Fantastic experience: Staff was very nice and gave me great cleaning

Negative experience: Since 2025 I have been trying to get into Johnston Dental. They have canceled my appointment each time! I had an appointment April 2025, they canceled it and rescheduled for June 2025, then that was canceled by them and rescheduled for the next available which was December 2025….they canceled again! That was rescheduled for August of 2026 (the next available appointment), and now that has been canceled! I’m so disappointed and now looking for another dentist that will not cancel each time for over a year!

Fantastic experience: I didn’t think it would be possible to enjoy a dentist appointment, but Dr. Frederick Liu made sure to prove me wrong. I went in for two fillings and everyone in the staff, from the lovely receptionist to Dr. Liu, have been extremely kind and respectful. I’ve been welcomed with a smile, music and laughs throughout the whole appointment and as someone who is not a citizen and never had anything done in the States before, this was an amazingly reassuring experience. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: Hygenist was great ..I definitely felt like she listened to me regarding xrays, and my wants and what I didn’t want. Super easy hygiene appt. Ive had a crown done also here and that went well also. Crown fit well with no high points!

Negative experience: They used to be good with staffing but staffing changing and they are not the same like they use to be looking for a new dentist complete cancel my appointment for today.

Positive experience: Nobody loves to go to the dentist, but my experience with everyone here has been wonderful. They make time to keep calling to help schedule your appointment, which I appreciate, given my busy schedule. Jordan, my new hygienist, was gentle and so delightful.

Fantastic experience: My 6 month cleaning went very well. My hygienist was welcoming..knowledgeable and thorough. She took my 4 yearly X-rays and Dr. Absi examined my teeth and said he will change a filling when I come for my next cleaning appointment…he didn’t like the look of it so he will fix it at no charge. All in all..a nice appointment.

Always makes me feel comfortable, takes the time to explain all procedures as they are taking place, gives further explanations to any questions or comments I may have, and lets me know if there is anything I should be doing differently in a very positive and professional manner.

Fantastic experience: I had to switch dentists due to my old one denying insurance. I wish I switched sooner! This dental group is amazing! They have all the best technology which made it easier and more comfortable and safer for me! And they were incredibly friendly and efficient!

Negative experience: I have waited months for my new patient appointment, excited to have a new dentist after not having been for at least a couple of years. I arrived on site a few minutes early since it was my first time there. I went through the main entrance and to my right was the Johnston Dental Group logo with an inaccessible door. Attached to the door was a sign reading something along the lines of ‘this is not an entrance, entryway door is behind the post office’. I exited the building and went along the side of the building, and did not notice an accessible entryway. The only other doorway I noticed had arrows directing to the main entrance, leading me to believe it was an inaccessible entrance. I returned to my car parked right in front of the office and called the provided number. The call was received by someone at a call center - not on site (which he disclosed to me). He was unable to provide directions as he didn’t seem familiar with the layout. He told me he would have someone come out to get me within the first few minutes of the call, and put me on hold. I waited for 5-7ish minutes and he returned on the call, continuing to attempt to assist with directions, while now at this point telling me that I was past my 11’oclock appointment time (my appointment was for 11:15, which was the originally scheduled time, and I have multiple confirmations showing this). I became frustrated that I may not be accepted for my appointment, as I had already been waiting and had been having a difficult time finding the entryway - with no assistance - and having my time wasted instead of effectively searching for the entrance myself; being told I’m going to be led into the office to no avail. I expressed my frustration that I may not be accepted, and was put on hold again. At this point, I once again searched for the entrance and found that it was at the doors with the arrows directing away from this entryway (…). I entered and could tell that the man in the office (Harold - I think?) was on the phone with the man I was just speaking with, and he already seemed annoyed with my presence. I went around to the counter to speak with him and he was immediately short with me (seemingly because he perceived me to be 30 minutes late - because of the offices scheduling error combined with the lack of assistance and misleading from the call center). He insisted my appointment was for 11:00am and that they could not see me, regardless of the fact that I had been in contact with the ‘office’ for the past 15 minutes. I was brought to tears and noted to him that I felt this was unacceptable, and he responded that my ‘being late was unacceptable’. I responded ‘okay’ and returned to my car to calm. I checked my appointment time and confirmed that it was for 11:15 and went back into the office to show this. The only response he had for me was that they could not take me today. At no point did he offer any kind of resolution or conversation, at the very least to reschedule the appointment. I am so beyond upset and dissatisfied with this experience and will be moving on to another practice. My inability to find the entrance wasn’t the issue, but it was the way it was handled by multiple members of staff. I can understand not being able to accept a patient because of timing conflict/tardiness, but general respect and decency should be non-negotiable when working with people. I just wanted to note my experience so that staff may potentially have training, general and hospitality, as to avoid this for other active and potential patients in the future.

