Negative experience: Why do you always call at the last minute to cancel my child’s appointment while I’m already driving them there? Then you reschedule it from the beginning of the year all the way to the end. Having an appointment canceled three times is frustrating. I usually hear about patients canceling appointments, but at this clinic it seems like the dentist is the one who keeps canceling.

Negative experience: Worst place ever I went there once and they had yucky stuff and like bleh

Negative experience: Would not believe my son that he needed to use the restroom and then he peed himself and they took no responsibility for it at all. The next appointment they would not honor his wishes of not getting the polish on his teeth so they said he was no longer allowed to come to them. the short stocky thin haired lady is horrible.

Negative experience: Impossible to get ahold of the front desk to reschedule an appoitment

Negative experience: Called the front desk and the person told methey don’t take patients over the age of 10 in a very rude tone. Even though there is a lack of mention of that detail and half the reviews here beg to differ. Not sure if I was lied to or if the policy has changed recently. Either way was treated very rudely on the phone making me out to be the bad guy for not knowing.

Negative experience: I moved from out of state to NE Iowa 2 years ago. Finding there are no resources at all available within 2-3 hours drive. We chose Ocean Dental. 3 hours away. Had to find an office who also sees kids over 10years old(weird Iowa thing). This is the worst experience with a pediatric dental office. I have a 20,15 & 5 year old. I'm experienced. Don't need my oldest seen here. Terrible customer service if you can get anyone on the line and not a bot or bot voicemail that won't call you back for months on end. No full-time hygienist... Months booked out and rescheduled 2 separate times due to this. Their issue. Then pushes your appointment to the back of the line. Very unorganized. Very unprofessional. One of my children requires dental care to prevent infection but doesn't make any difference to them without major push back. I call my other office in my home state and it was such a joy and pleasant experience. They are seeing my kids in 2 weeks. I'm driving 5 hours for proper care, but not waiting 3 months for Ocean Dental to have a hygienist available that will probably reschedule a week or days in advance. Do better Ocean Dental and Iowa dental care. You do it because you can. This is sad for the medicaid families and the needs of those children. If there were a zero option or negative option after 2 years of this. I would choose that. This is not normal.

Fantastic experience: This is the first dentist I would give my 100% trust to every single dentist I have been to has been in the teeth pulling business . Ocean dental is the first dentist that wants to keep my sons teeth because they don’t need pulled they take the time to actually care about there patients I wouldn’t go anywhere else

Fantastic experience: They are extremely patient with kids. They always make it a fun and positive experience for my kids! They don't making it scary like how it was for me being raised.

Negative experience: Anyone else have issues getting a hold of anyone to make an appointment? I have been calling and requesting appointments via online for a month and no one has reached out. Becoming very frustrated with this. I guess I will be taking my business elsewhere as they don't seem to need it.

Negative experience: I have had good experiences with 2 people in this clinic and my children have been going here for about 8 years now. Unfortunately, almost every time we come here I feel very dismissed and not heard. I almost feel like I have to rush to speak before I am cut off or like I am bothering them. I would like a conversation before hand about what my autistic son will need and I worry about him while he's back there without me. It's a krappy feeling seeing as how bad teeth run in our family and this is an issue that causes me a ton of worry every day.

Fantastic experience: Hildy is an amazing contribution to your establishment! My granddaughter was pretty scared throughout her visit, but Hildy did and awesome job getting her through the entire process and I couldn't thank her enough for a job well done!

Negative experience: The staff at the front desk are disrespectful and rude. I felt discriminated against by the staff and doctors. I went for wisdom tooth removal and they kept ignoring me when I told the nurse and the doctor I could feel the pain. It was painful because I had all 4 removed and I felt every pull. I had to hold the table I was laying on. The doctor said stop moving the while nurse give me a nasty look. All I could do was cry. I couldn’t have my parents there due to their policy. I was uncomfortable with everything. Don’t ever take your kids here.

Negative experience: Policies deny parents access to their children during exams and procedures. These policies increase potential abuse and do not provide safe and non employee advocates for minors. During an after procedure talk my child (11) stated feeling pain during the procedure, the hygienist corrected him saying it was only pressure, he then stated again, no it hurt bad, and the hygienist ignored him. I, the parent, was not able to meet or talk to a dentist, the dental hygienists act as messengers. I would categorize this as a "chop shop" dental practice for minors.

