Fantastic experience: Today was also great March 25, 2026. I had asked to be on the waitlist and they called me back and got me in perfectly. Front office is always amazing! I think my hygienist was Chrissy she’s been there for 13 years and just came back from vacation (sorry if I got your name wrong ). She listened to all my needs and concerns. My cleaning went very well and she was very appreciative of me getting my wires off my braces so that I could get a thorough cleaning. Dr. McMahan came in briefly and said everything looked great. Overall a nice visit. Thank you ☺️ Dr. Michael McMahan is the greatest! He and his staff are so kind and patient. I love it there. They are patient, knowledgeable and give great customer service from the time you call, when you enter (the place is beautiful and clean by the way), to when you check out and leave. I had a cleaning, they fixed a chip and even went back with no problems cause I’m a little anal about my teeth and he made it perfect! Thank you so much Surfside Dental family, you ALL were amazing! Fantastic experience: This was my first time seeing Surfside Dental. I was referred to them by my son, I found them all to be very friendly, caring and courteous. The dental hygienist Christie was awesome, I felt she was gentle yet very thorough during the whole process. Dr. McMahan reviewed my cleaning and personal hygiene, both he and Christie were very encouraging to me at how well I have been caring for my teeth and gums. Fantastic experience: I couldn’t be more grateful for Dr.McMahan and his amazing staff. My daughter’s spacer, one side broke off from the back of her tooth. Looks like her new teeth were on their way in. Anyways, we called got a quick next day morning appointment , filled out the paperwork through the link, received a few text messages and we were in and out in less then 20mins. Not a corporate dental office where 5 dentists run back and forth doing little bits of your procedure before they have to go into the next room and do something on another patients before the novocaine wears out. Fantastic experience: Two years after our long time dentist sold his practice, and after several false starts -- we have finally found our forever go-to dental team at Surfside Dental. From Melissa who patiently answered all my questions, made our appointments, helped change our appointments, explained payment options, to being welcomed by Dr. McMahan who took the time to get to know me a bit, to Damaris who did my dental cleaning, it was an all-around pleasant and positive experience. Such a warm and friendly staff and a clean and welcoming environment. No hard sells. No recommendations for things not needed. Just a thorough examination and cleaning at a reasonable price. Damaris explained everything she was doing (and why) and was quite possibly the cheeriest dental hygienist I have encountered in any dental office I've ever been to! They were honest, kind, and professional. The previous dentist I saw claimed I needed 15K+ worth of fillings, crowns, an extraction, deep cleanings, genetic tests, etc. I accepted the inevitable but, based off a brief and lovely interaction I had with their front desk, I decided to book with Surfside to confirm. Dr. McMahan informed me my teeth were healthy and he’d see me in 6 months for a cleaning. I’m beyond relieved to find a trustworthy dentist not trying to push unnecessary work. My family and I will be patients for life. Thank you to Lynn, Dr. McMahan, the sweet hygienist who took care of me, and everyone else in the office. Never had to wait more than 5 minutes in the waiting room, I believe it's because they do not over book. They spend quality time with each patient, never rushing and answers all questions and concerns. Prompt service, again because they don't over book, they are able to take urgent matters as they come up. Also they don't look for problems that are not there. They take x-rays and do a thorough exam, and cleaning. The front office and exam rooms are all clean, and they have modern equipment. They practice preventative care. Would highly recommend this office for dental care.

Very attentive to patient concerns - whether treatment-related or financial - they offer a pragmatic approach to managed dental care...prioritizing the most critical needs and dispositioning the lesser issues going forward. Expert dental hygienists keep track of my regular dental needs, and Dr. McMahan and his dental assistants provide excellent diagnostic recommendations and emergency service (eg., if a crown falls off and needs replacing, he's there for you). The dental work is expert, and you will leave the office with treatment administered with serious consideration for aesthetic appeal, as well. The billing is reasonable and the front desk greets with a friendly vibe. Look no further than Surfside Dental in Oceanside.

Fantastic experience: My wife, adult daughter and myself completed our first cleaning with Surfside Dental in Oceanside. Marla, Wendy and Melissa from the front office along with the dental hygienists (Damaris and Dina who was filling in for Christie) were all extremely nice and very organized and they all did a wonderful job. The same for Dr. McMahan as he was very nice and very knowledgeable. They only address what needs done and do not pressure the patient to get work done what does not need to be done which is great. We will be going back and so glad we found them.

Fantastic experience: Dr McMahon and whole Staff are so kind and sweet!! Dr. does not try to upsell you or do unnecessary testing + procedures, including saying I need a mouth guard for teeth grinding (which by the way is a common scam in a lot of dentist offices). Also, can I talk about the AMAZING tunes they play!! They rotate their music from 70’s ,80’s, 90’s hits and yacht rock- which is soothing when you are sitting in the chair in front of their big TV’s filled with beautiful landscapes. This office gets an A+ with customer care+ service and a cool+ hip + clean dentist office. BRAVO

Fantastic experience: I had an emergency with a porcelain crown that came off. My regular dentist, who was out of town, recommended Dr.McMahon. They were closing in less than an hour on Friday and they went ahead and took me in at 12:15. I really appreciated that. The dentist and al of the staff that helped me were excellent.

