Fantastic experience: Five stars says it all! Everything was exceptional

Fantastic experience: Dr. Balaney is an excellent dentist. He and his very capable assistant did a root canal and then installed a temporary crown and three weeks later a permanent crown on my tooth. Their work was meticulous, flawless and completely pain free. I highly recommend Wheaton Prairie Dental and their excellent staff and services.

Fantastic experience: When moving to a new state, it’s important to find a great network of doctors, this includes finding an awesome dentist! I google searched dentists near me with high ratings that is also within network of my insurance. Wheaton Prairie Dental meets all my needs and then some. Experienced, kind, knowledgeable staff have taken care of me through every step of the process. Reception is always amazing, Tracy is so warm when greeting, creating appointments, and being upfront with pricing as far as what insurance may not cover. I love the transparency because I have been to so many other offices that do not do this. Wheaton Prairie Dental also takes most major insurances; my husband is on a different plan and they take both of ours! Like most anywhere I’ve gone, it important to book out far in advance and keep the appointment. Today was my second cleaning with Alexis and third visit overall. She is excellent, thorough, and again, a world of knowledge when it comes to oral hygiene, preventative care, and honest feedback on future procedures. I came to them as a new patient stating a previous out of state dentist plus the periodontist specialist in my previous state of residency scheduled me to get a gum graft pretty urgently. Well, when I moved here to Illinois and asked them how to move forward with this, they both thought it would be entirely unnecessary. If I didn’t move to Illinois and switch dentists, I probably would have already paid almost $2,000 for a gum graft that they deemed pretty dramatic for my low level of gum recession and sensitivity levels. I am so thankful to them for their expert opinion and now I can avoid the uncomfortable procedure that could potentially not even make that large of a difference in my personal case. I had to also get my first ever filling done a few months back with Dr. Balaney and it was so fast and painless. He walked me through every step of the process to set me at ease. Everyone here in office takes exceptional care. I never feel rushed, experience discomfort, or get stuck with a surprise massive bill. Not to mention, the location is so convenient with a massive parking lot. I am very grateful to call Wheaton Prairie Dental my new home dentist! I very highly recommend.

Negative experience: Had been going here for ~5 years. All had been fine - but most recent appointment they called to inform they needed to reschedule due to both the doctor and hygienist being out for the day. Odd they scheduled it in the first place, but understand issues happen. The more frustrating part was how they handled their scheduling issue - I could either come in two separate times over the next few weeks (cleaning and exam separate), or come in 3 months from now. They didn't care in the least about finding a better option. Disappointing, but I found a new dentist with more updated facilities closer by and better flexibility for scheduling.

I needed a crown replacement and rather than settle for the first crown, which was not fitting to Dr Balaney’s high quality standards, I had to wait for the second crown. I’m so very happy with the results and was well worth the wait!! I kid Dr Balaney, him having a perfectionist personality is what you definitely want in a dentist. :-) And the entire team at Wheaton Prairie Dental are exemplary as well!!

Fantastic experience: I went here with the previous owner, and only had good experiences. Since Dr. Balaney has taken over it has maintained all the good things I appreciated before and more. I appreciate that they don't try to push extra products/procedures. The front office staff is efficient, responsive, and friendly. Parking is super easy. I had a crown replaced the other day and I'm very happy with how it went. I would recommend this office to anyone.

Negative experience: Went halfway through a crown replacement with stabbing pains before I was offered Novocain. Crown wasn't fitting properly so the tech needed to take multiple xrays to find some leftover cement but did not offer any PPE like the lead smock. He then took the crown out to remove the old cement but dropped the crown on the floor and left it for a few minutes while he went about doing other things. Once I was finally doped up they took more xrays but did offer the proper PPE the second time around and things finally got back on track but the experience was less than pleasing and took about twice as long as it should have for the work.

Fantastic experience: Kristyn from the front office is amazing and very helpful setting up my appointments and making sure my insurance was paying it’s part.From the Dentist that took care of my crown and my cavities with no pain and my cleaning that was done was the best i have had teeth never felt cleaner then when they cleaned them.