Negative experience: Will never return calls, does not listen to patient or guardians. Go anywhere but this place, avoid at all costs.

Fantastic experience: Ocean Dental is a great place to take your children. They take time and make sure that your children have the best dental care.

Negative experience: If I could give no stars I would they literally have the worst staff ever if you go in the back doctors are a disappointment came back they are very disrespectful

Fantastic experience: Very awesome! The staff were amazing and patient with children. I mad my daughter's first dentist appointment today and I can admit that I was nervous. The staff eased my nervousness and they provided great service.

Negative experience: My worst experience ever in different occasions , my son has got a teeth which is paining him a lot and his gum is swollen I called on Friday, they couldn’t help instead they told me to wait till Monday and they couldn’t do anything for him for emergency and this is not the first. I am disappointed with this place I will never take him there again

Negative experience: Got my wisdom teeth done. They didn’t numb me up enough and told me to shut up while I was in pain. Every worker was extremely rude. I’ve been going there since I was little and I’m definitely not going back

Negative experience: They cancel my appointment 3 times, can you believe it or not. Also, my brother and sister had a appointment on July 23rd, 2021 at 4pm and they need it before school start this August. When we were arrived there, the staff told us that the clinic was close at 3pm. Moreover, they didn’t even call us or gave us a notice that the clinic going to be closed. If they’re going to be closed at that time why they scheduled us at 4pm. The front staff also so rude they need more training. To whoever belong to Ocean Dental clinical if you read this review please considering the staffs who work there, they need more trading on how to schedule people and more training on how to respect other cultures.

Negative experience: Dont take your kids here. You'll regret it. I took both my boys here. They had the worst experience they've ever had with a dentist. I waited for 7 months for a referral to iowa city for my special needs son. I finally switched dentist's. I was told that his tooth would need to be pulled and they were going to refer him to iowa city, come to find out they didnt have a treatment plan for him. They told the new dentist that he had never been seen there and didnt have xrays on file. I called and asked about it they sent the files over to the new dentist. Then i find out ocean dental didnt even check him out or anything. The service there was horrible. They dropped the ball and didnt care about my son at all. Just like many other patients. Dont put your kids through this. Go to south side dental.

Fantastic experience: My 7 year old grandson had a severe toothache and no one else could get him in for at least a month. They got him right in within a day or two and they had the two teeth that were bothering him out within around 30-45 minutes and he didn't shed one tear. Even better, he has more dental work to be done and he's not scared to go back. I can't thank them enough!

Negative experience: My kids says this is the worst dentist they ever went to! No one has nice manners they don’t treat kids very nice and are completely rude to everyone! We’ll NEVER go back. Not even sure how they are still a running office!

Negative experience: Was a great place, was my go to dentist forever, then was told I can't make an appointment because they're only seeing kids during covid. Worst business model ever, evidently only kids have dental issues right now. Will never recommend again.

Negative experience: Never have been impressed with this place. Now this time they calk my wife with an appt reminder for my kids stating the time in the morning, then I got a confirmation text stating the times were in the afternoon. So I called to see what was up and after waiting on hold forever I was told that they didn't even have appts until the following week. Kinda hard to plan for time off and such when they can't get there act together.

Fantastic experience: This place is wonderful! I had to take the time to write this review because the staff there were very nice, friendly helpful and went above and beyond. Also the whole dental procedure was not painful. I will highly recommend this place.

Negative experience: Claimed I had tons of cavities that needed filled...never had a cavity in my life... Got a 2nd opinion...i had ZERO cavities!!! I also have a few friends this has happened to them or their children!

Negative experience: If I was able to give them 0 stars I would. Took my daughter for her 6 month cleaning on August 14, 2019, appointment was from 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm, all was fine, no cavities. My daughter had another 6 month cleaning on 2/19/2020 from 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm, this time was told she had 5 cavities. Nothing was said to us at the appointment in August about watching the teeth that were developing cavities. Cavities just don't happen overnight. You would think if she had cavities the dentist would've filled them to prevent them from becoming cavities. My daughter and I will not be returning to this dental place. As of yesterday my daughter has a new dentist.

Negative experience: My kids always come back out telling me the people are rude and mean to them and since we are not allowed in the back the only thing I can do is wait til they get out and talk to the rep or whoever they saw.

