Fantastic experience: I needed to get in for urgent care on a crown / cap that disintegrated into fragments. I called Downtown Dental Group and Meghan was able to get me an appointment with Dr.Costello the same afternoon. Wow - that’s pretty spectacular service . Dr.Costello was outstanding in explaining what happened to the crown . The crown/ cap was done prior to 2014 - the year we started seeing Dr.Costello . Meaning he didn’t not initially do the work. Dr.Costello proceeded to inject my upper right gum with an anesthetic- I NEVER felt anything. The procedure was car least 30 minutes long and I never felt any pain nor discomfort. A temporary was placed and I will return for the permanent in a few weeks . I have been to many dentists and have lived in at least 7 states and place Dr.Costello at the top of my list . Dr.Costello is professional, excellent dexterity with his hands , honest and likable. Office staff is wonderful and everyone is friendly. BTW - I’m a retired physician who doesn’t usually give rave reviews to medical professionals.- Dr.Costello 10/10 Reception. 10/10 Dental tech 10/10.

Fantastic experience: I have two appointments per year for cleaning. Mary is always welcoming and she does an excellent job. Traditionally I avoided going to the dentist but since coming to Downtown Dental over 20 years ago I actually look forward to my appointments.

Negative experience: I previously wrote an excellent review for the hygienist because her clinical work genuinely deserved recognition. The cleaning itself was thorough and professionally performed, and I continue to appreciate the quality of care she provides. However, I feel obligated to share a significant concern regarding billing transparency. I scheduled what I understood to be a routine cleaning and did not request a separate doctor’s visit. I was therefore surprised to discover an additional charge for a doctor’s exam that was neither requested nor clearly explained in advance. Had this been communicated beforehand, I would have appreciated the opportunity to decide whether to proceed. In any professional setting, transparency regarding services and associated costs is a fundamental standard. Patients deserve clarity before treatment — not unexpected charges afterward. What further compounded my disappointment was the lack of follow-up communication. I called multiple times in an effort to resolve the matter and was told I would receive a return call, which never occurred. Instead, I received a bill — followed by an additional late fee — while I was actively attempting to seek clarification. Clinical skill earns trust; transparency and professional communication sustain it. I encourage future patients to ask detailed questions about required exams and billing policies in advance to avoid similar surprises.

Negative experience: Disappointed with my visit today. In my adolescence, the downtown location was my primary dentist for years, and I always had great interactions with the staff. I scheduled an appointment online for a routine cleaning. Unbeknownst to me, a family member also had an appointment at the same location and time. For some reason, reception couldn’t tell us apart—which is odd, considering I’m a young female and he’s an elderly male. They didn’t schedule his appointment at all, even though he called the day prior to confirm. They only had mine on file, so he was never seen. Once I was called back, I was seen by a dental hygienist who took multiple x-rays of my mouth. The equipment felt outdated compared to other offices I’ve visited and was slightly uncomfortable, but she was kind. I spent about 10 minutes with her before the dentist came in to evaluate my teeth. The doctor spent roughly 10 minutes as well, then stepped out to verify my insurance and discuss a treatment plan. Before she left, I asked whether she’d be doing the cleaning and filling today. Her response was, “If we have time.” The hygienist came back and explained what I’d be charged for both a cleaning and a tooth filling. I asked, “Am I not getting my teeth cleaned today?” She said no—I’d have to come back. I couldn’t help but laugh in disbelief. I’ve only had three cavities in my entire life, including the small one in the back they mentioned. I visit the dentist twice a year and take good care of my teeth, so I don’t require a lot of work. My appointment was at 10:30 a.m., and I didn’t leave until nearly noon. For me, the whole experience felt misleading and like a waste of time. I’ve been to several dental offices in both Illinois and Wisconsin and have never had this happen, even as a new patient. It gave me the impression they intentionally split up services to bill insurance multiple times. I thought I was saving time and effort by going to a location in Milwaukee instead of my usual one in Chicago—but clearly, I’m better off sticking with my Chicago office.