Fantastic experience: Love Johnston Dental Group! Dr. Liu is wonderful and gives excellent care to me. Great staff and they treat you like family. My dental hygienist was wonderful and really listened to my concerns.

Doctor Absi is great, always providing a complete picture of how my dental health relates to my overall health. He always explains in great detail all of the options for my senior dental care.

Negative experience: The waiting room had dirty kleenex on the table,the rug was not vacuumed. I had an 8an appt. My dental exam was for 15 sec. I never meet this Dr and he spent zero time with me.in 15 sec a detailed exam could not be possible. The Dr did not even sit in the Dr chair,which could foster communication. It was lightning fast appt. The hygienist steph was nice and taught me how to care for my teeth,she was warm and friendly,encouraging communication. I know the young generation/drs are taught fast ,quick managerial money over quality or time management but This was a sad and disappointing appt,especially with the cost of medical cost.what are you really getting now. Higher cost with a 15min appt and tou dont even know your Dr anymore or building a razor. Klantini

Also, Dr. Absi stopped by to review my x-rays and speak to me about a few issues I need him to address for me. He is very committed to my care and makes me feel reassured.

Fantastic experience: This was my first visit to Johnston Dental Group. I was very pleased. My hygienist was Jordan , who did an excellent job and I was then seen by Dr. Liu who was also excellent, patient and thorough. Usually after my cleaning I have to take Motrin for the pain, this is the first time in about 30 years that I did not have any pain after a cleaning. Kudos to Jordan.

Negative experience: Great dentists, however, they cancel a lot of appointments!! When I miss an appointment, they charge me $50, but when they cancel on you. Oh well. I took a day out of work, and they canceled with less than 24 hours notice. My brother switched dentists because they canceled multiple appointments.

Negative experience: Called multiple times to see a specialist. Always got voicemail. Left messages but no call back. Got the front desk and attempted to make a appointment. Was told I would get a call back. That 2 days ago

Fantastic experience: Especially for a place that doesn’t specialize in pediatrics, the staff went above and beyond for my 3 year old. The hygienist and dentist explained everything and answered all her questions. I’m very grateful to have found this office for my family.

Negative experience: Cannot recommend this office. Had a appointment for tooth removal that took 3 months to see dr in that time period tooth got infected and I hsd to be put on antibiotics. When the day came for extraction I was told it would be $1000 for a bone graph. No prior warning of this. So I had to make an immediate decision and decided to go ahead with it. Paid bill. When my checkup arrived. It seemed like doctor was concerned about something and said I needed an xray. When his assistant took me for xray she said this should be covered because I paid for bone graph.now the dental office wants 400 for xray. I disputed it with the receptionist who said she would look into it. Still charged me. This place uses sneaky business tactics and i will no longer use them. Also will be calling the dental board and attorney General. Find another dental office this place is terrible

Fantastic experience: I had a tooth pulled yesterday which also was infected. Dr Nagy her daughter and staff were awesome. It was a experiencei I will not soon forget. I felt like family. Dr Nagy and her staff kept making sure I was comfortable throughout the whole experiencei. I found that to be super professional. It's less than 24 hours later and I feel great. Positive experience: I want to give a higher rating because I always have a good experience there while I am in the office, however, their staffing or scheduling system needs a lot of improvement. Already it is egregious to wait 6+ months for a dental cleaning appointment, then for you to be told that it has to be rescheduled because the hygienist is going to be out. Is there not some sort of temporary staffing system in place for these types of situations? Now we’re booking for next spring? It’s October!If a business is this busy, perhaps we need to consider upscaling the staffing to meet the consumers needs.

After a detailed exam, Dr. Absi expertly answered all of the questions I had about my dental health. Negative experience: Can you give a zero star review? My wife and I had three appointments canceled. My wife hasn't seen the dentist in 10 months because they keep rescheduling her. This was the last straw. Took my records and switching dentist because they refused to even make an attempt to accommodate for a cleaning. You would think after you cancel someone's appointment three previous times in a row that you would be willing to stay and work an extra half hour to get that patient seen.... I guess they make too much money over there. It's ironic as I scroll down the reviews that this is frequent enough for other people to complain about the same exact thing. It's almost like they then have their friends going and put five star reviews to offset the very negative ones.

Fantastic experience: Always a great experience when my 16 Yr old daughter has an appointment. Dentist or Hygienist always briefs me on cleaning after appointment. I canceled an appointment once for one of my daughters and they were able to get her another within a week. You never have to wait a Long period of time if you need to reschedule.

Negative experience: I waited months for an appointment, only to be cancelled 2 days prior to the appointment. The earliest appointment to re-schedule was another 4 months. Once again, office cancelled my appointment 2 days prior and then proceeded to tell me, the earliest appointment was yet, another 4 months away. And you wonder why people are afraid to go to the dentist?
