Fantastic experience: Hygienist is great! The whole team is wonderful. I always have a great experience. It is a joy to go to Kat.

Negative experience: They were great when Dr. Salum was still there in 2023, but have gone downhill since. Office constantly makes billing and scheduling mistakes and a cavity filling I received in Oct 2025 broke after less than a month. A fresh dentist school grad did the work and she didn’t even tell me that they weren’t going to replace the crown that fell off, which was the main reason I booked the appointment.

Fantastic experience: My recent visit to the Gentle Dental was nothing but exceptional. The front desk staff was friendly, their was little to no wait, the hygenist was so kind, her thoroughness was outstanding, and her gentle demeanor during my cleaning was most certainly welcomed. The communication from Dr Salloum about my dental health was clear, and I left feeling well-cared-for and confident in both the hygenist and his expertise. Looking forward to my next appointment!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Diane Alhafez is an outstanding dentist. She is highly skilled and professional, while also being incredibly friendly, caring, and patient. Her assistant is equally warm and attentive, and demonstrates excellent technical efficiency. The entire office staff is welcoming and supportive, and the office itself provides a wonderful, comfortable environment.

Negative experience: I wouldn’t send my worse enemy here. The receptionists are clueless and messed up my estimates and balances over multiple times. Plus when I first became a new patient I called twice to ask if they accepted my insurance. The first time the lady misunderstood me and thought I said a different insurance. I looked up with my insurance card that they did take my insurance so I called back and asked the lady directly about my insurance. She told me that I misspoke the first time and they do take the insurance I said. She did not want to take my insurance information at the time of me calling and I get there, they tell me they don’t take the type of my insurance and send me home. On my walk home they call me and say they messed up and take my insurance. I get there and they tell me actually my insurance is inactive. I call my insurance in the office and they tell me I have active insurance. They were using my insurance from 2021. At a later visit, gave me an estimate that was over $1000 and I told them I couldn’t afford it and I wouldn’t get getting the work done. The receptionist is pushing me to sign up for a loan that day in the office with some company they partner with. I decline and my next visit my estimate is magically $800 cheaper. So I get the work done over the next few months. Months later I owe $400 because they messed up and my insurance didn’t cover what they told me they would. The manager Karen ( very appropriate name for this old lady) is heartless and unethical. Told me I had to ask for a “pretreatment estimate “ to get them to ask my insurance directly for a price and that the estimate they gave me wasnt from my insurance. I asked her how an average person would know the difference and why they didn’t offer me a pretreatment estimate. She told me they legally could not offer it without me asking. How would someone know to ask for something they don’t know about? She then goes on to encourage me to appeal my insurance. Tell me to appeal the first rejection because they will deny the first appeal. Tells me I can still come for my cleaning while my appeals are pending as long as I keep them updated, which I do. Come to my cleaning I’m told I have to pay the $400 balance to get any treatment. Which is not what Karen originally tells me. I ask to speak with her and she tells me it’s been too long and I have to pay despite that fact my reappeal was still pending. I asked her for the patient rights, who accredits their office, and who to file an official complaint with. She tells me she doesn’t know any of this information…. As the manager of the location. After going back and work with her she finds me a number to complain to gentle dental which isn’t what I wanted , I wanted the state involved. The number she gave me has never called me back to this day over a month later and multiple phone calls and voicemails. At this point I hate this place and regret coming. The $400 filling they did ended up causing me more pain than not getting it done. I went for them to look at it after and they made it worse. I can’t even floss in the area without pain over 6 months later and I still am sensitive to hard foods. I was told I could come back in for them to look at it again but I don’t trust them. It was also $400 as my insurance over covers silver fillings and they only do white fillings. My insurance told me they should have known this and told me. Karen denies that they should had known this or have told me.

Fantastic experience: Honestly tried other locations but when it comes down to actually having the best care for my teeth, no one compares to Gentle Dental and Dr Girschek.

