Fantastic experience: My son ‘s had an amazing first dental experience! From the moment we walked in, the front office staff was welcoming, friendly, and made us feel comfortable. The dental assistants were patient, kind, and helped put my son at ease throughout the visit. A special thank you to Dr. Rooklidge for making his first appointment such a positive experience, and to Dr. Ward for the excellent follow-up treatment and care. Both doctors were professional, compassionate, and took the time to explain everything clearly. We truly appreciate the outstanding care we received from everyone in the office. Fantastic experience: After an in-school dental visit with Big Smiles Utah, it was recommended that I seek urgent emergency treatment for my granddaughter who was recently placed in my care. And since I had already been looking for a pediatric dentist specialized in treating kids with trauma based fear, I reached out to the first pediatric dentist on BSU's referral list after 'all went south in her mouth' just 2 days later. Dentistry for Children in Sandy took my call late in the day, got us in at 8am the next morning. It's not one of the big name, fancy practices with the pricey 'eye-candy for kids' decor, but it is very kid friendly. And the minute we walked thru the door, the lady I'd spoken to the night before immediately addressed my granddaughter by name and began taking to HER, giving her the role of the big person - and I was secondary. I watched in awe as the terror my granddaughter had been feeling that morning just, disappeared. And by the end of the visit, she didn't want to leave! I was so relieved that it was 100 percent positive for her. She is still telling everybody she can about her new friends that she found and the TV on their 'roof', the headphones and the sunglasses, and the treasure coin she got at the end of the visit! Brilliant approach! Excellent staff and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming with a much appreciated calming effect.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Rooklidge and his staff are exceptionally patient and skilled when working with reticent children, as well as those that are willing to have their teeth cleaned. I have only heard kindness and understanding as we all worked to get my youngest to participate, and today, at age 3.5, he sat for x-rays and let the Dr look at his teeth! This is a huge advancement so we probably will be coming here his whole life. I highly recommend. Update 5 years later: still an amazing, caring office staff. All three of my children had their cleanings completed in 35 minutes!!! I appreciate that efficiency so much. And the kindness throughout is amazing. I just wish all dentists were this efficient.

Both of the dentists here are amazing and I trust them 1000% with my kids, and anything dental related, they need done!(: my youngest is my wild child and quite the screamer (2 y.o.) the patience they have with her is incredible. 10/10 definitely recommend! If you’re reading this looking for a dentist to take your child to, definitely do bring them here! You will not be disappointed.

Negative experience: Called the dentist to get my daughter in after an accident. I don’t have dental insurance so when I took her in they told me the exam and x-ray would be free and then I would be charged for treatment if they did any but that they would let me know how much it would be before they did it. The dentist came is and was very nice and professional. She looked in my daughter’s mouth, grabbed a piece of gauze and pulled the toothed the rest of the way out that was already coming out. They didn’t ask me before or tell me how much it would be. I was then charged $126 that they made me pay before leaving. For one tooth extraction when the tooth was already coming out. If I had known that’s what it would cost I would have taken her home and pulled it out myself or let it fall out on its own. I explained to them over the phone in the beginning that I didn’t have insurance or the money to pay slot out of pocket as this was a sudden thing.

My daughter had been referred here the day after Christmas with an infected tooth, they got her in, on antibiotics and scheduled the needed procedures for the week following finishing antibiotics. What could have been a terrifying experience (and had been at a previous "pediatric" dentist in Heber) was smooth and easy sailing. Negative experience: Negative stars if possible. Incredibly rude and Incredibly unprofessional. Staff doesn't know their patients nor do they even care. Doctors change they schedule on a whim. Choose somewhere else, you're life will be easier.

The Doctors are always up front and honest and make the kids feel comfortable. I have referred many friends and family to here and their children also look forward to their visits!

Fantastic experience: By far the best dentist experience I have ever had with my kids. They were patient, genuine and kind. I walked out so impressed and happy not stressed and anxious. Generally my daughter’s anxiety is difficult and the staff tends to treat me rudely because she is a handful but here they just smiled and said it will get better once she gets to know us!

