Fantastic experience: I had such a great experience, and I especially want to thank Mary, the receptionist, for being so kind and helpful! She took the time to answer all of my questions and made sure I understood everything clearly. I was feeling a little nervous about my upcoming procedure, and Mary was so patient and reassuring, which really helped ease my nerves. She went above and beyond to make sure I felt comfortable, informed, and prepared. I truly appreciate her kindness and the wonderful way she treated me!

Negative experience: Very unorganized schedule an appointment for a Saturday at 8am I waited an hour still wasn’t called back. Front office kept asking if I was a new patient. I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt when I read the comments. But this office really is something. Will never schedule with this office again.

Positive experience: 1/3 of the staff I interacted with had any customer service. I understand being busy, overbooked, or under staffed but communicate that and consider calling patients if the staff who does exams is out of office

Negative experience: Horrible place. I waited more than 3 hours just to be told I have to reschedule. What kind of service is this? Its not like you guys do this for free.. If you read this, go somewhere else because this place will waste your time and money.

Negative experience: One dentist tried to get me to do a root canal on a tooth with no pain and no problem other than being a bit more yellow than some other teeth. I felt pressured and rushed and had to say no twice and firmly. I filed a formal complaint and their company disregarded it as having no proof. Many of their “good” reviews may be influenced by awarding goodies to customers in exchange for review. That was my personal experience, anyway. Since then I’ve switched to another dentist who says my tooth is just fine, if anything nothing needs to be done to it for years. The company likely needs to pay and respect their workers more so that the workers can offer better service. Create some change in the business model.

Negative experience: I had an extremely frustrating and unprofessional experience with Western Dental. Their communication and handling of insurance verification were unacceptable. I scheduled a dental appointment for my mom, who has active dental insurance coverage. On the day of the appointment, Western Dental had apparently not properly verified her coverage. We were told that she was not covered, even though we had already provided her insurance information. We waited for nearly two hours only to be told that she could not be seen. We decided to reschedule, and we were told that the office would call us once they had confirmed her insurance coverage. They never did. When we showed up for the rescheduled appointment, the insurance still had not been properly verified. Once again, we were contacted the same day and told that my mom did not have coverage. At that point, I personally called her insurance company to verify everything—and, sure enough, my mom did have active coverage, and Western Dental is in-network with her insurance. I had even specifically asked Western Dental to confirm that they accepted her insurance. My question is: How is it that I, as a family member, can call the insurance company and verify the coverage, but a professional dental office cannot? This entire situation could have been avoided if the office had properly verified her insurance before the appointment, communicated with us as promised, and taken responsibility for the mistake. What is even more disappointing is that there seemed to be very little remorse or accountability for the amount of time and inconvenience we went through. Patients should not have to repeatedly take time off, show up for appointments, wait hours, and then do the insurance verification themselves because the office failed to do it. Western Dental needs to do better when it comes to communication, insurance verification, professionalism, and accountability. Our time matters too.

Negative experience: Honestly this branch needs help. They give appointments at ine time and they dont see you till hrs later. The staff is rude and honestly the Dr's are very inconsiderate to people's time. This place needs help or new management because its not normal to people to be treated like this.

I came to Western Dental because I was dealing with a severe toothache..I called the day before..and they were able to get me in at 8:00 AM on Saturday..From the moment I arrived, I was immediately greeted and taken care of. Since I don’t currently have dental insurance, i was especially concerned about the cost of treatment. Mary Dominguez was extremely helpful and took the time to explain my options and the costs involved, and the future treatment plan including the extraction I will need..She made sure I understood everything The doctors and staff were friendly, professional..and took the time to explain everything to me..I hadnt been to the dentist since I was a teen..so I had been extremely hesitant and nervous about going for years. After this experience, I feel much more comfortable about coming back for future appointments Thank you to Mary, the doctors, and the entire staff for making what I expected to be a stressful experience much easier. I really appreciate the way I was treated and would definitely recommend this office to others

Negative experience: I came in today as a new patient hoping to get an evaluation done for my Wisdom Teeth. My mother had made an appointment for me for 3:30 p.m. When we arrived there was a handful of people already waiting and even with an appointment we were told we would be called in order of the sign in sheet. I didn’t mind too much thinking they were busy. However an hour later and we had still not been attended too. An elder man had been called up to the desk and was asked if he wanted to reschedule since they were “backed up”. The man spoke Spanish and was trying to explain that this was his second time coming already and had to cancel work to come in today since last time they made him wait an hour and didn’t attend to him. He was rescheduled quite dismissively by the front desk lady and I was then called up. Similarity, I was asked the same, to reschedule. Now the most astonishing part of this experience was that I was sent home with all the paperwork to fill out. Since it seemed that as I was trying to fill out the paperwork to return to the front desk lady she kept handing it back to me, told me to take it, and then proceeded to call up the next person after me. I was utterly dismissed. I’m young too and have had to work in customer service as well before, but I would never be so dismissive towards my patients. When asked why we had to wait so long just to be sent home, she couldn’t answer and just stuttered and said “um… yeah, you know.” Like that was a clear answer.

