Fantastic experience: I had the pleasure of meeting Dr Watts during covid when an emergency tooth pain I had needed a root canal. She was so kind, explained every step she was doing and helped me at a time when finding a specialist was challenging. Now a few years later and a different dental office, I was told I needed another root canal and deep down I was hoping Dr. Watts would be one of the referring doctors and she was. Just like before I had an amazing experience and she talked me through everything. What I remembered a few years ago and still holds true to this day is her passion for what she does and her patients. It's not just a job for her, but it's ministry and I pray God continues to guide her. Additionally, the staff at Afton are incredibly sweet, always smiling which is needed before you're about to get poked a time or two with a needle, lol. I hope I won't ever need a root canal, but if I did I know where to go. And I know who to refer to my family and friends.

Fantastic experience: Don't like having to go to dentist, especially for surgical procedures. But am thankful for them when needed suddenly. Was seen within 2 days of needing appointment. Office bright & clean & office staff cheerful & helpful. Dr Zak James explained procedure well & was careful to let me know what was happening at all times. His assistant checked with me through out the procedure to keep me calm. Best place to go for a root canal.

He was gentle and made me feel at ease, that is something that is very hard to do at the dentist office. I literally get anxiety in the parking lot. I wish he was my dentist in college, before I had my traumatic experience. I probably would have better oral health now. I can't say enough great things about him, I have already referred him to 3 of my friends. I have to have another root canal in a few weeks, I'll definitely be using Dr. James again. My Nurse Annette Ashely was compassionate and explained what she was doing as well. My Husband waited for me in the waiting room and said the couch was very comfortable .

Fantastic experience: I had a root canal yesterday and was horrified at the thought of having this procedure, but was put at ease as soon as I met Dr Watts. She was so kind and explained everything that she would be doing and even showed me the items she would be using. The numbing injection was the easiest and most pain free I have ever received. The procedure itself was completely painless - just a little tiring. Dr Watts and her assistant were gentle and made sure I was comfortable the whole time. Negative experience: I came here because I was referred by a emergency clinic. I was in TERRIBLE pain the whole night before. I was told I needed a root canal specialist. So I waited overnight and roughed it out. The dentist here did nothing to help my pain. Only told me I didn’t need a root canal and that I needed to find somewhere to get my tooth pulled. Charges me $500 and sent me on my way with a “sorry”.

Fantastic experience: For the first time in nearly a year, I am sitting here enjoying my coffee this morning without sensitivity on my #15 Molar. And last evening I enjoyed a drink with ice cubes without shooting pain for the first time since I can't remember. Sometimes the simple things in life give us the most pleasure. I must say that my experience at Afton Endodontics was top notch! As a professional consultant I completely appreciate the power of good communication and service. Dr. Watts and team were absolutely phenomenal for the entire experience. The procedure was over in less than one in a half hours from the time I walked in the door until the time I left. And I love the early bird appointment option. Dr. Watts is an early riser as am I so getting the 7:00 appt was a plus. By noon I was eating lunch with no pain. Hardly any side effects except a little swelling which is nothing compared to the shooting pains endured when drinking a glass of water before yesterday. Dr. Watts is also very animated and shares a variety of stories during the process that are both interesting and fun to hear making the procedure flow like an orchestral movement. it was a genuine pleasure to be there and enjoy a not so fun experience in a way that should dampen any fears one might have about having a root canal. The science has changed quite a bit since my last one 10 years ago. So if you need a root canal and are sitting there in pain not enjoying your food and/or drink, get a referral without delay and get the job done! Don't stay in pain another day! Call Dr. Watts and get the early bird appointment! You will be glad that you did! Thank You Dr. Watts!

Fantastic experience: TLDR; I felt no pain. Dr Zak James did a phenomenal job. So I had an emergency root canal yesterday and my dentist sent me to Afton Endodontics after saying how much they trust them. And now I can see why. I've never had a root canal before and definitely wasn't planning on starting my 2026 with a fractured tooth, but Afton Endodontics were amazing. I've heard so many horror stories of root canals and it's always been my worst case scenario at the dentist but honestly if you have to have one, then I highly recommend this place. I was bracing myself to be in at least some pain during the procedure but honest to God, I felt no pain. The only thing I really felt were the vibrations of the drill but it didn't hurt. Also Dr James went above and beyond to double check something that was a concern and I really appreciate him for that. All in all, the staff at AE from reception to the doctor were all kind and compassionate. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Dr Watts was so lovely! I don’t usually leave great dentist reviews but I went in to get 2 root canals and she was able to diagnose my issue and give me multiple options. She was very cognizant of cost and finding the best solution regardless of whether that meant doing a root canal at that appointment or not. She was also very friendly and the office was very nice. She was the only doctor to adjust my tooth and not just move to a root canal and it’s already feeling better! Just a note- the office is separate from Afton dental which is at the bottom of the stairs and Endodontics is a short walk up stairs or in the back parking lot.

Emma was especially helpful—she introduced me to a company called Cherry for financing part of my procedure. I was worried because my insurance didn’t cover it, but thanks to Emma, I had another option besides using my HSA account. She patiently answered all my questions and offered great advice. Dr. James was also amazing—kind, professional, and made me feel completely comfortable during my root canal. He did an incredible job and truly cares about his patients. I would absolutely recommend Afton Endodontics to all my family and friends. If I could, I’d give them 10 stars! I’m truly grateful for their care and expertise.

Fantastic experience: I came to Afton Endodontics expecting the worst scenario but hoping for the best . I wasn't disappointed because the entire staff put me at ease. When Dr. James informed me that a root canal would not be necessary i couldn't be more surprised or happier. I was able to go about my day feeling 10 feet tall. I felt like a heavy weight was lifted and the rest of the day was much better than I thought it would be ....not to mention the fact that the bill was half of the estimate. Oh happy day. Fantastic experience: Well-run office. Checking in and out was smoothly taken care of. They were friendly and courteous, helpful in every way. Doctor didn’t try to convince me to have work done that was not necessary. Sent me on my way, after a hefty charge for the minimal testing, mostly X-rays. However, in their favor, they deleted the charge for one of the X-rays. That knocked off over $200. Unfortunately, at the age of 82, it’s hard to deal with the inflated costs of today, for EVERYTHING! Just saying. I’m sure the other specialists are charging similar rates. Thankfully, my insurance will help, but I’m not sure how much.

The staff were very professional providing options and probable costs if a procedure was necessary. Dr Watts was thorough and compassionate. Fantastic experience: I was referred to Afton by my general dentist and I'm so glad for it. I got care from Dr Zak James who spoke to me with kindness. He was very straightforward and knowledgable about what would work best for me and its great to know there are still places out there that care about their patients and not just money hungry. Also the assistant was so helpful. I had fillings done earlier that day and was so swollen and hungry. She was so kind and got me a protein shake. While I ended up not needing the original treatment we thought I did I would still refer this for others as it was a great experience and team

Negative experience: DONT EVER GO TO THIS DENTIST ! they tell you a price over the phone and then when you get there it’s way over what they say on the phone then what my friend got done and I heard Zak James say because I was in the room with my friend the whole time he said “imma just clean it up and do a tenporary fill in because it wasn’t at the nerve and when we go to leave they said they did a root canal but they didn’t there were very rude don’t ever go here they suck !
