Negative experience: My experience with Dr. Hapney’s office was deeply troubling, and I feel it’s important to warn others. I went in for a check-up expecting nothing more than a cleaning and an honest assessment. After a very quick look at my teeth and X-rays, Dr. Hapney told me I had two cavities that needed to be filled immediately. She emphasized that if I didn’t get them filled right away, the situation would worsen. This diagnosis didn’t make sense to me. I take excellent care of my teeth, have never had a cavity before, and had no symptoms. Out of caution, I sought a second opinion from a reputable dentist. After a thorough exam and a review of my X-rays, the second dentist confirmed my teeth are perfectly healthy with no signs of decay whatsoever. When I looked at the other reviews, I found multiple patients describing the exact same experience, being told they had cavities here, only to later find out they didn’t. This makes it hard to see it as anything other than a deliberate pattern. This place is a complete scam designed to upsell unnecessary treatments. Even the dental hygienists here came across as fake and insincere, smiling and chatting while clearly pushing the same scripted sales pitch rather than providing genuine patient care. This kind of behavior is unacceptable and unethical. Dentistry should be based on honesty, transparency, and patient trust, not scare tactics and deception to make money. Avoid this place at all costs. If you value your health, your wallet, and your peace of mind, always get a second opinion before agreeing to any treatment recommended here.

Negative experience: Worst place ever. They aggressively push Invisalign on you. Never in my life have I’ve been told I needed invisalign. On a Friday I tried to cancel my appointment that was scheduled for Monday and I was told I would be charged a $75 per hour no show fee. Also I had to cancel appointment the day of because my daughter shattered both heels and was in the ER being admitted to the hospital. The office charged me $150 cancellation fee. I also think I was scammed in believing I had a ton of cavities despite the hygienist commenting on how clean and well maintained my teeth were. Update: I had X-rays done at another dentist and zero cavities. Good thing I didn’t get the rest of these fake cavities done.

Fantastic experience: By far the best dentist I have ever been to in the world and I truly mean that it’s not even close. I’m moving out of the country and I’ve waited for this appointment just to see the dentist here a true absolutely blessing.

Negative experience: After 5 years of visiting this office, I decided to take my business somewhere else. It is a shame, because I loved all the girls who cleaned my teeth. My last visit with Dr. Hapney was really bad. After a little cavity work I returned home with horrible pain that never stopped. When I returned few days later to have it checked again, for the first time she mentioned that maybe she went a little close to the nerve and if antibiotics won’t help, root canal will be necessary. I could not believe what I was hearing! 6 months ago there was nothing and suddenly I need root canal and crown?! I left very disappointed and confused with extremely high estimate to get my tooth fixed. I called back to see if they would be willing to refund me for the filling Dr. Hapney did, so I could apply that money for root canal work and crown on that tooth, but of course refund was denied. I decided to visit different dentist to get another opinion and see, if I really needed root canal and crown. When new dentist opened my tooth (which never stopped hurting) he surprisingly said: “Wow, she went to the nerve!” And just like that, I had to spend another thousand dollars to get root canal and crown done. Luckily it wasn’t few thousands like Five Forks dental estimated me. If Dr. Hapney was kind enough to at least refund me for the filling during which she damaged my tooth, I would be more forgiving and still visiting this office. But some people have hard time doing the right thing, sadly. If she at least showed that she cared…

Negative experience: I had an extremely disappointing experience with them regarding my dentures. After spending over $5,000, they never fit properly, no matter how many adjustments were made. Each visit felt like a temporary fix rather than a real solution. Despite multiple attempts, the discomfort and poor fit remained, making it impossible to wear them. Eventually, I had to go to another dentist, who immediately noticed the issues and provided a much better solution. I regret wasting my time and money here. I would not recommend this practice to anyone looking for quality dentures.

Negative experience: I visited Five Forks Dental twice for teeth cleanings. Initially, I thought Dr. Hapney’s advice was helpful when she mentioned I had a severe anterior open bite that could only be cured with braces or surgery, which turned out to be untrue. She also suggested that my chin was misaligned due to a childhood accident. Her manner of delivering diagnoses felt aggressive and overwhelming. The most alarming part was when Dr. Hapney claimed I had 8 cavities, despite having only one cavity in my entire life. Skeptical, I sought a second opinion from a hometown dentist. Five Forks Dental sent over the X-rays but refused to provide the treatment plan outlining the supposed cavities. It turned out I didn’t have a single cavity. Additionally, Dr. Hapney advised me to stop wearing my custom-made retainer at night, which lead to increased jaw pain due to my teeth grinding. The other dentist was shocked that she would suggest sleeping without the retainer. Overall, I believe this place is a scam.