Fantastic experience: Dr Zhong shoes are so incredible And Mary and all the office staff are wonderful

Negative experience: I arrived with my child for their 8 am appt at 745 and 2 people are waiting at the door before the doors open at 8 another 3 people arrive. Sounds like a joke the punchline is likely an hour plus wait. I think they overbooked and sadly it happens every single time. But the employees are friendly. They get paid to spend their Saturday here.

Fantastic experience: I've always been nervous about the Dentist.I have to say i was far from that here.I actually was real relaxed.Valerie and mary were very nice and very knowledgeable about a lot i wasnt aware of...mary also explained something that i would find hard to explain,she did it so patiently and well.I will be recommending people bere ....and i dont recommend anyone to a dentist.

Negative experience: Horrible experience w the El Monte office on Valley/Peck Road. Scheduled two appts, arrived and services got cancelled day of. I rely on public transport and have disabilities w my hand and feet. What a huge inconvenience.

Negative experience: I had an appointment scheduled for 9:00 AM today and waited for over an hour without being seen. Unfortunately, I had to leave because I only had a limited amount of time available during my lunch break. What made the experience even more disappointing was the attitude of the front desk staff, who were not professional or courteous when addressing the situation. I understand that delays can happen, but keeping patients waiting for such a long time without proper communication or consideration is unacceptable. I left without receiving any consultation or treatment. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this clinic.

Negative experience: If I could give 0 stars I would. This is the worst place you can genuinely go to…they’re so unprofessional. I had a really bad experience with Dr. Zhong, he treats patients badly because he’s had a “long day”, which has nothing to do with the way he performs work on anyone under no circumstance. He will also judge you and the work they’ve done on your teeth before, when all along his coworkers are the ones doing it. The staff just brushes it off saying he’s “old and grumpy” which is unacceptable. Also, be prepared to wait two hours. The staff will simply tell you your not on the appointments list when their is too many people waiting…I wish someone would have told me before I visited this dentist.

Negative experience: Worst dental office ever. Do not get your braces here they will literally forget to do ur regular dental work routinely u have to remind them and they do not do ur work up you need prior to ur braces. My daughter is now seeing another dental office with proof showed me all the work up they missed prior to the braces. Thanks for taking my 5k and not doing her routine dental work up here for the 3 years she was a patient here. Do not waste ur money here . If I could I would of given them 0 stars

Fantastic experience: I'd like to take a moment to share my positive experience at Western Dental in El Monte. Everyone at the El Monte office has always been incredibly kind and welcoming. Dr. Zhong is an excellent dentist who takes the time to explain how I can better care for my teeth and maintain good oral hygiene. The staff is consistently pleasant, helpful, and attentive. I especially appreciate Mari, the office manager, who is always very informative and takes the time to explain my treatment options as well as payment plans, helping me make the best decisions for my care. Overall, the entire team is professional, caring, and attentive to my dental needs. I highly recommend this office to anyone looking for quality dental care.

Negative experience: Wasted my time was in there for an hour for the dentist to be rude and have me come back a different day. The staff was really cool is the doctor who does not carry himself properly hopefully he can take care of.my teeths after I made very unprofessional comments towards him.

Negative experience: I’ve been a patient at this clinic for almost a year, and my experience has been very frustrating. Appointments are often canceled last minute, there are consistently long wait times, and some of the front staff are rude and unprofessional. At one visit, I had an 8:00 AM appointment but the office didn’t open until 8:30, and I then had to wait another hour to be seen. On another occasion, my appointment was canceled just 15 minutes before. Overall, there’s a clear lack of organization and respect for patients’ time.

Negative experience: Worst dental experience ever, damn that I forgot to check the reviews before going to this one, all the comments about the wait are true, 2 o’clock appointment for cleaning and now 4:53 still haven’t start yet, 3 hours just for an X-ray…. And I personally don’t think they provide good services, as a person who has periodontal disease I understand the typical stuffs they check, X-ray and measures gum lines before doing anything, and they didn’t measures gum lines and directly says I have deep pockets and need deep cleaning. And so I still go through them just because I waited so long already, and it turns out they used 20 minutes for each side which is about the same time if I go to other dental for a regular cleaning.

