Smile Place- a pediatric dentist

Fantastic experience: I brought both of my kids in this morning and we had such a great experience! Both Inna and Dr. Greene were absolutely wonderful! Inna was very kind and thorough. Dr. Greene was also very nice and he did a great job at keeping my son calm. Would definitely request them both again!

Fantastic experience: We love the Smile Place! The staff is wonderful, communicative, and engaging. We have had great interactions with everyone there, but it’s Dr. Matt at the Five Forks location who keeps us coming back. He is kind to the kids, explains things well to parents, and is just generally very good at his profession. I have been particularly impressed that Dr. Matt and our orthodontist have collaborated together on some specific issues one of our sons has. I did not ask them to do this but learned in the process that they message one another to discuss the situation and have worked together to come up with the plan that they both think will produce the desired results. This gives me peace of mind knowing that these doctors are working together to do the best job for my son! Additionally, I have on occasion gone to the Harrison Bridge location and found the doctors and staff there to be wonderful as well. I know my boys are in good hands at Smile Place!

Fantastic experience: Our visit was everything I could have hoped for for our 2-year-old’s first dentist appointment! The entire staff was warm, patient, and welcoming, making the experience fun and stress-free. They took the time to explain everything and made our little one feel comfortable every step of the way. We left with smiles all around, and we’re so thankful for such a positive first dental experience. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Cannot say enough good things about Smile Place! My 6 year old has autism and dentist visits used to be such a struggle. Dad and I would both have to attend appointments and hold him down. We would always leave in tears and dreading the next experience. But Smile Place has been so patient and accommodating with him that now he LOVES going to the dentist and looks forward to it. I have tears in my eyes at every visit now for good reason- they are happy tears! I am So proud of my kiddo’s progress with the help of Dr. Matt and this amazing team. Heather has done most of his cleanings and she is so phenomenal with him- explaining exactly what she is doing and what each tool is for. She is patient, calm and FUN! Fantastic experience: The absolute best pediatric dentist we’ve ever been to! From the moment you walk in, the staff is incredibly friendly, welcoming, and kind. All three of my kiddos have been seeing Dr. Matt for a little over a year now, and every visit has been met with patience, understanding, and genuine care. He takes the time to explain everything in a way that helps both kids and parents feel comfortable and at ease, which makes such a difference. He’s always informative, compassionate, and truly focused on what’s best for my children. As an added bonus, they have the sweetest office pup, Cozy, who completely made my daughter’s day and helped keep her calm in the chair. Such a thoughtful touch that made an already great experience even better. We’re so grateful to have found this office!

Fantastic experience: We are consistently happy with Smile Place! Laura is the best hygienist, she is always patient and kind. Dr. Matt is truly the kindest dentist I have ever met. My five year old is comfortable with him, and he’s very gentle and patient. Love this place!

Fantastic experience: We recently moved to the Upstate from across the country and had come to know about Smile Place through a Google search. Our 2 and 5 year olds had their first checkups today and we were so pleased with how well all of the staff and Dr Matt provided care. The whole team made us feel very welcome and comfortable. The office is very clean and fun! We’ll look forward to returning in 6 months!

Negative experience: So I placed an appointment last month and couldn’t make it because my son had a doctor’s appointment. It said in the messages that if I didn’t fill out the paperwork or confirm the appointment then my appointment would be given to another child. So I didn’t fill out the paperwork and they canceled my appointment. I tired to make another one this month and now they are saying since we didn’t come to the first one that I cant ever make another appointment through them again. Why put on there you would release the appointment and make it seem like it’s no big deal but when you try to make another appointment you can’t because you didn’t come to the first one but y’all canceled the first one. It doesn’t make sense to me. Never had this experience with a dentist office and I think it is ridiculous. Y'all should plainly state that if you do not come to the first appointment then you can never make another first appointment through y’all again in the email and messages. So you don’t have people pissed and confused since it was never stated. I wouldn’t waste my time on this dentist office if they are going to be like that and we aren’t even patients just trying to get an appointment for the first time.

Negative experience: I’m very disappointed with our recent experience at this pediatric dentist. The staff was not friendly, and the way they treated my children was unacceptable. I have two daughters, ages 3 and 5, and after every appointment they’ve always been given a coin to use the little gumball-style prize machine. It’s something they look forward to and part of what makes the visit positive for them. This time, however, one of the dental assistants refused to give my 3-year-old a coin, saying she was “not old enough,” even though she has received the same coin and prize at previous appointments. It makes no sense to give one child a prize and not the other. I asked politely multiple times, and they still refused. My daughter ended up crying, and the whole experience became negative when it didn’t need to be. Their website claims they “specialize in kids’ fun,” but that was definitely not the case during our visit. A single coin for a child’s prize shouldn’t be a big deal, and refusing it felt extremely stingy and inconsiderate—especially when it had been given before. My daughter left upset, and now she doesn’t want to come back. Honestly, neither do we.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Matt was so nice to my daughter. It was her first dentist appointment, and we had a great experience! We will definitely continue going to this practice.

