Negative experience: Everyone at Thrive Dental was very friendly, but the quality of work is lacking. I had two routine cavities taken care of here and my bite was thrown completely off. I went back to get the bite adjusted and Dr. Golden adjusted too much and didn’t smooth the places where he adjusted. Almost immediately after the work, my teeth started to hurt really bad and I ended up needing two root canals. I’ve switched to a different dentist who is trying to fix my bite now (I didn’t have problems with my bite before Dr. Golden). I also don’t like how they are offering an electric toothbrush as a prize for leaving 5 star reviews.
Negative experience: Unacceptable billing practices and zero accountability. This office sent our account to a collections agency before they even billed our insurance properly. Now that they’ve finally corrected their filing mistake and are waiting on the insurance payout, they are completely refusing to pull the account out of collections. When we brought this massive oversight to the office manager, she completely brushed it off and claimed nothing could be done. It is completely unethical to damage a patient’s credit score because your administrative staff doesn’t know how to file insurance claims correctly the first time. Avoid this place unless you want a massive financial headache and terrible customer service.

Our office follows established billing and collections policies that are applied consistently to all accounts. Before any account is eligible for outside collections, multiple billing statements and attempts at communication are made to provide ample opportunity for questions or resolution.
We also do not seek payment from both a patient and their insurance for the same balance. Insurance claims are submitted in accordance with the information available, and any payments received from an insurance carrier are applied appropriately to the account. If additional information, claim corrections, or appeals are needed, our team works with patients and insurance companies to help resolve those issues whenever possible.
If you would like to discuss your concerns further, we encourage you to contact our office directly. We are always happy to review any questions privately and work toward an appropriate resolution.

We ask patients to confirm their appointments because it allows our team to properly prepare for each visit and ensures that reserved appointment times are used efficiently. When we aren't able to confirm an appointment, we may offer that time to another patient who is waiting to be seen.

Fantastic experience: I had a wonderful experience at Thrive Dental! I was able to get an appointment much sooner than I expected, which was incredibly convenient. From the moment I walked in, the front office staff was warm, welcoming, and incredibly friendly. The dentist and the entire team took the time to actively listen to all of my concerns without making me feel rushed. They thoroughly explained what they found, discussed my treatment options, and made sure I understood every step of the process. Fantastic experience: I went back to Thrive Dental for my second cleaning and it was another great experience! They make me feel right at home and was the perfect choice after moving here!! Dr Golden, his hygienist and workers are very nice and accommodate all your questions. The chairs were so comfy and they have TVs on the ceiling which is a plus! Keeps you distracted and makes your visit go quick. If you’re in the area I recommend trying them. 10/10 experience.

Negative experience: I hate to leave a less-than-positive review because there were several things I genuinely appreciated about my visit. The office was clean, welcoming, and professional, and Dr. Golden was excellent. He took the time to explain my situation, answer my questions thoroughly, and discuss treatment options with empathy and care. I scheduled the appointment because I had lost a crown and wanted to address the issue while also establishing care with a new dental provider. Since I am currently transitioning insurance plans, I expected to pay cash for the visit and was pleased to learn they were offering a $99 new-patient exam special. After paying the $99 fee, I was taken back, had X-rays taken of the problem tooth, and met with Dr. Golden. He reviewed my options, answered all of my questions, and provided a treatment plan, it was very prompt and took all of about 15 mins. When I asked about pricing, a receptionist came in with a breakdown of the proposed treatment. As we wrapped up, I asked about the exam itself because, aside from the X-ray and discussion regarding the crown, I hadn't received what I typically associate with a new-patient dental exam. There was no comprehensive review of my overall oral health, gums, or remaining teeth. Asking her, I learned I had been given a limited exam rather than a comprehensive exam based on information from my intake forms. Naturally, I asked what the comprehensive exam included and what it cost. I was surprised to learn that it was the same $99 price. Had that distinction been explained beforehand, I would have chosen the comprehensive exam without hesitation. As a new patient, it doesn't make sense to me why I would knowingly choose a limited exam when a comprehensive exam was available for the same cost. The receptionist knew I was between insurance plans and suggested that I return later and use my insurance for the comprehensive exam. From a patient's perspective, that solution made little sense. I had already taken time off work, driven to the office, paid out of pocket, and dedicated time to the appointment. If both exams were the same price, I believe the options should have been clearly explained upfront so I could make an informed decision. (I subtly heard, “We don’t have time” as she left, so the issue wasn’ that it couldn’t be done or rescheduled. It was just not convenient for to circle back to the room and service me even though I was still in the exam chair with the napkin on) What disappointed me most was that there seemed to be several opportunities to resolve the situation. Whether that meant completing the comprehensive exam that day, scheduling me to return a different day and honoring the fee I had already paid, or simply providing better communication from the beginning, a more customer-focused approach would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, what should have been the start of a long-term relationship with this practice left me feeling disappointed. I was already mentally committed to moving forward with a treatment plan worth several thousand dollars, along with future routine dental care, but this experience has led me to continue my search for another provider. To be clear, my concern is not with Dr. Golden or the clinical care I received. My disappointment lies solely with the communication, transparency, and customer service surrounding the exam process. As a business owner myself, to miss out on a potential long-term client, all for a $99 communication issue that could have easily been rectified just was not a great first impression.

