Negative experience: The Dr was nice, the problem I have is that a procedure that I need to “does not” have diagnosis code for billing to insurance so I would have to pay out of pocket. I have a problem with that especially since I work for a doctors office and never heard of that. That to me is SHADY BUSINESS and in my eye UNTRUSTWORTHY. ‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️

Fantastic experience: Talking to the doctors is like talking to a friend cuz you know it's someone that cares. She's always very friendly, very thorough, and totally professional. Fom the time you enter the waiting room you feel welcome. The desk staff is always knowledgeable and friendly. So is her support staff, she employs very capable hygienist, who care about the patience.

Negative experience: I was scheduled for a procedure at this office and was provided both a treatment plan and an associated price quote. The original appointment was set for 1/5/26; however, the physician canceled due to being out of the country. I agreed to reschedule for 1/19/26. Upon arriving for the rescheduled appointment, I was unexpectedly quoted a completely different price than the original treatment plan. The receptionist was unable to clearly explain the discrepancy and insisted that payment be made prior to any services being rendered. This was unusual, as I have received treatment at this office before and have always paid afterward. While waiting, I observed several other patients do the same—paying after services. Yet I was specifically asked to pay upfront, which felt presumptive and discriminatory. When I was called to the back, the receptionist entered the clinical area mid-consent process and continued insisting on upfront payment before any service could begin. At that point, she stated she would honor the original price but warned that I “may be billed more later,” still without any explanation other than “that’s what the computer says.” This lack of transparency and consistency was concerning. Due to the unclear pricing, abrupt policy change, and overall unprofessional interaction, I chose to decline the procedure and leave. The receptionist—not the physician—then informed me that because this was my “second cancellation,” I would no longer be allowed to schedule future appointments. For the record, I did not cancel the original appointment—the physician did. I am sharing this experience so future patients are aware of the office’s practices regarding pricing, billing, and patient treatment. It appeared that pricing and payment expectations were not standardized across patients, and the behavior felt discriminatory and unprofessional. I no longer intend to seek care at this office and hope they address the lack of transparency, communication, and respectful treatment toward patients.

Fantastic experience: I had a gingival graft done on 1/6/26 by Dr. Maliapur to treat some fairly advanced gum recession. I'm now two weeks post op and thrilled with my results. Dr. Maliapur has a lovely personality and clearly cares about her patients and their experience. I was warned in advance that a gingival graft was quite painful, but I was pleasantly surprised that, while fairly uncomfortable at times, I was able to successfully manage my pain level with just plain Tylenol and ibuprofen. Dr. Maliapur uses a laser rather than a scalpel and she's very mindful of where she takes the graft from to cause the least discomfort possible. I have no pain today and barely any swelling and I can clearly see where the graft is integrating with my gum tissue. On the front office side, scheduling is also easy and her staff are lovely. I highly recommend this practice.

Dr. Mailapur spent time with me explaining a few different procedures and did not try to influence me in any way. I would recommend her for all major treatments she performs.

Fantastic experience: My recent experience with Pulse Periodontics was exceptional. The office is very welcoming and the staff is friendly and professional. I had some serious oral surgery and it went very well. Dr. Shilpa Mailapar made sure I thoroughly understood the procedure. The oral conscious sedation was perfect. I honestly don’t remember the procedure at all. Who needs to remember pain and discomfort? I had a great outcome and I would highly recommend this facility to anyone needing periodontal care.

Positive experience: Staff is wonderful! Very kind and explain procedures. The people that cleaned and took care of me during my procedure were great. Not sure about the sedation costs, had to bring in prescription and then was charged again for an additional sedation fee when clearly had pills left over. Was told it was for safety concerns if “I didn’t wake up.” My insurance paid for the entire cost of pills. Another patient questioned same thing. Not sure what is going on, but feel as though I was taken. ‍♀️

She & her caring staff make every effort to ensure that everything goes with the minimum of discomfort and a maximum of healing. Not sure she's "got my back", but she's definitely got my gums!
