Negative experience: When I went to this appointment Dr Sach told me I had 12 cavities that would need to be filled ASAP. He wasn’t very personable and essentially told me it would be extremely rude of me to cancel or even reschedule my next visit with them to get all these cavities filled since he was doing me such a service helping me out with all these dental problems I “had”. I thought getting a 2nd opinion would be a good idea since none of my teeth were hurting and I had just had a checkup with a different dentist 6 months ago with no mention of these 12 cavities. Upon getting a 2nd opinion elsewhere (where I mentioned nothing of my visit with Dr Sachs) I was told I have 0 cavities. I will not be coming back here, makes me nervous to think that he is recommending drilling into my teeth that are actually fine just to get more money out of the visit. Other reviews at this place also seem to imply that he recommends much more work than actually needs to be done. If you go here and get a recommendation to get a lot of work done I would at the very least recommend getting a second opinion somewhere else before coming back. Fantastic experience: I absolutely love Sach’s Family Dental. From the time I check in, I am treated like I’m the only person in the dentist office. Dr Sach’s bedside manner is Incredible, considering none of us like to go to the dentist! One of the main reasons I go as well as he stands behind his work, his dental assistants are amazing, And everyone has been accommodating if something came up in my schedule and I had to change the appointment. The pricing is excellent and that’s another reason I drive from Salt Lake to have my teeth worked on. This is a dentist you want to keep long-term! This was my first time with laughing gas. And there was nothing funny about it. I don’t think I’ve been that relaxed since before I had a colonoscopy!

Fantastic experience: Very happy with these guys the woman that cleaned my teeth during my first visit did a great job at being gentle since she knew I was a bit sensitive. I went in for my procedure for my second appointment and the dentist was very thorough as it was a difficult procedure. Since it was a pretty major procedure they gave me two painkillers one for that night after and one for the next morning I did use the one that night but I did not need it the next morning I just had very minor pain. Thank you so much for taking care of my teeth.

Negative experience: I came to Dr. Sachs with, apparently, a growing cyst over my front tooth. He did a root canal there and another for a back tooth. He filled in my front tooth without any internal whitening and without consulting me because it wasn’t covered by my insurance. I would’ve made it work somehow had I known. Since then, I’ve had any root canals redone by a specialist because of the pain. When I was in the office last Dr. Sachs came in quickly without greeting with another X-ray of what was going on with my teeth and then went next door to the next patient happier than ever to see him. This was all back in 2021, but I was just at my sister’s wedding and reminded how much I hate my smile and the discoloration there that will still be thousands to fix that I had to come back and write this review.

Fantastic experience: Friendly Staff that worked me in when a leaking crown started bothering me. I had them replace the crown. The new one fit perfectly. No need to make adjustments. They took my insurance information and handled the paperwork. I couldn't be happier. I recommend them to anyone needing dental work. 5 Star Rating!

Negative experience: I walk-in for a cleaning, Mr. Sachs' (don't care if he has a outdated piece of paper that calls him a dentist) then decides to do an exam on me, and after 10 seconds of looking into my mouth he says he thinks I have this gums disease, and then 5 minutes of him probing into my mouth, he says that I have periodontal gum disease and that a normal cleaning won't help at all and could make my gums worse than better and I need a "special" cleaning... well, I just had extensive work done on my teeth by a specialized dentist that is a family friend out of state literally a week prior to this "cleaning" I scheduled. I talked to my friend about this while there and he said EVERYONE has periodontal to some extent and that a normal cleaning would be the ONLY thing necessary for my case after they had done the work they performed because I am FAR from it being any concern to me. They had done multiple x-rays on me, including 3-D x-rays, and after I had this experience, I called them and they confirmed for me that this dentist is conniving. Only reason I came here was cause my family friend wasn't able to do a cleaning while I was there. After explaining this he then tried to say that my family friend's work wouldn't be effective and that my teeth are destined to fall out. With that, I got up out of his chair and proceeded to walk out of his office. While walking out he then groveled and followed me out to the lobby and said he'd be willing to have his hygienist work on me. I have never had a medical/dental professional be this blatantly be a con. I do not recommend Mr. Sachs. You are a paycheck to him. There are multiple reviews as well that confirm this. Don't trust him.

Positive experience: I got a new crown from here and it is so tightly touching my other tooth that every time I floss there it cuts floss and or jolts down to my gums. My gums seem to have receded more on that tooth as well. Update: they fixed the gap when I met with them again.