Fantastic experience: I love this clinic! Stuff is very friendly and caring, doctor Viktoria is amazing and Helen is so nice I love them from the first talk. They provided very good service, clinic using progressive tools, everything is very clean and comfortable. Highly recommend ♥️ Especially for Ukrainians like me, doctor Viktoria and hygienist Oksana are also from Ukraine and can speak our native language! In foreign country that’s really important! Fantastic experience: (Downtown location) Incredible experience! The staff was very kind and knowledgeable. I got lost on my way up to the office but the receptionist (Olivia) called me and helped me to get to the office. I didn’t have to wait long at all to be seen. The dentist assistant (Lila) answered all of my questions and knew very well what she was doing. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: I am one who does not enjoy visits to the dentist. That being said, Dr. Costello and his staff continuously make me feel comfortable and keep me pain-free during my visits. They are accommodating to my schedule and figure out a way to get me in quickly. Dr. Costello is kind and does beautiful work. I am so impressed with their quality of work and service that I have continued to fly back to Milwaukee for all my dental work. The front staff is polite, friendly and extremely efficient. Mary's years of experience is evident with her TOP NOTCH service. My exams, 'deep cleaning', and cosmetic work were stellar and utilized some of the latest digital technologies. It's no surprise that Dr. Costello is named "One of Milwaukee's Top Dentist". In my opinion, he is the "USA's top dentist" and I'll continue to fly to Milwaukee to see him!

Fantastic experience: I'd only ever had one dentist before mpvong to Milwaukee and have anxiety over new doctor experiences. I went in for a scary condition of necrotizing gingivitis that had been quickly and aggressively attacking my gums. I was able to get in an hour earlier than my original appointment was scheduled to my own relief. Every Hygienist was kind and wonderful, making sure I was comfortable and felt no pain. Was given two antibiotic prescriptions for my gingivitis and sent me on my way. Will update after my followup and cleaning, but so far downtown dental has been very welcoming.

Fantastic experience: Dr Costello is a brilliant dentist and puts patient needs and concerns at the forefront. He is great at the “scary” procedures such as crowns, root canals, and extractions. His staff is excellent, and a reflection of him, they provide great service when doing cleanings as well and are very diligent about their tasks! I had a redo crown, and a new crown worked on the same day and it was a smooth process. No pain during or after. He and Hannah also went the extra mile and got me a referral to a specialist for a growth/bump I’ve been dealing with for a few weeks. Don’t be afraid to go to the dentist - you’ll feel much better when you do, just make sure to keep going back so the teen and Dr can catch flaws early!! I’ve had 30+ appts in a year, but I have no fears!

Negative experience: It was a waste of time and money. I went in for a teeth cleaning and a cavity filling, and everything went fine until I went to pay. They added an odd fluoride paste charge of $40 that I did not ask for. A few weeks later, I received a bill in the mail for an additional $50. Insurance did not cover everything; I can understand that. I called a day or so later and made the payment. They keep calling and texting me asking for payment and threatening to send me to collections. I told them it was paid, they found the payment, and acknowledged they misapplied it and will get it fixed, yet I still keep getting contacted for payment. I will not be back.

Fantastic experience: Downtown Dental group is amazing! I have been a patient for more than 10 years and today I brought my youngest two children for the first time 15 & 16 years of age. They loved the way the staff treated them! Both my son and my daughter thought it was the coolest thing that they could receive a dental exam/cleaning while watching the Olympics! My daughter was very appreciative of the warm blanket as she’s always on the chilly side. I am so happy with the transition I was extremely nervous as they had been with their previous dental provider since they had their first teeth. But Dr. Costello and his amazing team did not disappoint! Thank you for the amazing service!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Victoria is the first dentist I've had that makes me feel so comfortable and at ease. When I first started coming to her, it was after years of not going due to lack of insurance and fear of dentists. She didn't make me feel bad about the state of my teeth and worked on a plan to get me where I need to be. I can't imagine going to see anyone else at this point.

Fantastic experience: After years of avoiding dentists until I had a serious dental emergency, Dr Costello won me over with his beautiful office, his kind manner, and his beautiful, almost pain-free work. Dr Costello and his staff are also excellent communicators. Their explanations of dental problems, treatment options, and preventative care have motivated me to protect my smile and my health!

Fantastic experience: I hadn’t been to the dentist in about 3 years prior to going to Downtown Dental and the hygienist and Dr. Victoria (spelling is wrong I’m sure) were fabulous the three times I’ve been this year. This includes two cleanings and a double filling. Just scheduled my next crown appointment and know it’ll be a positive experience because of the staff. Thank you!!

They treat me like family and I know they truly care about me and my dental health. Mary has been my hygienist for most of the 20 years and I absolutely love her! I wouldn’t think of going anywhere else!
