I am no stranger to the dentist chair, 18 years of no dental visits, then a ton of botched work at a walk in “dentist” and out of pocket UW school dental work later, and I finally found a place where I feel 100% comfortable and confident in the care I will receive. Dr. John’s spunky and lighthearted personality makes a patient feel much more comfortable compared to the strict black and white dentist you typically see. His team goes above and beyond to make you feel comfortable, informed, and will do everything in their power to follow up with you so you have all the information you could need. Dr. John’s is the fastest working dentist I’ve ever seen. And I’ve seen a lot. Not only this, but he’s good at what he does. I trust that his treatment plan is in my best interest for the long haul. Fantastic experience: I Love this place! From the time I walked in, I felt welcomed into a home-like office, where I was made to feel like a part of that home. They knew I was afraid of needles and of the Dentist in general, but from day one, the nurses and Dr. Johns made me feel so comfortable, that the fear I had Always felt when going to the dentist had greatly subsided. As time has gone on, I have been seeing Dr. Johns for a couple of years now, and I STILL Love this place!! Negative experience: Trusted them switching to a more local office after moving from Lacey to Puyallup. For starters I had to dispute a charge my first visit two years ago with the office, they had eventually admitted to the miss-billing. Had a filling about a year and half ago done here, that ended up cracking. They “polished it” flush. And it was okay since July. This Tuesday I had that filling fall out while drinking water.. less than 2 years old. Causing immense pain, I ended up going to a different dentist because Johns family and implant dentistry is closed until Monday the 5th(called Tuesday, they’re closed the whole week of new years I presume?).. Paid half the price at a much better office yesterday, with the dentist saying whom ever did my initial filling, should not be doing fillings.. Will 1000% be switching away from John’s Family and Implant Dentistry. Be cautious and I hope you have better luck if you choose to give them a chance!

I've had dental issues my entire life-- It had gotten so much worse since I was terrified to go back to a dentist because of how badly I was treated at my previous one. I'm so lucky to have ended up here at Dr. John's Dentistry; I don't feel shamed or guilted, and I always trust that they'll give me the care I need.

Negative experience: I would not recommend this dentist to anyone. They seem like they are trying to scam and upsell you on everything. The first time I went to the doctor , they told me that I needed to do a panoramic xray. They stated that this was not covered by insurance and the doctor “recommends getting it”. I told them that if it wasn’t covered by insurance and it was a recommendation then I wouldn’t be getting it because I don’t wanna pay anything out of pocket. They then continue to stress the importance of it and try to use scare tactics like, “Oh we have found cancer with that scan” , in order guilt me into getting the panoramic x-ray. I told them I would think about it. After my initial visit, I was scheduled for a cleaning WEEKS later because they were closed for a week. I thought that I was getting a regular cleaning that I had always received at my prior dentist. At the end of the visit, I was charged $65 while I went ahead and paid the charge. I was confused because my husband and I have the same insurance and at his dentist he has never once gotten charged a co-pay. When I called the front desk to ask about the charge they stated that I got a “specialized cleaning”. I told them that I would’ve never gotten that cleaning had I’ve been properly informed that that was what I was receiving I would have opted for the one that was free. They said that I signed the plan of care, but I was not properly explained that this meant I would be getting something that wasn’t covered by my insurance. Overall, this business is just trying to charge people on everything and want to find more ways to get your money other than insurance.

I’ve been a patient over 10 years and never plan to go anywhere else. Absolutely love love both the staff and my dental hygienist!

All the girls make sure you are aware of your health, they help you make informed decisions about your teeth and your health. Fantastic experience: Johns family dentistry is probably the best dentist I have ever gone to. They always were easy to schedule with and loved the use of their app where I could contact them through there if I ever needed to. The staff is so kind! I have super sensitive teeth and they always made sure to be really gentle while cleaning my teeth. They usually had warm water while teeth cleaning, which is hard to come by surprisingly. They really care about their patients. I was sad to have to leave because I got new insurance that they don't accept, WA Apple Health. I really wish they took it because I would never go anywhere else. I just had an appointment at my new dentist and definitely not as impressed as I am with Johns Family. So if you need a new dentist this is the place to go!

He listens and gives you options instead of automatically charging you for something that you don't (maybe at the moment) need. I have EXTREME dental anxiety and the staff always makes me feel so welcome and well taken care of, they truly treat dentistry like an art and I couldn't appreciate it more. While I absolutely still dread going to the dentist, the staff here makes it that much easier for me to be able to handle it.

