Negative experience: My prior dentist is no longer in network with my insurance and I recently booked an appointment at Oakwood for a cleaning with the hopes of becoming a regular patient/establishing care with an in network provider. Unfortunately, my search for a new dentist continues. I did not have a favorable impression of Dr. Jackman. She struck me as being a slick talker that was a bit too familiar with me for my first visit by trying to put me at ease immediately by greeting me in a very casual fashion, like an old friend. Prior to Dr. Jackman’s exam, I told her that I had one old composite filling in a molar that recently felt like maybe it had been damaged because it no longer felt as smooth as it did and I noticed more food was getting caught deep in the tooth recently. After the briefest hands on/visual inspection of my mouth and review of my x-rays, she declared that they would need to replace the one filling I had asked her to evaluate, plus two additional fillings in adjacent lower molars. She also advised me that I had a cavity in one of my upper teeth. She did not advise that there was any particular problem with the specific filling that I had inquired about, nor did she indicate any medical necessity for removing and replacing any of the other fillings that I have no problems with. When I asked her which upper tooth the cavity was in, she simply responded “it’s a pre-molar, number 4”. I felt this to be somewhat condescending and inappropriate, as if the response to my question didn’t really matter because I wouldn’t understand anyway. Also, the hygienist had only minutes earlier advised me that everything looked good on my cleaning with minimal plaque and that my daily oral hygiene routine is good and effective. If there is evidence of decay on one of my teeth, I think it’s important that I know exactly which one so that I can be more diligent in the future about brushing that tooth and the area around it, because my current routine is obviously deficient with respect to that particular area, based on the evidence of the alleged cavity. Considering I had no complaints about the tooth that allegedly has a cavity, I would have liked for the dentist to actually use her hands to show me the location of the tooth and the evidence of decay in my mouth using a mirror/other tools, as well as showing me where the decay was indicated in the x-rays. Instead, Dr. Jackman decided that “premolar, 4” was sufficient. I’ve never had a medical doctor or dentist discuss my medical imaging results during an appointment without showing me specifically on the imaging where/what the problem is/looks like. I booked my follow up on the way out but knew before I left that I’d likely be canceling that appointment. As soon as I got home I booked a consult with another dentist and requested my x-rays from Oakwood. I was not at all surprised by what I found after I subsequently did an independent google search for Ann Jackman, DDS and read the reviews left by former patients at her now defunct private practice. Unfortunately, I am not the first patient of Dr. Jackman’s to feel that their questions or concerns were not meaningfully addressed. People are allowed to ask questions to be able to make informed decisions about their care, but based on the way that Dr. Jackman responded to the few questions I asked, I wasn’t comfortable asking any others because it was clear she didn’t think it was important that I have the information. Even if the consultation with the other dentist confirms the findings made at Oakwood, I’d be more comfortable having the work done by another dentist after receiving an actual explanation of the medical necessity for doing so before I consent to having a bunch of my teeth drilled and filled. Ideally, the explanation will be supported and explained to me using the imaging created and used to diagnose the issue.

Negative experience: I really like the doctor and staff. However, there is a complete lack of respect when it comes to the patient’s time, which seems to be the norm for all doctors now-a-days! I arrived 15 minutes before my appointment, as requested by the office. The nurse didn’t call me in until 30 minutes after my appointment time, and then it took another 20 minutes before the doctor actually saw me. Why are you overbooking yourselves? The doctor was going back and forth between rooms to tend to three different patients at the same time! I respect your time by arriving as scheduled, you should do the same

Fantastic experience: I love this place. Everyone that works at this office makes you feel welcome and comfortable. Dr. Jackman makes you feel good even though you might be in pain she makes you feel safe because she knows what she is doing. She is the best dentist that I had so far.

Negative experience: Waited 3 months for this appointment and was told due to equipment not working I have to reschedule. The lady at the desk wasn't very helpful she said I can come on Monday at 2:30. I'm at work then. The next appointment I was told in September but if there’s a cancellation they will call me or I can go to their other office in June for their next appointment. This was my first and most likely last visit here. It's hard to believe they didn't try to accommodate me to come in earlier after waiting three months for this appointment.

Positive experience: Oakwood Dental provides good clinical care, and I appreciate the professionalism of the staff. However, the office seriously needs to improve its time management. During my last three appointments, I waited over 40 minutes each time before being seen. At this point, it’s not an occasional delay — it’s a pattern. What makes this more frustrating is that patients are charged a $75 fee if they are late, yet the office does not seem to hold itself to the same standard when it comes to respecting patients’ time. Please stop overbooking appointments. Respect for patients’ schedules should go both ways. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and leads to meaningful improvement.

