Negative experience: Beware deceptive billing practices. I've experienced consistent over-billing but have generally not fought it, but I've now found a new dentist after my latest experience. I asked for a price for Invisalign, and didn't need much correction because I've had it before. Staff told me they would bill me for worst case scenario and once they had the treatment scenario from Invisalign refund me the difference, and discount me if I paid upfront. TL;DR: they received 2k more than my insurer claims is valid and after repeated requests for an itemized bill and total cost they refuse to provide it. They then tried to get out of the required follow up visits for what they quoted as "comprehensive Invisalign" by giving me literally all of the aligners and telling me to call them if I have any issues. I could have bought third party aligners online for a fraction of the cost with better service. Clearly their MO is to request worst case, get the most out of the insurer, and keep the rest as extra profit. NEVER PAY THEM IN ADVANCE. I will be reporting them to BBB and all other local oversight, since dentists have less regulation than auto mechanics, but please GO ELSEWHERE!

What I like most is that they listen to you and give you honest, direct feedback - as if they were in your shoes and needed the same advice. I’ve had serious procedures too... not just cleanings. They take their jobs seriously and my smile is the end result, even if I have areas to improve my daily cleaning routines at home.

Negative experience: My temporary crown fell out, and I immediately called the office, but nobody answered. I ended up going to the office in person. The front desk lady told me, “You should have called,” instead of saying “sorry” or asking what happened. I arrived at the office at 2 PM on Thursday, and she told me they couldn’t fit me in because they were closing at 3 PM, even though Google says they close at 4 PM. She wanted me to schedule an appointment for Monday. She didn’t seem to care that I could get an infection by then. I ended up going to a different dentist in the same building, and they were very welcoming and helped put my temporary crown back in. It only took about two minutes for them to fix it. This place has horrible patient care.

She has been our dentist for many years and we can always trust her to give it to us straight and not try to push unnecessary procedures and treatments. She is truly nice and caring. The staff are super friendly and responsive too. The location (near Sprouts in Eastlake) is great with plenty of parking.

Fantastic experience: I'm a 71-year-old foreign-born retired federal employee and retired US Navy reservist. One can disregard my dental hygiene and care before coming to this country. Basically zero, My eleven years of active duty was my first exposure to the health and care of my teeth. Not until I was under the supervision of Alexis. She was responsible for correcting what I had been doing wrong in taking care of and thus improving the health of my teeth and gums. It is not only brushing and using mouthwash but also how and when to do it and what to use. Thank you, Alexis, for your concern for your patients and your professionalism in doing your job.

They are kind and understanding, had a deep cleaning and there was zero pain or discomfort during of after. Fantastic experience: I went to this office for a dental emergency, and on top of that, I have horrible dental anxiety. I hadn’t been to a dentist in years because of my fear, so I was extremely nervous walking in. From the very beginning, the entire team was kind, patient, and completely non-judgmental. Alexis was amazing while taking my X-rays — she was so gentle, talked me through everything, and really helped calm my fears. She made what could have been an overwhelming experience feel manageable from the start. The doctor and the rest of the staff were just as understanding and kind. They took the time to explain everything clearly and gave me multiple options for treatment, including sedation because of my anxiety. That meant so much to me, and made me feel validated with the fears I was experiencing for the treatment process. For the first time in a long time, I felt truly cared for, understood, and respected at a dental office. I’m so grateful to have found them, especially during an emergency. I’m an I’m a new patient and I had an emergency situation I cracked a tooth Everybody was sweet and kind very different atmosphere. I felt comfortable there I felt welcomed the dentist himself. He explained everything going on, and very soft, gentle voice. It wasn’t where you have somebody come blasting into a room and saying open your mouth and let me see what’s going on. Negative experience: Not worth the hassle. Dr Jones is amazing but her front staff is horrendous. No respect. They have a 24 hour cancellation fee but if their dental hygienist isn’t in, then they waste your time. I was literally hung up on, put on hold without even asking and refused to give me access to my medical records until I reminded them what my patient rights were. There are other better dentist in the area.

Fantastic experience: Had my first appointment here today after years of not going to the dentist so definitely super nervous going in but my dental hygienist Monica made me feel very comfortable and safe and explained everything from what she examined to what she was cleaning and recommending. The doctor helped me understand what I needed and how they were going to help me since the first step is to actually show up . Negative experience: Procedure by Specialist Dr Patel went well. Unfortunately, the dental office does not support Military Veterans in issuing prescription and improperly issues narcotic prescriptions without correct authority. I was unable to fill the Tylenol 3 prescription (with codeine because the office doesn’t gave “script Pad” to legally issue this narcotic. The end result my spouse is suffering with the pain “…to use regular Tylenol…” as I was told via phone, and voice message, which was insufficient to dull the tooth extraction and bone graft with sutures. I find this discriminatory against veterans where I should have been informed prior to any dealings of their inadequacy to send prescriptions to military pharmacy. I would not recommend this dental office if you are a veteran or active duty military. Archibald Orara

Negative experience: They mail you a bill even tho your online account would say you owe 0.00. And there is no instructions on the mail how to pay the bill apart from sending a snail mail via check. they are not very transparent and thorough with billing and or procedures.

