Sarah A. Smith, D.D.S.

Negative experience: My child has been coming here for some time, and overall, the staff and hygienists have always been friendly, pleasant, and great with my child. Unfortunately, I have not had the same experience with Dr. Smith. During every encounter we’ve had with Dr. Smith, she rarely acknowledges me as her parent. There is no eye contact, greeting, or communication with me regarding my child’s care. This has been especially concerning after dental procedures, when I would expect some type of communication about how the procedure went or what to expect afterward. My daughter has had four caps placed in the office, during four separate encounters. Each time, the staff and hygienists have been pleasant and helpful. However, once the procedure is completed, Dr. Smith typically returns to her office and closes the door without speaking with or acknowledging the parent. I understand that providers are busy and have many responsibilities, but communication with parents is an important part of providing good care, especially when a child is undergoing dental procedures. Unfortunately, I feel that Dr. Smith’s bedside manner and communication with parents needs work.

Fantastic experience: I took my 3 kiddos to Sarah, they had previously only been to the dentist through school because it was convenient. Sarah's team was so kind and warm and calm. The office is fun for the kids and they make scheduling for a family so easy. Sarah does a great job explaining what she recommends, and why, in clear easy to understand terms. The kids look forward to going back! Crazy right?

Fantastic experience: Very patient and helps explain everything that is going on. My daughter is full of wiggles and she is still able to safely get everything she needs done and remain patient the entire time regardless of what's going on. The office itself is awesome! Something to keeps the kids busy in the waiting room and everyone is friendly and helpful!

Fantastic experience: We love Dr. Smith and her entire team. They are extremely accommodating and patient with rascally kids, and are always willing and able to get us in quickly when we have dental emergencies, which has happened at least 3 times. They also have the best waiting room and a fun prize at the end so the kids always look forward to their dentist visit. We highly recommend Dr. Smith and the team!

Fantastic experience: Not only did they take care of my son (3.5 YO) during his scheduled appointment, they offered to look at my other son’s teeth (18 MO) so I had some concerns. After taking a look, they offered to clean his teeth right then and there so I did not have to come back for another appointment. I could not have been more thankful!!!! Thank you so much! We HIGHLY recommend this pediatric dentist! Prior review: My 4 yo daughter went under anesthesia for a lot of dental work she needed at Mercy. Dr. Smith was very kind, professional and walked us through every step of the way, before and after the procedure. My daughter did not complain of any pain afterwards and we are extremely happy with the results thus far. I would highly recommend her and her team to anyone looking for a quality pediatric dentist!

Fantastic experience: We love coming to see Dr Sarah Smith. My oldest kiddo is on the autism spectrum and we’ve been using Dr Sarah for about 5 years now, she has worked with him each visit. What started out with him crying and not wanting to go has turned into a pretty pleasant experience for him, he still sometimes doesn’t want to do it but is easily redirected. My other kiddos do great seeing Dr Sarah as well, they love getting a toy from the coin machine after their cleanings.

Fantastic experience: After my daughter having a bad experience with a previous dentist years ago she would hyperventilate and have her anxiety go extreme anytime the word dentist was mentioned we went to dr Sarah yesterday after a referral and she and not only her staff was not only amazing but made her feel completely comfortable and we made it through a whole appointment and she’s ready for her next appointment with her

Fantastic experience: I was referred to Dr. Sarah Smith by a friend of mine for my almost 6-year-old son's emergency tooth pain after I was informed by another dentist's office location that we would have to wait nine months before anything could be done because they didn't want to extract the tooth until he was under general anesthesia. Thankfully, regardless of the fact that we weren't established patients of Dr. Sarah's, when I called and explained our situation, her office staff got us in to be seen that day. And because it was a new office, my son got nervous and uneasy initially when we first arrived, but instantly as we stepped inside, he became captivated by the "two-story" play area and the tube light wall. The entire office team was exceptionally hospitable and made sure my son was comfortable and well-cared for. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Sarah's practice.

Positive experience: Wish I could rate them 4.5 stars! I am rating four out of five stars because their bedside manner and customer service is consistently above average: nearly perfect. I LOVE that they have time for all my questions, and I have recommended Dr. Smith to friends. I remember when she opened her practice decades ago, and I wish I had brought my children to be seen by her sooner! My 7 year old son has weak enamel that doesn’t readily adhere to his dentin, and their willingness to educate and inform me on his condition is pretty much perfect.

Negative experience: My daughter was absolutely traumatized here today. No bedside manner by the staff or the doctor whatsoever. A little empathy goes a long way, and instead these people just plugged along doing their thing while my child completely freaked out and no one bothered to tell me until I recognized her shrieking from the waiting room. I am livid. Why be a pediatric dentist if you don’t understand that sometimes a kid needs a second to understand what you’re about to do to them? Why would you not ask for mom to come back when she started to cry? Ugh no way I will ever bring my child back here!

