They were able to see me last minute at the end of the day on a Saturday, give me x-rays, write me the prescription I needed, and guide me in the right direction. Dr. Kim was wonderful and he gave me such reassurance. The office staff were so friendly and kind. I was so pleasantly surprised and definitely will be going back and recommending them! Thank you!

Fantastic experience: Wonderful! They honored my need for a straightforward treatment plan with multiple options and honest pricing. They offered an in house payment plan, and the office manager was smart and understanding about payment. The dental assistant was a kind young women, and the dentist himself was excellent, not a single moment of pain during multiple extractions. They got me in same day and had excellent customer service systems in place for a small office. Would recommend. Literally solved my issues same day.

Fantastic experience: I had a chipped tooth because my wisdom teeth came in improperly, so I scheduled an emergency appointment. The staff was incredibly helpful and promptly scheduled me for the same day. After X-rays and an evaluation, They recommended removing the chipped tooth and remaining wisdom teeth as well so there is no future issues. The procedure felt surprisingly quick and painless. The staff was incredibly kind and made sure I was as comfortable as possible throughout the process.

Negative experience: I was told I needed a root canal, but after getting a second opinion from my regular dentist, I was informed there was absolutely no reason to perform one. That was very concerning. I was also charged $150 plus $4 processing fee for a temporary filling because I was told my insurance would not cover it. I later confirmed with my insurance company that temporary fillings are covered under my plan. To make matters worse, I have called the office multiple times requesting an itemized invoice with the procedure code so I can submit the claim to my insurance, but my calls have gone unanswered and my requests have been ignored. Based on my experience, I have serious concerns about the diagnosis, the billing, and the lack of communication. I intend to report this matter to the appropriate parties and will continue pursuing it until it is properly addressed.

Negative experience: Very unprofessional service My son moved his milk tooth , was hanging and blood was all over so for him was the end of the world, I took him to this place since was open , when I got there on the door and online was sign open but the door was closed I called the lady on the phone was like machine I did not know if she is IA or a person , but it turn out it was a person , she ask me many questions , proposed extra service and at the end she said next appointment is tomorrow lol and she said if I do not like I can go to hospital I guess to pull the tooth? Why this place is an Emergency if someone had emergency they don't help those people and I bet you It will take 5 min . I will never come back to this place.

This evening no dental clinincs were accepting my wife with a broken wisdom tooth @ this Hackensack emergency dental not only accepted our case but took action on the same day which was highly appreciated! Dr. Hyuk Lee was incredibly professional and took the time to explain everything they were doing, which made us feel very at ease, he not only extracted 2 wisdom tooth with exterme care but also bone grafted the same day, isnt that amazing!! The office is spotless and uses modern technology. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a gentle, thorough and skilled dentist!!

Negative experience: Have an upper fixed screwed in denture where a tooth broke off. I wanted it repaired but they told me I needed a whole new denture. I read online not to go with someone who suggests that right off the bat. Went to my dentist in New York and he said of course we can fix that. Sent me to a lab in Jersey city where they fixed it while I waited . Always get a second opinion and don’t go with the first thing they recommend that will cost you thousands of dollars.

Negative experience: They charged me what they’d charge my insurance but the dentist that performed my surgery told me that amount would change once it was determined whether my insurance would cover it, as procedure without insurance are less (or so it was claimed). It was later on determined that my insurance would not cover so i brought the lesser charge to their attention. They have not gotten back to me to this day after a couple back and forths.

Negative experience: Avoid for any emergency services if you’re a woman that has the least bit of anxiety or pain tolerance issues. I cracked my tooth and had a very complicated emergency extraction. I started at the West Orange location and the dentist was amazing. He was very patient and listened to me. But I needed an oral surgeon and had to go to Hackensack the next day. That doctor was the worst I’ve ever had. He was extremely annoyed when I didn’t get numb quickly and wanted to continue anyway. When I said I could feel it he became more annoyed. I had my husband there but he was dismissed too. The doctor also stuck a needle straight into my infected gums and I screamed out in pain and started crying. I also explained how much pain I had been in the night before, the worse pain I had ever experienced. He told me “I’m sorry to hear that” and refused to prescribe me anything but Ibuprofen 600 for the pain. I had to call my regular dentist for a painkiller so I could sleep. I would NEVER go back to him and wouldn’t recommend to anyone else. It has taken me 6 months to write this review because of how traumatizing it was. I refused to go back there for the implant and found an amazing oral surgeon to do it instead.

