Frandsen Dental of Orem

Negative experience: I used to go to this dentist and every single cleaning they would tell me that I had 3-6 new cavities. I should have gotten second opinions and left sooner but I was really young and naive and just took it even though I grew more and more suspicious with each visit. Not only have I given them thousands of dollars for dental work that probably wasn't even necessary, but after getting dental work done there, I've also been left with very sensitive teeth that still give me issues to this day even though before going here, I never had sensitive teeth. The real kicker is that eventually by the umpteenth time they told me I had 6 new cavities, I simply didn't have the money to be scammed anymore so I stopped going. Fast forward a few months later, I contacted a friend who was in dental school for a cheap checkup and when I showed up, the same doctor at Frandsen Dental (Dr. Rich) was at this other clinic as a part time doctor or something there. I did all the x-rays and whatever the usual is for a checkup and not once did he mention these "six cavities" I had that he mentioned at his main clinic (Frandsen Dental) and I think it's because he couldn't try and scam me in front of my friend who helped with the checkup and this clinic she was working at wouldn't have been okay with that either. So bottom line is that they really aren't trustworthy. None of the people who work there ever seem very honest and the receptionist people are always just quoting thousands of dollars, it's ridiculous. I'm just so mad at myself for not following my instincts sooner and finding a new dentist.

Fantastic experience: I recently visited Frandsen for the first time for my six-month checkup, and I had a great experience. They were very thorough in examining my teeth and gums, and I appreciated the care and attention they gave throughout the appointment. They clearly explained what was looking healthy and pointed out a few things to keep an eye on in the future. Overall, I felt well cared for and would definitely recommend them.

Negative experience: Beware that this place overcharges for even the simplest quickest things. Our insurance plan covers 100% for preventive care but they still charged $84 for simple cleaning. The cleaning wasn't even good. There are other better dental clinics around orem that don't charge so much and do a better job.

Fantastic experience: Of all the dentists that I have had work done with, Dr. Frandsen is my favorite. I get it, it's dental work, which is usually dreaded, but after my first visit the dental dread dissapeared. Dr. Frandsen has gone above and beyond in my opinion several times giving me great results with his work. 10/10 for the whole office.

Negative experience: I came for my appointment 9am, and the door was locked. I called them , messaged them, nobody answered. They even sent me the reminder for an appointment a day before, and the day of, so I am very confused and disappointed. I got there 20 minutes before because they told me to, i waited 40 minutes in parking past my appointment time hoping that they will open but didn’t happen:(

Negative experience: My favorite part about seeing Frandsen Dental was the $800 dollar bill I received in the mail for services I didn’t consent to. When my husband called, the lady in the billing department almost immediately folded and admitted that they charge every new patient for a full set of x-rays because “most insurance plans cover them”… but you’re caught red handed by the ones that don’t. People have been calling you out on your fraudulent behavior for the last 6 years on Google and we will be reporting you for insurance fraud! Oh, and the 800 dollar “cleaning” wasn’t even good.

Fantastic experience: They were absolutely amazing and so sweet. Had 4 teeth pulled and a new temporary put in. Dr. Peckham was so gentle and I had no pain at all. The whole staff is wonderful and caring.

Fantastic experience: I have no words. The service its just amazing at this dental office. When I say the service I mean everything from my dental care to the front desk. The way they treat you and the help they provide. It feels so individualized. They don't treat you like one more client and it really feel good.

Fantastic experience: Very friendly and informative dentist and staff members. They made me feel comfortable and explained the procedures and the financials clearly.

Negative experience: Terrible. Had an appointment and canceled more than 72 hours in advance and they still charged a no show fee. When we received the bill in the mail we called them to let them know we were mistakenly charged and they denied us because we didn’t have proof -as if we’re supposed to know they would swindle us because of their error. Frandsen Dental is a very low integrity dental practice.

Fantastic experience: I called because I had a tooth ache for 3 days and they were able to get me in right away and exam me and let me know the problem and referred me to an Endodontist for a root canal. Great staff!

Fantastic experience: I've been going here for about 5 years now and have always had great experiences! I usually have my kids with me and they are always super helpful with them. Kassidy did my cleaning today and was super nice and gave me information about the issue I was having with one of my teeth. Dr. Geigle was super nice and did another procedure after my cleaning that I was going to have done the following week but that saved me time to get it done at the same time. Everything always goes very smoothly and the receptionists are always helpful with giving pricing and scheduling. I highly recommend their office!