My son is special needs and is very timid and doesn’t listen well when prompted to do normal things the dentist requests but the dental assistants and Dr’s at Dentistry for children have always been so patient and kind to him. He gets more willing to let them do the work each time we go and I’m grateful they are so professional and kind. We were worried my son also had a tongue tie that was missed and Dr. Rooklidge took his time to check him out even though my son made it difficult. Thank you so much for taking such good care of us!

Fantastic experience: One of the best children's dentistry experiences we've ever had! The care from each individual (from the front desk to the dental assistants to the dentist and back to the front desk) was amazing, and all of my children want to go back :) NOTE: We live in Iowa full-time, and travel to Utah a few times per year for family and work. This was our first apt with this dentist (based on a local referral), and we'll be scheduling our trips and dental apts to coincide from now on so we can continue care here. INFORMED DECISIONS- The front desk greeted us kindly, and made sure we knew the costs before going back (two children with insurance and one without insurance). They ASKED rather than assumed what we wanted to do when considering costs and allowed to decide for our family (and our budget). CATERED TO EACH CHILD- The dental assistants were so good with each of my children (11, 7, 3)- spoken to and explained to in age appropriate language and tone, treated respectfully, interacted with using age appropriate language and ton (more mature for my older 2, simpler and more "silly" for my youngest). There were many options catered to helping children be comfortable and have an enjoyable experience - fun and colorful walls, movies at each chair, fun flavors to choose from (currently fruit, cupcake, and mint). Each of my children had their own unique experience with a trend of happy and clean teeth. NEW EXPERIENCE- They were absolutely great with my youngest, even when she was difficult (didn't want to open her mouth or show her teeth, they spent time letting her see & feel the tools, they played with her letting her tickle her fingers and her own teeth with the brush and water, they let her wear the cool sunglasses.) Thanks to their kindness and patience, not only did she get her first cleaning ever (even though this is the third time she's been in a dentists chair), but she had a fun experience (rather than a traumitizing one). REASONABLE COST- We ended up paying for one child's full exam completely out of pocket because of an issue on our end with our insurance. Even with this, the cost was completely reasonable- not so low that I questioned the care or products being used, and not so high that I would have to change our finances for the rest of the month to make up for it. (Our two children who had insurance ended up being covered 100%, so no out of pocket cost.) With or without insurance we will be able to keep up on regular apts for all 3 children because the costs are so reasonable. OVERALL- We highly recommend this dental office, all the way around. When the kids are happy then the parents are happy, and when the parents are happy then the kids are happy. This office makes us all happy.

Fantastic experience: Our family has gone to Dentistry for Children for over a decade. They are very good about scheduling and reminders. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. After having a cleaning, my kids get a small toy, and new tooth brushes, which they like. There’s also movies, video games and a small play area while you wait. My 5 yr old was freaking out right before going in, but the staff was so nice, he calmed right down and even enjoyed his cleaning.

Positive experience: I like them there alot. I really like how they call me when it is time to get my daughter in. I get busy and would not remember for alot longer than she should e seen. The only thing I don't like is When I am in the waiting room, I feel like the girls at the front desk are talking about people in the waiting room. I have heard them saying things about a kid and it wasn't nice. Thank God it wasn't mine. It just makes you think if they talk about one they talk about all.

Negative experience: Went here back in February for my son having a tooth ache. We got a free exam and got antibiotics and talked about what work he would need in the future but not having insurance at the time I said we would wait and my son was fine but Fast forward to now september my sons tooth started hurting again but insurance wouldn't be in affect till october 1st and when making a appointment they said it was fine and would talk to us about treatment options and payment plans. I go into the appointment no hello not a how may I help you. I tell them my sons name and they instantly said well you need to pay $80 to be seen today no explanation as to why or what for. I'm on a fixed income due to the pandemic and couldn't pay it they said well then you need to reschedule when you can, but my son has been in terrible pain and they said sorry we can't see you till this amount is paid. So I canceled the appointment and went somewhere else. They got me right in and did the procedure all while being so nice and accommodating. They talked about payment plans and gave me a discount. They saw how desperate I was and how much my son needed help. Especially since dentistry for children was so unfriendly and made me feel helpless. Not saying everyone will get this treatment but if your a struggling mom with a child emergency do not go here!

Fantastic experience: Our visits are always challenging because of my son's developmental disabilities (DS, ASD), but somehow Dr. Callen and her staff make everything so much easier and continue to try new approaches to improve our experiences.
