Negative experience: The service is great and fast and the dr she is very knowledgeable and helpful But the customer service is very bad and not helpful and when you talk to them is very rude and they charge you for service it should insurance cover and they let you pay as well

Fantastic experience: Overall great experience (at least as great as having your teeth cleaned can be). Check-in, procedure and check-out were quick and efficient.

Fantastic experience: I want to really compliment the staff on their chair side manners. They were very accommodating to an anxious patient like myself. As someone with previous dental trauma they really worked to make me feel as comfortable as possible. Shawn was very sweet to talk to and was great about taking my mind off of things. And helping me through the nervousness. The office was clean. And the staff explained everything as they did it. They respected my wishes and moved at my pace. I know I need a lot of work after avoiding dental care for a long time, but for the first time in many years I am optimistic about being able to love my smile again.

Fantastic experience: Almost no waiting to be taken back for cleaning. Service was done quickly and a short wait time for review by the dentist. She took time to have a short conversation with me so it didn't feel like an assembly line.

Negative experience: Very Disappointing Experience — Poor Communication and Lack of Respect for Patient Privacy I had a very disappointing experience at this dental office yesterday while accompanying my mom to her appointment. As soon as we arrived, the front desk staff presented my mom with paperwork to sign for a crown that was supposedly approved by her insurance at 90% coverage. Before signing anything, we simply wanted to see the dentist and understand which tooth actually needed treatment and whether this was a new crown or a crown replacement. Instead of allowing us to speak with the dentist first, the front desk staff repeatedly pressured us, insisting that my mom’s tooth was “very bad” and that if we did not fix it that day, it could cause other problems and potentially require a root canal. This was extremely concerning because she was making medical statements and pressuring my mom to proceed with treatment even though she was not the dentist. At one point, she even asked my mom to open her mouth so she could point out which tooth needed the crown. When we asked her about it, she essentially admitted that she did not know because she was not a dentist. If she is not qualified to diagnose the problem, she should not be frightening or pressuring a patient into making a medical decision. Thankfully, once we were actually brought back, the dental assistant was wonderful. She was kind, professional, thorough, and made us feel much more comfortable. She explained that the dentist would discuss the crown with us. The dentist then examined my mom and explained that one of the teeth already has a crown, but there appears to be some discoloration underneath it that could indicate a problem. However, she could not confirm what was happening without removing the existing crown. She also explained that the tooth had already had a root canal. I asked an important question: if the tooth were to break when the existing crown was removed, what would our options be? The dentist explained that my mom could potentially need an implant or a bridge. When she noticed my mom was hesitant, she reassured her that she did not have to do anything that day and that if a problem develops in the future, we could come back for another consultation and potentially explore other options and insurance coverage. That conversation with the dentist was completely different from the pressure we experienced at the front desk. My biggest concern is that the front desk staff continued to be rude and unpleasant even after the appointment. More importantly, I do not believe medical or dental matters should be discussed loudly and openly in front of other patients in the waiting room. Patient privacy should be treated seriously. I will likely continue going to this office because the dentist and dental assistant were professional and did a good job. However, I will not discuss my mom’s medical or dental treatment with the front desk staff. I strongly believe patients should be allowed to speak with the dentist before being pressured to sign treatment paperwork or make decisions about procedures. A patient deserves to feel informed, respected, and comfortable—not pressured or frightened into treatment.

Fantastic experience: Dr Carrion is an excellent dentist and is always very friendly and informative while taking great care for my teeth. The hygienists do a good job making the cleanings go fast and as pleasant as possible. I always have a very positive experience with the ladies at the front desk.

Negative experience: If I could give zero stars, I would. My experience with this dental office has been extremely frustrating. They have been very poor at communicating about my account balance, and the amount I was originally told I would owe ended up being completely different. To make matters worse, my insurance company has been requesting an X-ray from the office for over a year, but it still hasn’t been provided. Instead of resolving the issue with my insurance, I continue to receive updated bills with different balances every month. This has been an exhausting and disappointing experience. I would not recommend this office based on their lack of communication, billing issues, and failure to work with my insurance company.