Negative experience: Update: 2024 vs. a few years ago Too many adverse, undesirable changes. No longer a sought after establishment. Once she "made it," there is no longer an interest in genuinely helping unless you're a "big wig" with big bucks. She now caters to the more high-end clientele, and your importance level at this office will now depend on how deep your pockets are. Also, NO insurance is in-network anymore. Everyone is filed as OUT-of-network, which is much more costly for the patient. Sad, disappointing, and unfortunate for a once decent place.

Negative experience: Worst dentist ever. Tried to up sale unnecessary procedures in my opinion. Never had an issue with any dentist in the past. She is very aggressive in her approach. Tried to sell me on facial, B12 and other products. I’ve spent thousands of dollars on her and she is still not satisfied. Do not recommend!!!

I normally have the shakes or I’m nauseated, when seeing the dentist. However with this dentist, I had the best experience ever! Negative experience: Beyond incompetent front desk staff. Screwed up our insurance and refused to resubmit correctly and sent threatening letters and ultimately collections. Hapney and Co are profession con artists.

Negative experience: This office is developing a reputation for focusing on product sales pitch and mishandling insurance claims. The dunce behind the counter is either unwilling or unable to bill insurance correctly.

Fantastic experience: I had an extraction today, very pleased with Dr. Hapney and the staff. I have very bad anxiety, we had a rough start because I just couldnt get numb enough lol. Dr. Hapney gave me more novocain and the assistant made sure I was okay through the whole procedure. There were more patients there but I was made to feel as if I was the only one. Its about an hr drive from my house but worth it. Thank you Dr. Hapney, assistant and to the angel holding my hand.

Negative experience: I had the worst experience at this practice. I was mislead to believe that they accepted my insurance, only to be told at check-out that they're out of network with all insurances! Really?! I have over 20 years of healthcare experience and it is clear that they purposely mislead you. Be careful! They will lie to you and you will end up with a surprise bill of over $400 like I did. If they would have told me that I would have to pay out of pocket because they are not in network with any insurance, I would have made the decision to call another dentist who is in network. They don't tell you because they're shysters! They're in the business of making money and do not have your best interest at hand. They are unethical! The check-out staff is so used to having this experience that everyone looked the other way when I expressed their deceptive practices. Do yourselves a favor, find another dentist.

Negative experience: I’m beyond disappointed with the lack of customer service this office provides. After my visit I was told that they aren’t in network with my provider anymore which was a new change and then was told they won’t provide a referral to another office for work they are able to do.

Negative experience: They’ve changed a lot and no longer are in network for any insurance but wasn’t notified until I asked what they were whispering about right before they sat me down in chair for cleaning. The employees are very nice but seems like doctor (s) are practicing in a way that isn’t very organized or transparent so I decided to take my business elsewhere after going there for a few years.

Negative experience: Extremely unprofessional. Treated my daughter with no respect and charged her for an X-ray and then told her they couldn’t help her and referred her to someone else. She did not want to pay and they told her if she didn’t pay they would call the cops! She is only 24 and was scared and didn’t know what to do! She paid them $160 cash and they refused to discuss it further with her. DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS!

Fantastic experience: He Did it and I'm Glad He Did I was 85 years old and I wanted implants, but I thought I was too old to put that much money in my mouth for what I thought was only a few years left in my life. My husband, Charles saw it differently. He went to the office of Five Forks Dental Care(my dentist of choice) then came home and told me I was getting implants and they were already paid for. Needless to say I was elated. They did a beautiful work on my mouth and now I say, "money well spent". I am now 89 and it has been totally worth it The staff is professional, knowledgeable, and really make you feel comfortable

Negative experience: I am really concerned after reading some of the reviews that there was a lady who went through the exact same thing that I am going through right now, among others. In addition to some of the other things that I have went through like bad customer service, not getting calls back, being in pain for a couple weeks and still in pain, getting referred out. How do you sit through 4 hours of work and x-rays, but not know that somebody needs a root canal? How do you leave a patient in pain like that and still not call them back the next day with information on what is going on? I had to buy A mouthwash after going back that cost me $25 that I should’ve not had to buy and was not told about the first time. My mouth is worse than it was the first time, before I even went to the dentist. I’m getting severe headaches from the pain, was not explained thoroughly the care that comes along with the aftermath of this kind of work after having a tooth pulled also and waiting on my crown. Yes the staff is nice, but this is unacceptable to do to a patient. Now trying to refer me out when they do root canals there at that office. I explained I cant eat on that side and Im told to increase my salt rinses. Personally, I'm pretty sure there has been a big mistake made in my mouth. My bite is off and my teeth hurt tremendously. I actually was warned by a good friend to go to a different dentist, after there family had a bad experience with being taken for there money, now I see why.