Fantastic experience: They were able to see me on short notice and when I called the day of my appointment they were able to give me a much earlier visit. Very flexible, I really appreciate that. Only waited a few minutes in the waiting room and I was being worked on about 15 minutes into my arrival. Very friendly staff and the dentist who saw me was awesome. Overall one of the best experiences I've had with a Dentist in a while. Would highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Let me start by saying I hate the dentist. If I could never go, I wouldn’t. I made an appt, walked in 15 min before, did all paper work & they took me in immediately. Dr Jackman was super nice, made my experience very easing & took the time to explain everything to me. The hygienist Shaye I had was super sweet, quick, always asked if I was okay, if I had any questions, was thorough with teaching me everything, cleaned my teeth so nicely & even gave me a new toothbrush & paste. The front desk was also super nice & helpful too! 10/10 would recommend coming here. Everything from the front of the house to the back of the house was superb.

Fantastic experience: I started having molar pain after flying home from a trip to Denver. I called my regular (now former) dentist on a Thursday and they told me they wouldn’t be able to fit me in until Monday. I then called Oakwood Dental and they were able to fit me in that SAME DAY right after I got off work. After an examination and x-rays Dr Lerch determined the tooth was infected and I needed root canal. Because it was a molar I needed to see a specialist- an endodontist. He sent in a prescription for antibiotics and gave me a referral to Goldman and Levine for the root canal. I tried calling them for an appointment but the don’t answer the phone - I could only leave a voice message requesting an appointment. Well I’m STILL waiting for them to call me back so…forget about them. I instead went to another endodontist who was recommended to me - Dr Yaela Faitlowicz. She was able to see me the next day and was wonderful - but that’s a different review. Oakwood Dental did a great job getting the x-rays sent to her office for me ASAP. After the root canal was completed Dr Lerch fitted me with a temporary crown until my permanent was finished which took approx 2 weeks. I now have my permanent crown and it fits perfectly and looks and feels like a brand new tooth. I have to say Dr Lerch did an excellent job. I’m really happy with the way tooth looks and feels. The staff at Oakwood Dental are very friendly, helpful and caring. I couldn’t ask for anything more. Thanks Oakwood Dental!

Negative experience: Very bad experience. Went in for cleaning. Was told I needed a root canal. After working on me for over an hour dentist Remi told me he didn't have equipment to finish and referred me out. Come to find out he was not qualified to do root canals. Now the endo wants to charge a few hundred dollars to correct the damage done. Other dentists didn't want to get involved with the hatchet job done to me by Dr. Lerch. I have to pay to correct the hole he left in my mouth.

Positive experience: The staff and their work is great. But does anyone answer the phone? I’ve been calling since yesterday to get an appointment for a tooth ache. Left messages and texts. No one answers.

The ofice environment is beautiful and the doctors are very specific to providing details of the kind of care you need and why it is needed. Negative experience: Some lady called my house by the name of Debra and was very rude and disrespectful so I hung up and then called back and there wasn’t a manager or supervisor that I was able to speak with to complain about this womansss behavior when I said I was calling to the main office to complain about this women they out a fake supervisor on the phone to speak to me,which was respectful yet didn’t do anything to rectify the problem.

Fantastic experience: Due to a discomfort in my temporary cap that was done at railroad, I was sent to victory blvd due to not having availability. Coming into the office it was very welcoming. I loved how Stephanie was very comforting and patient and took her time to explain to me in regards to my issue. Dr Graziano took very good care of me. Thanks to him I’m feeling better. I highly recommend this location.

Negative experience: The dentist could not finish my root canal because instead of putting the temp on herself she had her students/assistant do it and it fell out 4 times in a row ,one of the times it fell off right when I left , I gave up completely with fixing my one tooth I then went to nyu dentist in the city for a second opinion and they stated the placement and position of the screw was completely off and isn’t worth fixing (mind you this is just a regular root canal I have no special case or anything ) . Now I will be spending money on an implant soon enough . My other class mates in school also said they had issues with this dentist aswell .

Fantastic experience: I have been coming here for about a year and have always loved this office (Victory Blvd). Front desk staff very friendly, love Dr. Jackman and all the other staff. This time however, while sitting in waiting room, a new staff that I haven’t seen before was very sarcastic towards the front desk. She had long brown hair and black glasses. She has a very poor attitude towards her fellow staff and gives this office a more stressful environment instead of the friendly atmosphere I have become used to.

Fantastic experience: The dentist and staff are very rewarding. Very calm and take care of your every needs. I wish the victory boulevard location was larger. Because they are so nice there. My only concern is parking. Vanessa who cleans my teeth is very personable and I enjoy her bedside manners when it comes to my teeth.