Negative experience: The actual service was great. Be sure to check your EOB’s from your insurance. They will definitely over charge or not bill your insurance for certain things.

Negative experience: Went due to a bad toothache. They fitted me in quickly, and everyone was friendly, explained everything that was going on, and was really professional. Update: my wife went and was told she had periodontal disease and needed her gums done first. She went and got it taken care of; she is in so much pain with her teeth now, and the dentist keeps coming up with different reasons not to see her and told her she needed somewhere else that does root canals or extractions but didn't refer her to somewhere, basically leaving her to sort it out herself. If they don't do these things, then what exactly do they do? I will not be going back there anymore either. We will find a dentist who wants to take care of their patients.

Fantastic experience: We we nervous because we had been going to our prior dentist for 10+ years, but because of insurance changed we had to find a new one. I searched through the insurance ones they accept and did some review looking. We decided on the Mid Tn Dentistry- Cedar Grove, and it was such a great experience! Centrally located in Smyrna, easy to get too, and its in same office building as our PCP! They called and asked if they could get us in early. They explained everything they were doing and gentle on the cleaning part. I have a permanent bar on my lower teeth and it can be painful to have that cleaned but Makayla did a wonderful job. The entire staff was so kind and the receptionist was very loving and sweet to our two year old! ( if your a parent you know how difficult it can be to keep a child entertained in a doctors office). I couldn't have asked to find a better dentist office and we are excited for future visits!

My dental cleanings entail some extra procedures, which the dental hygienist always tells me which part of the cleaning she is performing.

Fantastic experience: Makayla was my hygenist and Dr. Carrion also checked my teeth. Oh my gosh, I loved them both! I will definitely be back. All the staff where super sweet. I was very impressed and I felt like I was being well cared for.

Negative experience: Do not go here. I'll leave my original review below for transparency. When I came to them, only one tooth was infected. The rest of my wisdom teeth are under the gums and not exposed. They wanted me to take all four out and I didn't know better. They said I'd be paying out if pocket for sedation of I only did one. Thankfully Dr. Cook at Midstate Oral Dentristy explained to me the dangers to my jaw nerves and my sinus cavities if I pulled all four. Sedation only cost me $50. For one tooth. Btw, they didn't send in my form til monday. DO NOT GO HERE. The dentist and oral hygenist were professional and fast in helping me figure out that I needed my wisdom teeth removed. However, the business only has a surgeon come once a month. I can't wait three weeks when the medicine prescribed only lasts one. They suggested another surgeon but didn't check their availability. He was even longer of a wait. We were left on our own to find a surgeon, and when we did, the secretary was not very professional over the phone. She was quite frustrated and huffy over filling out paperwork for another place to do my surgery. Its the next business day and it still hasn't been sent to my oral surgeon. If it isn't done in a timely manner, I'll have to go see a different dentist to get that refferal taken care of, and coming here will have been a waste of my time and money.

Negative experience: New This is the worst place to go to. They will over charge you. They will bill you for things that the insurance company doesn't cover at all. The billing code is not in the insurance company. When you call to ask to speak with someone in billing no one will call you back. They will refuse to pick up your calls. Ps. They will try to send you a bill even after paying them a lot of money. Be aware they r after your money. Find another dental place. Someone needs to report them to the AG office.

Fantastic experience: The ladies here are wonderful; I’m a nervous wreck when it comes to the dentist and dental work, and they made sure I was completely numb and comfortable before starting any work. They made accommodations for my shoulder from recent surgery. They are friendly, the office is clean and comforting, and they explained all of the work I was having done in detail. They made sure I was okay during the procedures. Everything was a great price, and I will be back.

Negative experience: I started going here a year ago due to the good reviews but after my last visit I will not be back. I usually receive a deep cleaning covered by my insurance, but the hygienist this time did a basic clean, claimed it was a “periodontist maintenance” and when I went to leave there was a surprise fee at the end. When I asked the hygienist about the cleaning she said she would do a deep clean next time and started to quote me additional fees for future cleanings when they are covered by my insurance. There is a lack of ethics and transparency at this place.