Fantastic experience: I started going to Eastlake Family Dentistry in 2023. I loved Dr Theodosis right away, but sadly he moved shortly after that. Dr Jones replaced him and she did not disappoint. She quickly became my new favorite. She really knows her stuff and is very gentle and patient! I love Brenda! She is easy to talk to and explains everything well. You can tell the minute you get there that everyone at Eastlake Family Dentistry works so well as a team. I would definitely recommend Eastlake Family Dentistry to anyone looking for a dentist.

Fantastic experience: It would be nice or a plus when the dentist pops in to say hi to check on your teeth after cleaning. My previous experience from other dental clinics.. the dentist came in . I remember their names and faces… very likely I recommend them to friends. Although I have to say my visit today with my dental hygienist is a 5 star.

Fantastic experience: Another visit to the dentist, I chipped my lower molar on New Years Day. It was ease to schedule the appointment. Maria (she was one of the staff from Dr. Slipock) called me first thing on Monday(1/6) since I called on Friday(1/3) and she was able to squeeze me at 1:00 p.m. This was my first time to have Dr. Alfonso do the work since Dr. Slipock. She was very professional and shared two options. We decided on a fill instead of crown. I very much appreciated she took time to discuss the options. The whole process seemed to go very easily, no pain. Always hard to say from the patient side since my role was to just keep my mouth open. She has gentle hands! The only thing I miss from Dr. Slipock is he would tell me what he was doing and what I should feel other than that loving Dr. Alfonso and her staff.

Negative experience: My family and I have been patients at this dental office for years. On December 2, I had an appointment for a prophylaxis, teeth X-rays, and a tooth filling. After the procedures, while I was still in the dental parking lot looking in the mirror of my car, I noticed a significant chip in the lower center of my tooth. This chip was easily visible to the doctor, hygienist, or dental assistant. I immediately returned to the dental office and informed them about the chip in my tooth. The doctor addressed it by filling the chipped area; however, I was still charged the co-pay, even though the chip occurred during the procedure. My main disappointment is that they did not apologize, and I wish they had taken full responsibility for the damage to my tooth.

Negative experience: Terrible place! The dentist was very rude. He made me feel very uncomfortable asking me what I did for work, basically trying to size me up and see how much I could spend on additional services.

Fantastic experience: I had a good experience at Eastlake Family Dentistry. I had been putting off finding a local dentist because I really loved where I went in Mira Mesa. But scheduling was becoming an issue. This is the first thing that stood out with Eastlake Family Dentistry. From the moment I filled out an appointment request, it was quick and easy to get an appointment. The admin are very communicative and even reached out to get me in sooner. Monica, the hygienist, was incredibly friendly and made me feel comfortable right away. She explained everything she was doing, which really put me at ease. Dr. Jones was just as amazing—she took the time to talk me through the health of my teeth and her recommendations. I really appreciated their thoroughness and laidback approach that didn’t make me feel pressured to make a care decision on the spot. Happy I made the switch.

Negative experience: This place sucks. I’m a new patient, scheduled my appointment 2 whole weeks ago for tomorrow. They just call me now stating they don’t even take my insurance. So I waited 2 weeks for nothing basically. Staff have no clue what they’re doing and are completely clueless. Do not come here unless you want to waste your damn time.

Fantastic experience: I have been a patient at Eastlake Family Dentistry for 14 years. The staffs were awesome but MJ my new dental hygienist been great! Eastlake Family Dentistry will send notification when my appointment is coming which is a plus. They also do not overbook their appointments thus, they don’t make you wait when it’s your turn. Located at Eastlake Village Walk, the clinic is very clean and has plenty of parking available. I highly recommend this clinic!

The next day I called in and I was able to get an emergency screening. I was checked out & the Dental staff went over my options with a quote of what was need to be done & how much I would be needing to pay. They were very fast & very professional. Fantastic experience: Dr. Jones was great, the hygenist did an awesome job and the office staff were all wonderful. Dr. Jones was very friendly and I appreciated her taking her time to explain things and share her personal experience to relate. One of the office staff asked me if I would like her to help me schedule a referral appointment to see the endodontist. She took the time to call right there in the office to get that appointment scheduled for me and it was not an urgently needed appointment. That is what I call Customer Service! The hygenist put vaseline on my lips after cleaning to rehydrate them from the chapping too. They also give a "welcome gift" for the first visit. Overall, wonderful first experience!

Negative experience: Avoid this place at all costs. They will recommend expensive treatment or dental equipment, and tell you that your insurance will cover most or half of it in order for you to get it. The truth is, they have no clue if your insurance covers it and when your insurance does not they will charge you the entire bill. Now you are stuck with a bill that you would have otherwise avoided if you had known you had to pay the entire thing. Also the office manager (Blanca Barajas) is extremely rude and unprofessional. When I tried to explain my situation to her she responded sarcastically to me and laughed. When I did not appreciate her professionalism, I tried to request to speak to her manager and she refused to provide her manager’s contact information. She also refused to give me her full name, but in her own ignorance, I received her full name in the email she sent me. Go to this place at your own risk!!!!!

The equipment was state-of-the-art and the dental techs were friendly and professional. Dr. Steve explained the proposed treatment plan in easily understood terminology. Fantastic experience: First time at Eastlake Family Dentistry and was very pleased with their service and care. Monica was my dental hygienist and she was great! She paid attention to my concerns and was very gentle and thorough with my cleaning. Dr. Jones was very sweet, friendly, and knowledgeable when she finalized my visit. They even give you a nice little gift as a new patient. Definitely would recommend them.
