Fantastic experience: My teeth were killing me! I recently had a crown done with a cavity that was under it yet they didn’t get all the cavity cleaned out. I came to Plaza Family Dental and they took care of all my teeth removed. All my old crowns that were on metal. I had to have a tooth pulled and a bridge done they don’t take any shortcuts. They do things right I was able to do everything under Ivy sedation. I’m extremely dental phobic and this was the way to go. This is the best team I’ve ever come across I love Plaza Family Dental and I wish them all the best in their future endeavors and as a business. I never thought I’d love my teeth so much

Negative experience: Completely different office. Felt like a used car lot. Constant upsell. Then to overhear other patients being scolded (almost heated) for declining the upsell and the dentist refusing a regular cleaning. Never heard anything like it before. There is no way a persons dental condition declines so rapidly in 6 months (barring some underlying condition) that they need a crazy expensive procedure to fix it. Nice to see that so many have figured this place out. Note to management: You better figure this out soon or you will lose a lot of customers! Keep in mind that customer dissatisfaction is only reported about 1 out of every 20 unhappy customers. Remember the customer is ALWAYS right. If you lose that mindset, you lose your customer. And this is what your patients are, customers.

Fantastic experience: I got my wisdom teeth taken out here and had an amazing procedure! everyone was so nice and helpful and my healing was amazing and nothing went wrong! i came in because one of the areas of my wisdom teeth was bothering me and inflamed and they helped me out, next day was feeling so much better! they were so gentle and professional! definitely coming back!!!!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a patient here for about 3 years, starting when it was Dr. Pham’s office and I’ve always had such a pleasant experience here! Since it’s been taking over by the new owners they’ve been so diligent in helping me really care for my dental hygiene in a way no other dental office has ever done for me before. I’ve learned so much and because of them I feel more confident in my smile than ever before! Everyone in the office is so sweet, from the receptionists, the hygienists, the doctor, and most of all Liz! She does so much for this office and handles everything and everyone with the care you’d expect from a loved one and she has so much energy I don’t know where it comes from but it rubs off on you and she really makes you feel so welcome and taken care of. Thank you to everyone in this office, I’ll be recommending you to all of my friends!

Negative experience: Not the Same Plaza Dental Anymore — Expect Big Upsells and Big Bills + 3% credit card surcharge I’ve been going to this dentist for about 10 years, and it used to be an honest, trustworthy practice. I visited with Dr Phan and she was so great! My recent visit under the new ownership was a completely different experience. I was suddenly told I was “losing bone density,” which made no sense considering my checkup six months ago showed nothing of the sort. Bone density does not disappear that quickly, and a simple Google search confirms that. It became clear they were trying to upsell me on a $1700 deep cleaning. When I declined, they refused to give me a regular cleaning and said they “couldn’t for liability reasons.” That was a major red flag. I also overheard similar conversations happening with other patients, all being pushed toward the same expensive treatment. Since for “liability reasons” I couldn’t do a normal cleaning They charged $169 for what used to be an $80 cleaning and sold me an unnecessary $50 mouth rinse. A basic saltwater rinse or oil pulling at home would have addressed what they claimed I had. They also add a 3% credit card surcharge. If you used to go to the old Plaza Dental, this is not the same office anymore. The new ownership feels sales-driven rather than patient focused. I strongly recommend getting a second opinion before agreeing to any treatment here.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been seen Dr. LeClair now for several months, ever since she took over the previous dental group. Her knowledge and skill is second to none, and I would recommend anyone and everyone to make an appointment and go see her. I recently had cosmetic dental work completed, and the reaction that I’m getting from friends, family, as well as people I just meet, has been overwhelming. I now have a movie star smile, and I am waiting for my first audition.

Fantastic experience: I had to change dentists and it’s not any easy task. Plaza Family Dental took my entire family in with quickly scheduled appointments. They are knowledgeable, efficient with time and quick with procedures. They also offer payment plans with a 3rd party outside of insurance coverage. But another important factor is the office has good happy vibes. I enjoy going into their office and can relax in their waiting room with yummy coffee options while kids are have cleanings, etc. It really does have a family feel!

Negative experience: I just had the same experience as the previous person who posted. I am not usually someone who will post a bad review, but I had been here many times over the last few years and never had a bad experience before. The latest was a different story. I also came in, was told that I needed a huge treatement (6 fillings and a crown) and was judged and pointed at as a person who doesn't take care of their teeth (when I'm pretty much the opposite), had the same experience of pretty much having to hear long histories that I have nothing to do with and was given a huge bill to start my treatment. I left the office with my head pounding to say the least. Decided to get a second opinion and was told a much different story (need 3 fillings and no crown) from a dentist who seemed to be in a better mental state and in and office that made me feel seen and where the info provided seemed to have more credibility. So, not coming back here.