Negative experience: All I need is crown to put on and it cost me 3 time of what I use to pay for from most dentist. Is scam.

Fantastic experience: Caring and considerate is the best description of the staff at MidTN Dentistry Smyrna. They do excellent dental work and are really concerned about your comfort during and after the procedure.

Negative experience: The hygienist was very rough and seemed to be in a rush. It was quite painful for a routine cleaning.

Negative experience: The only reason this place is getting two stars is because the hygienist I had was great. Very sweet, gentle, and thorough. The dentist barely acknowledged that I was there and looked in my mouth for maybe 15 seconds. Not rude, but very disinterested. Maybe she was having a bad day that day, but seemed to be rushing through my appointment. I called 10 consecutive times to get another appointment with no answer. They didn’t get back to me when I left a message nor when I requested one online. The only reason I called to schedule another appointment is because they are the only ones in the area that take my insurance. With that being said, I would rather deal with my tooth pain and not have a check up than returning to this dentist.

Negative experience: I have periodontal disease. The treatments are always expensive and always more than I expected. I’m tired of it. I had a 10 minute cleaning and it was $130. With the best dental insurance my employer offers. I have a son with significant special needs. I can’t afford to be spending thousands of dollars on my teeth. My son comes here and doesn’t have periodontal disease and we had the same experience with him. The bill was always higher than what we had expected. I’m a nurse, I know dental care is very important. But I totally understand why some people stop going.

Positive experience: The hygienist and receptionist were friendly and efficient. They were ready for me right at my appointment time. The only issue I had was the actual dentist barely acknowledged my existence outside of looking at my teeth. She spoke about the crack in my tooth needing a crown only to the hygienist and only by way of telling her that this work needed to be scheduled to have it done. And then she was gone. It would have been nice if she’d have taken a few minutes to really talk to me about it and what my treatment options are. During a previous visit there was a little more one on one with the dentist so maybe she was just behind scheduled yesterday but it didn’t leave me feeling very good about things. Follow up: The above review was from back in March. Getting the crown was a little more of a personal experience. The dentist did take time to explain what the procedure involved and let me ask questions. The person helping her was also very sweet and careful to cause as little discomfort as possible. Ask the staff were quite attentive. My most recent visit (July) was for my regular cleaning. Even though I was running a couple minutes late, I was able to get right in and the staff and dentist were all very pleasant and personable. The hygienist did a fine job and no pain.

Positive experience: The staff are very friendly, however, I had a crown put in a couple of years ago by this office, and it seemed fine. However, I moved and my new dentist has noticed that the crown is lifting and it needs to be replaced because bacteria can be trapped underneath it. He said it was not put in correctly. Unfortunately, I cannot get the crown replaced because I can only get a crown every five years with my insurance so I will have to wait three more years and pray that it doesn't worsen.

Negative experience: Giving two stars because the hygienist that worked with was great but, besides that, my experience was zero stars. Someone entered my insurance incorrectly from the jump. I had a deep cleaning done and two cavities filled over the course of two different visits and they made me pay $750. Once my EOB hit from insurance, I found that my insurance covered everything and I shouldn’t have been charged. After about 8 months and way too many phone calls, I finally got a full refund. There is a lady on their staff who was very nasty every time I had to talk with her. She basically called me a liar every time we talked about the money. She finally processed my refund but I never want to deal with that lady again. I changed my insurance this year just so I could go to a different dentist.

However MidTN Dentistry is an excellent practice, the whole place has a very relaxed feeling, certainly puts me at ease, and I always enjoy the visit. I would recommend MidTN Dentistry to anybody needing a calming peace of mind to get through having dental work carried out.

Fantastic experience: Wow. It is rare that you go to the dentist and have a good experience. Dr Carrion’s office is more like a spa than a dental office. From the moment you walk in, you are treated with kindness and respect. The front desk, the hygienist, the assistant, the entire staff is highly trained and experienced. The dental work is impeccable and priced better than any office town. But beyond the dental work, the bedside manner and gentle, caring demeanor of every single person in this office, this is what sets Dr Carrion and her staff aside from other offices. Their years and years of experience working together as a team is evident from the moment you enter the office. In the past, I had a fear of the dentist. Now look forward to my visits with Dr Carrion and her staff. My only regret is that I didn’t find her sooner.