Negative experience: They've called to reschedule my appointment 3 times already. Staff is nice enough; but the office is very run down and does not feel like a clean place. My first appointment, they took my X-rays, then sent me back to the waiting room. They had me waiting for TWO HOURS before i was finally seen, and they didn't even do anything - no cleaning, nothing. It is clear to me that they have a Total lack of respect for their patients time. I had had X-rays done at a different (better) dentist office earlier that month in the first place; but they wouldn't accept them, instead opting to just waste more of our time. Edit to reply: i don't believe you one bit, so stop lying in replies, honey.

Fantastic experience: Got to my appt. And was taken in right away. As always Valerie was so nice and took the time to explain what needed to be done and made sure to set up my next 2 appointments while I waited to see Dr. Zhang. Due to my work schedule she made sure to accommodate my appts. As needed. Once I saw my dentist he was very professional, got in and did what needed to be done in a short time. I’ve been coming to them for years and never been disappointed.

If you’re a first time patient at this clinic, I recommend you to arrive a bit more earlier than your appointment time because it tends to get busy depending on what day you go. Positive experience: It was a very very long wait didn't like it. My appointment was at 4:30pm came out until 8pm. The person in charger was very very nice but she is over worked needs more help .

Negative experience: Worst experience ever.!!! My appointment was scheduled for 4:00 PM. Two hours later, I was still waiting to be checked in, standing behind two other patients. I have been waiting for this appointment because my last two checkups resulted in different opinions from staff, which has delayed the dental work that needs to be done. The continued waiting and lack of clear communication have only prolonged the issue and made it worse. The staff was dismissive, my concerns were not addressed, and the appointment felt rushed. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this office.

Negative experience: I do not recommend this dental office. After waiting over two hours, my teeth were cleaned very aggressively by an Asian male dentist, and the cleaning was not thorough. Unfortunately, long wait times have been a consistent issue—each visit has required a minimum two-hour wait. In addition, the office repeatedly recommends unnecessary procedures that are not covered by insurance, requiring out-of-pocket payment. Overall, the experience has not been worth the time.

Negative experience: I shared my insurance details online and with their appointment setter, but they did not check whether I was covered by them until I got to the appointment. A complete waste of time.

Negative experience: We scheduled an appointment for 11/7 at 12 noon we signed in at 11:20 a.m ive been sitting in your waiting room for over 1 hour and 20 minutes and have not been seen or updated. When I asked staff why we are waitong for so long we were told that there is a staff shortage, but this is inexcusable. I was 40 min early to my moms appointment and need to take my dad to an appointment at 2. This is our first visit and will probably be our last. Im leaving this office at 1pm if we are not seen before then.

Negative experience: The dental assistants were all lovely. The dentists on the other hand were a nightmare. I had one dentist who asked me why I hadn't been back in a while and when I mentioned I had a death in the family he said it was no excuse... I had another dentist ask me if my work had been done in Mexico and when I explained it had been done at a different western dental he said "oh... great work" so they will also be hearing from a lawyer soon.

Negative experience: This office acts in a very unprofessional way. Starting with the receptionist Wendy all the way to the Manager Mary. They violate HIPPAA laws and let patients get treatments and braces without the guardians consent. You wait over an hour for your appointment before you’re called in. Think twice about making this your dental office. It’s a very unprofessional office!

Negative experience: I definitely don't recommend this place. This people take advantage about my PPO insurance only for XRAYS. when XRays supposed are free on this place. I was charged for my insurance. The prices are super high on this place. They told me that I was needing an expensive treatment when I didn't need nothing on my teeth.

During the tooth evaluations, the dentist and staff took the time to thoroughly explain everything and answer all of my questions without rushing. The office manager is great, very organized and had appointments scheduled in advance. Looking to be a permanent customers here! Had to update the review as following conditions: Calling center did not review the submitted paper work. After document is submitted, still call center staff did not see it. The initial evaluation stated 2 tooth needs to be removed. Scheduling for the appointment, it comes the removing is not necessary. Called back, left note waiting for the solution. Pending for more information.

