Draper Smiles - Dr. Fernando Pessoa: World-Class Dentistry

Fantastic experience: I requested an appointment online. They immediately scheduled me for two days later. They confirmed via text, call, and email - through which I was able to fill out forms in advance. I arrived a few minutes early, and I was called back at exactly the time of my appointment. The assistant was competent and efficient in doing the X-rays. As soon as she finished, Dr. Krommenkoek came in. He was more thorough in his exam and explanation than any other dentist I’ve had…. And I’m no youngster. He gave me several options for treatment, depending on my immediate and long term needs. He took his time with me. He was interested in preserving the health of my teeth, rather than suggesting treatments that would bring money into the business. Seriously, if you’re looking for a new dentist, I would highly recommend going to Draper Smiles. I definitely give them 5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fantastic experience: I've been going to Dr. Pessoa for 10 years now. Hands down he is the best dentist in the SL valley. I had played roulette with many other dentists and wasn't happy with any of them. My friend's daughter was a dental lab courier at the time and I asked her who she would suggest. She referred me to Dr. Pessoa. I was thrilled with how meticulous he is, how he listens and communicates with you on your concerns, and his kind and thoughtful nature of your case. His practice also has the latest dental technology. I had a complicated jaw surgery recently and I went to one of the top jaw surgeons in the country. As part of my recovery, Dr. Pessoa had to provide the surgeon with a treatment plan for my bite adjustment. In addition, I wanted to upgrade my veneers. My jaw surgeon was highly impressed with Dr. Pessoa. He told me to stick with him forever. Not only am I pleased with Dr. Pessoa, but I was able to witness a colleague on the east coast who didn't know him, offer his praises based on their clinical interactions with my care. You won't be disappointed with Dr. Pessoa. He is truly the best!

I found Dr. Pessoa after a less-than-ideal experience with another cosmetic dentist that left me more unhappy with my teeth than before I had any work done. My smile looked very unnatural, and I had completely lost confidence in it. Dr. Pessoa was able to remove the previous work and create a smile that feels like the best version of my natural smile. A testament to how happy I am with the result is that: (1) I didn’t cry when my new smile was revealed like I did after the prior work, (2) I actually smile in pictures now, and (3) I no longer obsess over or nitpick my teeth every time I look in the mirror. I am genuinely so happy with my smile. On top of that, I accidentally chipped one of my veneers and was absolutely devastated. Fantastic experience: I truly couldn’t recommend Dr. Pessoa and his whole team more. They have given me the best experience in all aspects. This review is also long over due. I started looking into implants for my two missing lateral teeth 4 years ago. I went to so many different consultations and just was not impressed with their technology, bedside manner, and options they laid out. When I met with Dr. Pessoa for my consultation I felt relief. I finally found someone that not only checked all my boxes but went above and beyond. He listens to you and educates you. After my consultation, before I left, I scheduled my appointment and put money down to start my implant process. My case was not easy and him and his team did amazing. Now later down the road I haven’t been great on keeping up with the important cleaning process and needed to be seen more recently for inflamed gums. I was super worried about infection and they got me in immediately to be seen. I have been able to text them and get quick responses as well. They truly care about their clients. I have recommended and had several friends and family go to him. All of whom are also very happy with their experience and results. Not to mention we all live in Davis county. So, a 45 minute drive to get your teeth cleaned isn’t always ideal, but after being to other places they are worth the drive. Thanks Dr. Pessoa and your team!

Fantastic experience: I have truly had a world class experience at Draper smiles. I tell everyone about the dental hygienist Nelly and how much I loved my cleaning and my time with her. She was respectful and so great about educating without shaming. I met with Dr. Pessoa to discuss cosmetic concerns and felt immediately at ease. He gave me several options and I started with invisalign first.I am almost done with my invisalign and am so thrilled with the results so far. Before starting invisalign I had Dr. Knommenhoek redo previous filling that were done poorly and had the most pain free experience ever! I have been impressed by the entire staff and experience top to bottom. Compared to previous providers, they have more innovative equipment and techniques that make your experience so much more enjoyable. I couldn't recommend them enough for all my dental needs!

