Negative experience: After having a disagreement about services that I thought we had agreed on the office proceeded to tell me that I had not paid into the family plan and Dr Abernathy said that she looked at it and was in agreement. After going into my own personal records I got the evidence to prove that they were apparently gaslighting me at least that's what it felt like. She then proceeded to give me false information through her office manager in regard to x-ray information. Either two outright lies or just incompetence, don't feel like they are a business that you can trust.

Negative experience: Dr. Abernethy is talented dentist and her staff are always polite, competent, and professional. But unfortunately, there were too many negatives in her practice for me to continue as a patient. Charges for certain services, especially crowns, are high. Even with the discounts available through their In-House Membership Plan I found the prices unacceptably high. When I had a crown done at the end of last year, I was asked for half-payment at the first visit. This was certainly not a problem. However, before the second visit, I was asked through text messages to pay the entire balance prior to completion of the work. In my experience, it is not customary to make final payment until the work is complete, and I am simply not willing to do so. But then, without warning, I was notified by text message that my appointment had been canceled. I immediately called the office and was told that the appointment would be reinstated and it would be okay to pay upon completion of the work. To say that this practice is unacceptable would be a gross understatement, as far as I am concerned. Charging extra for the use of a credit card should be fully disclosed in advance, and, considering the relatively high prices of their services, I find this policy to be a significant negative. Finally, I am disturbed by Dr. Abernethy's belief that amalgam ("silver") fillings are dangerous. I do not believe this is at all supported by good science, and I personally want the option of amalgam fillings in situations where they may be the best solution for long-term durability.

A few weeks back I had my teeth cleaned. Hygienist was wonderful also. And Cheryl the receptionist is friendly and nice. Great Place

Fantastic experience: Excellent experience from check in to check out. The plan of care was thoroughly explained so I knew what to expect. My comfort was clearly a top priority. There were multiple wellness checks throughout the procedure and zero pain except for the numbing process, still not overly painful. There was a thorough debrief after the procedure and I was shown images of the successful outcome. Dr. Abernathy was wonderful, as were her competent and caring dental assistants. I highly recommend Dr. Abernathy for dental services. She took the anxiety out of the dental experience. The office was clean and modern. Highly professional customer service as well.

Negative experience: Trust the bad reviews. Came in for a cleaning and exam. I have full insurance. Ask them to verify insurance coverage for X-rays and I am told it is covered. Get a bill for about $350 for X-rays and part of the exam. I challenge the bill and am told they will call me back. 3 months later I get a text saying I owe the $350. I call again and I am told that the X-rays were not covered and I owe the money. Of course there is some checkbox or line in the paperwork up front that says you will pay for unknown expenses. They feel they have zero duty to verify for you if there will be out of pocket cost since you will just have to pay it since you agreed. In 40+ years of dental visits never have I had this issue. Top it off the person who saw me couldn’t identify what teeth she was looking at. She had to identify all my fillings and she came up with 2. Sadly have at least 10 over the years. Doctor has to take over and redo the entire initial part of the exam.

Negative experience: If I could give 0 stars I would. Stay away from this office and Dr Abernethy. All she cares about is money. I was made to pay thousands of dollars up front for a crown - something my new and wonderful dentist had never heard of - and then asked for more money when it finally came time to do the crown. Apparently they used the pool of money for other work without ever telling or asking me. I did not complete the crown work with Dr Abernethy. I left and found a new dentist and then had to fight for months to get the remaining balance refunded. There were a million & one reasons why they felt they were entitled to keep the money even though they didn't do the work. Fast forward almost a year and I received a bill for $1300. For what??? I have not been a patient for a very long time. There are many wonderful dentists out there. This however is NOT one of them.

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience at Diamond Hill Dental this past fall. I had multiple old metal fillings removed and replaced, and the entire process was efficient and well-organized. The staff was very attentive to my comfort throughout the procedure, which I really appreciated. Everything turned out great—my teeth feel good and look good. I also got a new retainer, and that process was smooth as well. Overall, it was a really positive experience from start to finish, and I would definitely recommend this dentist to others.