Negative experience: When I went to Frandsen I told them I had osteoporosis and needed teeth pulled and new dentures before starting Prolia. I told the Dr. Rich I couldn’t do implants because I couldn’t have the bone disturbed any more than necessary. I had to go back 3 times to have sharp pieces removed from my gums. Not to mention the 6-8 I removed. I didn’t find out about BONE REMOVAL until I got the insurance denial letter. I’m 2 months out and now have jaw pain, sharp pieces on my bone line and still cannot wear the dentures they made. I’m treated great by the assistants, the dr acts as if I’m wasting his time and the new front end staff are just plain rude. I am now a year out. I’ve had to return to the office multiple times to get adjustments to my dentures, which I still can’t wear. I’ve told him multiple time that they are too big. He grinds them down and then puts the reliner goop in, that one makes me sick and two makes them the same size again. But now I’m stuck with teeth I cannot wear for 5 years. I’ve had them looked at by other dentists, which all tell me they’re too big for my mouth, so why doesn’t Dr. Rich get it?

Fantastic experience: Frandsen dental was great! The staff were kind, courteous, and very cheerful. Every procedure was explained simply so to be completely understandable. The cleaning was quick, gentle, and painless. I feel like they have some more up to date equipment than my previous experiences which makes procedures easier. I will definitely recommend this office to my friends and family.

Negative experience: I ended up in the hospital with a severe infection that damaged my kidneys. Their in training dental assistant needs to learn to wash hands and wear gloves. Her giggling and saying oops and running off to put on gloves after shoving her dirty fingers in my mouth did not stop me from getting an infection. The people in this place are horrible communicators and massive liars. Not only did they rush every thing they did not tell me they were going to take two of my front teeth. I was shocked and devastated when they did. They promised the replacements would be exactly like my original teeth because they took molds. Turns out they didn’t. The teeth they got back didn’t even fit in my mouth. I waited over 30 minutes while they frantically tried to shave them down to the right size. They tried several times and they did not fit. Now I have large bulky and extremely uncomfortable replacement teeth that I’ve spent hundreds at other dentists to get them sized down. It also left my jaw in even. I have been in agonizing pain for the last two years since I’ve gotten this done. I’m still devastated and depressed about how my teeth no longer fit in my mouth and cause agonizing constant pain for a procedure I did not consent to.

Negative experience: Charged me $100 despite me being 100% covered and in network. Completely unprofessional billing staff.

Positive experience: The hygienist wanted to make small talk. Let's just say I prefer that Ukraine drives Russia out. Glory to Ukraine!

Negative experience: There was super friendly and polite but unfortunately does not accept a Medicaid for us poor people who can afford real good dental insurance.

Negative experience: They said it was a check appointment and then we could discuss the price. But they did the work and at the end we have to pay for everything but we didn’t agree about the job.

Fantastic experience: I've been going to Dr. Rich and his crew for about 10 years now. They are great! Always fun to chat with them. They are friendly, knowledgeable, and it's a relaxing environment.

Negative experience: I have PTSD from dentist work. But then once I questioned why I as being charged $3400 and asked them to give me a outline of what I was being charged with. They would not give it to me. They ended up trying to explain it to me over the phone instead of paper documents. Do not let them bully you into signing a loan until you find out what they are charging you. They will rob you blind! I have repeatedly asked for my money back they kept telling me they would call me that same day. They never did. I asked for a manager to speak with they kept saying they could handle it and would call me back. Never have I had to fight for any money like this back. They refuse to give my money back to me. I told them If I don't get my money back then I will end up taking this to the BBB. Again don't let them bully you to get a loan or get a credit care card. Until you know what they are charging you for.

Negative experience: Dr Rich and some of his staff don't know what they are doing. Took my 6yr old for a cleaning an it was found she has cavities. An appointment was schedule for those cavities to be taken care of but, despite what I told him, his hygienist, his secretaries about my daughter being very scare about dentist office they only gave me prescription for some pills for her to take and get the job done, well... stupid pills did not work, I did not want my kid to go through any trauma in regards this matter and there she was crying and being hurt by the injections in her mouth. Dr rich just told me that my 6yr old was ok getting the work done, a 6yr old deciding for herself. He just denied taking care of her after being under drugs and mouth all numb up. He just walked out go the room and left me and my kid without apologizing about the issue he cause when I initially said my kid needs special attention because she gets scare. Do not go there. He is not a good Dr.

Fantastic experience: everyone at the office is incredibly kind and respectful! they all take me, my identity, and my problems seriously. they take the time to explain procedures and make sure i understand them, as well as confirming my consent to each one.

