgment, carefully evaluated everything, and explained each step of the process. For the first time in a long time, I felt heard and hopeful. What impressed me most was that they never took shortcuts. They were meticulous, honest, and committed to doing things the right way, even when it meant undoing and rebuilding work that should never have been done in the first place. Fantastic experience: The absolute BEST dental office in the area. They are kind and HONEST. They want to protect your teeth, not drill & fill unless it’s absolutely necessary. Before coming here my previous dentists said I had a “cavity” every single time I went, but since I’ve been coming here, for the last 3 years, I have not had any. I’m sure at some point I may have another, but at least I know coming here that it will be a real one. So happy my sister recommended me to come here!

Fantastic experience: My appointment today was scheduled for a second opinion. From the moment I entered the office I was extremely happy. The office was very clean and comfortable. The receptionist was warm and greeting. I was seated within moments of arriving. Dr. Mesloh listened to my issues completely, and gave a very thorough explanation of the problem and how to resolve it. The assistant was very helpful and kind. An extremely well oiled machine!! Fantastic experience: Was scheduled for a new patient appointment in April 2026, but needed to be seen on an emergent basis after a crown popped off. The practice got me in first thing in the morning even though I not yet had my first appointment. Dr. Weston took great care of me, helping me understand my options. Friendly, kind and professional. Fantastic experience: I’ve been a patient here for 12+ years- since Dr. Sagalyn. They do great work, even when I slack on my dental health a bit! (I got my first filling recently- quick and easy) The staff is efficient, highly competent, and provides solid education on dental health. They are also very personable and have a great memory for their patients/pay attention to making good relationships. The services for appointment reminders are very helpful for me and can be adjusted to your preference. The office has expanded in the time I’ve been here to what feels like more than double the size, and in my opinion, they deserve it. *edit: I checked their website to properly describe the filling. It was the composite filling for a pinhole cavity done by Dr. Mesloh.

Fantastic experience: Everyone at Avon Village Family Dentistry is amazing. They are not only the most excellent professional staff I have ever encountered but they are also kind, patient and extremely caring. I recently moved out of state and now travel three hours each way to continue with their practice and it is 100% worth it! I have anxiety around dental procedures and Dr. Mentasti bends over backward to make me feel comfortable. She makes sure I am understand the procedure and is an incredibly skilled dentist whom I trust immensely. Marissa, my dental hygienist, is also excellent. She skillfully explains everything she is doing while she’s doing it and makes the entire process comfortable and stress-free. Marissa asks a lot of questions so she can uncover any dental issues and help you the best she can. She does a great job at cleaning your teeth and is also extremely kind and caring.

Fantastic experience: I have always gone to my family dentist but after he retired I was left searching for a new one and in a new area since I moved last year. I came across this place and honestly if I could give them 10 stars I would! I had a cleaning that took much longer than normal because of my old dentist neglecting things that he shouldn’t have and making me believe these problems were normal. I was so embarrassed to find out they weren’t , but the doctor and his assistant made me feel so comfortable and helped educate me and even staid past closing to make sure I left happy. Negative experience: Used to love this office but they rejected me as a patient when after a crown my gum receded and I had excruciating pain still from that tooth. They got tired of me… Now I go to All Smiles in Windsor Locs where they got to the cause of my pain! I had a cavity in the tooth next to the crown and I will need to have my crown redone at a later point from the job they did due to the gap. To be fair I did cancel a few of my dental appointments at Avon because my boss was not liking I had to leave work so often for a dentist appointment. It came down to my job or my health at that point. I also brought my mom and my dad to their practice as patients. They still let me go.. and I still had the tooth pain!! I felt so abandoned… it was the worst feeling and I hope when I open my own medical practice one day NONE of my patients will ever feel like that. It’s not good business.
Fantastic experience: TEN STARS!! I have been a patient of this office since 1992. They just keep getting better!! They are on top of all the latest technology and techniques. I have had the full range of procedures from implants (accident /trauma to front teeth) crowns and cleanings. Every procedure I have had always exceeds my expectations. I have always felt that they have my health and well being as their top priority! Any emergency is handled promptly and efficiently. All of the dentists and hygienists are TOP NOTCH, professional and extremely gentle and kind ! Many of the staff have been employed there for a very long time and they really enjoy working there. That speaks to the quality of management and their genuine care for their employees! This is the BEST practice in the area!!!

Fantastic experience: After moving to Litchfield County this summer, I made a new patient appointment with Dr. Mentasti based solely on great Google reviews. My experience during my first appointment this week lives up to the high expectations. I was greeted as soon as I walked in, and promptly brought to a room for my appointment. Dr. Mentasti introduced herself and took time to get to know my dental history. She then performed my first cleaning personally, and did an excellent job. The building is super clean, the equipment is up-to-date. The thing that most impressed me is the practice’s conservative approach to treatment. So many dentists today feel compelled to “overtreat” and propose treatment plans to drive revenue. I do not believe that is the case at Avon Village Family Dentistry - they prioritize your care over their revenue. I believe that my family will receive the best dental care available with Dr. Mentasti and her staff, and I am grateful to be a patient here.

Fantastic experience: The AVFD practice went above and beyond recently to accommodate my needs. They provided or arranged the treatment for my dental problem in a professional, timely, caring manner. I was seen by AVFD the same day I called with tooth pain, the office then arranged for me to see the endodontist that afternoon. This was lifesaving as it was a Friday and I didn’t have to wait days before getting my pain treated. Unfortunately it was discovered the type of fracture I had meant the tooth required extraction. I was evaluated by a local oral surgeon the next week, their office said the next available date was 2 months away! A month later the pain returned, Dr Weston attempted to have the original oral surgeon schedule an urgent appointment. When that was not accommodated Dr Weston was able to arrange an extraction with Dr Emily King that day. I would also give a 5 ***** rating to Dr Kings’ West Hartford Oral Surgery practice !

From the first call to Nick who answered all my questions and the nice young lady at the desk that got our paperwork and insurances all dialed in painlessly....I could pretty much tell we were going from a night to day experience! Beautiful office and facility and to both our surprise, we actually saw our dentist for our first visit and cleaning which sounds like the standard for new patients. I had Dr Mentasti and her assistant today for the first time,and they were both awesome and personal and made you feel right at home! No rushing around like there was a deadline to meet, which was also refreshing. I had a thorough cleaning and check up which was totally painless!!!... Very impressed, as was my wife, with this office. Confident we made a great choice, and now I see why this office got such rave reviews by both the magazine and online...Nice to not have to dread the dentist anymore! She was very good and meticulous and as nice as every one else in the office!