Negative experience: I came to Diamond Hill Dental on 4/10 for a routine cleaning and X-rays of my teeth. During this cleaning Dr. Abernathy diagnosed me with a chipped amalgam filling of tooth 14, and a cavity on tooth 18. When the office showed me their proposed treatment plan before my insurance kicked in, the total came out to $1419. Out of this amount I found out that the office wanted to charge me $484 to remove the amalgam from tooth 14 and tooth 18 using a method they follow called "SMART", even though I only had one amalgam filling in tooth 14. I was also informed this "SMART" method was not covered by any insurance and would have to be out of pocket. Upon doing research, I discovered that this "SMART" method to remove amalgam fillings is a method acknowledged by the American Dental Association but not required. Instead, this method is recommended by a group of doctors in Florida with claims that this method is safer despite limited research and peer review. This method is adopted by certain dental offices so that they can charge absurd amounts of money to make a profit. I felt hesitant continuing treatment here, so I decided to get a second opinion with another dental office. This is where I learned that not only did Dr. Abernathy misdiagnose the cavity on tooth 18, but their "SMART" method and fees are something some dental offices practice in hopes of charging patients additional fees for profit. After a quick examination, not only did they not find a cavity on tooth 18, but the new dental office also proposed a treatment plan to fix the broken filling on tooth 14 for a total cost of $329 before insurance in comparison to Diamond Hill Dental's $550 fee. Not only does Diamond Hill Dental and Dr. Abernathy use deceptive and misleading ways to upcharge their patients for dental work, but they also misdiagnose you with cavities despite not having any in hopes of also charging both you and your insurance. If you read some of the reviews from this office, other patients have also complained about this dental office regarding their expensive fees and even had clients stating "Dr. Abernethy is the car salesperson of dentistry. She scared me into thinking I needed 9+ fillings during my first visit", "They also tried to overcharge me for standard fillings by neglecting to admit to insurance payments already made to them. Fees for a single filling were $550 (D2394). Best to try another practice elsewhere..." If you need any dental work done, I would stay far away from Diamond Hill Dental and Dr. Abernathy. I will also be filing a complaint with the Rhode Island Dental Association in reference to her misdiagnoses. It is extremely disappointing that Dr. Abernathy's practices are more aligned with her own profits rather than helping her own patients.

Fantastic experience: I recently went to Diamond Hill Dental and I must say the office was impeccable. Also the staff were absolutely excellent. I had no wait time the office nice clean. Also the dental assistant did a wonderful job on my teeth & the dentist explained everything in detail for my treatment. I would recommend Diamond Hill Dental to all my friends and family.

Negative experience: While they were polite on the phone, their website claims they provide emergency services, but they couldn't get me in for 2 days. From their website ”Same-day appointments available for emergency patients.Team of 3 highly trained & experienced dentists.” I was told there was "no doctor there today." Very disappointed. Wanted to go to someone local, not one of the franchises like Aspen.

Negative experience: They are NOT in business to serve customers. Literally walked in saying I have an emergency and need a dentist to prescribe me antibiotics for the swelling, but was turned away. If I could have just walked into a CVS and ask for the antibiotics, I would have not needed to see a dentist. Ps- I was referred to them by someone for their excellent service. Excellent service in turning away customers who are in need of help. Congratulations, you lost a customer and I’ll make sure everyone I know knows to stay away!

Negative experience: I tried to be a new patient but no luck! First I called the receptionist and she said the 'new patient intake person' would call me back shortly. After 1 week I called again and stated, politely, "no one had called yet". The receptionist said the person was backed up, but would call back that day. That was 4 days ago. Now I'm looking for someone else. VERY disappointed!!

Negative experience: I have been going to this dentist for years. I feel that they have started charging way too much money. I paid out $900 plus insurance for a crown and then received another $453.00 bill. This is just way too much $$$. I will be looking for a new dentist.

Fantastic experience: I absolutely hate going to the dentist. I've been reluctant to find a new dentist. However today I was extremely surprised. This was my first time going to Diamond Hill Dental. The office was so quaint. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. Then I met Katie. She was amazing. She immediately put me at ease. She didn't minimize my anxiety and offered suggestions to help me. She has such a calming effect. The I met I think his name was Dr. Aniconi. He also has a calming effect. He explained everything as he went along and made sure I understood. The staff and the whole process, although I still have anxiety going to the dentist, made me feel very comfortable and will definitely be a patient of theirs for the near future. I want to thank the staff. Great job!

