Fantastic experience: Honestly this is one of the best and most friendly dentists I have ever been to, I am so happy to be a client now and I look forward to getting my teeth and oral health back on track so much the dentist was Awesome !!! And the staff was amazing Thank you! I highly recommend this office to anyone

Negative experience: I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Hampton Family Dentistry. I scheduled my appointment 20 days in advance, only to receive a call one day before my appointment stating that they do not accept my insurance. Insurance verification should be handled at the time of booking not the day before a scheduled visit. Waiting until the last minute shows poor administrative organization and complete disregard for a patient’s time. Many of us arrange work schedules, childcare, and personal commitments around medical and dental appointments. Canceling the day before creates unnecessary inconvenience and stress. If your office does not accept certain insurance plans, that information should be verified and clearly communicated well in advance and not 24 hours before the appointment. Unfortunately, this experience reflects a lack of professionalism and proper front-desk management. I hope the office improves its verification process so future patients do not experience the same issue.

Fantastic experience: We're new patients and I already know that we made the right choice to leave our previous Dr and come here for dental care. Dr Zack and the entire staff are welcoming, professional, happy and very very good at their craft which speaks volumes for what seems like an incredible work environment.

Fantastic experience: I have been at this office for quite some time. This is the second dentist I've had in Virginia, and by far the best! The previous place I went to missed a lot. Although my teeth are fairly healthy, they are very good at informing you of what you need and when you need it. They try hard to make sure it doesn't become an "emergency." I highly recommend this office to everyone, of all dentists I have visited across the E Coast this one is my fav by far.

I went in today feeling extremely anxious and nervous about having a cavity filled (including replacing an old metal filling), and I truly dreaded the appointment. From the moment I walked in, the entire team treated me with such kindness and understanding. Both the dentist and the dental hygienist were incredibly compassionate, professional, and patient. They took the time to explain everything, checked on me throughout the procedure, and made sure I was as comfortable as possible. They never rushed me or made me feel silly for being nervous. Instead, they handled my anxiety with genuine care and reassurance. It makes such a difference when a dental office treats you like a person and not just a patient. Today could have been a very stressful experience, but thanks to their calm and gentle approach, it turned out to be so much better than I expected. I’m truly grateful for the way they handled my visit and highly recommend Hampton Family Dentistry to anyone who feels anxious about dental work. You will be in kind, capable hands.

Fantastic experience: This was my first visit and notice that every person enjoyed being there. The lady who took my X-rays was very nice and understood that I required additional assistance because those bite things always hurt due to shape of my mouth and gums. The lady who cleaned my teeth I could tell she enjoyed what she does. The doctor also was great. He Listened then gave recommendations. Great experience!!

Fantastic experience: I've been coming here since 1997--new to Hampton I chose this practice because the yellow pages said "we cater to cowards" and that's me! This dental practice is first rate. Dr Hutchings takes the time to listen to me. I'm not just a set of teeth to impersonally work on; I'm treated respectfully in a friendly atmosphere. The technicians and staff are excellent and know their craft. Need a great dentist? This is the one to go to!

Fantastic experience: Have you ever tried different dentist, and you just didn't feel comfortable or convinced they had your best interest at heart? That changed for me when I became affiliated with Hampton Family Dentistry. They have a unique way of making you overcome fear, nervousness, pain, and even embarrassment. I actually prayed for a dentistry like them.

Positive experience: They do really good work, but out-of-pocket costs for certain procedures are notably higher than the area average. However, I do appreciate being able to be seen quickly for an urgent issue during the holidays.

If you're looking for a dental office that goes the extra mile, then look no further. I particularly enjoyed my deep clean with Pam and I never look forward to those things! She was very gentle and very considerate and never made me feel rushed or like I didn't matter just to get whatever she needed done done. She's my go-to from here on out whenever I can get her! The other staff members are great also, I just highly recommend Pam because of my personal experience today. Five stars!

Fantastic experience: Dr Hudgins is a great dentist, before I was terrified to go to the dentist, but Dr Hudgins is very gentle, nice and overall a great person which is very hard to find in a dentist, great work!

Fantastic experience: Was seen on an emergency visit crown fell out. Called was able get me in within 30 minutes and crown fixed with 20 minutes. Doc z was very nice and helpful. Explained the process as he went. The technician helping him was also very nice. Thank you so much for fitting me in. Always a pleasant experience when coming here.

Fantastic experience: I had a matter that my filling fell out so they saw me the next day and I found out I had 3 filling missing. The Doctor took care of 2 filling since the where on the same side and I’m coming back next week to fill the other one. Service was great and staff is very nice. I definitely enjoyed my visit.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Hutchinson has worked on five fillings for me and I have yet to experience any pain at all for any procedures. I honestly don’t even feel the needle to be numbed. He has an excellent chair side manner and is very efficient at what he does.

