Fantastic experience: We love Dr. Denise and Uptown Pediatric Dentistry! My little one is always comfortable and actually looks forward to coming, big plus!. The staff is pleasant, the inside is cute/playful and overall we’ve never had an issue with anything. Professional, punctual, and you can tell there is a genuine love for what they do here. If I had to find one issue, I would wish there was a second location closer to our home haha but that’s ok! We’ll gladly make the trip to come here.

The office decor is fun and engaging, and the Sonic game station was a huge hit. Super welcoming for both kids and adults — highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: We just took our almost two year-old to her first dentist appointment and it was wonderful!!! Dr Denise is a total pro. She eased in by showing Simone what she was doing washing her hands and before touching Simone, would demonstrate on me. first touching my hand and then touching Simon’s hand and then touching my cheek and then Simone’s…. She sung, “The wheels on the bus,” while doing her quick, but careful examination and teeth cleaning. The environment is filled with stimulating toys and also potent messages and people having to do with social justice! I could not have imagined a better experience.

Both hygienists did a fantastic job and Dr. Cheng was amazing. They even have a neat little token system for prizes for the kids. Both of my children said that it's their new favorite dentist office. Fantastic experience: I took my 4 year old daughter, Alita, to Uptown Pediatric Dentistry for our first visit and we had an amazing time. Dr. Carl made her smile and feel so welcome the entire time. Their decor is fun and whimsical, from little stools shaped like a giant tooth to lots of cute decorations everywhere. I can’t wait for our next visit and to bring my son too!

Fantastic experience: Our kids have felt welcomed, safe and cared for at Uptown Pediatric. They are efficient, cheerful and clearly know what they're doing. Given my dental history and the way my kids teeth are growing in, I have a feeling we'll get to know them well over the years! Also grateful they still have one dentist taking Delta Dental.

Fantastic experience: Only second appointment in, but time in and out has been efficient. Child has really hard time being with new people or doing new things. Granted we did a lot of prep for this appointment, staff here definitely made them feel comfortable and even got them to laugh during exam. I’m certainly next appointment will go even better. Parking is usually easy to find on street. The tokens at end of appointment are always a highlight. Hope to stay here for a long time

They love the fun decor, the fish, the video game and most of all the gold token prizes and stickers they earn for sitting through the checkups and cleanings. It’s a great setup and warm atmosphere. Fantastic experience: We love everyone at Uptown Pediatric Dentistry. Every visit has been pleasant, and the staff is exceptionally kind to the kids & adults alike. We had tried 2 other pediatric dentists in Oakland, and while they were not bad, I find our experience at Uptown is exceptional. Dr. Carl is so genuinely kind and friendly to the kids, they love him. It also helps that the office offers toy tokens for the kids to enjoy after their visit!

The location is very convenient, and the entire staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. The dentist is professional, knowledgeable, and fantastic with children, making both of my kids feel comfortable during their visit. Fantastic experience: I’ve been visiting Uptown pediatric dentistry for 16 years now and Dr Denise does not disappoint. She’s kind, nurturing and invested in her patients. The whole office staff is great and friendly. I would highly recommend this dentist to anyone with children. Currently my 2 kids go (we drive 36 miles one way for each appointment) and this summer all 3 of my children will be seen by Dr Denise. Clean environment and MOST IMPORTANTLY super kid friendly and calming. Keep up the great work!

Fantastic experience: My kids have NEVER said "I love it here!" about going to the dentist but Dr. Carl and the team at Denise Bass Allen have a stellar reputation for a reason: they care and treat EVERY with kindness and respect. I also believe my kids loved the fact that their dentist were beautiful and Black like them, making them feel even more welcomed. Dr. Carl is thorough and explains every procedure in detail- even if it's cleaning or oral hygiene, shows patients the x-rays and doesn't recommend unnecessary dental work to make an easy dollar. I was jealous and think I need to be a kid again so I can be seen there LOL!

Fantastic experience: We have now been to three different pediatric dentistries. While they have all been great, Uptown Pediatric Dentistry has been by far the best. Dr. Denise is wonderful, gentle and friendly. I love that my kids get to see the same dentist each time they visit. The office staff is great and the practice takes our insurance, Delta Dental! They were professional and super friendly. The way they have everything set up and decorated helps the atmosphere for kids who are feeling anxious and scared. Fantastic experience: We have been coming to see Dr. Denise and her staff since my kids were toddlers. We love it here! She and the staff are knowledgeable, and explain things to the kids in language they can understand. I started bringing in my guys to the dentist when they were little and all that needed to be done was count their teeth. The benefit was 1)to start good dental practices early and 2) by the time that the child actually needed dental work (e.g. if child had a cavity), my child was used to visiting the dentist office and had positive associations with it. Another plus is that this office is very careful about cleaning and sanitizing the workspace and equipment between each patient. They have been doing this for years prior to COVID. And as an Epidemiologist, I appreciate that!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Denise came highly recommended and lived up to the hype. My 15 month old’s first dentist visit and it went great. She was able to sit in my lap for the whole exam, which definitely increased her comfort. Even when she became a little fussy during the teeth exam Dr. Denise started singing her favorite song! The staff always has a smile on their face and ready to greet you wholeheartedly. We have been going here twice a year for six years and I can count on one hand how many times I had to wait past my appointment time. Dr. Bass-Allen is attentive and knows how to deal with children. She listens to any questions or concerns you have and addresses them. We are happy to bring our kid here for their dental needs.

Fantastic experience: Great place. Great people, great space. There's a lot of "distractions" for children to feel more comfortable, such as toys, fish aquarium, stickers... My son was a little afraid at first but we managed to make him feel safe there.

Everything was very efficient (I filled out most of the forms beforehand and got in and out of there with two kids who needed x-rays, a cleaning, and an exam in about an hour) and everyone was super kind and accommodating.

When we started with Dr. Denise, she knew his history and has gradually built up his comfort being at the dentist. Fantastic experience: From the moment I called to schedule my daughter’s appointment I knew this office was set apart from the rest. I received excellent costumer service while our information was gathered and I was asked if there was a nap time we should consider and work around before picking a time. That small consideration was just awesome to me. The day of appointment staff (everyone from receptionist to the dental assistants) were warm and friendly and helped put us at ease. Dr. Carl was awesome with my toddler. He was patient and you can tell he has experience and cool techniques to work with small children.
