Fantastic experience: Cheng dental is honestly such a good dentistry. They’ve helped me with a cavity that needed a root canal and during that process, they were so nice and very attentive. I now have a crown that’s permanent. It’s a nice wholesome place you should definitely come here!!

Positive experience: Very friendly and nice staff, straightforward with information and help. Would recommend them to others in the area. With my anxiety and not having seen a dentist in awhile, I feel better since visiting them. Had to get fillings and a root canal, they did the job well but with some lingering pain. Edit: Went back to them about late January, early February for teeth pain, they told me everything was fine but as of now I am still having throbbing pain some days. Will be seeing about a second opinion if another visit doesn't help improve anything.

Negative experience: Will never go back. I started here because Cheng dental was the only dentist I could find that took my insurance. He put a crown on a front tooth. That crown became loose. Because he is 45 min from my house I went to Konikoff just to get an idea of what was going on. It needed to be removed and a new crown put on. So that I didn’t have to pay out of pocket I went back to Cheng dental. He was so rude. Said once he pulls the crown off it will break the post and he will extract the rest and I would leave with no front tooth. Told him the options Konikoff said and he pretty much laughed in my face. I left. Went back to Konikoff. She cut the crown off so that there was no pulling pressure on the post. When she got the crown off she saw the post Dr Cheng put it was one, too small and two, it has broke at the tip. She was able to remove the post. Put the proper size post in and build off that and put a new crown on. I paid out of pocket but I left with my tooth. Something Dr Cheng didn’t care to save.

Fantastic experience: Dr.Chang is amazing I havent had dental work done in years because of fear but Dr.Chang definitely knows what his doing! Everything was painless..

Fantastic experience: I am utterly shocked at how well my last dental treatments went. I live around Richmond VA and I needed 3 root canals, needed an endodontist according to my regular dentist (happy smiles in RVA). Unfortunately, I couldn't find one in the area that takes my insurance so I got this name off a referral sheet provided by my dentist. When I got there, I was sketched out bc it's a tiny office in the corner of a run down looking shopping center and the dentist WASN'T an endodontist but I figured I'd be made the list of recommended providers then it must have been for a good reason. It was. I have a connective tissue disorder and I'm novacaine resistant due to it, which I advised the dentist. I didn't feel a thing. I left each appointment certain that I was about to be in excruciating pain (bc of past experiences... I just thought that was how it went) and I never was. My crowns look GREAT! I was on a time crunch too and they met my deadline with a few days to spare just in case I needed adjustments, which I haven't. I will definitely be driving the 1.5hrs it took me to get there anytime in the future for any work I need. Can't praise this place enough!

Fantastic experience: I was referred to Dr. Cheng for a root canal. I had the best dental experience in all my years, starting with the front office, x-rays, quick appointment times , state of the art equipment, tv in each room to help patients relax, I can go on and on. I was nervous, but Dr. Cheng and his associates eased my dental anxiety, educated me on every thing they were doing. I got the numbing gel and I NEVER felt the shots or pain, I was so shocked. Dr. Cheng did my root canal and crown, and 3 fillings (all my work done in 3 weeks/2 appts). I was told "we are in the business of saving teeth" and I agree. He is very efficient, personable and the BEST dentist in Hampton hands down!

Fantastic experience: If you’re looking for a quick, friendly and professional dentist, Cheng Dental in Hampton, VA is the place and they accept Medicare and Medicaid. From my first appointment, I was in and out within 30 minutes, to my second appointment for a couple of fillings and one extraction, everything was very efficiently done. The staff and Dr. Cheng is super friendly and knowledgeable. I am very satisfied with the service and I highly recommend them for your dental needs!

Negative experience: Was told over the phone that they take my dental insurance. Spent time filling out thier online forms. They then called me for an emergency appointment scheduled the next day. Got another call about an hour later saying they don't take my insurance.

Fantastic experience: Wow! Can I just say WOWW. Dr. Cheng and his staff (front staff included) is GREAT! I wish I could afford to buy all you guys an edible arrangement. My first scheduled appt, I went in because I had excruciating pain.. ended up needing a whole lot of work done after my xray lol. Which I’m not surprised - please don’t neglect your oral health like I did. Anyway, I’ve been nervous, scared, full of anxiety about the dentist since I was a lil girl. Dr. Cheng always made sure I was comfortable and pain free even when I felt pain he numbed it more and when I say pain free! They have tv’s in the room to watch a show if you’d like. All my appointments were great. I really have NO complaints, and I’m so thankful I found a dentist where I didn’t feel judged or embarrassed. Might I add I had about 4-5 different appts (lol) and it was a breeze! The front staff is SO friendly, and I love that they remember Ms. Allen! Keep up the great work! Thank you thank you thank you!