Fantastic experience: Very pleased with the staff at smile place in Five Forks. They are very good at what they do. If you are looking for Pediatric dentistry that enjoy their patients and make you feel welcome, this is the place for you and your kiddos. I do recommend them

Fantastic experience: I couldn’t recommend this pediatric dentist more highly. My oldest child started coming here last year and required quite a bit of surgical work. From the very beginning, the staff was kind, accommodating, and exceptionally professional. They made us feel like family and took outstanding care of my son, both during and after his procedure. Since then, we’ve continued coming for routine cleanings, and every visit has been a pleasure. Dr. Matt is fantastic with the kids, patient, gentle, and truly attentive. Now, my two youngest daughters have also started coming here, and the team has been incredibly supportive and understanding, especially with one of my daughters being on the autism spectrum. If you have a child with autism, you know how overwhelming these types of visits can be. But Smile Place has gone above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and supported every step of the way. They deserve more than five stars!

Fantastic experience: We love Smile Place! My kids never fear going to the dentist because the staff is so friendly and caring. Dr. Matt and his army of amazing hygienists treat my kids like family while maintaining a high standard of care and professionalism. The office is always impeccably clean and the kids can watch a show on one of the tvs above the chairs. Tired moms can refuel with a coffee from the lobby and the kiddos can play a video game, climb in a vw bus, or watch a cartoon to make for a stress free wait….which is usually short. 10/10!

Fantastic experience: My daughter first dentist visit was super awesome and very successful. We really loved the warm welcome from the team and also her doctor as well. He explained everything to us along with the nurse and gave us really helpful information! I definitely would recommend this dentist office to anyone who is looking for a pediatric dentist.

Negative experience: We’ve been coming here for a few years but will be switching. The staff and Dr Matt have been kind but my issue is with the pricing and billing and lack of call backs and discrepancy with billing. It was recommended for our son to have cleanings every 3 months and I had no idea the second cleaning would be out of pocket (as some one in the healthcare field this should be shared with patients if you know an upcoming appointment won’t be covered) - my insurance already doesn’t cover the smile place but we came here and I paid the difference my insurance charges but I just got slapped with a $165 bill in the mail and says to pay or face discharge from the practice. It’s the first piece of mail i’ve received for a bill and when I called they said oh yeah the extra cleaning we recommended your insurance won’t pay anything for that. Super shady to recommend a service you knew wasn’t covered. My son also needs two teeth pulled. At first the estimate was $400, then a day before the extractions I got a text the out of pocket would be $900, and then when I called she said it would be $600. I made the decision to start looking for a new provider for my children with clear costs and I can expect clear guidance on costs. My balance has been paid but we will not be returning.

Fantastic experience: I was referred to this place by my children’s pediatrician and we love it here! It’s a bit of a drive from where we live (35 minutes or so) but it’s worth it! The staff is wonderful and takes time to make my children feel comfortable and heard. Granted, my two youngest are at the age where they just don’t like it, but the staff is so kind and patient with them (not to mention quick to get the job done as well!) I couldn’t imagine taking my kids anywhere else, I’m thankful for Smile Place

Fantastic experience: Our family loves Smile Place! As our family has grown, we take all 3 kids for their checkups and the staff accommodates our schedule to see them all at the same time. It’s so helpful and all the technicians are great with my kids. Dr. Matt is a great listener and the kids actually don’t dread going to the dentist because of the amazing environment they have there! They accept Medicaid which is very helpful too. Also, what a genius idea to put tvs on the ceiling above each reclining chair for the kids to watch and put their sunglasses on-too cute! Would highly recommend all kids to go here- usually I don’t drive further than 10 mins for anything, but this Simpsonville office is well worth the 25 minute drive!

When all the other doctors said there's no chance to save my teeth, he took it on himself and actually saved them! He is very trustworthy and hardworking. Definitely loves helping people. Fantastic experience: From the receptionist to the person scheduling the next appointment, everyone was very friendly. The receptionist greeted us with a lovely smile and the hygienist talked to my daughter very frankly, but kindly to instill the importance of oral care. She even referenced what she learned at home.

Negative experience: Dr.Elizabeth was filling my 3 year olds cavities today, he was sedated, and she cut a hole on the side of his mouth bad enough to need stitches. When rescheduling the appointment(because she couldn’t continue after cutting him) she suggested next time someone could hold his head…wow what a genius idea. If only common sense could be taught, I wouldn’t be spending my day in the ER. This 100% could’ve been prevented, we will not be coming back.