Negative experience: Avoid at all costs! Dr. Girshic is the worse dentist ever. I went there for a crown, he completely cut down the opposing tooth and now that tooth needs a root canal. Also, half the employees are overworked to a level of unprofessional behavior.

Fantastic experience: This was my first cleaning after switching from your Burlington office to Waltham due to moving. Christine, the hygienist, was wonderful—thoroughly professional, but also personable and kind. In the past, I have exhibited anxiety about dental procedures, but Christine help me feel relaxed and confident in a new setting with new practitioners. I look forward to seeing Christine again.

Fantastic experience: Wow! This is what I expressed when I got home after my dental cleaning. Kat, the dental hygienist is amazing. What a wonderful job she did on my teeth! She is a caring, knowledgeable and very polite provider. This lady is able to go from one room to another and still manages to provide such an excellent care. I have been coming here for years and I can tell you that she is the best they ever had. Thank you Kat and if they let you go, it would a huge loss for them. Happy new year and keep it up!

Negative experience: gentle dental used to be okay. serviceable but not amazing. never felt particularly cared for and it was a rotating door of dentists. but fine, no big issues. recently its been a total disaster. been to gentle dental 3x in the past 2 months over the same filling, and it broke again today. they cant see me for days. i cant eat or drink. if i go to another gentle dental location they will not honor their own mistake, and itll cost me hundreds of dollars to pay out of pocket because it will be a different doctor doing the filling. they only have 1 doctor that can do fillings at the waltham site, and she is constantly overbooked and unfocused because of it. first appointment they mistakenly booked me at a time there was no dentist on site. second visit, i was left alone during my first attempt at filling for the dentist to tend to another patient who was deemed more of an emergency. despite me being numbed and ready, i sat there for 20+ minutes waiting. she never filed down the filling and i couldnt floss. had to come back. third visit, she did not numb me, overcorrected the filling, and i experienced pain and sensitivity. now it has broken off. in a month. i recommend you go literally anywhere else. this place cant even pretend to care about you.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Girschek is a fantastic dentist. I have been a patient for many year. If you are lucky to see him, please do so. You won’t be sorry! More importantly, he is a very caring, compassionate person. He cares about his patients. I can’t say enough about the person he is & I am very fortunate to know him & have him as my dentist!!

Negative experience: I’ve always liked the hygienists and dentists at this office, but my recent visit was extremely upsetting due to the front desk staff and my family and I are now reconsidering ever going back here. I was told by Karen at the front desk that I could not be seen unless I paid an unpaid bill that I had never received. I explained that I had never received any bill and asked for it to be sent to me. I was told it had been sent multiple times. When I asked what address was on file, it was confirmed to be my correct current address—yet I still never received anything. After questioning it, Karen discovered the bill had been sent to a completely different name and an address in another state—an address I have never lived at. I was told I still had to pay immediately or I would not be seen. I explained that I had taken time off work for this appointment and should have been notified in advance if this was an issue. I was given no choice and felt forced to pay just to be seen. After paying so I could have my appointment, I was so stressed that my blood pressure was severely elevated when they checked it and I became emotional. The clinical staff were kind and professional, but the situation never should have escalated this way. Karen was unnecessarily rude and dismissive throughout the interaction, and because of this experience, I am now reconsidering whether my family and I will continue care here.

Negative experience: Beware, they will tell you it costs one thing when you go in, claim your insurance will cover it, and then change the price. If you disagree they send you to a collector and try and ruin your credit.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Girschek has been my dentist for about 30 years. He asked me why l was so calm during my dental procedure. Dr. G has a way of making his patients feel calm and his assistants are wonderful too.