Negative experience: !!!UPDATE!!! I had previously visited this dental clinic and was initially very satisfied. However, the root canal treatment I had did not heal properly. This only became clear later, as it became very swollen. When I went to another dentist, I was informed that the treatment had never fully resolved, and a crown had been placed prematurely. The dentist here told me that, due to the infection growing so much, I am at risk of losing my tooth. I don’t expect them to fix it in the future because I have returned to my home country, but I am seeking immediate help now, as all my time, money, and effort have been wasted. I can provide any necessary documents to prove this situation, and I would greatly appreciate your immediate assistance. First Review: I have been struggling with my teeth for a long time and visited many dentists since my childhood. I can say this place was the best dentist I have been experienced so far. I had a long journey in here and 4 dentists took care of my teeth and they were all super professional. The technology that they use pretty good. The place has very clean environment. I had almost painless treatment. Also the assistants and front desk very kind, friendly and helpful. If I will have another problem in the future without any hesitant I would visit again.

Negative experience: The absolute worse dental appointment I’ve ever had. I’ll preface by saying yes, I try my best to keep up with my dental cleaning every six months. I also do my due diligence of keeping up with my day to day dental hygiene. I’ve also worked for a dentist ions ago and understand the steps of a proper cleaning. After seeing the very nice assistant place all the instruments needed for a full cleaning. Dr. Kim decided to do a mediocre scaling and that completed my appointment. No polish, no flossing, no fluoride. Because he assessed “I didn’t need it”. But as a doctor he should know those are the steps of a proper cleaning. Also, from an insurance standpoint. You’re billing my insurance for a full cleaning not just a 5 min scaling. I regret not demanding the full cleaning as a dentist should do.

Negative experience: Avoid this place if you can. I’m convinced they hire people off the street because Dr. Paul’s assistants were messing around with my teeth WAY too much during my wisdom tooth extraction. I can understand having students observe during a cleaning or extraction, but having them poke and prod at my mouth during a MAJOR SURGERY where I was conscious the entire time? Absolutely not. Their bedside manner also has a lot to be desired. They spoke to me, a grown woman, like a child the entire time. Yes, I’m an anxious person, but you do not ever talk to me like a baby. TL;DR: stop hiring random people off the street please.

From the moment I walked in, I felt a complete lack of compassion and understanding regarding my situation. Instead of receiving support and empathy, I was met with insensitivity that only added to the stress I was already under. It’s incredibly disheartening, especially at a time when I was seeking help and hoping to be treated with basic dignity and care. I had high hopes for this facility based on the positive feedback from others, but it’s a shame that my experience was so different. Everyone deserves to feel heard and supported when seeking dental care—not dismissed or treated as a burden. Fantastic experience: This dental facility and staff are excellent. The parking is great, enough spaces for at least 6 cars. Dr Paul did a very good cleaning of my teeth after the X-rays were done, I had not been to a dentist in 2 years; I was pleasantly surprised when he told me I didn’t have any cavities. The dental hygienist finished with polishing and a fluoride treatment. I didn’t have to wait long before I was called in. The office is very efficient and clean. This is my go-to dentist.

Fantastic experience: After being a patient for a little more than a year, I finally was treated in the Hackensack offices today, called Hackensack Emergency Dental, and just as I expected, they are all really wonderful there too! Dr. Kim and all from River Top Dental Oradell are top notch. l posted a glowing Google review last year, however since that post I have had many, many procedures done - as my teeth seem to be rapidly deteriorating, however the service and care has only gotten better - they have my complete confidence and that feels great especially in these troubled times. I am officially a senior citizen now, and I just do not have the wherewithal for poor treatment at the hands of the medical professionals in my life, sadly it happens a lot, but it has never been an issue at River Top Dental or Hackensack Emergency Dental, and I suspect it never will become an issue! Highly recommend!