Negative experience: Came in for emergency had an appointment had to wait over an hour past my appointment time while people who got there after me went in first. Three nice ladys gave me an xray an led me to a room where i met the dentist. She could barley speak or understand english. She took a sharp point object an jab inside my broken tooth. I let her know it hurt. Then she turned looked at her computer came back to me an jab inside my tooth again at this time it made me mad an i made myself well known it hurt an not to do it again. Then she did it a third time at that point i was beyond mad. I pulled away an sat up. She then put her stuff down she was poking me with an left the room.She made my tooth go to severe pain then left. I asked for meds cuz i couldnt get the pain to go away an that she hurt me. The assistant said she had to ask so she went an asked an the dentist refused me meds for the pain she put me thru. Will never go back or bring my kids here again!. This place has gone downhill.

Negative experience: I will never darken the door of Ocean Dental ever again. I had a 4:30 appointment for my daughter. We walked in the door 3 minutes late because we witnessed an accident and had to stop and call 911. They refused to see her because she was 3 minutes late. Absolutely ridiculous. I do not understand what the problem was 3 minutes not even 5 minutes. We have always had good service there but today was absolutely horrible and I will never ever darken their door again!

Positive experience: This saddens me but I really dislike the open floor they have. I watched through the window as the lady was cleaning my sons teeth, she hardly said a word to him, instead she was taking across him and having a conversation with another worker.

Negative experience: Once upon a time this place was decent, customer service has gone down terribly, not to mention the manager onsite, you can't expect much when she lacks professionalism herself. I scheduled an appointment 3 weeks out and 30 minutes prior to going I get a call and was advised my insurance MetLife was not accepted there.I had mentioned my new insurance at time of appointment 3 weeks earlier. Now Kids had stayed home from school for this appointment. The manager not wanting to take any responsibility did what most teenagers do or corporate brats do and started to blame others. She would talk over me and did not care about the situation. I am glad I got to know their real side on handling a simple matter, imagine something bigger, I would never trust my children to this organization.

Positive experience: Still don't like this officeto much but the dentist and dental assistant was great. Made my son not nervous at all when he was getting his cavity capped!

Negative experience: When i called 2 months ago they checked my insurance said they take it. My appt got rescheduled for a month later because the doctor wasnt there. And now here i am at my appt and apparently they cant take my insurance. So i wont be seeing the dentist after all. I dont reccomend coming here youll just get the run around.

Fantastic experience: For someone who doesn't particularly care for dentistry, Ocean Dental was kind polite and did the best they could to keep me calm. I would truly recommend them for children and those who have title 19 or medicaid.

Positive experience: Quick and friendly.. always in and out. The staff is nice and the office is always clean.

Negative experience: Very unprofessional. The whole time they were checking my teeth the dentist was making inappropriate side comments with her assistant. Since I am 17 and I couldn’t have my family go with me due to work, I had my boyfriend take me. The assistant asked if that was my boyfriend outside and I answered yes and she gave me a disgusted look. It seemed they were all about judging me. (Commenting on my tattoo/ piercings) When it came to cleaning my teeth that was when the belittling started I would of said something if I wouldn’t of had tools in my mouth. I was so uncomfortable with the vibes they were giving off it felt like even if I did say something or showed them I was upset that it would of just been worse. I’m never going there again and I strongly suggest you don’t take your children here. Very negative environment.

Fantastic experience: I'm on Medicaid and needed my wisdom teeth out and this was the closest dentist I found. It was a bit embarrassing being the only adult alone there, with a lot of families and stuff designed for kids, but the staff, including the doctor who removed my teeth, were all very kind and helpful. Reccomended!

Negative experience: The worst experience ever! The staff worked on my foster children only to come back for a follow up stating the couldn’t share anything with me being there was nothing stating I was the guardian. I informed them over the phone and when checking in that I was the foster parent. The ordeal of taking the children back without a parent doesn’t sit well either, especially without a heads up or explanation!!! Seems they were just out for payments through Medicaid because they made sure it was current when scheduling even.

Negative experience: Dr. Cheek what HORRIBLE!!!! He didnt wait till i was numb to start the shots to extract my wisdom teeth. The front desk had horrible service and they are very very unorganized!! Parents or partners are not allowed in the back until your ready to leave. I definitely will not be recommending Ocean Dental to anyone.