Negative experience: Karen Docror robert girdchek and his staff are disrespectful to their patients and do not have the best interest in their care. They do not communicate any services before doing them. They do not take any of the patients initial survey on the iPad seriously nor actually read the responses. When you call their phone number to ask for billing questions or to give patient feedback, they tell you that they are busy or to call back. I was just on the phone with the front desk person Arelis and she proceeded to hang up the phone instead of transferring me to Karen or doctor roberts. They charged me for x-rays after I told them multiple times that I already had my x-rays taken at my old office (within 6 months). In addition to this, they told my husband they were doing a cleaning and did not explain the difference between a regular and DEEP cleaning and now we owe over $300. They also scheduled a follow up and did not inform us the reason or when it was then emailed us to charge the $25 no show feed when we didn’t show… We were unaware of this appointment. I have been trying to give them feedback so that no other patient has to go through the horrible experience we did of poor communication and no details on the procedures. Unfortunately, they do not want the feedback just their bills paid. Hate to see poor patient care. I have never had such a painful cleaning and my husband stated the same. They are truly not gentle.

Fantastic experience: I think that the fact that I moved to FL 2 years ago and I continue to go to Gentle Dental in Waltham, MA for my dental care needs absolutely speaks volumes for the professionalism and highly skilled dental work of Dr. Girschek and Jennie. Their dental work is unsurpassed. They are super clean, friendly, compassionate and gentle. When I emailed Dr. Girschek on a weekend to let him know that my tooth had broken, he emailed me several times to make sure that I would get an appointment that was convenient to my flight schedule and the forecast in MA. I have a temporary crown now and I feel great!

Fantastic experience: I would like to thank Dr Girschek and his dental assistant Fadia for such an amazing experience. I personally get anxious when it comes to dental work,but he made me feel so much at ease and relaxed not to mention a very kind person with alot of professionalism all through. My root canal treatment made me feel so brand new..I highly recommend this place for all your dental needs.

Negative experience: The dentists and their assistants are fine and do excellent work, so that is why I go there. The problem is the people at the desk. I was given a bill I agreed to pay before work on an implant was started. At the completion of the appointment, I charged the very hefty sum to my credit card, believing it was in the amount I was billed at the beginning of the appointment. To my surprise, when I got home and looked at the receipt, they had charged an extra $542.00 to my credit card. On another visit, I was told I had not paid, when I had proof that I had. Dealing with the payment situation becomes a nightmare sadly in a clinic with fine dentists. Absolutely horrendous front desk, After massive overcharge, cannot get to speak to a live person. If you leave a message, they never call you back. I have left multiple messages, and remain without a call back. Thankfully, my credit card company is more professional. Sad that they have good dentists, but terrible from desk people

Fantastic experience: I recently brought my mother, who was in need of a new dentist in the Waltham area, to Gentle Dental in Waltham. My mother doesn't have the physical abilities she once did. Mobility and her ability to process things as she once did is an issue. However, that was not an issue at Gentle Dental in Waltham. While providing excellent service, Dr. Utset and her entire staff provided my mom professionalism, respect, and patience she needed. If you are in need of dental services, give them a call. You will received the respect and care that is not always easy to find!!! All stars for Waltham's Gentle Dental staff!!!

Negative experience: Terrible company! Poor dental practice policies. They do unnecessary dental work such as X-rays, fluoride treatments, etc. In addition, if you wish to change practices, they charge $30 for your records. This company abuses insurance coverage.

Dr. Gershak is a kind and skilled dentist and has been my dentist for years. The staff as well knows you and treats you with respect and kindness. Negative experience: Yet another scammer experience, they tried to scam me in Brighton and now they are doing it to my husband in Waltham. Charging him for a missed appointment that he never asked for. Please folks, stay away from this place, they are the definition of scammers.

Negative experience: Fine dental care, but absolutely terrible front desk and management. I went here a year ago, they looked at my insurance, confirmed I was covered, and then later sent me a bill for $900. I have been trying to dispute this for a year and the office is rude and unhelpful. They are now refusing to provide care, effectively extorting me for the money. I would avoid. The company's standard reply to this review is meaningless. I called that number and was met with rude unhelpful service.