Fantastic experience: Very thorough. Providers and staff are very kind, down to earth, and make me feel very relaxed for a clinic setting. Great communication in individualized treatment plans where options and explanations are given to make me feel at ease with trusting them.

Positive experience: I’ve been going here for a while now. The dentist and hygienist and employees are nice. The thing that I struggle with is knowing that anytime I have a dental appointment I will be there anywhere from 2 to 3 or four hours at a time. I already have anxiety about going to the dentist so being there for what seems like a very prolonged amount of time does not help that. My biggest issue is customer service. There have been countless times where I have called and left a message or called and spoken with someone and never get a call back. Including one time where I had complications after dental work that lead to an infection and a root canal. I called the very next day and spoke with someone about my symptoms and they said they would talk to the doctor and call me back. They never did so I had to call them back several days later after days of pain to then get a follow up several days later & be referred out to a specialist which equaled a total of two weeks in pain & discomfort that definitely could have been shortened had they responded promptly. Then recently I called asking for a quote about Invisalign and again was told they would check into my insurance and call me back and never have. The work they do so far seems to be pretty solid but the customer service honestly stinks.

Negative experience: Doctor Hapney messed up couple of my teeth and couldn't figure out what she did wrong. One of the teeth was hearting so bad that I couldn't eat on that side. I had to come back several times to give her a chance to fix her mistakes but she couldn't. I asked her if we can do another x-ray to see what's wrong but it was ignored. I found a doctor who cares much more about patients and he was able very quickly to figure out what Hapney did wrong. I had to pay out of my pocket to fix same tooth second time. At the Hapney's office at my first visit they printed a long list of what has to be fixed. My new doctor didn't have to do all of that. If it's not necessary, than why to drill normal teeth? It's over three years now since they gave me a long list to fix and my teeth are still fine. Please consider a second opinion if you decide to visit Hapney's dentistry. ---- P.S. Couple of fillings my husband got with Hapney, had to be redone in less than 2 years. I am very glad we found a much better doctor. ----- I requested copies of my medical records, and my request was denied already several times. I had to contact HIPPA directly to get the records.

Fantastic experience: Procedures for registering/checking in were careful and efficient... My hygienist was awesome and made for a great experience. The conversation with my dentist was informative and I appreciated her taking the time and explaining each concern she had after my cleaning. Negative experience: They told me a had two cavities and that my son had four. They wanted $ 600 to fill them. I got a second opinion and neither of us had any cavities. They are just looking for money and not your best interest. I am sorry I spent so much time with them.

Fantastic experience: My kids and I love Dr. Hapney and the team. They don't "specialize" in kids but you'd never know it by the way they calm kids and make cleaning easy. My 3 year old freaks out if we even mention haircut but he has no fear or anxiety about getting his teeth cleaned by Dr. Hapney's team.

Fantastic experience: I was hesitant about choosing a dentist since I finally had insurance. I was told about Five Forks Dental Care. I was greeted as I walked in with Maria helping me with my new patient picture and signature for forms. After waiting not long for my appointment, Cheryl greeted me and welcomed to the office. She showed me all the facility and the amenities around it, not just dental care but also skin care and spa treatment. Cheryl throughly explained everything she was doing with my cleaning (x-rays, polishing, gum reception) and set me up with an affordable payment plan along with my insurance. She had great assistant help from Andreea with photos of my teeth, to keep track of my progress for each visit. After the initial cleaning, I met Dr. Hapney, who was great inspecting the work and looking forward to seeing me again with future dental work as needed. If your looking for top notch dental work, with experienced, friendly staff and be treated more than just a patient, then give Dr. Hapney and her team a visit to Five Forks Dental Care and see for yourself.

Negative experience: We had MetLife, an insurance not widely accepted. I knew this and called many different dentist offices before calling five forks dental where I was told by front desk staff that they took this insurance and in fact have many patients with this insurance. I asked them to verify any payment I may have and this was not done either. They do not “take” nor are they “in network” with this or most insurances, but (as I learned today talking with their office manager) are in fact trained to tell people over the phone of how they participate with all insurances. I am in the medical field and as I stated earlier had called multiple different offices in town and was very openly told that they do not participate or were not in network with MetLife. At first I was going to blame staff training, but after my discussion today with the office manager I learned they are in fact trained to be deceitful in the hopes they will “wow” you with their services and you won’t care that your insurance does not pay for a large part of the bill. I am not interested in doing business with an office that has this sort of mentality and hope that you will not either.