Negative experience: 10 years later, all 3 root canals done by Dr Sach’s have all gotten infected and needed to be pulled. I’d go in for a cleaning and would walk out being told I had a “really intense infection” that required a root canal. That happened 3 different times. I went back to Dr. Sach’s to fix the first root canal that he had done, since it had an infection. He told me it must be my genetics for poor oral health. Neither are accurate. I’m now down several thousand dollars correcting the problems stemming from Dr. Sach’s poor execution. If a dentist recommends a root canal, go to a specialist or at least get a second opinion. Don’t rely on a dentist to tell you they can fix the problem if they don’t specialize in it- especially when you’re paying them thousands of dollars for treatment. The photos are from last week. It was my latest retreat of a Dr. Sach’s root canal. First picture shows the 3 roots that were done by Dr. Sach’s. The second picture shows that the tooth actually had 4 roots, but he missed one.

Fantastic experience: I've been going to Dr. Sachs since I've lived in Orem. I've moved around the country quite a bit and have had many dentists. First, his front desk receptionist is very helpful and friendly. She was able to get me in quickly. His assistant was also very friendly, and my cleaning didn't hurt at all. Because of this, I referred them to my adult daughter. She doesn't like to go to the dentist. She has stomach issues that break down the enamel of her teeth. We weren't aware of this when she was young. She had always been told she didn't care properly for her teeth, and she felt her efforts weren't adequate. At Dr. Sachs office, she said she didn't feel overly judged or lectured about her dental hygiene being responsible, like in the past. She had a great experience and went on to schedule a couple of much-needed fillings. As for my appointment, I noticed Dr. Sachs is very particular and careful with his work. He took extra time to make sure my "bite" was perfect. I was also fitted for a night guard. He spent a lot of time making sure it fit well. He asked me to come back if, at any time, it felt uncomfortable. It fit perfectly, but I didn't like it and called. I was surprised they were able to see me very quickly! Dr. Sachs listened to my concerns and gave me the answers I needed: I still need to wear my night guard.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely loved coming to Sachs Family Dental! I’ve been to a number of different dentists over the years and have never been so impressed. They explained everything in such detail and the vibe of the place was outstanding. Will definitely be coming back!

Negative experience: Just did a cleaning and everything was very well explained and taken care of. UPDATE: They are totally review fishing. They prescribed me expensive toothpaste and told me that if I left a review they would give it to me for free. I think most of the reviews are here for the same reason. My real review is don’t come here. They told me I had 12 cavities and needed a root canal (more than $2000 worth of dental work on the first visit) and so I went to 2 other dentists to double check and neither of them could find 9 of the 12 cavities. The other dentists said I definitely didn’t need a root canal so I didn’t get it and it’s been 6 months and they were definitely right. I could never trust them after this type of experience.

Fantastic experience: I 10/10 recommend this office! The staff is super nice and super informative, they answer all my questions and even well educate me on where my cavities are, why they happen and the best ways to prevent them from growing! Dr. Sachs is very thorough and honest. He also has a great sense of humor! The biggest positive is his treatment is painless he will make sure that you don’t feel anything before working on you and makes you feel very comfortable in the chair. So if your looking for an honest dentist who will even tell you about the smallest cavities and how to prevent them from growing I 100% recommend Sachs family dental!!!

Negative experience: I never leave reviews, but I think it’s necessary people know what this place is doing. I went in for a cleaning and was told I had two cavities, needed three root canals, and that I had an infection in my tooth. This all came as a shock, because I take care of my teeth and I have had zero pain or sensitivity. I went for second opinion and none of those things were true. I get the creeps thinking about this place and the fact they wanted to do all this work on my mouth when there’s nothing actually wrong. In a nut shell, BEWARE.

Negative experience: The receptionist and dental assistant were fantastic— they did a great cleaning and were very kind. I couldn’t tell if Dr. Sachs was just rude or terrible with people. First thing he says to me is, “How old are you? Like 12?” * I was 26 at the time.* And then he goes on to tell me that I have 10+ issues with my teeth and “What did you do to your teeth?” I have never walked out of an office feeling so degraded. I ended up getting a second opinion and only had one cavity. I wouldn’t recommend.

Negative experience: Don't go here. Sachs recommended a root canal, to remove my previous filling because it was damaging my tooth, and told me I had bad gum disease. I got a second opinion because it seemed shady and they said none of that was true, I just have cavities that should be filled. They also refused to clean my teeth because it was "unsafe" which doesn't make any sense and refuses to give me the gift card they promised in the mail because I needed to do the cleaning to get it, which would be scheduled next visit when I got work done. I'm glad I got a second opinion and didn't continue to see Sachs.

