If you’re interested in having something done or fixed, they will walk you through the options and tell you what they think is best. It is usually the more conservative approach, which I appreciate.

Fantastic experience: I have been seeing Dr. Murphy for over 10 years. Her and Gina the hygienist are so nice and caring.

Fantastic experience: I am somewhat new to Milwaukee and had not yet found a dentist. It was a Sunday afternoon and I was in severe distress from an infected nerve root with my throbbing pain becoming more excruciating by the hour. The only time that I’d ever previously experienced this level of unrelenting, escalating pain was when I had a kidney stone. A dear friend gave me Dr. Murphy’s name and out of desperation I called the number that the office answering machine gives out for established patients to call “in the event of an emergency.” Leaving my story on the machine, I was shocked when I heard back from an associate of Dr. Murphy’s named Mindy. Although I was NOT an established patient and she had no idea who I was, she was patient, kind, compassionate and helped me devise a plan on how to bring the pain under better control for the evening. Moreover, she offered to meet me at the office she offered to meet me at the office the following morning BEFORE OFFICE HOURS EVEN STARTED. Mindy evaluated me, followed by Dr. Murphy and they referred me to an Endodontics group that fit me in for an urgent root canal procedure that afternoon. If one understands the severity of this type of tooth pain, then one will understand the profound gratitude that I will always have for the compassionate, stream-lined, class act, wonderful care that I received from people that didn’t even know me. A huge thank you to Dr. Murphy, Mindy and their entire team of true professionals In addition to being fitted for Invisalign, I now go to Dr.Murphy and her team for routine checkups. I was there today for a cleaning/checkup and, as usual, everyone is so pleasant, genuinely interested and helpful. Based on my care, their teamwork and communication, it is clear what a well run outfit they run. Grateful to be a patient

Dr Murphy’s staff is absolutely amazing with children and I was able to get my teeth cleaned while staff helped clean and care for my children. My kids love going to see staff and Dr Murphy! I didn’t think I’d be able to find a new office that I’d like so easily. Very staff member that I had contact with was incredibly friendly and understanding. The hygienist (Gina) couldn’t have been any nicer and more patient. Dr. Murphy took time with me to explain a couple issues I have and was great at informing me about my options. Fantastic experience: This was the first time I was in the office for anything more than a clearning, so when I needed a tooth fixed/filled, I wasn't sure what to expect . No reason to worry. Dr. Murphy explained every step she took. She and her assistant made sure I was comfortable throughout the procedure, and Dr Murphy was incredibly quick and really good. I can't even tell which tooth she worked on :)

Negative experience: I recommended this dentist after going there only a couple of times for cleanings but no dental work. I would never recommend her again based on the treatment she gave to the person I referred to her, also some of her treatment decisions were questioned by several other dentists. Patients beware and get second opinions before allowing her to do dental work. Also when a dentist wants to drop you as a patient because you want a 2nd opinion, that is a red flag warning that you shouldn't go back. Walk away from that dentist immediately and consider yourself fortunate for finding them out before it was too late, A dentist who thinks their work or opinions shouldn't be questioned is someone you don't want to continue to do business with, because remember you're more than a patient, you're a customer who has hired a dentist to do their job to your satisfaction.

She is very thorough, patient, meticulous, knowledgeable, helpful, she has an energetic and kind demeanor. The dental hygienists and other staff (I speak mostly to Shannon at the front desk who has been there for years!). I honestly cannot give enough praise as they all deserve. It’s obvious every one in the office is really happy to work for her. If you’re looking for a new dentist, stop looking, she’s the BEST!!!

Negative experience: Don’t let her mellow, upbeat presentation misguide you. My experience with Dr. Stephanie Murphy raises serious red flags about her dental practice and patient care. I visited for a lost filling (lower right second molar). A crown was recommended by her. I developed excruciating pains throughout my entire upper/lower jaw, gums, teeth, and upper neck directly after her temporary crown procedure. This lasted nearly 2 months, right up until another dentist addressed the pain by removing her temp crown and putting on his own. At my follow-up (originally for the permanent crown), Dr. Murphy spent barely a minute looking in my mouth before confidently declaring how a root canal was a must, based on "90% of her cases,” not any imaging or patient-centered examination. When I emphasized that I had absolutely no pain whatsoever before her temporary crown procedure, she only gave me pitying looks, said teeth wear over time, insisted on no other alternative other than root canal, and suggested a "second opinion" – from her referred endodontist she would have perform it, and then Murphy to place the permanent. With my reservations with moving forward, she sarcastically said we’ll wait it out a week to see if it is a "magical tooth" that doesn’t need a root canal to rid of the pain. Alarmingly, she even warned that without a root canal, an abscess would inevitably lead to tooth extraction. My insurance denied coverage for her crown procedure, stating no serious signs of decay or damage observed on their end. When I brought this up to her, Dr. Murphy said her office is used to insurance denials and threatening insurance companies. Other dental offices I contacted afterwards disputed her certainty of a root canal based on my symptoms, stating even slight misalignment of temp crowns can cause the pain I experienced. Her abscess/tooth extraction comments were sharply rejected by other dental offices I called up. Even Dr. Murphy’s own assistant seemed confused about her abscess/extraction warning. I opted no further treatment from her past that temp crown, got my refund, set up with another dentist who removed her temp crown and placed his own. Within only a week of his temp crown placement, my pain is largely nonexistent, and I can even eat pain-free on that side again–no root canal needed. Near 2 months of torture and agonizing pain because of Dr. Murphy’s rushed pressuring towards a costly invasive procedure. I now see an incredibly reliable dentist. Guess I have a magic tooth after all, Dr. Murphy. Patients beware!!!