We're also sorry to hear that the exam process left you feeling disappointed. When your appointment was scheduled, it was booked as a problem-focused limited exam. Our goal with emergency appointments is to get patients in as quickly as possible to evaluate their immediate concern, relieve pain when present, and develop a treatment plan without the delays that can sometimes accompany a comprehensive new patient visit.
Because you were between insurance plans, we also extended our $99 new patient special as a courtesy, which included the necessary X-rays and Dr. Golden's examination.
A comprehensive new patient exam is a separate appointment that requires additional time to thoroughly evaluate your overall oral health, including your teeth, gums, bite, oral cancer screening, and any other conditions that may need attention. Since your appointment was reserved as a limited emergency visit, that additional time was not scheduled.
That said, we understand your perspective. While the appointment you received was consistent with what was scheduled, we recognize that we could have done a better job explaining the differences between a limited emergency exam and a comprehensive exam before your visit. We appreciate that feedback and will use it to improve our communication so patients know exactly what to expect.
Our team takes pride in accommodating dental emergencies as quickly as possible while providing compassionate, high-quality care. We're sorry this misunderstanding left you with a less-than-positive first impression, and we sincerely appreciate you giving us the opportunity to care for you. Fantastic experience: Funny enough, I came across Thrive Dental on TikTok. I had my first appt yesterday and it went great. Dr. Golden was very nice and informative. He actually listened to my concerns and came up with a treatment plan that tackles every issue I spoke about. The clinical/non clinical staff were very sweet and also were able to answer any questions I had regarding billing and appts. Overall, I’m happy with my decision to come here.

I felt very comfortable with both the hygienist and dentist. I was also relieved when I requested the numbing gel for the cleaning and his hygienist said "yes, we can do that for you!" She even offered 2 different types! I have tried 2 other dental facilities before coming to this office. I was NOT impressed. The other practices said no, they don't have numbing gel or no, they don't do that. It's VERY important to shop around so, you can find great dental practices like Thrive Dental with phenomenal staff members from the front desk to the back. -Natoya

Negative experience: Giving this office one star because, honestly, I went here after dealing with another botched dentist, and this experience felt no different. It just seemed like another attempt to get more money. The dentist told me that a tooth the previous dentist worked on looked fine, but then said I needed a root canal. That made no sense. If the work looked fine, why would I need a root canal? The dentistry industry in America feels extremely money driven. It often seems like the focus is on drilling into your teeth and charging thousands of dollars for additional procedures rather than properly addressing the issue. I could not believe Dr. Kevin sat there, looked me in the face, and said the previous dentist did an okay job, yet still suggested that a root canal might fix my tooth sensitivity. I tried to explain that the pain was not even in that tooth, and it did not start hurting until after I left that other dentist’s office. He then mentioned referring me to a specialist. At that point, it just felt like more passing me around instead of actually resolving the issue. To keep this short, my experience with multiple dentists this year has been extremely frustrating. I have seen three different dentists, and it has made me question the consistency and transparency within the dental system. It feels like you can receive okay work but still end up dealing with ongoing issues and additional costs.
We’d like to clarify a few important points for accuracy. You visited our office strictly for a second opinion. We did not perform any treatment, nor were we involved in any of the previous dental work you referenced. Your visit consisted of an exam, X-rays, and a thorough discussion of our findings.
Based on our evaluation, the existing dental work appeared to be within clinical standards. We understand this may not have been the answer you were hoping for, but we can only provide an honest assessment based on what we see diagnostically.
We also explained that even when dental work is done appropriately, it is still possible for a tooth to develop nerve-related symptoms afterward. For that reason, we recommended evaluation by a specialist—not as a way to “pass you along,” but to help you get a more definitive diagnosis and relief. A referral to a specialist does not benefit our office financially in any way; it was made solely in your best interest.
We spent significant time during your visit discussing your concerns, findings, and possible next steps. While we always strive to help every patient, it was clear that our professional opinion and the professional opinions of two other dentist did not align with personal expectations.
We’re genuinely sorry that you’re experiencing discomfort and understand how frustrating that can be. However, since we were not involved in the original treatment and did not recommend or perform treatment in our office, this concern is not a result of care provided here.
We do hope you’re able to find the answers and relief you’re looking for, whether through a dental specialist or another kind of healthcare provider.