Negative experience: This was an "ok" place to go for the past few years but recently, they have really tanked. I walked out today and I will not go back. I was told that I owed them money because THEY took too many x-rays and that it was MY JOB as the patient, to keep track of what they did. This is completely ridiculous! What doctor tells you that you are in charge of keeping track of what they do, instead of their office team? When I refused to pay for THEIR mistake, they denied me my cleaning. When I made the appointment for that cleaning, they knew about the balance and did not inform me that would not perform their duties and did not bother to cancel my appointment or inform me of this before I walked in the door. In addition to this, their latest dentist told me at my last visit that I needed a filling on a tooth that had been declared perfectly healthy by the previous dentist, only 6 months prior. There was no evidence of this "cavity" on their x-rays and when I declined, she tried to pressure me in to filling it even though she admitted that she would have to drill into and damage the healthy tooth to cover a small hole that is not hurting me or showing up as a cavity on x-ray. I feel like they are all about money and not even offering decent service anymore. I have moved on and will not look back, there are plenty of other dentists in the area with availability to schedule within the week.

Fantastic experience: I had a piece of my tooth drop off, I went to see Dr. Robert Girschek. After he checked my teeth, he said to me that that piece dropped off from you tooth will not affect your tooth, you don't need to do anything! He didn't even charge me for this service! I have been going to Gentle Dental in Waltham for about twenty years. From the very first visit I was treated as if I was their only client. Patience,courtesy and friendliness are the strong suits of everyone I have spoken to. From the people at the front desk, the hygienists, the specialists and Dr Robert Girschek. He is a man of integrity as well as an excellent dentist. Not to mention a nice guy!!! He stands behind his work 100%. I have always been treated more than fairly. Karen and Jen are the best!!! I’ve had two root canals from Dr Atassi….Top notch!!! Others whose names I can’t recall have all been wonderful. I cannot recommend Gentle Dental in Waltham enough. Fantastic experience: Thank you to the Gentle Dental Waltham staff when I needed emergency dental work today. The dentist, periodontist, and dental assistants were all professional and reassuring. They were able to see me the day I after I called and were able to deliver an unscheduled procedure the day I came in. The front desk’s practice staff explained the billing to me. It’s reassuring to have this practice nearby.

Negative experience: Sons appointment was 6pm…slot was double booked…so waited 40 minutes…then after cleaning and X-rays relays that dentist was not there and would have to come back to have my sons teeth examined. Total disregard for patients time.

Fantastic experience: I have been a patient of Dr Girschek at Gentle Dental in Waltham for a long time. I absolutely would recommend this practice and Dr G in particular to anyone who is looking for a kind, caring and talented dentist. He and Jenny are the absolute best!! He has taken great care of my dental health and has made all of the bridgework that I have. I am completely confident in my trust in him. Karen at the front desk is the best also! You really should love your dentist-as the slogan says - and you will definitely love the care at this office!!

Negative experience: I visited Gentle Dental Waltham in April 2023 for a simple filling, but unfortunately, the filling fell out within six months. When I returned, the same dentist briefly assessed me and abruptly recommended a root canal instead, offering it at a "discounted" but still costly rate. This abrupt change in diagnosis made me question the dentist’s professionalism and initial judgment. I sought a second opinion and received another filing elsewhere, which has held up. Meanwhile, the original clinic billed me $212 for a brief 20-minute visit that only suggested a more expensive procedure. When I contacted Gentle Dental to dispute the charge, I found their response unsatisfactory, as they seemed more interested in justifying the bill than addressing my concerns about their service. Overall, this was a highly disappointing experience, and I advise against using this clinic.

Fantastic experience: Very nice dentistry! The whole time they had known I was anxious about dentist offices so they kept communicating everything they were doing and what they were going to do along with being as gentle as possible. Overall best dentist office that I have been too. Also with the new patient offer very affordable and welcoming. The front desk staff were also very helpful and respectful

Negative experience: The first time I went there, they cleaned me and did a case, all excellent. Then when I returned to start my treatment they told me that they had to do another case because the tooth I needed to heal was not in case 1, when I specified I wanted to start with that tooth. They gave me anesthesia and made me pay in the middle of the treatment or not continue. The price was excessive more than $2k and also at the last appointment that was on Wednesday (the doctor was not there and they made me wait, they did not respect my time). For the price I paid the attention was terrible.