Negative experience: My wife had a dental exam and cleaning And they advised deep cleaning of the teeth. After the deep cleaning was completed over 3 visits, suddenly gaps in some of the front teeth appeared. And the gaps caused the teeth to look ugly. Not only gap, but teeth show some deformities. When we went back to show the dentist, and during discussion, the dentist started to justify such gaps can show up after the procedure. My response was that why was the patient not informed about such risks before the procedure? Critical information that we needed to know before the procedure was not given to us. And now the teeth look ugly. Instead of taking responsibility, the dental office is trying to skirt the matter. I had payed close to $1000 from my pocket and now the dental office has not yet resolved the issue. Id urge the office to take responsibility and take appropriate corrective action to resolve this issue.

Fantastic experience: Dr Balaney is THE BEST dentist I have come across; he is so kind and gentle, and made me feel so comfortable during my visit. He goes the extra mile to make his patients feel seen and heard! Thank you, Dr. Balaney! When I have kids, I already know who their dentist is going to be :)

Fantastic experience: This was my first visit at Wheaton Prairie Dental. My hygienist was so nice, really friendly and made me feel very comfortable. I really like Dr Balaney. He was really easy to talk to and took time to explain all my questions. I would highly recommend. I went back for my 2nd visit today and had two fillings repaired due to some additional decay. I continue to be impressed Dr Belaney is so nice and is a great communicator and kept me updated on what was going on.

Fantastic experience: We moved to Wheaton last year and started going to Wheaton Prairie Dental and we are very happy with them. It has since transitioned from Dr Colella to Dr Balaney. Always nervous when a practice changes dentist but Dr Balaney quickly put me at ease. He is gentle and has a warm personality. I’ve had work done already by Dr Balaney and it was smooth sailing. I’m impressed with him and the whole team. Great, friendly front staff! Shout out to Hygienist Angie! So personable and comforting. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Had my first appointment with Wheaton Prairie Dental. The experience was unlike any other dentist office visit I've ever had. Their staff and Dr. Colella went out of their way to explain every aspect and before and after each step asked if I had any questions. Their compassion and professionalize merged delivering a calming and healing environment. When checking out at reception, I was given a complete explanation of how my insurance paid for the visit. I was then given a printout showing exactly how my insurance worked and what benefits were still available for the year. Heard good things about their practice and am glad to report they are better than the best reviews.

Fantastic experience: My mother was pregnant with me when our family started seeing our dentist so when he retired, it was like loosing family. I am very particular about dental care. My husband and I have been seeing Dr. Colella and his staff for about 1.5 years (after COVID restraints lifted) and could not be happier!! The dental hygienist are gentle, but thorough and Dr. Colella is professional, but personable and takes his time with his exams. The office staff is friendly and professional. I am glad that we were able to find this team!

Fantastic experience: I was extremely impressed with how thorough they were from beginning to end. I was informed of what they were doing at every step of my visit. The entire experience was smooth, pleasant, and efficient.

Positive experience: Having three, adjacent upper front teeth worked on simultaneously is not pleasant. Crowns placed previously and a couple replaced over the last year was the cause. One falling off in late 2021 added the third and one had a temporary placed because the original did not survive being bitten down on after coming loose. Barely completed checking in before called into room. Began with multiple x-rays then work began. Temp removed before shaping of all. One required extra work because it was too short. Packing of gums for impression most trying part. Impressions of teeth and bite followed before another, one piece, temporary placed. Used entire allotted 2 hours. Was discouraged when appt for crowns placement had to be rescheduled. Original date had taken Jul 4 holiday into consideration but more time in lab was necessary. New appt is now almost 1 month from first appt.

Fantastic experience: It’s probably unusual to say that you had a great visit to your dentist, but Dr. Collella and his staff are always professional, personal, and provide great service. I went to a couple other dentists in the area before finding this practice, and I would not go to anyone else!