I do my best to support local smaller businesses when possible- so that was a major factor in choosing Surfside. 5 years later, as a (proudly) returning patient, I just wanted to come on here and share what a pleasant experience it has been to be apart of this practice. I came to Dr. M in search of a place I could feel comfortable with- whether I was talking money/payments or serious dental work. I feel like I struck gold with this place/team! The Ladies taking care of the admin work- who are the same 2 friendly Women I speak to every single visit, are so awesome. Shout out to them! In a world where it seems that employee turn around is so high every where you go- this team has remained strong and consistent. That speaks volumes about leadership and how well Dr. M takes care of his team. As I was leaving my appointment today, I heard him tell his staff and hygienists "Great work today everyone". And they all wished each other well for the end of the day. It just gave me confirmation that I made the right decision become a patient here. Also, shout out to Lynn (Dental Assistant) she is the best! 5 stars for a warm, welcoming environment 5 stars for transparency and up front about costs/work needed 5 stars for fixing the problem 10/10 times

Dr. McMahan is so accommodating and creates a calming environment for my child who has autism. He even gives shots that my kiddo can manage and now is not scared to go to the dentist!! He talks my kiddo through dental procedures with care, concern, and positive affirmations. The staff makes any dental emergency I have their emergency and make us feel like family. Fantastic experience: My latest office visit ( for a crown ) . From the welcoming front desk ladies to the dental prep with ( lynn ) and the work by Michael the Dentist was all done with amazing care and reassurance . Surfside Dental does it all : Good scheduling , quality work and a very pleasant attmosphere . I'd give them 6 Stars ..5 just isn't enough .

Negative experience: I am not doing this lightly. I was told after my initial visit with this new dentist that we would be scheduling my follow-up appointment to the initial visit after a tooth extraction. This may be a presumption on my part but there's no follow up phone call from the practice. So after a few weeks, a reasonable period of time, I called and scheduled the follow-up appointment. The office sent me on my phone some forms to be filled out. I have a tremor which makes my doing small detail tasks on my phone very difficult, and I explained that to the receptionist but I had to ask her twice to give me a hand filling out the forms due to a my tremor. The doctor performed his tasks adequately and professionally, but after doing an extensive amount of work on me, there were no no follow-up recommendations or instructions is given nor was there any recommendation for a follow-up visit in 6 months. When I got to the main desk the person there was more than happy to take my money, and I noticed that she cheerfully asked young gentleman before me if he wanted to schedule a follow up visit in 6 months. When it came my turn and she took my payment for the services rendered, I had to initiate the subject of the follow up appointment.After we completed our interaction, I was summarily dismissed I know the difference between closure and dismissal and I was dismissed I was once told that tact was ability to tell someone to go to hell and make them look forward to the trip. The message I'm getting here doesn't pass muster. I am a simple man If my presence is unwelcome just tell me. It could be said that this could have been resolved with a phone call but it's my perception that it would have been gaffed off and kept from people who would have to account for their actions so I chose this recourse, I have no choice but to cancel my appointment I feel there's nothing that can resolve this matter that Dog just don't hunt. Thank you

Fantastic experience: I searched for a dentist and came across Surfside Dental in Oceanside. I have been with my former dentist for 15 years, and had to find a dentist close to home. My hygienist suggested I look for a dental office with a good hygienist. I read the reviews online and made an appointment. I was extremely pleased to find the office team to be extremely friendly and professional. The hygienist who attended me was thorough and knowledgeable. I am coming back and already booked my next appointment!

I had a temporary put on in 40 minutes, which held up like a real tooth. In less than 2 weeks I had the replacement put in and this only took about 35 minutes. Plus I felt no pain, Lin took the Temporary off with ease. Plus the new tooth in color looks like the rest of my teeth. Great match by Lin.

Fantastic experience: My dentist of 20 years retired and my husband and I were referred to Surfside Dental. This dental office and team are perfection! Kelly, the office manager, couldn't be more pleasant & professional and Dr. McMahan is very honest, friendly, kind, and empathetic to each dental situation. He doesn't "push" his business or treatment onto patients like I have experienced at other dental offices. Surfside Dental is beautifully remodeled which includes the most updated dental technology. I used to never want dental x-rays because of radiation exposure, but their x-ray equipment produces very minimal radiation. Each time I walk into Surfside Dental I feel very calm and relaxed. While in a dental chair I love being mesmerized by watching the (large flatscreen TV) beach front webcams and listening to the calming music. The entire Surfside Dental experience could not be more pleasant! We are extremely thankful to have Dr. McMahan and his team providing our dental care! Another plus is parking. Parking is very easily assessable.

Fantastic experience: Went in for a regular cleaning, during which a small sensitive area was detected on my gum. That prompted an x-ray check, finding an infected root canal which was not causing any pain, but was basically a ticking bomb waiting to explode. Prescribed anti-biotic and referred to a specialist to promptly take care of it before it becomes a serious issue. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: Surfside sets the gold standard for dental practice. Every aspect of Surfside and every person that works there is great. They solved my split tooth the same day, whereas another practice was pushing a lot of other services and delaying my tooth repair three weeks. Oh, and a big bonus, Surfside was significantly less than the HMO practice.