Negative experience: Avoid this dentistry. They are a scam and I have gone to various Rutherford County dentists for the past 22 years. A few months before my visit there, I got everything taken care at a prior dentistry and used my HSA monies to take care of the maybes. My first visit there, they said that I needed $1,000 worth of work that needed to be done on my teeth, when I simply when there for a cleaning. They refused to initiate a cleaning, unless I had this work done, first. 6 months later, I attempted another cleaning. Well, this time, they said that I had about $200 worth of work that was needed before they would clean my teeth. I ended up having the $200 worth of work done and many months later, they send me a bill for another $60. I refused to pay it, but my wife did, since the insurance was under her employer insurance. Avoid this place!

Negative experience: DO NOT USE THIS DENTIST OFFICE! The lady on the phone said I could get a basic cleaning on my appointment date and I told her I was a cash paying customer. When I showed up they looked at my teeth and tried to upsale me with a $1000+ dollar package. The older lady with the red hair at the desk was very rude to me about me asking why I was being charged and didn't even get my teeth touched like we talked about on the phone. Very Dishonest and disappointing. I would stay away from this office.

Negative experience: Would not recommend. My wife and I have been going here for a few years now. Every time we go, it’s always someone different in there as their hygienist & dentist. They also always attempt to get me to buy something that is not covered by insurance such as a $400 plus mouth guard; they start cashing it out and just ask if I’m paying cash or card and attempt to do the transaction on the sly. Luckily I’ve caught it prior to swiping my card but only just because I asked what it was for. They’ve tried this several times. This most recent visit, the front desk person was very nice and personable. However, the hygienist was terrible. Very rude. I’d tell you her name but she didn’t introduce herself. The whole time she was cleaning my teeth, very harsh and rough with my teeth, mouth & head. When she was finished she did say, “well I’d say see ya next time but I won’t be here, I’m leaving this place..” The dentist, also didn’t introduce herself was rude as well and did hardly anything at all. Didn’t even check my teeth or the cleaning job. Just preached to me about getting my wisdom teeth removed. I don’t usually leave reviews like this but it was rediculas. I wanted to get up mid cleaning and just leave but I knew they’d bill my insurance anyway and then I wouldn’t get any type of cleaning for the next 6 months. Save your time and money and choose one of the other 30 dentist in the area to give your business that value their customers.

Fantastic experience: My experience with MidTN Dentistry on May 13, 2024, was wonderful from the front desk person to the last person I saw. The receptionist was cheerful, respectful, and a really nice person. The dental hygienist did an excellent, very thorough cleaning of my teeth, and she was friendly and kind. Dr. Carrion is great--my favorite dentist! The person who did the final treatment on one of my teeth did an excellent job, and she was so very nice and friendly. At the end of my visit, even the person I made my payment to was really nice. Oh, and one more thing-the office was very clean even the restroom!

Negative experience: My story is very sad. When I went to them, they convinced me to have two teeth implanted, and they took the information for the first and second insurance, and they told me that they would pay $440. After the nail implant was done, and when the crown was re-implanted, they told me that I had to pay $2,800. I told them that you told me another amount. They said that there was a mistake. I felt disappointed and started. I was crying intensely and found the staff mocking me and laughing. After that, the clinic director reached out to me and asked me to wait for the insurance renewal at the beginning of the new year. I waited and then they asked for $2008. I am now looking for a lawyer because I suffer from very severe psychological fatigue.

I needed to see someone before the weekend for tooth pain and they were able to get me in quick, took multiple x-rays and did a thorough job to ensure I would have relief for the weekend! Thank you!

Fantastic experience: I had to come in from outta town and they were able to fit me in with 2 days notice. I had a previous filling and they left something in there which was hurting so bad and they were able to clear it out and send me on my way! Would 100% recommend!!!
