Fantastic experience: Appt today for x-rays and dental cleaning. As usual the receptionist acknowledged me and the wait to be seen was prompt. I used to dread dental appts, but no longer. From the dental hygienist to Dr. Emma, my experience was as pleasant as it could be. Would recommend this clinic to a person looking for dental care.

Negative experience: The interactions with the actual dentist are always pleasant but unfortunately can't say the same for the hygienist. Lowering the chair without notice, hovering tools over your face without asking you to open your mouth, not explaining what they are doing or why... Dead silence. Honestly felt like she was annoyed with me or something which is pretty bizarre because she'd hardly spoken to me. Literally no "chair-side manner". I do like the convenience of the location but I am considering going to a different practice.

Fantastic experience: I went here a week to the day of my review and had a great experience. Had an infected tooth that was causing me an extreme amount of pain and needed to come out. Dr. Tyler got me some antibiotics, and tooth out on the 14th! After a week I have had little to no pain at the extraction site, was able to get right back to work, and the surgical removal of the tooth went very smoothly and didn’t feel a thing. Thank you Dr. Tyler, and thank you Des Moines River Dental Care!

Fantastic experience: I have been a satisfied patient of Dr. Villiard for number of years. I lost a crown between Christmas and the new year. Dr. Villiard was courteous enough to call me after hours to direct my treatment until I could return to his office. He got me in, days after my return to Iowa, and reset the crown in short time and minimal cost.

Fantastic experience: We have been looking for a dentist that takes Humana insurance, before that we had UHC. Finally towards the end of 2025 we found one. They are a husband and wife team. They really show that they care for there patients. I need to have the rest of my teeth pulled and dentures made for both my lower and upper month. They answered all my questions and explained everything. This is our third visit and we are extremely happy with the carethey have provided. I will keep track of my plan as it continues. If anything changes I will update as my visits and review if necessary. So if you Don't see any additional comments you will know they are just as good as I reviewed here. If your looking for a dentist I highly Recommend Des Moines river dental care!

Since making the switch to Des Moines River Dental Care, I’ve been impressed by their entire staff and the care they provide.

Fantastic experience: I really like River Dental. Dr Tyler is very nice and Dr. Emma is great. I love having the option between the 2. I like going on Thursdays when Dr. Emma is there and her front desk staff is great!! There has never been a time when they couldn't get me in for a toothache or a filling that fell out. They are pretty wonderful.

Positive experience: Dr. Villard is a good dentist. The reason I’m giving a 3 star is due to the dental hygienist. She was very rough and when I told her I couldn’t open up my mouth all the way, I told her it was due to my brain surgery, she told me too again. I told the front desk I was upset

Fantastic experience: The hygienists are very nice and done good job, but it takes 3 months before I can get my deep clean because their schedule too full. Edit after get response from owner: I got 2 cleaning scheduled in February thanks, but my billing get mess up. My dental insurance cover 90% for deep clean (procedure code D4341 and D4342) but I have to paid $305 for my first deep clean appointment. Can you take a look please. (Edit) Thanks for finding the issue and submitting to the correct Delta Dental insurance provider, didn't know there were many Delta Dental insurance either, and thank you for the refund.

From my very first phone call, the receptionist was incredibly kind and helpful. Dr. Tyler took the time to listen carefully and explain everything clearly during my appointment, which they were kind enough to fit me in for. It was clear they genuinely care about their patients and take the time to make you feel informed and at ease. By the end of the visit, I knew I wanted to move our entire family to their practice. A few days later, a handwritten note showed up in the mail welcoming our family, and it honestly caught me off guard in the best way. Such a thoughtful gesture!

Fantastic experience: Excellent small town charm office without seeming to skimp on anything for being in a small town. My family has been going here for about 5 years now and everyone in my family likes the office. My 10 year old likes to pick a treat at the end and watch TV during her appointment. My husband appreciates that they aren't pushy or painful- they aren't mean about him wanting to visit as infrequently as he can. I have liked every staff member since they are all so nice and knowledgeable! I think even at age (almost) 40, I end up learning something new every visit! This happens to be the first dental practice I have visited that has ceiling TVs, too, which is kind of nice if you want a distraction. I feel like the hygienist can read you well to determine if you are a chatty person (like me!) or prefer complete silence (my husband!). Going in for my routine cleanings and xrays I never leave with sore teeth, either, which I have done a lot with previous dentists. Also, although not available on weekends or Fridays, I feel like they do a good job at working around everyone's schedule (like 7am appointments and possibly open later one day?). You should treat yourself to a friendly and capable dentist team and give them a try! But let's keep it our secret so they don't ever need to change a thing because of the newly inundated schedule!

Fantastic experience: I took my 8 year old their this week on tuesday for a reguler check up they cleaned hid teeth and he had 2 cavatits .They gave me a choice of ways to fix them,I said lets do fillings and fix them thats the best option I couldnt believe it but they was able to get charlie back in 2 days later and put in the fillings. The dentist was so kind and caring she let me stay in the room while they worked on his teeth.She explained every step of the process to us. I was extremly pleased with this place. I would highly recomend them to anyone with children,or for theirselfs if they need a family dentist,it will be where are family will get all of are dental needs taken care of since they did such a wonderful job.My wife already has appointments made to get her teeth worked on

Fantastic experience: We live in West Des Moines and came in today for a second opinion on some work that my husband needs to have done. The staff is unbelievable and so helpful. No only did we get our second opinion but I think we found our new dentist. Definitely worth the drive for us.