My appointment was at 9am they scheduled several people at once and they check in one by one meaning that if someone take one hour to be checked in you will be waiting. Negative experience: I was looking for a dentist and called to get information. I was told I needed to provide my insurance information to get answers. Anna who said she would call me back. She never called me back. She was really rude. Treated me as if Iam uneducated but on the contrary I think it was her that was lacking knowledge and customer service skills. Negative experience: This place sucks and they try to scam you. They recommended a bunch of things I did NOT need (I got a second opinion diff. Dentist) and they can't keep down a decent dentist if their life depended on it. Every time I went there the front staff would be fighting with an angry client. Save yourself the pain and suffering and DO NOT COME HERE. 0 stars if I could.

Negative experience: dont overbook patients please. dont take so many walk ins and please let your guest know when the hygienist is in or not. 1st visit- i had an apptmnt made waited 3 hours to be xrayed and just told that teeth cant be clean bc no hygienist. 3 HOURS for a 20 min x ray exam!!! 2nd visit- waited 15-20 mins to be seen and teeth cleaned. not bad. quick and professional doctor. 3rd visit- 20 min wait 4th visit- told me the hygienist isnt in and i had to reschedule.. i woke up early to be on time for my appointment. this is why i hate this place 5th- place is overbooked

Negative experience: Yesterday's dental appointment was a waste of time for me as usual because there was no doctor, the assistant only changed my dental plastics for two minutes and I know that there will be no change in my teeth until the next appointment. And I constantly take time off from work and school to go to my dental appointments and there are always problems, doctors constantly change and my teeth will never get better because they work with new and inexperienced doctors but I started treatment once and paid so much money that now I am thinking of stopping the treatment but my teeth are in much worse condition than they were naturally and I am afraid of losing my teeth. I don't know what to do. I hope someone reads what I wrote and does it for others.! At my first dental appointment the doctor said the following when he evaluated my teeth; "My teeth will get better in just 6-7 months because my teeth are already straight and you only need a very small change." But it has been 2 years since we started treatment and my teeth are now in worse condition than before and the inside of my mouth is always sore and despite having a deep cleaning done in the first year, I need a deep cleaning again as the process gets longer and I will pay extra money for this again. because at first my insurance covered general dental but now they told me "we don't work with your insurance anymore" and they will charge me extra money. also why is the process taking so long? when will my treatment be finished? why am I paying you all the time even though it's not my fault? when I ask them questions they get angry with me and never give me a satisfactory answer. I hope not all branches of Western Dental are like this. but the El Monte branch is a disaster. I don't know if it will be useful to reply to this message asking for my feedback (because I wrote before but I didn't get a positive response) but I hope someone from Western Dental reads it and offers a professional solution to my problems, otherwise my treatment will never end... and I feel used and this really upsets me

Negative experience: This is the worst dentist office in the world. The El Monte western dental. My last appointment there was like dried gunk coming down the wall. I was sat in a room with a bunch of maybe oxygen tanks, they were encrusted with dirt and debris where they met the floor. I have to admit the assistants and clerical people are very kind understanding and amazing. But the dentist have the worst bedside manner I have ever experienced. I paid upfront 10.000$ for dental reconstruction, not only did they mess up all the steps to do it correctly, when I went back to tell the dentist about pain inflammation or other issues they would laugh at me and tell me I was crazy. That was until I had puss and blood erupting from my gums. I had a denture implant, it’s not an easy procedure that takes months to complete. I walked out of the office in tears many times from the way the dentist and surgeons treated me. The main dentist an I order Asian man refused to adjust my dentures even though it was causing extreme pain bleeding and discomfort. The assistant took me aside and told me to use a mail file to correct it myself. The surgeon won’t listen to me mocks me and treats this nearly 40 year old man like a child. The last appointment last week yelled at me. Because the denture is misshapen and allows food to inter my gums when I eat and it hurts bad. I asked him to fill the space. He ignored me and yelled at me saying that I have to deal with it. I have never been treated so bad by a medical professional in my life after I went in to debt to be able to chew food normally.i still need more work done, but I’ll never go to them for anything ever again. My score for the dentist -10/10 the office staff and assistants 9/10

Negative experience: Don’t go there! They waste your time at will! I arrived there at 3:01 pm and my regular cleaning appointment time is 3:30. Only one patient was in the waiting room. I finished the check in procedures and they verified my insurance eligibility quickly cause I have PPO plan. However, I waited alone in the waiting room until 4:30pm. Nobody told me what was going on. When I asked, the coordinator just said they were putting my information into the system.

Fantastic experience: I was greatly attended by Maria Dominguez about the removal of my wisdom teeth and the cost of me getting braces. She was great at explaining all the details about the procedure and the cost. She was able to help me a lot in finding a way to be able to comfortably afford the removal of my wisdom teeth. Avelina was also a great help in cleaning my teeth and making sure everything went well with my cleaning. Very professional and I would highly recommend them both

Negative experience: Horrible staff. They made my girlfriend wait 3 hours just to tell her she needed $1000 up front since she didn't get approved for a broken tooth to be temporary glued. The doctor does not speak fluent English. The workers had to explain things for him since the language barrier. Worst experience at any dentistry and will never go back.