Fantastic experience: I’m in my 60s and Dr. Rich and his assistant were most kind to me I had three teeth that needed be pulled. One had been broken for 10 years. A molar that had a chronic infection. Another molar that had decayed around the base is the crown so badly you could put your thumbnail under it. Challenging procedure… he did it like a champ without breaking a sweat and was kind and gently persuaded the teeth out. Then afterwards, answered ALL my questions (and I had a lot of them) with patience and a smile. Thank you!!

Negative experience: I overpaid my bill Months ago and now its taking 2 months to even get a response all they keep saying is its in the works. Management is looking at it and nothing is getting done these guys are Crooks. I have called once a week for the last month and nothing is getting done how long can it take to See that i over paid and send my money back!! this is the worst CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER HAD..... Update**** today is 1/12/2024 and i still haven't received my refund what do we need to do to get this taken care of???

Negative experience: Absolute SCAM. Would leave zero stars. My insurance was charged over $800 for a new patient consult. Had no work done, just imaging. Was quoted over $1,300 for a root canal and "deep cleaning" spread over 4+ appointments. This office is a scam. I got a second opinion for my needed "root canal" and was quoted $97 for a FILLING. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE.

Positive experience: Even though I didn't get my teeth worked on today I was impressed with how they are trying to get me through all of the insurance issues...who would have ever imagined that you would need a pre-authorization for an emergency visit?!?!? I have a horribly painful infection and there was nothing we could do...the office girls were quick to get all the documentation emailed AND faxed to cover all the bases. I will update this review in 2 or 3 days when (hopefully) I can get the work done that I so DESPERATELY NEED!!!

Fantastic experience: Frandsen Dental is a very professional place of business. From the get-go Dr. Rich has always been attentive to my needs and concerns with dealing with my teeth. His staff is very supportive and professional at all levels. They assist each other in all aspects of their duties. I am happy to be able to find Frandsen Dental and have them keep my teeth, healthy and strong.

Negative experience: For several months my wife has been going to frandsen dental ,suposedly to get new teeth but every time she goes in to à scheduled appointment she is told her teeth are still not ready, we have paid thousands of dollars after insurance and she still doesn't have the new teeth that she was promised or in the time frame promised

Fantastic experience: My family has been coming here for years! My daughter is did her Orthodontics here. I have a beautiful smile because of doctor Rich. I absolutely love the staff! The new hunter is wonderful. I feel like family and am always pleased with the work done.

Fantastic experience: The staff is always friendly. I have a toddler and whenever I take her with me to my appointments, they all help me with her whilst I get any procedure done. Never had a complaint. :)

Negative experience: The only kind people were the receptionist and woman who cleaned my teeth. The dentist said I had several cavities, needed a root canal and two crowns. He did no further testing and walked out. I felt uncomfortable sitting there and being told my mouth would decay if I didn’t handle it. With it being 5 THOUSAND dollars I went for a second opinion my big sister recommended. The dentist at the other place answered every question I had, repeated if I didn’t understand and made me feel valued. The billing person at this location made me feel so dumb and poor and it sucked. You get two stars because the receptionist and dental hygienist were so kind. Otherwise, the billing person and dr would get none. I’ll not recommend this place to anyone I know.

Negative experience: Went for my first cleaning and exam with them (Orem location) last week and was told I needed 6 fillings done. I wasn’t symptomatic and have a history of healthy teeth, so I went to Downtown Dental in Provo today for a 2nd opinion and was told there was no work they thought needed done, just 2 teeth to check up on at my next exam. I’m so glad I got a 2nd opinion, and so upset at Frandsen Dental. Also, the office is in an old house, with wood floors everywhere, and is the loudest office of any kind I’ve ever been in. I was on the verge of a breakdown before we even started the cleaning. Because of this, I requested nitrous, and was charged $75 for less than 30 minutes of use. I really hate to say it but this place seems to live up to the exploitative dental office stereotype. :(

Negative experience: Dentist taking advantage of you?!SCAMMING you on your cavities?! If you want that then go here. Never had cavities before, but each visit here they told me I had a cavity. Same thing happened to my wife and they then told her she needed an 800$ crown asap or she would have to get a root canal in the future. We went to get a second opinion at two other dentists and they found NOTHING WRONG! I remember the dentist himself saying, “yeah this is probably, maybe, or will be a cavity if we don’t fill it.” Good sales team they have as well, up selling you on everything, creating little payments plans, and unfortunately even with insurance you will be paying hundreds of out of pocket costs because of their “advanced technology” they have…so you apparently have to pay more. Teeth were worse after going there and I spent 600$ even with insurance on possibly non existent cavities.