Fantastic experience: Contrary to most dental experiences, my visit with Dr. Hutchings at Hampton Family Dentristry was amazing. Upon entering the facility, I warmly greeted by the front office assistant who confirmed my appointment. Before I sat down, the dental hygienist immediately called me to the back to be assessed. After taking a few Xrays, a thorough dental evaluation was performed and after assessing my needs, I was evaluated by Dr. Hutchings. He assured me that my dental treatment plan was valid and was within the time frame to perform additional dental procedures. Afterwards, I received a teeth cleaning by the African American female dental hygienist. She was excellent. I have another 6 month evaluation in December. Overall, I was assured a clean bill of oral health. Please consult Hampton Family Dentistry and their entire dental staff for all of your dental needs. They treat you like family. You'll love them!

Same great experience. I was a little nervous about going because of the pandemic, but felt very safe while there. Great dentists, great staff!! Update 4/27/23. The usual great experience. Dr. Mike and his staff are so friendly and so professional, I couldn't ask for a better experience.9/15/25 As always, love Dr. Mike and his caring, professional staff. I hope he NEVER retires!

Fantastic experience: I love visiting this dental office. I’ve been coming here for about 5 years. The staff is super nice and professional. Dr. Hutchings is the best dentist I’ve ever encountered. He truly cares about his patients. On a few occasions after receiving fillings, he’s contacted me during the evening of the procedure just to check up on me and provide aftercare instructions. This is truly going above and beyond. I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else for my dental needs.

Fantastic experience: The staff in the reception area were courteous and friendly. The Assistant was very nice and gentle as she prepared me for the Doctor, who said hello to me by my name, he also remembered he worked on me over three years ago. Very nice, clean and friendly people who were there when I went there. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a good Dentist.

Negative experience: Just called to schedule an appointment. The lady that answered the phone didn't sound too pleasant. I just took it as sign to go somewhere else. No, I called this office. I called the office Thursday, not Friday.

Fantastic experience: Dr Hutchings and his staff are so wonderful I wish I would have known about this place sooner I’m so glad and blessed to have found Dr Hutchings if it wasn’t for him I might not have my wonderful wife of 40 years with me he went beyond his duties to encourage my wife to go see a doctor because he noticed that she got a bump on her tongue she had a biopsy done and it came back negative for cancer well, six months gone by and it hasn’t gone away so he told her again to get it recheck we actually went to see a different doctor and was told that it is cancer. she had 11 hours surgery .year and a half gone by and I still have her so I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart

Fantastic experience: This is one of the best dentists in the country! Prices are very reasonable. They accept Delta Dental insurance and will do their absolute best to do repairs instead of expensive procedures. They come up with a treatment plan, and in a few appointments you can have a new smile. Dr. Hutchings is so good he could do the work with his eyes closed. He is so experienced that dental work has become second nature, to a perfection level of skill. I'm telling you I have been to others and there is no comparison. I would drive 100 miles, and I usually do not write reviews either, that should tell you something. I had work done by them 20 years ago that is still in great shape. I wish I would have never went anywhere else. Don't make the same mistake I did. Get with Hampton Family Dentistry and stay with them.

Fantastic experience: Dr Hutchings constantly goes above and beyond for his patients. You can tell he genuinely cares about the health and care of his patients over anything else. He often calls later in the evening to check on your pain if you’ve had a procedure done and answer any questions or concerns you have. His entire demeanor is a big warm hug. Also Jenni, Denise, and the entire front office staff are amazing! They work tirelessly with Dr Hutchings to ensure you get in if you’re in any pain or have an emergency. He literally said to me once “I won’t go home until you’re taken care of.”

Fantastic experience: My dentist has no openings for an emergency tooth pain I was experiencing. I called Hampton Family Dental and they made feel cared for . Saw me the next morning and provided the care I needed !! I have found a new dentist for me and my family

Negative experience: Price gouging. A different office performed an extraction for $220 but I was quoted $350 here. Where did the big price difference come from? You already took days to call me back. If you didn’t want to complete the procedure you could’ve just said that.

Negative experience: The worst experience . Amanda made my visit very uncomfortable. She didn't clean my teeth properly. She wasn't friendly barely handle my concerns. She didn't change her gloves. She used the same gloves, typing on the computer looking in my mouth.

Negative experience: I scheduled appt weeks ago only to show up the day of and see the office close. I was advised the office was aware days before they would be close and the did not notify my. I tried to reschedule and was told an available date (may 4th), I shared concerns over the lack of communication after waiting almost a mth before the 1st failed appt and then the receptionist advised the May 4th date was no longer available. As a new patient this was not an ideal experience.

Fantastic experience: Today was my first visit. Front desk, Avis (assistant), and Amy (hygienist) were INFORMATIVE & WONDERFUL! Dr Michael Hutchings is AMAZING! I didn't even fill the extraction. I will definitely go back and recommend to others!

Fantastic experience: Waking up on Friday morning I knew there was something wrong with my tooth! Also, what was the name of the girl that? you what is the matter? What’s the matter what the matter dentistry? After calling family dentistry at 10 o’clock in the morning, they put me on the schedule for 2:30 in the afternoon worked me in had my teeth clean and my tooth extracted by five! Instant, pain relief! non-insured patient they had a good cash plan with a discount! When I left, I high-fived the doctor and her assistant! What a great visit