Negative experience: Don’t walk. RUN from this place. We came here for a second opinion because the first pediatric dentist we went to stated our daughter had cavities (which we kinda knew but wanted it confirmed) and he never got X-rays.he also made us and our daughter uncomfortable. Luckily this place did take X-rays (only of the top teeth though. Which was our concern). The front desk lady Sarah really made our daughter feel comfortable and because of her our daughter did alright. However, dr. Smith told us our daughter (who had JUST turned two) would need a ROOT CANAL!!!!!!! I was horrified. I knew children’s teeth and cavities accelerate quickly but a root canal and a crown on a 2 year molar?!? Her tooth did not bother her at all. She said they could fill it but down the road it would need it anyways and we might as well get it over with. I immediately called my dentist and he allowed me to send her X-rays to them. They gave me their opinion and referred me to another pediatric dentist. They got us right in and our daughter did NOT NEED A ROOT CANAL!!! 2 other dentists confirmed this. Not even close. The other dentist actually was able to put something on her tooth to eat away the decay and seal the cavity so it would not accelerate further until he could get us in for a filling. That was a month or so ago. She just got it filled today and she did amazing and did not get traumatized! I can’t imagine how horrified our daughter would have been had we stayed here. I’m so glad we didn’t, and you all should feel ashamed for wanting to put a two year old through a root canal that was completely unnecessary!!!! After reading other reviews, capping teeth seems to be this woman’s go to. She clearly is not up to date with other practices and seems to not be broadly experienced. Like I said in the beginning, don’t walk….RUN from this place!!

They explained everything so well to her and myself that we felt very comfortable about what was going on. The office is very nice and fun for kids. Fantastic experience: I’m so thankful for the services we received for my foster son and Sarah and her staff was outstanding I was having a problem with getting dental care for him and he was in pain with an abscess on his right top back tooth for a whole month and a lot of other issues that her and her staff went right in and solved they are friendly kind and went above and beyond for my foster son in just about one or two weeks he had the services done yesterday and he’s doing very well they’re very much appreciated thank you guys again hope to see you all on other dental hygienes for him

For all these years, Dr Smith and her staff have been incredible. They’ve done a great job with my kids’ teeth, but also been great people. Thank you so much for EVERYTHING!

Fantastic experience: Had an amazing experience for our son here recently. He had been seen at his prior dentist several time and they were unable to get X-rays for him or cavity treatments for many months and he was having a lot of tooth pain. Dr Smith was able to see him quickly, get X-rays and a crown for his cavity on the same day. Our son has been talking about his experience for days now and is so proud of himself. Thank you to Dr Smith’s office for doing what needed to be done and giving our son a positive experience. We plan to transition all of our kids to their office.

You could not find s better practice. They really cater to kids. The dentist can be scary for young children and the whole staff makes the experience great. We needed to get X-rays and my child has special needs, and Sam did such a great job with her along with the help of other staff and it went perfectly! They took the anxiety out of the process for both my son and I and they are truly at the top of their field! I couldn't have asked for a better dentist and staff to help my son. Negative experience: Would give no stars if I could. Upon our first appt. with Dr. Smith she was not pleasant to deal with. The office made no mention to us that she was out of network and did not bother disclosing that information even after being asked several times until after the consultation and treatment appointments were done. Once they were finished with one treatment my child was terrified to go back to see her for her last treatment. They wouldnt let me in the room while my child was under anethesia. Unfortunately the treatments were very much needed and I felt obligated to stay on with her for the benefit of my child. I paid off most of the debt over time considering it was very costly. I only owed a small amount left and called up the office a year later to have my child's medical file sent to a new dentist we found and my child actually enjoyed going to. They refused to sign over the documents to me violating several hippa laws and data protection legislative acts due to a small outstanding balance. After several phone calls and telling them what they were doing was illegal only then did they finally release them to me. They don't work well with low income families and are the worst when it comes to payment plans. If your payment is due and you don't have the full amount they are trying to pull they will litteraly take whatever they can from your bank account without so much as a phone call to work with you about rescheduling the payment. Absolutely the worst dental practice I've ever dealt with and I WOULD NEVER recommend them to anyone!

Fantastic experience: I love this office and the staff. The staff are so nice and explains exactly what they doing to my daughter during treatment. The person who works the front desk is amazing! I can’t say enough how wonderful she is. She took the time to go over my daughters chart with me over the phone and answer questions and talk to the Dr for me. She is someone who goes above and beyond to take care of the patients! Dr Sarah is very kind and patient and wants what’s best for her patients. The hygienists are so patient and understanding with my daughter who is struggling with seeing the dentist because of a bad experience with a past dentist.

Fantastic experience: I was a patient of Dr. Smith as a kid and now both of my children see her. All of the staff are so amazing and patient, even with my youngest who is only a toddler and hates people being in her mouth. When my son was 5 he had to be put under for some extensive dental work (that another office wanted to do while he was awake!!!) and Dr. Smith was so calm and reassuring that instead of crying, he walked back with her for surgery, holding her hand unafraid! I won't trust any other pediatric dentist with my kids!!!

Everyone was nice, the place was VERY clean, amazing toddler play area, short wait time, she also took a lot of time to explain things in detail and was open for any questions. If you take your child here you won't regret it!