Negative experience: I saw all these negative reviews on Yelp but I still went there to give it a shot, big mistake ever. I went there for a TMJ consult, and regular cleaning. I waited in the lobby for 30 minutes after my appointment time, that's okay, I understand sometimes medical office gets busy. Dr said I just needed regular cleaning and a night guard. Then someone came in and gave me an estimate, she said I needed a deep cleaning (like WHAT?!) that is not covered by my insurance and it will be $812 out of pocket. So I explained to her I only want a regular cleaning that is covered by my insurance, she said the doctor can't do a regular cleaning on me as he didn't order it.. Like WHAT?! She then told me to come back at 2 as the doctor is going to be at lunch at 1. My appointment time was at 1130, and you are asking me to come back 2.5 hours later for a service that is not even covered by my insurance. No thanks. Ps: I went to another dentist for a second opinion, he said he doesn't know why I needed extra deep cleaning as my gum and teeth are fine. I got my cleaning and night guard from another dentist that is fully covered by my insurance. Stay away from this place. It's a scam.

I was not confident with my smile however, now after I have completed the treatment I love the way my smile looks like!! Staff is very, welcoming and kind a thank you to I Ulan M. And my Dr. who took good care of my oral hygiene.

Negative experience: I had an appointment for 10:30, arrived 10 minutes with all the paperwork pre printed and prepared, and ended up leaving at 11:30 without seeing anyone. When I went to them I am leaving & will reschedule, they told me “oh we JUST checked you in.” Like, what? I’ve been sitting out here for an hour.

Fantastic experience: First time visiting this dentist and came in for a check up. They were very kind and friendly. They explain everything to you and offer payment plans which is super helpful.

Negative experience: Rescheduled over the phone, gave insurance information and was told they would verify. Went in office and they said their office does not accept my insurance and I wasted my time. Please be more transparent between workers and be more organized.

Negative experience: the office staff "jenn & Selene" I highly recommend they get some training on customer service, instead of arguing with someone who's having a dental emergency and must have their wisdom teeth pulled. Theyre quick to argue Infront of other customers instead of trying to get a resolution I even said I was going to pay out of pocket after they told me my insurance isn't covered by their doctor even tho two days prior to the appointment the staff was so quick to allow my insurance to make that office my primary dental office which now I have to request a different dentist since they no longer are contracted. If they are what represents western dental management and office staff I highly RECOMMEND YOU TO STAY AWAY FROM THIS OFFICE!!! the staff behind the desk are just badly trained.

Negative experience: TLDR; Don't waste your time. This dental establishment employs fear-based tactics in an attempt to influence individuals, potentially leading them into engaging with their sales initiatives. Long version: I'm not one to give such a horrible review. Hope my experience explains the red flags of this place. I made an appointment for my first visit as a new patient, that had just previously been seen for my bi-annual teeth cleaning and check up. My insurance changed and I decided to give this place a try. Little did I know I was walking into a sales pitch. I waited in the waiting room for 1 hour (I thought, ok pretty "reasonable"), they took the usual 360 xrays and plopped me down on the exam chair with an 'assistant'. The doctor examined my teeth for less than 2 minutes and started punching a bunch of numbers into the system for the next 10 minutes. The doctor and the assistant exchanged some awkward talks of what seemed obvious "you can try to sell her the more expensive stuff, if that doesn't work, go down a level". The doctor left, and the assistant began the sales pitch. Mind you, I was never diagnosed w/ any prior gum disease, and I had just my regular cleaning done 7 months ago. My frustration of this whole process, thinking that I could get my regular cleaning done can be simply put: She tried selling me stage 3 teeth cleaning care plus tooth extraction with numbing for $4k+ and reassuring me that they had a payment plan available. When obviously my interest was not there, she lowered it to $2k+ because I could 'probably' do ok with a stage 2 cleaning. To whoever reads this as management, don't push sales so upfront it's laughable. I hope whoever reads this strays far from this chain. It was my last resort from insurance, but I will never recommend anyone here.

Positive experience: I'm trying to stay optimistic signed a $5,500 contract (yes, I need the dental work) they quoted me 16k for everything they said I need... I'm like let's only do the absolute necessities.. today I waited 90 minutes even with an appt.. a lot of unhappy customers here today.