Fantastic experience: Until today, I’ve never been in a dental office that I genuinely enjoyed my time at. I came as a first-time patient to get a troublesome tooth evaluated and addressed. The front desk staff was amiable and efficient; Jenny, the dental assistant, is absolutely wonderful and clearly very adept at her job; and Dr. Girschek, a maestro with his drill, compliments his expertise with his patient-centered approach to dental care. Dr. Girschek and Jenny ensured I was comfortable throughout and kept me amused with their great senses of humor. The communication and patient education was better than any medical or dental care I’ve received. 10/10 experience.

Fantastic experience: This Gentle Dental is the best dental office I have gone to in years. Dr Girschek and ALL his staff is so kind and knowledgeable. I had a major problem with a bridge that fell off and googled every dentist I could and I found this office because of the great reviews. His assistants Fatima and Jenny were fantastic but they all were. I’ve driven by the office many times and would have never thought about that office. My severe problem was fixed perfectly and done that day. I only have to go back for a permanent bridge and cleaning. I’m usually stressed out at the dentist but everyone understood my problem and was so understanding. I now have a lifetime office and will not be looking for another dentist. If you don’t have a great dental practice you like, please take my advice and give them a call. You will be happy you did. Best ever.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Robert Girschek, DMD. was lovely! His dental assistant has been with him for 30 years. Their work was fantastic. He sat and looked right at me when we talked together. He was personable and polite, sat and chatted with me. He told me what he was doing, how he decided what to do, how he decided why that was the best procedure, took X-rays, explained the entire process that he would be doing, gave me the run-down of why he would do that, showed me the price it would cost, how long it would take, and listened carefully to me before, during, and after the appointment. I was very impressed. He put a temporary crown on the tooth and I made an appointment for 2 weeks from now to have the permanent crown put on. I would highly recommend him to anyone. I was very happy that he did all the right things.

Fantastic experience: I had a root canal here and it was totally painless. I was in pretty bad pain from an infected tooth and the procedure totally took away the pain and I didn't even have a sore mouth afterwards. The painful part is the cost, but it's pretty awful everywhere.

Fantastic experience: I had a horrible toothache over the weekend and didn’t know where to go. A friend of mine recommended Gentle Dental in Waltham, so I took a chance and was I impressed!! From walking through the doors being greeted by smiling faces -to the most kindest, caring of staff-and the gentlest dentist I could have hoped for… this is the place for me!! I know a place is good when everyone seems to love their job. Thank you Gentle Dental of Waltham!! You make going to the Dentist a breeze!!

Negative experience: I had a terrible experience with this office. To start, the receptionists fell on a spectrum of rude to unprofessional and incompentent. When I tried to book an appointment, the woman over the phone seemed confused about the times that were available. She was rude when I asked if I was confirmed, and when I arrived at this appointment, they said nothing had been booked. What a waste of time and gas. I also had a question about my insurance, and when I brought it up, one of the receptionists was really dismissive and had no idea what she was talking about. She referred me to her coworker, who was friendlier and more knowledgable. Her coworker said they ask their insurance department and would get back to me. They never got back to me. NOT surprised. The dentist was fine. He seemed irritated by my questions about my teeth and had a bit of an attitude. Fine, I'm sure he's busy. But later, he tried to make small talk, and he asked where I was really from. That microagression made me uncomfortable, and it was completely inappropriate, especially coming from a medical professional. I would like to mention the one positive experience at this office: the hygienist was very kind and professional. He took his time to explain everything he was doing, and he was gentle and thorough with the cleaning. Unfortunately, the good experience with the hygienist was overshadowed by the negative experience with the denist and the receptionists. Overall, I would NOT recommend this dental office anyone.

MJ is skillful and charming (and talented). Michael is warm and friendly. I always leave with sparkling teeth, a smile and a positive feeling.