Negative experience: TERRIBLE!!!!!!! The lady behind the glass window/counter was very rude, made no eye contact and had a very crappy attitude. The tv in the dirty waiting room was so loud you could not hear them call your name when int was time to go back and they had to yell just to barely be able to hear them. the person who called me back to "discuss" my sons treatment plan spoke 50 miles an hour not concerned with explaining the process or what they were going to do to my son at all, not concerned with ensuring that i understood what they would be doing to my son, and for a 1:00 appointment with no treatment other than having 4 sealants applied we were there for 3.5 hours! This was the most unpleasant experience I have ever had at a dental office! Very unprofessional staff, very dirty place, and patients are treated as if they work on an assembly line just moving them through like factory style, just at a VERY slow pace!

Positive experience: The staff was really nice and friendly but the wait was very long and it turns out they couldn't provide the service I needed so I wasted a day and half a tank of gas for nothing.

Negative experience: Came to an appointment at 345pm and there was a staff vacuuming in the lobby with a vacuum so loud I wasn’t able to hear the lady when checking in and couldn’t hear them call us back for our appointment. Not really the environment I want to sit in at the end of the day. I understand that things need to be cleaned up at the end of the day but while you have patients in your waiting room an hour before closing time just doesn’t seem professional to me.

Negative experience: My daughter and I were treated very poorly at my grandchildrens dental appointment. They refused to let her be with her children while getting their teeth cleaned. They talked to her like she had no clue what she was doing. Very rude and disrespectful. Will not be going back.

Fantastic experience: I went in for a crown, because of a chipped tooth that was too bad to build up. Everyone was very friendly, and reassuring, as I am not a big fan of the dentist! Let's just say, I've never had a dentist on my Christmas card list! Very professional! Dr. Dali, (sic?) was amazing, as were the numerous assistants that I saw on the two visits! She was very thorough and meticulous, to get it just right! I've never had dental work, whether it was a build up or filling, that felt this good! Usually when you leave, the work that was done feels rough or weird, but this feels smooth and natural! I'm amazed!!!! Thank you Ocean Dental!! I will refer people to your practice!!!!

Fantastic experience: So, we’ve gone here since our first 2 kids started seeing the dentist. We’ve been a fan since the beginning, since they’re specifically for children! Everyone there is really friendly, and this visit, they finally have a dental hygienist that got my 11 yr old and my 3 yr old to get their X-rays without gagging and throwing up! This visit was the best one yet. And they make all 4 appointments at the same time with no issues since we drive an hour to get here. All in all, this place is great!!!! And they take adults now!

Negative experience: The staff are all rude the oral surgeon was so rude told me to suck it or he will just stop and send me somewhere else and he also drilled my cheek on the out side and said it was no big deal just suck it up needless to say the oral surgeon there made giving birth look like a walk in the park compared to getting your wisdom teeth removed

Fantastic experience: The staff here are great! I was late leaving work to get my son & get him to his appointment, I called them to say I may be 20 mins late but they were kind and accommodating. We didn't have to wait more than 5 mins & the dental assistant was so sweet to my son! She took the time to explain to him what she was going to do before she did it. He's only 4 so that was good for him. The dentist was kind & quick, but also took the time to answer all my questions. Then after the exam, the dental assistant took us to pick out a child-size t-shirt, coloring materials, stickers, & toothbrush. They were so nice. At first I dreaded driving all the way to the eastside, but for this great of service I gladly will!! Thanks Ocean Dental ladies!!

Fantastic experience: What more can I say? I LOVE Ocean Dental! ( especially Dr. Cheek the oral surgeon and his assistant Tanisha) From the front office staff who are extremely personable and helpful to everyone in between...even the check out process was simple timely and so helpful. Everyone worked as a team to put my mind at ease and I would HIGHLY recommend Ocean Dental to anyone. Thanks!

Negative experience: DO NOT TAKE YOUR KIDS HERE!! You can’t be with your kids you have to stand outside the room on a one way mirror window and my daughter was crying and I wasn’t allowed to go to her she is 6 years old my oldest got a filling and the dentist dropped the drill in my sons mouth and broke the inside of the the tooth they were suppose to be fixing my son is in a lot of pain and can’t close his mouth and can’t chew his food so I have to find a dentist to fix what they broke

Negative experience: Most unprofessional staff I have ever seen working with children. My daughter paperwork and someone else paperwork got mixed up and my daughter info was give out on the phone to a different family as they wrote someone else number down in. My daughter paperwork. I will never go back !!

Positive experience: I love that they send text reminders and the staff really do their best to make my children comfortable when they see that they are nervous about a treatment.