Positive experience: Due to a change in insurance I had to change dentist. This office consistently received 5 star reviews so I thought to try it. I scheduled a check up and cleaning. It was an interesting experience. 1. This office screens your bp. You do not have the option to refuse. If you do, you will be refused treatment. They use a wrist-cuff, known to be not particularly accurate. Your bp is check with you in the dental chair. This is also known not to be the position for an accurate reading- nor do they mention uncross your legs. It is put on your right wrist, or whichever is closest to the assistant. 2. Digital xrays are great. However, the equipment was large for my mouth. I have not cried at the dentist in 60 years. No tissues were offered. I finally told them to just to swab inside my mouth with a topical- oh thats a good idea. The entire x ray process took almost 1.5 HOURS. They also take camera pictures of all your teeth and a picture of you. During this visit “ gum measurements” were also done. While the staff discussed this among themselves/ no explanation was offered to me. 3. At this point I was informed the cleaning would need a second appointment. WHAT? Though I have reviewed all 34(!) texts and one email from this office, not one documents this would be a 2 day process. It would have been a deal killer as insurance pays for one visit every 6 months. I felt at this point I had to come back to finish the process. 4. The second day was the cleaning. The hygienist took 1 hour to do this. She used a sonic cleaner as well as the usual manual tools.There was no polishing part which is something I have always had. There were plenty of breaks. The inside of my mouth was still a bit tender from the day before, again no tissue offered for involuntary tears. 5. At the end I was told their preferred brand of mouthwash and a followup appointment was made for 4 months time. Insurance pays for every 6 months but it was not worth a hassle at 5:30pm and with everyone in the office getting ready to go home. There was no usual “ goody” bag which I have always received- toothbrush, small toothpaste, floss and usually with small mouthwash and a small bottle of water. In conclusion I am sure this is a good place for some. I am not sure it is for me.

Fantastic experience: I am petrified of “The dentist” I was recommended to Dr Johns and never looked back. On my first visit they said “go ahead and have a sit in the chair” and I said “no you sit in the chair and I’ll sit over here and we will talk first” The doctor complied and proceeded to ease my fears and I’ve been going for two plus years. I am still fearful of the dentist but once I get in I remember they are the best. If you need a good hand to squeeze ask for a Day.

Fantastic experience: Trustworthy! Dr. Johns went above and beyond expectations for me and I am not an established patient; this was my first visit there. I went to 2 other dentist and was told my tooth was fractured at the root, each said a different location of the root was fractured. Both dentist said my tooth was not savable and needs to be removed and possibly place an implant in 6 months after healing. Luckily for me, there was a scheduling conflict and we could not get this procedure scheduled until a month later. I sought out a third opinion by Dr. Johns and was ready to have the tooth extracted that day as well. He examined my tooth and sent my images to Dr. Kaldestad at Anchor Endodontics whom I followed up with. My tooth was not fractured at the root and I was able to get a root canal versus extraction. Saved me thousands of dollars and I get to keep my tooth! Dr. Johns team have been in contact with me during this entire ordeal from handing off care to Anchor Endodontics to follow up with after the treatment was completed. I will be starting my dental care with Dr. Johns office and will refer all my friends there too. Highly recommend this office.

Fantastic experience: I meant to write this review last year after my cleaning with Nicole, but I forgot. We recently switched to this clinic after moving to Puyallup, and my experience with Nicole for the cleaning was excellent. She was friendly, informative, and paid attention to details, which impressed me. I just scheduled my cleaning with Nicole again for this year!

WOW! A long time. With underlying dental issues my whole life I was unaware of but Dr. John has help guide me to a periodontist and orthodontic treatment!! I couldn’t be more excited to see the transformation in my teeth. I have a long road ahead of me with lots of other things going on and other treatment plans. Fantastic experience: My wife & I had our first visit with Dr. David Johns and his staff yesterday. We had been with Dr. Stephen Kern in Lacey for over 25 years until he retired this past January. Dr. John’s was highly recommended by a close friend & retired dentist so we expected a highly professional dentist & office staff and were not disappointed. Dr. John’s has a very friendly chair side manner and explains your personal dental condition and recommend future work in easy to understand language. Both dental hygienist, Nichole and Kaitlyn were very knowledgeable, friendly and easy to communicate with. Even the photographer, Isa was very friendly and professional. We were impressed with the whole staff and would strongly recommend this dental office & staff to any of our family & friends.

Dr. John himself was very straightforward and blunt no sugarcoating anything and I really appreciate that he didn’t beat around the bush in regards to my dental needs.