They took several types of X-rays, including 3D, and everything was quick and comfortable. The assistant spoke Spanish and was very kind helping us with translation. The doctor was professional and explained everything clearly. They also offer financing options, which makes payments much easier. Overall, an excellent experience — I highly recommend them!

Fantastic experience: I was pleasantly surprised at how well my cleaning and exam went. Nelly was great! Negative experience: I was told I could schedule a virtual consult for $25. Then they preferred I come in - in-person. Never notified me that they would be billing my insurance and charging me a large fee, for a consult. They didn't even do any work. The dr. was really amazing but I do feel like they weren't honest or upfront about what they charge.

This is a kind of dentistry that uses materials that behave more like a tooth itself. They also try to preserve as much of the tooth as possible. I’ve only been with the clinic for a year, but so far I am very happy. It’s a long drive for me but feels worth it for the quality of care I receive. Shoot-out in particular to Nellie, one of the hygienists, who used her extra training and knowledge to educate me about signs of physical health risks that she could see in my mouth.

Fantastic experience: I've worked with some of the very top cosmetic dentists in Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, etc.. and Dr. Pessoa is an LA caliber practitioner nestled within the Utah Mountains. When it was time to get my teeth done, I was thinking of flying back to LA to get my veneers, but I am so glad that I found this place. Dr. Pessoa is a TOP QUALITY artisan. Fantastic experience: 5 years ago I had veneers done by Dr Pessoa and he did absolutely beautiful work. Such an artist, very meticulous. He is very frinedly, and overall a great guy. Recently, I was having severe tooth pain (unrelated to veneers). I called the office and they got me in the same day. This time it was with Dr Dallas. I was blown away by how kind he was. He is very knowledgeable and immediately diagnosed the problem. You can’t go wrong with either of them. Dr Pessoa and Dr Dallas are both top notch. 10/10 recommend.

Fantastic experience: This the best dentist I’ve ever had. Absolutely excellent service! I’ve been a bit apprehensive and tense in general with dentists in the past and this dentist made me feel comfortable and in good hands. They also worked on my son’s front teeth and did both of course wisdom teeth removals. I can’t say enough about how great they have been to us.

Negative experience: I’ve had multiple disappointing experiences with Draper Smiles lately. They consistently overbill for services, and there’s rarely any transparency about costs upfront. Every visit they are running behind schedule and it feels like a surprise when the bill arrives months later. On top of that, the front desk staff lacks professionalism and basic customer service skills when interacting with you through text —they’re often dismissive and unhelpful when addressing billing questions. Dental care should involve trust and clarity, but unfortunately, Draper Smiles falls short on both. Dr. Pessoa is great however his staff is really lacking. I can’t recommend this practice.

They remember who I am when I come in, they take great effort to make sure you're not anxious and that you're as comfortable as possible, and the precision and technique is incredible. Positive experience: I've been going to Draper Smiles for years and always been happy. Today, unfortunately, was not quite to the usual high standard as I had to wait longer than normal; apparently, they had had a few clients come in 15-20 minutes late, and, rather than requiring them to reschedule, they fit them in. I was already unhappy about losing a late-afternoon appointment I had set up six months previously because a conflict came up for the doctor in the interim, and then they were unable to give me a later appointment (despite my not being specific about the day) to minimize disruption to my work which can be time-sensitive, so to have the appointment go notably longer than usual was particularly unwelcome, and the type of thing that, if it happens at my next appointment, would cause me to think very seriously about changing dentists despite otherwise being happy there. Incidentally, I would not have left a review today except that I received a text after the fact asking me to do so!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been seeing Dr. Pessoa for 11 years. Beyond taking care of my teeth, he recently helped me straighten, brighten, and beautify them. His office is clean loaded with the latest technology. His staff is always great too. I can’t recommend Draper Smiles enough.