Fantastic experience: Dr Abernethy is a master dentist. I traumatically lost one of my front teeth! Dr Abernethy recommended Dr E Joseph Domingo to do the implant and everything went perfectly. While waiting for it to heal, Dr Abernethy fitted me with a retainer with a tooth! It looked so real! I just finished getting the restoration and the results are perfect. The color and shape of the tooth are perfect; and my bite is great. I am a voice teacher and my students look at my mouth all day and this tooth looks like it's the real McCoy! Thank you Dr Abernethy!

Positive experience: I really liked this office, but as of 8/26/2022 they stopped taking blue cross blue shield because they don’t make enough money as an in network provider. I found out via letter, after my insurance was already considered “out of network”. A bit inconvenient, and inconsiderate, to be told after the fact. Guess I’m looking elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: Dear DHD team, my first visit as a new patient was very pleasing and impressive. The fancy tech, polite and talented dental professionals helped me get my oral hygiene back in form in no time. I was assisted by front desk person Maddy and Hygienist Katty for my very first appointment. Katty did a seamless cleaning procedure and very tidy job. I would go back to Katty any day to get my cleaning done. Dr A came by to discuss my future procedures and did a very thorough briefing on every aspect she wanted to discuss. Negative experience: Barely I give one star , I was diagnosed and set for an appointment after 3 weeks ,and the week before the appointment they called requesting for 50% of the payment upfront ! really is this a health provider or a merchandise outlet ? when I refused to make the deposit because my diagnose was not final they said ok will keep the appointment . However , on the same day of the appointment they called and cancelled the appointment !!!! 2 days later they sent me a formal letter saying that the trust was broken between us and we have to end our relation !!! Really ? is this a health provider attitude , I am shoked that a Dr.Saba personally talked to me about this and said this is our policy ! what policy!and when did I agree to your policy , is this professional and align with your medical school ethicks and morals . I am gratefull this incidient happened as I dont want to be treated in a place looks at the patients as costumers and money rather than human and feelings.

Fantastic experience: I was super hesitant to return to a dentist after a very bad previous experience at an old office. The staff scheduled me in (same day as a new client!) when I was having some issues. Every staff person- from the women at the desk to those treating patients- was polite, kind, and completely calmed my nerves about the appointment and procedures. They're super in tune about patient needs and comfort, and explained everything as it was being done, helping me with my anxiety.

Fantastic experience: So today was the first day that I went back to the dentist since the outbreak.Although I was a little apprehensive at first,before I arrvived I was sent a text message on there protocol on what to expect.They have taken all the steps for the patients safety along with there own before your even examined.Once Dr Abernethy entered the room she throughly explained all the equipment that is there to keep everyone safe.Everything else remains the same the professionalism,they treat everyone like your the only patient thats at the office that day.My visit today was a great experience.Thank you Diamond Hill Dental once again.

Negative experience: Dr. Abernethy is the car salesperson of dentistry. She scared me into thinking I needed 9+ fillings during my first visit after Dr. Rogol sold his practice to her. Skeptical and unconvinced, because I hadn't had a cavity in years and no warnings during any of my prior 6 month visits, I got a second opinion. Without prompting the second dentist as to why I was visiting, he placed 2 teeth on watch, and told me both my teeth and gums were in excellent condition. We laughed about the situation with Dr. Abernethy. He asked if she was young. With my answer being "yes," he figured she just had to pay off debt. She knows what she's doing—both on the dentistry AND business side. Just be smart about your visits with her, especially if your track record has been clean to date.

Negative experience: Horrible service. I have the text messages showing their hygienists being unable to make the appt on Monday’s june 17th so they needed to reschedule. Those messages are time stamped at 10:17am. I was told the appt needed to be rescheduled and no option. I called the same day the following week and was told I was being a same day cancelation of $50 for having to cancel. When stating the same thing happened the week prior I was told that is different circumstances and not a policy violation. When being upset about the situation and saying there is no chance I am paying that fee since the same thing happened to me I was told by Rosa that I needed to watch how I spoke to her and that she could send my x rays anywhere else. I am cancelling all six patients, horrendous service. I have the time stamped messages and would post if i could

The dentist and dental assistants are always efficient yet thorough, and get me in and out and on with my day with no frustration. Fantastic experience: A great place with great people. I had a chipped tooth and called and left a message on Saturday, they got back to me Monday morning and I had an appointment scheduled for that afternoon. They fixed my tooth, fixed some old work I had had done on another tooth, and did a cleaning; they stayed longer to make sure I got all of the services I needed done in one apppintment. FANTASTIC! Recommend to anyone and will be coming back in 6 months!