Fantastic experience: I’m so beyond thankful that I found this place. I had an extremely bad experience at the previous dentist that I took my children to so I came here for a second opinion. The staff were kind, nonjudgmental, patient, understanding, and knowledgeable. They made my girls feel comfortable. They identified their issues and came up with a treatment plan that will actually help, explained what was causing the issues, and explained each step of their treatment plans. They answered all of my questions politely and in detail so I could fully understand everything. If you’re looking for a dentist for your babies, there is no better place than here. Naturally, I was concerned about how our son would handle the procedure, but from the moment we walked in, Laura and Dr Matt made us feel at ease. Negative experience: I like the atmosphere but I struggle with staff. I feel like when you have questions specifically about charges or what services are best for your child, they seem bothered. I asked for print outs from one of my previous visits and it took asking three times to get it. I started going there a few years ago and Dr Matt js great but now i rarely get to see him and the assistant just speaks to you. I am going to switch after my appointment today.

Fantastic experience: I cannot thank Dr Shetler enough for her care of our son. We were visiting the area for a baseball tournament when our son took a baseball to the mouth. His front tooth came completely out. She came in on a Sunday to help someone who wasn’t one of her patients. She was amazing at calmly communicating everything she was doing. She reassured him… and his parents, every step of the way! She was fun and common a stressful situation!

Fantastic experience: 1st impression they're nice & very understanding! My daughter came in for her first ever dentist appointment. They handled the situation with a calm & professional/loving tone. I never thought my daughter would freak out as bad as she did (being her first ever dentist approach), but they understood without judgment as they had dealt with fearful/nervous children in the past. I'm thankful i found a secure and safe dentist for children. On another note, their office is such a child friendly environment too! 10/10 for everyone, making us feel welcomed & invulnerable.

Fantastic experience: It's been almost 4 years since this post and we're still apart of the Smile Place family I would like to thank the WHOLE OFFICE!!! I was a nervous parent with three girls, ages 10, 6, and 2, looking for a nice, caring dentist. I am so happy and thankful that I took the leap of faith and scheduled my daughter's an appointment with Smile Place. The moment we entered the building Laura took us under her wings without any hesitation with a smile and laughter. I was nervous for my girls from past experiences and my girls were on edge about going to the dentist. I watched the nerves run out the door from all of the genuine care that we received. The bad experiences we've had, changed when we entered Smile Place!!!❤ My 6 year old is terrified of the dentist and after visiting with Smile Place (Laura, Courtney, Matt, our other friend at the front desk, and the rest of the fun loving staff) I can rest assure that the next visit will be even sweeter. Thank you for all you did to ease our dentist anxiety!!! Smile Place is the BEST!!! I'm so happy!!!

Fantastic experience: Smile Place is such a welcoming facility for little ones! The staff and atmosphere take the fear out of going to the dentist. They are extremely accommodating and friendly. Fantastic experience: Today was our first visit to the dentist ever. Dr. Matt, Courtney and the rest of the staff at Smile place were absolutely amazing with my son. They were gentle, explained everything to him (in terms he could understand) and me. As a child, I went through so many traumatizing procedures, and refuse to let my children go through that. We will most definitely become regular patients at Smile Place. Even my daughter, who tagged along was amazed! Thank you Dr. Matt, Courtney and Smile Place!

Negative experience: Purchased two prepaid cleanings for my son. We paid $375 for two cleanings (only received one). However, they did not inform me that they had an expiration date when we purchased the cleanings. Tried to make an appointment today for my child and was told they expired at the end of May. The receptionist checked with the doctor to see if they would honor our purchase. He said he would not honor the cleaning we purchased. Doesn’t seem right. We will be finding a new dentist as a result and unfortunately can’t recommend Smile Place.

Fantastic experience: So my daughter is normally a patient at the Harrison Bridge location, which is awesome!!! She had to have some dental work done and we had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Matt and some of the staff from 5 Forks during the procedure they performed. Dr. Matt and his team went above and beyond to make sure my wife and I were comfortable with the procedure and helping us get through a rough time with our baby girl. Couldn't recommend more!!

Fantastic experience: We continue to be impressed with the care and patience we receive at Smile Place with our special needs daughter. In particular Dr. Matt and Stephanie go above and beyond to help reassure my daughter and myself, but I can truly say everyone there treats us with the same care.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Matt and Ashley were so sweet with my daughter and made her feel at ease during her first visit, and offered helpful recommendations and resources to help us teach her about dental health and to stop thumb sucking.

Fantastic experience: The only tears that was shedded by my 3year old daughter was when we had to leave and she wanted to stay. This dentist office is truly the best and I wouldn't want to send my daughter anywhere else. The staff is patient and truly cares about the kids in there. The facility is well cleaned and age appropriate for multiple age groups. I cant thank them enough for how well they treat me and my child. We love A Smile Place Five Forks