Fantastic experience: Wife and I love this place. The staff is fantastic and their dental insurance program is superior to most others I've used. The hygienists are great and friendly as are the dental assistants. Dr. Sachs is fantastic and very helpful. If it weren't for some desperate financial situation that my wife and I were in, we'd still be going there.

Negative experience: I did not have a great experience at Sachs family dental. I was looking for a new dentist closer to home and went here. The two appointments I had here both were very long, 2 and 3 hours respectively, and Dr Sachs scheduled me for a crown and root canal. I didn’t feel good about that and got a second opinion and was told I did not need either, but just a filling. The hygienists were awesome at Sachs dental but I am very glad I got a second opinion. I don’t usually write reviews but I wouldn’t wish my experience on someone else.

Negative experience: My first experience with Sachs was this fall, I went in as a new patient and they said I had 6 cavities and may need a root canal on one tooth. I was shocked because I've had no tooth pain or any indication of needing a root canal, and I'm young and take decent care of my teeth. I hadn't been to a dentist in a while though (I've lived overseas for 2 years) so I thought maybe it was possible. They started by doing a filling on the one tooth they thought would need a root canal, then after quite a few local anesthetics, there was still a little bit of pain when they tried to fill. Right away when I barely flinched because of the pain, Dr. Sachs stopped and said I needed a root canal on that tooth because (his explanation) it seemed the cavity was close to the nerve. He put me on antibiotics and set appointments for my root canal. Again, still no tooth pain at this point. I went to get a second opinion to be sure. The second dentist I went to said I do need the same teeth filled (that Dr. Sachs identified) for cavities, but he sees no indication of needing a root canal. He said that is his last resort, you'll typically have tooth pain and/or an abcess, and the cavity I have isn't close to the nerve at all - it's a normal size cavity. He said that sometimes the local anesthetic needs to be administered to different areas (because of the location of nerves) and some people are more sensitive (my mom has had this experience) when getting fillings. Again, a root canal is his last resort and didn't see any indication of me needing one. Let me just say, Dr. Sachs wasn't unkind - the staff are nice, the office is clean, and they communicate well. I got a $50 amazon gift card as a first time customer. BUT...I was bothered by how quickly he diagnosed and said I needed a root canal. He didn't stop to ask about my pain when doing the filling, he just jumped straight to saying a root canal was needed. A root canal is a long (for me!) and expensive procedure. I'm so glad I got a second opinion. Edit - a few months later…I got all my fillings with a different dentist and let me just say, I had no pain or issues with the one tooth on the anesthetic they used with this other dentist. The same tooth that Dr. Sachs said I needed a root canal on and that they kept having to numb needed only 2 doses of the numbing at this other dentist - and my entire left side of my cheek felt numb! So maybe Dr.Sach’s anesthetic isn’t strong enough? Just wanted to add that update because I’ve been fine and it felt like a normal filling at the other dentist-I’m so glad I got a second opinion!

Fantastic experience: EDIT: I've been going to Sachs Family Dental for about three years now, and they've been great. Dr. Sachs is trustworthy and hasn't pushed me into getting unnecessary work done. When I got a root canal, I showed the quote to my uncle who's a dentist, and he confirmed that the price was very good and the materials and procedures were high quality. ORIGINAL (2019): Overall a good experience! The staff was friendly, and Jessica was great at keeping the conversation going in a natural manner. Dr. Sachs was quick, but I could tell that he was paying attention to the detail of my previous fillings and knew what he was talking about. He definitely didn't seem overly-liberal with this recommendations for work I should have done, which makes me trust him more than other dentists I've gone to.