Negative experience: First off let me start by saying the exam rooms have cameras so I have no reason to exaggerate. Management can view. 1. My son is Special Needs Autistic non-verbal 12 years old, very well behaved understands everything you communicate to him but of course can’t respond verbally. 2. Dentist stated he has worked with “Autism” just not “non-verbal” there isn’t much of a difference (if you know, you know) 3. The Nitrous gas tubbing continuously kept coming apart NO MY SON WAS NOT MOVING enough for this to keep happening, even the cap on the top kept popping off (again there are cameras). 4. Another Dentist had to literally tell our provider that it was actually off he didn’t even notice at one time. 5. In the beginning when discussing treatment plans dentist kept walking out laughing as if it’s funny and easy to make decisions on the spot concerning your child (it was not about the money, we paid in full $1,050.00 and were refunded $800.00 (because they turned on the gas that didn’t properly work due to tubbing malfunctioning) 6. It took 3+ calls to the office regarding the picture we were to receive showing our refund and Management made no effort to speak to us privately regarding this matter just sat behind the desk while staring and nodding her head. 7. We drove almost 2 hours for this emergency visit you would think our dentist would ask for assistance from a colleague, not at all, immediately tossed the needle aside and said we can’t proceed- of course not… your equipment wasn’t even properly working how could you? 8. I will be reporting this to my Dental insurance. 9. If you have a child that needs that extra support THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU. 10. Dentist I am referring to was Dr. Shim. UPDATE: Management called she was very understanding and comforting. Complete refund for services was provided and assurance was given that staff will be trained and resources provided for special needs. We were very grateful.

Negative experience: I recently took my 5-year-old daughter to this dental clinic after confirming over the phone that they accept pediatric patients and are equipped to perform X-rays. I was informed that a payment was required in advance to hold the appointment, and that this payment would cover the cost of the X-rays. I agreed and paid the amount, as my daughter was experiencing significant discomfort. Upon arriving at the clinic, we were told that they do not have the appropriate pediatric X-ray equipment. The dentist then referred us to a pediatric specialist who could perform the necessary imaging. I spoke with both the dentist and the front desk staff to request a refund for the X-ray fee, as the service was not provided. However, I was told that no refund would be issued because we had visited the clinic, despite the fact that the X-ray—what I was charged for—was not done due to their lack of proper equipment. It is important for other parents to be aware that this clinic is not equipped to properly serve pediatric patients, despite what may be communicated over the phone. I would not recommend this clinic for children’s dental care.

Fantastic experience: 10/10 experience. Came in with broken cavity filling and Dr. Shim fixed it all up right then and there. Awesome job. Felt heard and involved in my plan of care. Definitely see Dr. Shim. He is polite, caring, shares knowledge, and fixed tooth is great and comfortable!

Fantastic experience: Drove here at 6 pm on a Sunday for a raging toothache. Dr Paul quickly identified 2 molars that need to be removed for an infection after a root canal. Dental work is expensive, but they were super upfront about the cost and every piece of the cost, and let me take a service off that I didn’t want to do. During the extractions he was super gentle and made sure everything was numb, he explained everything as he did it, and got everything done fairly quickly. It was the best experience I had at a dentist and I was out the door in 90 minutes after arriving at 6 pm on a Sunday. I would recommend to anyone.

Positive experience: First time going to Hackensack ER Dental and they are all accommodating. Dr. Paul Maeng is knowledgeable and explaining even a single details of the problem and treatment plan. His approach to patient care is recognizable. You will not feel that they are rushing you and he is giving ample time for each patient care. He is allowing his patient to participate in the treatment plan through visuals . Definitely recommend Dr. Paul Maeng. Valerie the Manager is accommodating as well. The only thing that I want them to improve is the spaces of each room and little organization. But despite of highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: I found this dentist through Zocdoc and had a good experience with no complaints. Their services are more affordable than my previous dentist after insurance coverage. I’m usually very squeamish about dental visits, but I received an excellent cleaning and felt completely at ease. They did require $50.00 payment to hold my next appointment and was told it is applied to my next scheduled service which was odd but not a huge deal

Fantastic experience: On October 19th 2024 I contacted this location minutes before they opened, I left a voice message and they returned my call within minutes of them opening. The receptionist was very polite. I made them aware of the pain my wife was having due to a wisdom tooth that needed to be extracted. They were able to fit us in for same day services. They wanted to collect a payment over the phone of $40 that would of went towards the procedures. I was a victim of fraud once so I never feel comfortable given my credit card info over the phone. They allowed us to walk in and pay in person and still managed to scheduled our appointment. DR Park was the oral surgeon and he was very nice, polite and made the procedure very comfortable. My wife was recommended for a deep cleaning prior to wisdom tooth extraction. The wisdom tooth extraction was completed under 20 minutes. We live 1 hour away but the commute is worth every dollar, we do plan on switching our insurance and continuing our dental care at this location. All the staffs are friendly and polite.

Fantastic experience: Very professional and friendly staff. I was very nervous having the implant placed but everyone made me feel comfortable once I was in the chair. Dr Lee made sure I was numb all the way before he started, gave me stress balls and talked to me throughout the process. The implant procedure was painless and faster than I expected.