Fantastic experience: I had all of my wisdom teeth removed here and the experience was super smooth. Dr. Cheng and the entire team were incredibly professional, kind, and attentive. They made sure I was comfortable every step of the way and explained the entire process clearly, which really helped ease my nerves. The extraction itself was quick and surprisingly painless, and the recovery was smooth thanks to the detailed aftercare instructions. I had minimal swelling/discomfort and overall felt great afterwards. If you're looking for a trustworthy, skilled dentist, I highly recommend Dr. Cheng.

Negative experience: Waited almost 2 hrs after being called to the back. Pretty sure the numbing meds are wearing off now. This place needs to do better and not booking up the schedule so much that he has no time to complete his appts. I almost walked out!! Cheng dental do BETTER PLS! And they saw people that had a later appt before me!! Is it an insurance thing or something else!!!!!

Negative experience: Very nice environment. Unprofessional front desk. We called them at the end of last year and they confirmed they took our insurance. My wife got a cleaning done and really enjoyed the environment. In December, I was in need of two crowns and got X-rays to verify. I was then told by the front desk that they would wait until Jan. 5th to process with insurance to make sure they would cover it and because their office was closing for Holiday break. They also said it could take up to 8 weeks for approval. Some months go by and I call up to set up a cleaning and to inquire about the crowns. The lady who answered the phone was new and didn’t know what to do. She handed the call off to another lady. When I asked about why I hadn’t heard back from anyone she explained we owed them money for my wife’s cleaning and my x-ray. I said, both of those are covered annually. She explained she sent us a bill. I told her we did not receive one. I told her that I would call her back in a few to settle my bill. My wife called our insurance and they explained that this dentist was out of network which is why we were being billed. I understand that, noted for next time. We explained that the front desk told us they took our insurance. The rep said, unfortunately that is a common thing and that the follow up question should be “are you in network” because some offices have no problem saying they take your insurance to get you in the door. My wife then called the office back and said she wanted to pay our bills. The lady’s first words were, “Yeah your insurance really sucks.” To which my wife responded, “Actually, it doesn’t, you guys are out of our network. You guys told us you took our insurance and that’s why we went with you.” She then said, “Oh, I’m sorry, that’s my fault, I’ll just wipe your cleaning bill. We used to be in network with them.” We were still required to pay my x-ray bill. My tension isn’t having to pay the bill, that was done. It was the unprofessional manner in which the lady communicated and misrepresented their office. You should know what insurance your business takes and whether it’s in network or not. There should also be a follow up process for payments. Most companies know who is 30,60,90 days out. This could have been solved within 30 days. I can’t give them a 1-Star because the other staff and the environment are very nice. But I would say training for the front desk is needed. You should never start a conversation off with, “Yeah, your insurance really sucks.” Perhaps management should listen to the call if you record them.

Fantastic experience: My son had to have an emergency root canal done and have a tooth replaced. I was completely shocked at how fast my son was able to be seen and taken care of. The same day service was beyond awesome!! Dr. Cheng and his staff were not only professional but extremely friendly. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: I was referral here by my daughters dentist in Greenbrier Chesapeake. I drove 48 Minutes away just to see Dr. cheng. The staff, atmosphere and Everything just felt like home. I was so happy that they were able to see my daughter in such a short period of time. Fantastic experience: As you can see my teeth are pretty bad and I went in for fillings and came out with my teeth looking filled and from the wedges they used it made my teeth straighter a tooth up top was kind of behind my front tooth and as you can see in the pictures some how with the wedges it fixed it all I need is to whiten my teeth now and they are almost perfect and not only was I satisfied with how my teeth turned out but I had anxiety going in and they talked me through it and made me very comfortable I would chose them over any dentist in Va

Fantastic experience: I have had an amazing experience with Cheng Dental. I have Trigeminal Neuralgia (very rare chronic pain condition that affects my teeth and face), TMJ, and dental trauma from years ago, the team at Cheng Dental have been absolutely amazing. I needed a root canal, lots of fillings, a crown and night guard. Dr. Cheng and his team worked so well with me, answered all my questions, and put me at ease. The receptionists are the sweetest and everyone knows who I am, and calls me by my first name. :) A special shout-out to Amka, she is AMAZING and so patient. Highly recommend Cheng Dental!

Fantastic experience: Update #1: they do offer nitrous. Update #2: Sai is an AMAZING tech. He's my favorite tech; he is such a sweet person. He & Dr Cheng both talk me through what they're doing (i.e. "little pinch of the needle" - read the rest of this review for more about needles/shots), they bothh recognize & acknowledge when my anxiety is getting the better of me - Sai even reminded me to count to 10 & take deep breaths during an extraction. 10/10 AMAZING staff I came to Cheng Dental after 2 years of not seeing a dentist. Covid made it hard & I already have dental anxiety. Unfortunately Cheng Dental doesn't do laughing gas, but I medicated at home & did just fine. Dr. Cheng is very good with giving shots - he even has this tool that vibrates your gums as he gives the shot, which I personally feel makes it hurt at lot less. Dr Cheng has always made sure I was VERY numb before working on me. So far I've had two root canals with him NO laughing gas. Dr Cheng & staff are warm, non-judgemental & actually listen to what you want & can afford.