Fantastic experience: I just want to repeat what I've written before: I highly recommend Gentle Dental in Waltham. Everyone who works there is kind and courteous. All the hygienists I've known have been really good. But I want to give extra praise to MJ. He's the ideal hygienist. As another reviewer wrote, his bed side manner is second to none. I too hope he never leaves and I look forward to seeing him again.

Fantastic experience: Hands down, best dental office I have ever gone to. From routine care and fillings to extraction, crowns and implants - equipment is top notch, quality seems great, and most importantly, people are super attentive and professional. I was in care of Drs. Goldberg (now in Natick), Girsheck, Othman, and Van de Rydt - everyone seems to care about you genuinely, and do their jobs very well. Their hygienists, technicians and office staff is also good - e.g. working with you through a complicated insurance situations etc. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a very satisfied patient here for 14 years! Their X-RAY machine is so cool! Dr. Girshek is kind, patient, educational and above all a “master in his class” in my book. My bridge was pure art and has lasted for years. His assistant Jenny is awesome too! The front desk staff is welcoming and nice. Oh and MJ does a great job, in an upbeat way Cleaning my teeth. I highly recommend this special office.

Dr. G. is the gentle bearded man we all need in our lives. Dr. V. is a dental mastermind; if I am ever murdered, he can identify my dental remains. It’s a pretty good place, I’d say.

Fantastic experience: Before being treated at Gentle Dental, I never thought having a perfect smile would be possible for me. Dr. Robert Girsheck proved me wrong. Since being treated I can't help but stop in every mirror I walk past to admire the smile I have now. The entire staff is incredibly nice and provided me with an amazing experience. Thank you all!

Negative experience: Did not give me a price breakdown on my new patient first visit with my insurance, and wasn’t able to plan financially for the procedure as a result at my next appointment. Proceeded to try to schedule an appointment for a tooth removal instead and front desk receptionist rudely told me that they would not even extract it on that day and it was a consultation and would require another appointment. Totally wasted my time and still stuck with a toothache. They seem to be more interested in charging your insurance provider than actually helping you. I will never be returning nor will I recommend Gentle Dental Waltham to anyone for their dental care.

Fantastic experience: First rate experience. I had let four years go by since my last dental appointment. Both the dentist who examined me and the hygienist who cleaned my teeth were fabulous. I have to especially recommend MJ, the hygienist. I was quite nervous about the cleaning because of the length of time since my last cleaning. He and his assistant were incredibly kind to me and understanding of my nervousness. He did a fantastic job cleaning my teeth, especially given how long it has been since the last cleaning. Highly recommend!!

Inside the unassuming storefront on Main Street is a beautiful dental suite and the best dental practice I’ve ever experienced. Dr. Girschek explains issues clearly and prices his services fairly. Fantastic experience: I had a cracked wisdom tooth. My regular dentist referred me to an oral surgeon, who said they could get me in for a consult in 6 weeks or so. I called Gentle Dental and they had me come in at 10am the very next day. Dr. Paredes and the rest of the staff made the extraction process calm and painless. I also have to give them points for total transparency about costs. I was out the door with no more cracked tooth in under 30 minutes. Highly recommended.

I just recently had my third root canal done and I can't say enough good things about our experiences. From the front desk staff who are able to get me in always for an emergency and work around my work schedule. He was extremely informative about my current health/teeth situation. Didn’t tell me what I already know - I should floss. The best cleaning I’ve had yet there, not that I ever had a bad one.

Fantastic experience: I went to Gentle Dental yesterday for a consultation for tooth extraction. I have severe anxiety when it comes to seeing the dentist. The dentist Mr Girschek was SO CALMING and PATIENT!!! He explained my options to me and made me feel so comfortable. If you have severe anxiety when it comes to going to the dentist, this is the place. Jenny the medical assistant was also amazing!! The people at the receptionist were also very kind. GREAT PLACE!! My appointment is booked and Im not freaking out...that is because of this place!!!
