Negative experience: So NOT go here, these people will literally try to scam you. Make sure you look at your insurance information/call your insurance prior to if you decide to go. I went here to get a cleaning and they tried to charge me $190 for the cleaning. Let me tell you, I have never paid for a cleaning. When I went to call my insurance to see what’s up, they told me that the dentist office never fully processed my insurance. I called the dentist office back telling them this and they still haven’t processed it. I have called multiple times and it has been a couple of months. These people are just trying to get your money.

The front desk staff is prompt and welcoming. They communicate every charge and always make sure i schedule my follow up. Despite my hectic schedule, she always finds time for me to be seen. Their dental hygienist are knowledgeable, friendly, and skilled. The head doctor is humble and trustworthy. I now schedule to have my teeth cleaned every 3 months. Fantastic experience: Being new to the area, we did our research by walking into 3 dental offices to see how we were greeted by the staff and how they answered our questions. South Lake Dental was our choice! First off, my husband entered the wrong door and the Dentist, Michael Balikyan, was very friendly and showed him the receptionist desk. Both of the women at the front desk were extremely kind and helpful. The office is very clean, well run, and state of the art. Michael Balikyan, DDS, does not try to push any extra dental procedures and his staff are all very personable. It is a well run office!

Fantastic experience: I visited South Lake Dental this week because I had a sharp pain in my tooth. Dr. Balikyan quickly found and fixed the problem. The process was smooth, quick, and painless. I will definitely be back.

Negative experience: This location is very greedy, especially if you don’t have insurance. I had a tooth that needed to be extracted (and I had an infection). They treated me like I was the lowest of the low--and even tried to charge me an outrageous debit card fee! (They waived it when I raised an issue about it--I paid $960 out of pocket for this procedure). As far as positives go, the dental hygienists/assistants are very hospitable. Michael Balikyan extracted my tooth--he did a very great job estracting it and I felt no/little pain, but he also exacerbated a cracked tooth by knocking on it with his scalpel, then telling me I needed to come back to fix it (so they can take more non-insurance money, I'm sure). I appreciate the painless extraction, but I will not be coming back. This place is greedy and especially hostile towards anyone seeking care, and they'll try to charge you for using a debit card.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Balikyan and his hygienists provide * excellent * care. Their "prevention is better than treatment" approach to health care works. He and his staff can keep you in good health as they have done for me and I am profoundly grateful. The small bits of "extra" hygiene means you will keep your own teeth and smile for the rest of your life.

Makes going for my monthly Invisalign appointments fun, not something to dread. For as long as I live in Pasadena/LA~ this will be my dentist office and couldn’t recommend it more!!

It’s a clean environment, friendly, personable and welcoming yet quite professional. My decision to choose this office is the best decision I could have made. They were very detailed when explaining my treatment plan, patient as I asked many questions and once they started the work, I was made to feel comfortable and Dr. B clearly paid attention to my q’s of when I needed a break.