Fantastic experience: Excellent service from the waiting room to the dentist chair. The dental tech Sai was extremely helpful as I began to have some pain when I first arrived. Both he and Dr. Cheng were caring and patient with me. Also I did not feel the needle because of a new technique to numb the area prior to fixing a chipped filling. They come highly recommended by me.

It was my first experience having to have a root canal and I was was so scared of having pain. I had been suffering with a painful molar for 3 weeks before I could find a specialist willing to make an appointment less than at least 2/3 weeks more waiting. The staff was kind and friendly. The office has the most up- to- date technology sparing me from having pain throughout the procedure! He even had classical music to make a Juilliard musician like me feel comfortable! Fantastic experience: Went there on a referral for a root canal. Dr. Cheng did some tests and found that no root canal was needed. Other specialists might have performed some unneeded procedure to make the fee, but Dr. Cheng showed high integrity and just sent me on my way. Entire staff was very professional and friendly.

Fantastic experience: First visit he pulled a tooth. Then today I had 7 fillings done in an hour. I have Severe anxiety and need sedation and this office is Great! Dr. Cheng is the Best dentist I've ever been to. Highly recommend going to him, especially if you have anxiety issues. I'll continue to go to him even though it's a drive for me. Awesome❤️

Fantastic experience: The staff is friendly and well mannored . Dr. Cheng is good at what he does . The staff is well informative and they like to be strategic to their approach in your specific dental needs everything is scheduled accordingly . I just wish he provided cleanings because im not too fond of having to go to another provider just for a cleaning . If Dr. Cheng bought cleanings into his practice that would truly be amazing !

Fantastic experience: It's been about 2 weeks sense I've gotten my crown for my root canal procedure and I haven't had anything abnormal occur with it so far. The staff, from who I've interacted with, were all very nice and helpful. In the Spring I came in for the first time for a root canal procedure and from the beginning I felt comfortable and heard. In addition, I noticed how nice everything looked visually. Later on when it was time for my actual procedure, I didn't feel uncomfortable or feel abnormal pain. A few weeks later I was having some concerns, they checked me in the very next day and reassured me that it was normal and explained what was going on in a clear and understandable way. In addition to this, they even were able to move the final part of the procedure (the crown) up to the very next day instead of weeks later like originally planned, in which it went smoothly as well. Again, I want to emphasize the friendliness of the staff. The staff at the front desk were very helpful, especially Diamond who I talked to the most, the nurse I had, Kenya, who was super kind, and the dentist, William Cheng, who explained everything in a clear and understandable way. What makes or breaks an establishment like this (like a medical office) for me is the people behind it, and everyone I talked to helped create the great experience I had. Overall, my experience thus far has been great and I feel this is a safe and helpful place I can come back to and recommend to my family.

Fantastic experience: The doctor at Chang dental did an amazing job on my husband. My husband has a severe fear of needles and he was able to get five root canals and two fillings done all in one sitting. I really appreciate this Chang dental awesome job.

Fantastic experience: I've visited Dr. Cheng for the last 2 years. He is prompt, does a great job of explaining the procedures, and is consistent with approach. Lately, he did the my daughter’s resin filling with reasonable price and the cleaning as well and it was FABULOUS!! and she said pain FREE! With past other dentists, giving shots has been painful and multiple shots have been required. This has never occurred with Dr. Cheng. At first, my daughter was pretty nervous about getting her two resin done but doctor was very kindly educational and confident which was reassuring that it would all go just fine! Oh, and what was most reassuring and satisfying was that the machines in the dental office were almost brand new, fairly expensive, top-of-the-line machines. This info was from an out-of-state dentist who recommended this dental. I have really enjoyed experience so far.The atmosphere is very friendly and family-like, not too office-like. The staff is very attentive and helpful. Tina helped me to start my treatment plan too and broke down everything that I needed to know from costs to how long my treatment plan was going to be. Overall, I recommend everyone to come here to start journey! :) My family did all through the appointment that this dental always making sure we’were doing alright and it was comfortable. Best dental experiences I've had if I'm being honest!

When I had questions about insurance and payment Diamond went out of her way to ensure I had the most up to date information and my pricing was accurate. Dr Cheng was knowledgeable and experienced as he spelled out all of our options. If you ever need dental work done this is the place to get it done.

Fantastic experience: I am super afraid and super nervous to go to the dentist. I just left after getting 5 cavities filled and didn't feel any pain. I am blown away I can't believe it. Kenya and Dr. Cheng were very nice and comforting to me. I have never been to a better dentist than this. I have OCD and they are very meticulous with there work. I would highly recommend this dentist they are a blessing for sure. Thank you so much for fixing my teeth. My other dentist wanted to put a cap on my one tooth and it wouldn't have been covered by my insurance and would cost me $850. Dr Cheng said all I needed was a filling for the cavity. I got 5 fillings and my insurance covered everything. They are very honest and do exceptional work. Why go anywhere else.