Fantastic experience: I came here to get a second opinion on some recent dental work from another dental office. I’m so glad I did! The staff and dr really listened to my concerns and ultimately found problems that needed to be fixed.

Negative experience: TLDR: don’t go here, they’ll damage your teeth and take your money. This a follow-up on a review my husband left about a year ago. A year ago I was told I had 3 cavities, after getting a free X-ray with a discount cleaning. It was supposed to be over 700 dollars to get them filled, as I didn’t have insurance. I got a second opinion and that dentist didn’t see any cavities. A year later (like 2 weeks ago) at my yearly cleaning a different dentist still didn’t find ANY cavities. After reading similar reviews it really does seem like this is a scam they’re running. Two dentists and a year later and I still don’t have any cavities.

Fantastic experience: My first visit for a cleaning was great! they have such friendly staff! I just recently made the switch from another Dental office! I am staying with Frandsen Dental! Even my kids approved.

Negative experience: Even though I arrived on time for my 8 am appointment, the entire appointment was rushed from the cleaning to the 5 minutes the dentist spent examining my teeth and talking with me. He casually told me I needed 3 fillings. My last dentist was always careful not to overdo fillings and would let me know if there was a spot where a cavity was beginning to develop but it did not need to be filled and could still self-heal with good dental care, but this dentist seemed to prescribe fillings for the slightest of issues. At the end of the appointment, my teeth didn't really feel clean, I had more flouride on my lips than my teeth, and I felt like I was being pushed into getting more fillings than I actually needed. Then, to top it all off, the cleaning, x-ray, and exam for new patients were advertised to be only $69 on their website, but I was billed over $200. I don't think they even billed my insurance first. I will not be going back. Edit: I checked my invoice a day later and it said it had been paid so I guess my insurance came through. However, this was still an awful experience and I would not recommend this dentist office.

Negative experience: I went in to get my tooth fixed and turns out it needed a crown. So they did what they needed to in order to get a mold then went to shaping the temporary crown. It looks terrible and I cannot even go out in public. Its my front tooth and it's really embarrassing.

Negative experience: Hi! I normally would never write a review, but candidly I am praying that people see this and re-consider coming here because of how terrible my experience was. I'll share a lot of detail, but the top paragraph gives a pretty good summary. A discount cleaning and free x-rays are NOT worth the hundreds of dollars in fake cavities and damage to your teeth that they could inflict by drilling into your teeth unnecessarily. Without touching my teeth and after doing many x-rays with Dr. Rich he said I had three large cavities resulting in approx. $800 dollars of dental work. I wasn’t insanely impressed with the service so I decided I would get the work fulfilled at the family dentist that I usually went to that had a stellar reputation in the community. Upon reviewing the x-rays from Frandsen that cost $25 to have sent to me and independent x-rays that he took he told me that none of the x-rays reflected ANY cavities. In fact, drilling into my teeth would have done significantly more damage than good. I’m pretty trusting so I assumed maybe there was a mixup, but on calling their office the receptionist informed me that every dentist is different and acted like everyone gets to have different opinions on whether cavities are there. In fact, she even said that she could see based on the x-rays why he said I have cavities (which is confusing because I don’t think she has a degree or is reviewing x-rays regularly…or maybe she is and that’s why they said I have cavities?) Fast forward, I talked to the dentist (Dr. Rich) who was equally defensive and said that he was looking at the x-rays and saw all three cavities there still. I would have been impressed if there had been some ownership, he got a second opinion, or even approached it less defensively. As I was sharing my concerns Dr. Rich even interrupted and said "do you have a question for me?" I have never been treated so unprofessionally by a service provider. My best case is that Dr. Rich needs to go back to dental school and learn what cavities look like...and worst case is that they are intentionally scamming people that they think won't think twice. To make matters worse, the appear to target minorities and lower income individuals with their marketing and low price cleaning strategy. After having this experience I looked at their reviews and found someone who had the same experience just three weeks prior. Praying that no one has the terrible experience I had or if you do go there please get a second opinion if they say you have cavities. It may save you $700+ dollars.

Negative experience: I don't like posting negative reviews, but sadly our experience here was very negative and I feel a moral obligation to share it. My wife came in for a cleaning and free x-ray and they told her she had three cavities. We went to get them done at the University of Utah's dental clinic and the x-rays that Frandsen Dental sent were unreadable (we were not refunded for the $25 fee to email the x-rays). They checked her teeth and found that she had two places where her enamel was worn down, but no cavities. The students and the overseeing dentist both said that it is not recommended to fill them because it would do more harm than good to her teeth. Yikes! We were almost charged hundreds of dollars for cavities that weren't there, so I would not recommend!
