She has a brilliant, healthy smile and we owe it all to the wonderful dentist at this location. She has had a LOT of dental work done, including dental surgery at 4. No one is more qualified and professional and comforting than the amazing staff here at My Kids Smile S Reno. I am so grateful for Dr. G and am so thankful for his service.

Fantastic experience: Love this dentist! We tried 4 different dentists before we settled on Dr.Gookin. He is upfront and honest. He will give you his honest advice and will not do any unnecessary procedures. The whole office is kind and my son actually said “that was fun” when we left the office.

The laser treatment they did on my 8yo was the best thing for him no pain at all and he could eat right away instead of numbing the old fashioned way. I also have a 8 year old granddaughter that also goes and she loves it because she says she likes to get a toy from the gum ball machine. He is so amazing and kind with all my kids he has this warm smile and laugh that makes my kids feel safe and not afraid to be at the dentist. He also makes this mom feel at ease every time I go in . Even my 6 yo daughter told family after her appointments “they’re really good with kids!” They know how to make kids (and parents) feel comfortable and at ease - from providing a little blanket during treatment to letting kids pick a Disney show to watch on the ceiling TV to talking about favorite Princesses to catching “sugar bugs” in their teeth. As a parent I also felt very informed during the process and the entire staff was patient and kind. We couldn’t be happier! Wish they treated adults too :) Best kids dentist ever! *UPDATE* We STILL love being patients of Dr Gookin! My 5 yo got treatment today and they patiently comforted her through some initial tears and she pulled through with a smile at the end. THANK YOU, My Kid’s Smile!

Fantastic experience: I live in Spanish springs and will drive anywhere, even Dpuble R, for my kids to see dr. Looking. Kinzey is an amazing assistant and I am so grateful for her time and diligence and patience as always. Dr. Gookin is by far the best pedo dentists in town. There are many good ones, I would consider dr. Teglia whom is closer to me, her office is amazing also! But dr. Gookin and his staff are our people.

Fantastic experience: My three kids and I came here as new patients on 1/21/21 and I have to say this is a great dentist and dentist office so far! Right when you walk in They greet you and are very friendly.It has a nice atmosphere with comic pictures on the wall from a local artist! I think it is very clean organized and welcoming. Every dental assistant that worked with my kids was super nice. when the Dentist came to see my children he was great He definitely calmed my concerns and made me feel at ease.I’m so glad we came here.Thanks my kids smile. Just an update after four years of going to My Kids Smile and getting my children’s teeth taken care of it has been absolutely Great they are very attentive and professional and kind and I feel grateful to have them as our dentist!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Gookin and his staff are amazing. We have been taking our 4 year old (stated at 3) there and he absolutely loves the dentist. He gets excited to go. Dr. Gookin finds out what interests the kids have and caters it to them when explaining what he is doing and he makes it really fun. We even needed to do a little filling and after it was over, my son said that was really fun. Dr. Gookin and the staff are always attentive to the parents as well and make sure all questions and concerns are addressed. The office is always so clean and they always have a positive and happy atmosphere. Would 10 out of 10 recommend taking your kids there.

Possibly the best part was the laser they use instead of numbing them and drilling into the tooth. No shots needed! My son needed a filling and was nervous, but the process with the laser was so easy he said he barely noticed it. If you need a pediatric dentist this is the place to go!

Fantastic experience: Every time I've brought my children (2 and 9) into my kids smile the staff is amazing!!! I have a pre-teen who doesn't love brushing and flossing and asked Jenny to please relay the scary facts about periodontal disease and what can happen if you don't brush. Jenny was absolutely amazing!!! Showed my pre-teen images and gently explained how to properly care for her teeth even gave her a quiz! She left educated and excited to take care of her teeth! Jenny is a superstar and the doctors and all staff at my kids smile are amazing!! They even have video games in the waiting room :)

Dr. Gookin and his team were exceptional in every way. They made her feel comfortable from the start, turning a potentially scary situation into something fun. Dr. Gookin even created imaginative stories about chasing sugar bugs while working on her tooth, which had her laughing throughout the procedure. Best of all, she experienced no pain during the treatment and wasn't even sore the next day. The entire team was warm, welcoming, and genuinely cared about our experience.

My daughter is on the autism spectrum and has sensory issues with anything touching her! Especially her mouth!! Dr. Gookin set her up with “smile visits” where it’s a great system for your kid with special needs to build trust and rid the fear of going to the dentist. My daughters dental assistant, Itzel (She goes by “Izy”) is amazing! So positive, gentle and kind. My daughter recently had 8 (it was 8 or 9) baby teeth removed under the sedation of their anesthesiologist. He was great! It’s all done in-house. Everything went so smooth and the photo I included in this review was not even 48 hours after her procedure. Dr. Gookin is probably the BEST pediatric dentist you’ll ever find! I did hours of research before I decided to make her first appointment because I knew it was super important to find the right dentist after re-locating to Reno. She gets plaque buildup along her gums because of her limited diet. Finding the right dentist is a must for not just all parents in general but also incredibly important for those with special needs children as it’s so difficult to endure a bad dental experience. You’ll find you made an excellent choice coming here! The office staff are all really efficient with scheduling and insurance processing. The waiting room is fun and inviting for kids. They get a token after each visit for a prize. I’m so glad we found this practice! The assurance and gratitude of walking out of this office after every visit is hands down, life changing! We were paired with Itzel for the cleaning and she was great with my 5 yr old son. While we waited for Dr. Gookin, she got a whiteboard, markers and started playing tic tac toe with my son. Fantastic experience: Having been to a few children’s dentist I would say that this place is hands down the best. The level of care and patience in dealing with my son is above and beyond! He went from nervous to excited and the best part is they were happy to take their time getting there. 5 stars highly recommend! Edit: I read some of the negative reviews and there is talk about waiting. Yes I waited but it is apparent why that is. This staff is patient and kind with each child. There is no way you can keep that up without some level of delay. I know I would value the comfort of my kid over an extra 10 min or so. Five stars!