Negative experience: I had a cracked filling in my back tooth. There was some gunk in between the crack. I was seen by the dental hygienist/ assistant and she was great. I felt like she asked questions about my cracked tooth and listened. She told me the Dr might want to take more photos to take a closer look at my cracked tooth. The Dr. came in and after reviewing my photos concluded that I needed an immediate root canal. He recommended I schedule to come back hat same week if was I able. He also said I had "several" cavities to fill. I was surprised by this diagnosis and felt pressure to get the work done soon. My brother is a dentist out of state, so I sent him the x-rays and he referred me to his dentist buddy in Utah so I can get a second opinion. I went to his friend's office and after a thorough assessment (they took SO many x-rays and photos at different angles), this dentist told me he saw zero cavities, and I definitely didn't need a root canal. He told me my teeth look very healthy. Would I recommend Sachs dental office? No way. Either they are intentionally dishonest in their diagnosis, or they are just careless with their patients. Who gives a root canal that isn't needed? Who fills cavities that don't exist? I also want to note at the time of the visit, I was pregnant (2nd trimester) and my insurance was medicaid. Medicaid only offers dental coverage for adults who are pregnant. So I don't know if that played a part in his motives- knowing I had medicaid, and diagnosing me for ALL that work that wasn't necessary. Either way, medicaid or not, insured or not, that is dishonest and low. *EDIT: 9/22/2022 I'm writing this edit to respond to Sachs Family Dental's reply to my original review. No, I did not get the wrong office. It was indeed Sachs Family Dental. If I am going to leave a lengthy detailed review, its going to be for the correct office. I was seen on April 22, 2022. This review is posted under my email that I created in college, which is why my review is posted under my maiden name. I have x-rays from your office email and I have the treatment plan I was given. At this point I don't see why contacting your office would be necessary. This was my experience with your office, and I feel like it needed to be shared.

Fantastic experience: First time coming and they were all so friendly and professional. I am glad I found them and will for sure continue to come here for my dental needs.

Fantastic experience: I love Sachs family dental! I feel like they always have my best interest in mind and only recommend what is really best for my teeth. They are always so friendly and provide a great experience.

Negative experience: Don’t go to Steven Sach’s dentistry. He came up with about 10 cavities when I saw him. Went to get other opinions and no one saw most of the ones he came up with.

Fantastic experience: I feel right at home here! Very friendly and personable staff who do a great job explaining all problems, and showing you what they are seeing. Definitely recommend!

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience my first time going to Sachs Family Dental. They were so friendly, inviting, explained everything so well. Very clean office. They don’t waste your time and get things done in a great timely manner. The hygienist I had was so nice and so easy to talk to. Overall my expertise was phenomenal and I can’t wait to come back!

Fantastic experience: The administrative assistants make scheduling a pleasure. They utilize automatic text reminders, and follow up with personal contacts. The staff had always listened and answered my questions about billing and insurance. They explain the billing process instead of giving short answers to my questions. The dental professionals are efficient, thorough, and we're willing to help our family prioritize which dental issue we needed to attend to immediately and which ones we could budgeted in later. On a side note, during a time when I am more aware of microbiology, I was grateful for their proper use of gloves, and their careful attention to sanitation practices.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Sachs did a great job. Jessica was the hygienist and was very personable and did a great job at taking care of my teeth.

Fantastic experience: Friendly staff and clean office. Dr. Sachs was great. He didn’t pressure me to get any work done I didn’t want. He showed me everything he was explaining.

Negative experience: I have had nearly perfect teeth my whole life. I've seen similar complaints against him and am convinced he is selective with who he victimizes. In my case I was a poor student with a Care Credit card and pride myself on paying off debt. Root canal after root canal happened. I didn't really question it until it just kept happening despite using the most expensive toothbrush and $15 tubes of prescription toothpaste. After being told I needed a 5th root canal from Dr. Sachs I called him on it, respectfully but very frustrated. He was speechless and red as a beet and inspired anything but confidence. I'm convinced the x-rays of a root canals he showed me did not even belong to my teeth. I was obviously way too trusting to allow the charade to continue as long as it did. With my new dentist I continue to have not so much as a cavity at every cleaning. Beware.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Sachs is a exceptional Dr. in Dentistry. He knows what he is doing & Loves his job. I’ve had a whole mouthful of work for him & he has done a great job. Dr. Sachs has good bedside manners & the staff is so nice & friendly. The office Is very clean as well. I recommend this Dental office.

Fantastic experience: My dad hadn't gone to the dentist for years, so he ended up needing 3 root canals to repair the damage. He was pretty nervous, but they numbed him up super well and made him feel comfortable throughout the whole procedure. Everyone was so nice and helpful!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Sachs and his staff did an excellent job today cleaning my teeth and explaining my treatment plan. He made sure nothing was hurting my teeth throughout the whole process.

Fantastic experience: My husband & I have been coming to Sach’s Family Dental for a few years now. Not only is Dr. Sach’s great at what he does, his staff is also very knowledgeable & easy to work with. We live in south Orem & have tried other dental offices closer to us... but we’d rather drive all the way across town just to see Dr. Sach’s & his staff because they’re that great!
