Dr. Austin not only provided us with clear communication and understand but also was very supportive and attentive. They were also very very patient with us. Other offices will often make you feel like you’re taking too long or they don’t want to deal with interpreters or taking time to explain in detail. So, thank you for not making us feel that way. Fantastic experience: I am embarrassed to say I have high anxiety when it comes to dental work so I have avoided going for a very long time. This was by far the most comfortable I have ever felt getting work done. I came in for an initial exam and thought I would have to wait to get any work done. Even while being short handed he squeezed me in to get a crown done because he felt like it was best to get it done right away. There arent many dentists that go above and beyond like this. Super thankful I found this place!

He accurately identified all three issues I was experiencing and explained their significance in a way that was easy to understand. Negative experience: I had an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience with Dr. Austin Hagyegi and his dental office. I went in expecting professional service, but instead, I feel I was completely taken advantage of. First, the experience itself was painful and unprofessional. When the dentist injected the local anesthetic into my gums, it hurt so badly that it felt like they were either inexperienced or completely indifferent to my comfort. I’ve had dental work done before, and this was by far the most poorly handled experience. Second, they grossly overcharged me for basic dental treatments compared to standard rates. Third, despite being in-network with my insurance, they refused to process my claim, stating they "don’t like dealing with the hassle of insurance claims". They then coerced me into paying out of pocket by claiming I could seek reimbursement from my insurance after treatment. However, after the treatment, they failed to provide the proper documentation required for reimbursement, effectively leaving me stuck with the entire cost. Adding to the frustration, they apparently do not issue receipts, invoices, or copies of signed paperwork unless you explicitly ask for them. When I requested mine, I was made to wait several days before finally receiving them, which is completely unacceptable. It shouldn't take so long to do so. Finally, when I tried to address these concerns with the dentist, they refused to take any accountability. Instead, they essentially told me they would rather lose my business than address the valid issues I raised. What’s most disappointing is that had the dentist simply complied with my reasonable request to provide the necessary documents, I would have gladly returned as a regular patient and recommended them to my family and friends. Instead, I left feeling scammed and disrespected. To top it off, it’s obvious that almost every 5-star review they have is AI-generated or fake. It’s clear they’re more invested in creating a false online reputation than actually treating patients ethically or professionally. This practice's blatant disregard for transparency, professionalism, patient care, and basic ethics is appalling. It seems their primary goal is to maximize profits, even at the expense of their patients' comfort and financial well-being. I would strongly advise anyone to avoid this dentist unless you want to risk being overcharged, subjected to unnecessary pain, misled about insurance coverage, and dismissed when you voice legitimate concerns. They're running an overall bad business here, don't fall for their deception.

EDIT: I hate to update my review, but I got a second opinion and it seems their quoted prices were quite high, and I didn’t need some of the work they said I needed.

Fantastic experience: Excellent service, very good dentist and the assistant is a very nice person. They explain the treatments very well and advise you on what would be better to do so that the payments for the treatments are not so burdensome. Excellent, I really recommend them. I am very happy and pleased with the service. Mrs. Robin and Dr. Austin A are really excellent at their job and as for kindness I RECOMMEND THEM

Fantastic experience: Dr. Hagyegi was very caring, gentle, super accommodating for our little ones. They are 3yr., 4yr., and 6yr. and so grateful that we came here for them to get an overall positive dental experience. They are not fearful but rather excited to come to see Dr. Hagyedi again for their recommended visits. If you are looking for a nice, local family dentist near Escondido, then highly recommend.

Negative experience: I had a very disappointing experience with Dr. Austin. It was evident that he cares more about advancing his career than his patients' health and well-being. His lack of genuine concern made me very uncomfortable. Please be careful if you decide to visit his office.