Negative experience: I cannot recommend Plaza Family Dental or Dr. Safina LeClair. We moved to the area a year ago, had to find a new dentist and landed on Plaza Family Dental. During my first appt in February, I was told I had 5 cavities. I questioned this since I had only had 1-2 in the 6+ years I was with my previous dentist, but got them filled (3 were so small they didn't need numbing). In November, I came back to a cleaning to find Dr. LeClair had purchased the practice and was the only remaining dentist with almost all new staff. First they insisted I take new x-rays even though I had them done in February. Mid cleaning Dr. LeClair comes into the exam room in a flurry and starts fire-hose talking about how many cavities I have and how I would likely need a root canal with a crown, pointing out all of the issues on the x-rays. I ask how this could be possible since I take good care of my teeth and she rudly says "I don't know?!". I mention I would like a second opinion and she says "Get one! I feel like I am going crazy!". Note, she never actually looked in my mouth. After the cleaning, they make me go to a separate office with another woman who starts up the fire-hose information spewing again for over 15 min. She says the old dentists were "too afraid to hurt feelings" to tell people they needed this work done and she has to have these coversations with over 90% of their patients (a few of which I overheard). I finally agreed to an appointment (theoretically the first of many over the next 6 months) the next week, got my keys out of my bag and stood up so they let me leave. Two days later, I had an appointment with a different dentist recommended by a friend. He looked at the x-rays provided (they looked different than what was on the screen in the office) and could only see one potential cavity. Then he inspected my teeth and didn't see any issues at all. To be sure, he x-rayed the area again and lo and behold, the "cavity" wasn't there. Needless to say, I canceled my next appt with Plaza and changed dental insurance so I can go elsewhere. I don't know if Plaza needs to re-calibrate their x-ray machines and go back to actually LOOKING at people's teeth, or if they are doing this purposely to gouge each patient for as much money as possible, but this is not the place to go for honest dentistry or a good experience.

Exclamation was excellent, told me what I really needed to get done and I felt like I finally had a great plan of action when I left. They have an entire new staff over here now and I have to say..... I love it! The office is so positive and upbeat, clean, minimal wait for scheduled appointments. My husband also went and came out saying that he had the BEST teeth cleaning in years. It looks like they have put a new shine on this office with a fantastic staff and amazing new dentist! I would say that you definitely want to give them a try! A++!

Negative experience: Don't come here. Robin that runs the front desk is rude with a smile. First exam I received, Dr. Phan was great, explained everything but then I was told that dental work was all cosmetic, Robin didn't even check with my insurance, said to do all 4 crowns; didn't make sense to do less than the 4 and wanted to charge me $6000 then said they would do it for special pricing $5000. Went in for 1 of 2 cleanings then a different doctor said that they could definitely do 1 at a time and price Robin presented was $7000 but they would check with insurance. Long story short, avoid the hassle. Robin charged me twice what I should have paid for one of the cleaning then gave me a hard time about getting the refund trying to pull a 3 month visit I had to make to maintain the cleaning they finished. Avoid the hassle and go elsewhere.

Negative experience: These guys will tell you that your insurance doesn't cover when it does they will make you pay when insurance covers the job do not come here

Negative experience: Don't go here if you're a military family. The finance person at the front desk doesn't run insurance, wants you to pay full price. We ended up getting the treatment done at another dentist with no hassle. Then we got overseas orders and now they are making it difficult to get a copy of our own records. Rude with a smile is the best way to explain the tone. The back staff are great, but they definitely need to do something about the front office.

Negative experience: Extremely disappointed in my experience with the front desk staff. I was overcharged for my visit and called when my insurance notified me of this. After many rude encounters, getting hung up on, interrupted mid-sentence to be put on hold for 10+ min, and having to call back several times, they still refuse to refund me. I will not be returning.

Negative experience: My experience here was dreadful. First, they saw my daughter without mentioning that their system was down and they couldn't take x-rays. Then, when trying to get a referral to a pediatric dentist they told me she wasn't in the system. I'm not sure how they could lose records like that. Save your sanity and avoid this place!

I don’t particularly enjoy having my teeth cleaned but she does an experience job of making it painless but distracting you with pleasant conversation. She should be given a raise too!

Positive experience: Been coming here for years, have had root canals, crowns and cleaning here but have decided to go elsewhere moving forward for majority if not all future dental needs. The Staff is very nice don’t get me wrong but I’ll be honest, they don’t have your best interest at focus it seems, It’s a business and i always felt like I was being upsold on things I did not go in for... I remember once going in for a regular cleaning & they would not give me a regular cleaning because I “needed a deep cleaning” first which was like $700 for your entire mouth which Felt like a total money grab. I literally went 30 years and saw 5-7 dentists in that time and not one of them ever recommended a deep cleaning… did all of those dentist suck at their job? Maybe but unlikely… Like why not just accept that I didn’t want a deep cleaning and just do the regular cleaning as I asked for? Well, it’s cuz a regular cleaning is 10x less $ was my guess. I went else where and got a regular cleaning a few days later. I was also informed one visit that I needed braces, which I vocalized that I didn’t care about but they tried 2x to get me to opt for them on separate occasions, again, another UPSELL attempt. IDK, my experiences started off well but over the years has deteriorated for sure. Furthermore, if you have a passport, you’re better off making the trek down to Tijuana as dental tourism is HUGE and majority of people who go to TJ are from the states since it’s a fraction of the cost and it’s easy to find a reputable, established, English speaking practice. I saved over $1700 for same procedure that family dental quoted me for and was serviced with in 24 hrs vs having to wait for a specialist who is only in their office 1 maybe 2 days a week… I’m sorry but Tijuana dental tourism in 2023 is a great option to save THOUSANDS if you’re willing to cross the boarder which is VERY EASY! DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH & you’ll see very quickly how many Americans to go TJ for dental tourism! I’m honestly upset it’s taken me so many years to go when I’ve had friends tell me to go for many years now!

Great, Clean, Nice company! Update June 2022- went back for cleaning and check-up. Great service, nice staff, still love my dentist. I’ve now recommended a family member and two friends. Update Dec 2022- I’ve now recommended this company to many more friends and family members who now attend. I had a great cleaning and got tips to help alleviate issues I’m having with receding gums (which they think I can help prevent further issue by just brushing lighter there- I am a heavy brusher so it makes sense), and for teeth grinding issues I’m having at night. Highly recommend (still). Update June 2023- still love this office and staff. I feel very cared for and appreciate their professionalism- I’ve had some bad dentists in the past- being at Plaza is such a relief and comfort. Still highly recommend.