Fantastic experience: Phenomenal Experience, start to finish. Assistants, receptionists, and Dentist were all competent, thorough, and kind. Dr. Gookin was amazing. Very clear, ensured our understanding, and clearly invested in the quality of care we received. The superhero themed office was just icing on the cake. Today he had his first ever dental procedure other than a cleaning and they helped him through it beautifully. Fantastic experience: Love love love this office. Dr. Gookin is amazing and nice. Best Dentist ever. The hygiene assistants are gentle and nice. My kids just love coming here. We are grateful thankful and blessed to be here. Keep up the amazing work.

Fantastic experience: Update: We were back today for my son's cleaning and I wasn't sure how he would do since he a little older now but he did great with the staff as they are so very patient. He was talking up a storm and was able to sit in the big boy chair himself to do his cleaning and exam. I'm so very grateful for this office as everyone is so amazing with the kids and Dr Gookin is simply amazing at what he does. My kids have zero fear of the dentist and I'm so very happy about that as I didn't have the same experience as a child. My daughter needed a filling done about a month ago or so and she did great also. They gave her laughing gas to help relax her and she has had zero complaints about the procedure. She thought it was quite funny how the gas made her feel. I would recommend this office to anyone with kiddos and I do! I absolutely love Dr. Gookin and his staff. It was very important to me to find my young children a dentist they are comfortable with because I had bad experiences as a child and didn't want to pass on my fears to them. Dr. Gookin is thorough, gentle, explains everything and is absolutely amazing with kids. My daughter loves him. We just took my 10 month old baby for his first appointment and he did great. No crying or anything. My only reason for 4 starts is I felt it was overcrowded during our visit. With covid it's already scary going to the dentist, so it just felt a bit overwhelming with a baby who can't wear a mask. But I believe it's due to orthodontics now being in the same building.

Fantastic experience: Been with Dr. Gookin and his wonderful staff at My Kids Smile- Reno for the last 5 years, and they are always so kind, patient, and caring with my girls. My kids always leave happy and I am thankful for all that they do.

Fantastic experience: I'm so thrilled and excited that we found our dental office for our children!!!. For me(mother) being in the dental field over 10 years I still get anxious and worried that we might come across an office that will have no patient care. As for first time Np's my kids. They loved this place. Dr. Gookin was amazing He answered all my questions and took me off an edge where I was really concerned for my 4 year old to get dental treatment done. His assistant Valerie was phenomenal . She took care all of my 3 children. Very professional side manners. I really hope she's the Team Leader for Assistants. I can't really say the same for the front desk that checked me in. Wasn't very welcoming . Mayte who is the treatment coordinator was amazing.. She answered all my questions and we got to now a little about each other. Made it seem like a family environment We have to return for some treatment for 2 of my kids and I hope the experience will be the same as how our first time was. I highly recommend this pediatric dentist. You won't be disappointed. Thank you again My Kid's Smile team for making it a great experience. Fantastic experience: This is hands down the perfect dentist for kids. I have one who loves the dentist and one who is terrified and it has become such a break through with my child who is scared of dentists. They continuously work with him and he has become so happy to be here and it has so much to do with the way the staff interacts with them. They are confident with him, patient and help him ease into it without any stress. I recomend this office to EVERYONE. I live in sparks and make the trip here just for this staff. Thank you guys for taking amazing care of my kids.

Fantastic experience: Dr.Gookin is the BEST!!! All Staff is amazingly nice. Always so comforting with my son, I highly recommend them if you have little ones! Dr.Gookin has been seeing my son since he was a little over 1 and now he’s 6!

Fantastic experience: This is the best dentist office in the Reno/Sparks area! We drive across town to see Dr. Gookin at the Double R location. Even though there is a My Kid’s Smile right by our house. We have tried a few other dentist offices in town. But we love this location the best, hands-down! Dr. Gookin is very patient and kind, I love that they have the TVs on the ceiling while the kids lay back in the chair, & my kids love the quarter machine prizes at the end. My kids used to freak out at the dentist, but not at this office. They are no longer afraid to go to the dentist.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Gookin and his staff give excellent service. My kids (5&8 years old) do pretty good now but they didn’t start off happy about being at the dentist. They were skeptical. Over time the staff and doc have won them over so they are good visiting the office. This office is friendly and patient with the kids (and parents ). I love how they genuinely care and listen. Even though they’re always very busy they/he takes the time to focus on you and your child when they’re with you. From all our experiences here, I’ve seen he makes decisions based on what’s best for our kids, not what’s convenient for him. Just what we parents hope for in a dentist!

Fantastic experience: Best experience I have had with a pediatric dentist hands down. Dr. Gookin and his assistant were so kind and friendly with my 9 year old. They explained everything to him in a fun way and went above and beyond to make him comfortable throughout the entire procedure. 10/10 would recommend!