He explained everything thoroughly and made sure all of my questions were answered. He and his assistant (Jessica) made sure I was comfortable throughout my entire appointment. Fantastic experience: I am deathly afraid of dentists for which my dental health has suffered. Dentists have always been trial and error for me. I have found the one I can continue to come back to and am grateful for. By the end of my journey, my dentist had me more comfortable than I’ve ever been and I wasn’t even feeling his numbing needle. He is excellent! The only negative I can say is just train the dental techs a little more but it still wasn’t bad with them either…. I guess it all comes with learning.

Fantastic experience: UPDATE - I had to get dental crowns and it was the smoothest best dental procedure I have had done. Ive sent friends and family to this practice. They will be real with you, but never shame you and they give you the best care. I still love it. Absolutely loved the facility! Wonderful front the start. The lady at the front desk was super sweet, kind, and welcoming! Felt like everything I was missing when I moved to the area. Dr. Golden was amazing and thorough! I just went in to check on a concern of mine and he immediately gave me a course of action to remedy some issues going on. Fantastic experience: I had a broken tooth and was in severe pain when I called, and Natalie was able to get me seen within 48 hours, and not just for the consultation and x-rays! Most places now try to drag it out and create a whole year’s long plan. Dr. Golden’s biggest concern was getting me out of pain. In fact, he said that he was going to take care of the most urgent problem and get me out of pain, and that we could look at a plan during the next visit. He saw me at 10am for my initial consultation and by 1:30pm, my extraction and bone graft was done! He and Sara, his assistant, made a wonderful team with my comfort being their ultimate goal during the procedure. Natalie was also very helpful in getting me set up with a payment plan that I could afford, since I don’t have insurance. Overall, I was pleased with the entire experience and will continue seeing Dr Golden.

Next, it is Lisa and Cherry Finance with intelligent payment options to get the services that I needed without losing more teeth over time. The condition of my teeth and gums made my care level urgent. My total health was at stake. The Golden's at Thrive Dental helped me to address the barriers of excellent medical care and access, which was finances. Often times insurance benefits are not sufficient to get the "real time care" that you need. In addition, They are skilled in surgery, and Dr. Golden's bed side manner is even better than his gifted surgical hands. With every step, Thrive Dental was completely transparent to me. They were able to anticipate and address my concerns. More importantly, the managed my expectations. I highly recommend this practice. If you are new to Charlotte like I was, and needed a doctor to treat you like family, then Thrive is the place. Fantastic experience: This was my first visit today with Dr. Golden and his staff, and I must say everyone was wonderful, friendly, and professional! The wait time was quick, I arrived early for my appointment, and they got me right in. Dr. Jones was so kind and very thorough in explaining everything that was going on with my teeth and gums, along with his recommendations to help get them back healthy. I truly appreciate the care and attention he gave during my visit. Fantastic experience: This was an Awesome experience in an emergent situation. First I prayed asking The Lord who is going to be able to see me tomorrow? I know God led me to Thrive Dental and even confirmed when I contemplated changing my appointment to another Dentist closer to me. I chose to obey and now I know why. Unexpectedly I was able to schedule an appointment for the next day, they were in my network; the person who answered the phone was very patient and kind to make me feel comfortable throughout the process. Dr Golden and his team were intentional in their efforts to make me feel comfortable and take care of my problem at that moment. The work was done professionally and timely. Just as Dr Golden promised, I was able to eat my regular food for dinner. It’s one thing to give good service; it’s another to thing to be the recipient of exceptional service. Thankful for your kindness all of you at Thrive Dental in Concord, NC.

Fantastic experience: Went for my first dentist appointment in 12 years. I have a history of anxiety and the environment here is very relaxing. All of the staff were very kind and understanding and explained everything they were doing making sure that I was able to ask my questions along the way. They were even able to squeeze in a cleaning for me. All of my future appointments were able to be scheduled before I left so I don’t have to remember to make them later. Very happy I found this office!