Fantastic experience: This place is soo good! Clean and comfortable office with kind personnel. The equipment is state of the art and I really felt like I was in good hands throughout my dental work. After I had no pain and My teeth feel better than ever. The only thing I would say is that the cleaning wasn’t done with any type of minty like toothpaste so I didn’t feel as clean as I have in other offices when I left. But I guess they use a blaster instead so they must have gotten cleaned.

Fantastic experience: Was in a boating accident and my teeth were a mess so we called doctor Pessoa and he got me in same day for surgery. Accident happened on a Sunday and Pessoa left the lake early to come work on my teeth! I couldn’t believe how my teeth looked after surgery. You couldn’t tell I was in an accident after he worked on me. Him and his team are amazing. I left that night all fixed up. He earned my business for life he’s the GOAT!!

Fantastic experience: Best dental clinic ever! Both doctors, Dr. Pessoa and Dr. Krommenhoek, are true professionals and masters of their skill. Cosmetic dental work they perform is like beautiful jewelry artwork. Everyone in the office is really nice, knowledgeable and wonderful to interact with. The facility is very clean and cozy. I love everything about this place, people, and the exceptional services they provide.

Fantastic experience: 10/10 would recommend! 2 yrs ago Dr Pessoa fixed my smile. I didn’t even know it was possible to reshape my gums, which he did with my composite bonding. Fantastic experience: There aren't enough stars to give Dr. Pessoa and his team at Draper Smiles. I have been self conscious of my smile since I was a kid. I have had A LOT of dental work and have seen many dentists along my journey. My case was not an easy one, and Dr. Pessoa welcomed me with open arms and a big smile :) His knowledge, dedication and meticulous eye is unlike anyone I've ever worked with before. And let's not forget that he goes out of his way to check in and ask about your life after working on you for two hours because he genuinely cares about you. I had a tooth that had moved and it was bothering me (for years!) and how it made my smile look. I was worried I was going to need braces for months and months. Fantastic experience: Dr. Pessoa is truly an artist with cosmetic dentistry. My teeth were very misaligned to begin, but because of the technique he uses (micro-osteo-perforation) — and because I followed the rules of wearing the appliances — my entire Invisalign treatment lasted only 9 months and resulted in perfect alignment. Unbelievable! I then had him bond my teeth and that's where his artistry really shines. He was meticulous and refused to accept any results that didn't meet his own high expectations. My tooth coloring was really dark and uneven but now my teeth are bright white and look completely natural. Spacing and tooth length are much better than I ever dreamed possible. And he adjusted my bite to perfection. I spoke with two other well regarded cosmetic dentists before choosing Dr. Pessoa and he turned out to be absolutely the perfect choice. The entire process surpassed what I thought possible and took only a year or so. I love to smile now and couldn't be happier.

Fantastic experience: I can almost guarantee that Dr. Pessoa will be the best dentist you have ever gone to. I was going to a previous dentist that did work on my teeth for over 3 years. I had OVER 10 teeth chip so I decided I had to go somewhere else (I was doing trade work which is why I stayed so long). My sister and best friend both have had work done by Dr. Pessoa and have talked so highly of him. I feared going to the dentist because my teeth are so sensitive so drills, water, or air makes me teeth 'zing'. On my 2nd appointment of Bonding, I didn't have to do any numbing because he is that good with drills that I wasn't worried about it being sensitive (the appt was 3 hrs long). Dr. Pessoa makes you feel heard, you feel safe, and he is genuinely a kind person. He doesn't make you feel like he is just trying to take your money. His work is top tier and worth every penny. The technology at the office is updated and you feel like you are in a luxury office. The staff is great as well! I got bonding in January and to this day I still in awe at my teeth. I love them and they look NATURAL! I feel like you can tell when someone has fake teeth but I went around some of my friends that didn't know I got bonding done and after I told them I got my teeth done they were in shock because they look so natural and fit my face. I will forever be grateful to Dr. Pessoa and his team. I would highly recommend Dr. Pessoa!