Fantastic experience: The entire staff are Amazing! When I say amazing, I mean it! I have a terrible fear of dentist so I was so diappointed that I had to go in as I had the begining stages of an absest tooth. I knew that if I waited it would get much worst, never think that it's going to heal by itself because the pain will get worse and the expenses are just as painful. When I went in my anxiety was at it's peak, but it didn't take long to feel at ease. I received a sincere welcome by two sweet girls at the front desk. As I filled out the paperwork my anxiety began to creep back in, but then a sweet assistant Casey called me back and gave me a tour of this incredible business. They offer so much more than dental care (who knew). They have a beautiful relaxed environment which includes a day spa, really? Oh my gosh! The entire setting was so clean and peaceful. It's now time to get in the chair Come to find out my tooth with an old mercury filling was cracked so it had to go. Knowing what was coming next my level of anxiety was surprisingly low. I was so relaxed by the staff and setting. The numbing process was a breeze, the extraction was pretty quick and I didn't taste a drop of blood, thank you Casey! I had my followup visit and got great news, it's healing well. I was given easy to follow post-op instructions and some supplies to help the healing process. I highly recommend Five Forks Dental!!!

Fantastic experience: The best dental experience I have EVER had! Cheryl was the sweetest and so informative! There wasn't a single thing that they didn't explain or make sure I was ok with. All the employees were so nice and they give you a breakdown of everything the whole way. The office is beautiful and you can't beat the luxurious hand treatment! First visit and I cant believe I can say I'm actually excited to go to the dentist!

Negative experience: My last interaction was not great. I was recommended for a Crown. My temporary crown was problematic (had to be adjusted multiple times which meant I had to take off work and make additional unexpected trips), my permanent crown did not fit the first TWO times. The THIRD and final time the crown finally fit. However, it's now two weeks later and my tooth is still highly sensitive to cold and hot food/drink. In addition, a rash appeared on my tongue in reaction to their tools used. I was prescribed a mouth wash that I had to pay for out of pocket after all of the inconveniences they caused. I was given no explanation for why the spot occurred and no sound explanation for why the crown wasn't done correctly the first two times. These events spanned over at least a month. That's unacceptable. The two stars are only because the staff was nice but honestly on a professional level what I had to go through was not ok. Will not be returning.

Fantastic experience: I came to five forks dental to have a root canal and the staff was extremely nice and made me feel at ease. Dr Vance did a wonderful job explaining everything to me. There was also not a long wait. I was seated within a few minutes.

Fantastic experience: I wish I could give 5 forks dental 10 stars! I was able to get a same day appointment and was treating no different than if I had a regular appointment!!! Fantastic experience: Dr. Hapney is extremely thorough and is a forward thinker. She doesn’t just treat symptoms but also is proactive and offers preventative options which I love. She and her staff are super sweet and make you feel comfortable. Her office is super clean too! She truly cares about every patient and wants them to have the best teeth and feel confident with their smile.

Negative experience: I've seen there reviews at everywhere is so good but I quickly learned why it is. They ask you to leave review even before you have been seen by doctors. I went there for gumming problem and they took the x-ray for all of the teeth, and they did assumably deep cleaning but when it was finished, when looked the mirror, almost nothing had changed. Then, I went another doctor office..they called the five forks dental to get the x-rays, but received a response only there was one x-ray for one tooth. The Five Forks Dental lied..then, the new dental place checked and see they had not cleaned well and needed another deep cleaning...

Fantastic experience: They are very polite and nice to their clients. When I have questions, they give me very good answers. They are very helpful and care that you have the best dental hygiene possible.

Fantastic experience: This is by far the best dental office in Greenville! Everyone in the office is so warm and welcoming, and they do a great job of taking care of you and your teeth. I love Dr. Vance, she takes great care in her work and does a great job and explaining the treatment plans. They are also very accommodating financially.

Fantastic experience: First time patient, greeted very warmly by staff. This clinic does an exemplary job of explaining every step of their procedure and practice. As a customer, I learned how my teeth were to be maintained, rather than simply going in for just a regular cleaning. My dentist today was Cheryl, very friendly and considerate of any possible sensitivity in the mouth! Very thorough in her work and pleasant conversation. Enjoyed the session and highly recommend. Plus, the complementary wax glove treatment is a definite treat! Not your normal dentist appointment!

Fantastic experience: I had my first official cleaning with Five Fork Dental. I had been to the office for a consultation at which time I was treated to a wonderful hot paraffin wax hand treatment. On both visits, the entire office staff was warm and welcoming. I felt like I was well taken care of with a thorough exam and had the full attention of both the Dental Hygienist and Dr. Vance. Dr. Vance spent quite a bit of time with me explaining some concerns and a treatment plan. I am very happy with Five Fork Dental and have finally found my dental care home!
