Fantastic experience: I just wanted to say something about reviews. If you have a couple hundred reviews and very few are negative, I Personally give very little value to the negative review. I plan on scheduling an appointment with this dentist soon but wanted to share my thought about the reviewing and my opinion

Negative experience: I made an appointment, completed all new patient paperwork but I still received calls & texts asking for my dental insurance information. I provided all of the information in the new patient paperwork and again gave Harmoni my information to verify my dental insurance via phone call. Again I received a text saying my insurance information was needed. I again provided the front & back of my dental insurance card, at this point I had lost all confidence in this dental practice & opted to cancel my appointment and find a different dentist.

Negative experience: The office staff is not up to the task. Made an appointment and filled out all the paperwork. Then they started calling wanting the exact same info on the paperwork. Then they called or text several times asking for the insurance info (which was on the paperwork). Why have pages of questions if you just going to call several times asking the same things?

Fantastic experience: I’m an Army wife and I’ve gone to MANY dentists over the years. I’ve had less than pleasant experiences because we had to use whoever accepted our military insurance. But I’m thrilled to say that I have never been treated so well as I was yesterday at Hickory Commons! Everyone was so kind, professional, and knowledgeable! I felt very comfortable and I’m so very thankful to have found a new dentist office I can thoroughly trust!!! My husband also had the same wonderful experience!! They are a fantastic team!

Fantastic experience: Hickory Commons Dental has alleviated my anxieties about going to the dentist. The staff has always been kind, prompt, and professional with me. Interacting with the staff feels personal in the best way: they know me by name, they remember things we talk about during visits...in short it's clear that they actually care about their patients and take an interest in patients' well-being, even if it's not directly related to the treatment being received. They have always been very flexible with scheduling and getting me seen quickly if I have a pressing issue. On top of all of this, they are extremely good at what they do. I am an Invisalign patient and they are very hands-on with my treatment. Any issues I've had with this process (which have been very few, and never a fault of theirs): they quickly get me in to correct the issue. They really have supported me in every way I could imagine in this process. I really cannot adequately convey how much comfort they've put in me with my dental treatment. Going in for a visit is a pleasure, not a dreadful ordeal. I recommend them 100%!

Negative experience: Patient beware! I would have given 0 stars if that was an option! I have Federal Employee Blue Cross Blue shield (BC/BS) coverage which includes biannual exam, X-rays and cleaning. My visit for just X-rays, exam & cleaning was in April 2024. This was my first time using this dental office and found out that they misfiled my claim under Dental insurance rather than my medical insurance which covered the aforementioned dental service twice a year. Since the claim was misfiled BC/BS denied payment. I then had a three way call with this office to explain that it needed to be refiled under my medical insurance. They did NOT resubmit the claim and after 12 months they just turned it over to a collection agency. All other dental offices I have gone to in past 30 years have filed claim correctly and BCBS has paid claim in full. I disputed that I was responsible for the payment of $85 since it was covered under my health insurance plan. Hickory commons dentist and staff ignored the information provided by BCBS and never refilled the claim correctly rather they turned it over to a collection company. I have great credit and tried everything I could to get them to refill the claim correctly rather. They never did resubmit and I got another letter from collection company in Dec 2025 stating I was responsible for the full amount plus a $21 collection fee. My wife and I have made numerous attempts to get them to resubmit but they refused! It’s now been 20 months and I have given up ( even though I have insurance to cover the charges if the office would have just resubmitted it to BCBS as they instructed them to do on a 3way call). Stay away because the staff in charge of filing claims are incompetent and obviously do Not care about their patients! I’m also going to warn all my 500+ neighbors in my subdivision, via a members only email group, and I will post my review on other social media outlets too. When the weather warms up they will see me again, not for an exam & cleaning but rather, holding a “Patient Beware” sign wherever I can legally set up my chair and umbrella near their office, as per my rights as a resident of Cherokee County.

One thing that I love about this place is that they always confirm what your appointment is for and how much you are paying out of pocket before you begin! I made a small change to my appointment and then front office lady comes by to double check and notify and immediately updated me on the charges ! To me this is something important, sometimes I won’t understand what I’m being told and recommend things I’ll say yes to but would never know of the charges. By far the best place !

Negative experience: Unreliable scheduling and poor communication at HCDC I had been with HCDC for many years because the dental care was reliable and the staff was friendly. However, since the practice changed hands, over the past year their respect for patients’ schedules has evaporated. Three appointments in a row were wiped off the calendar less than an hour before I was set to arrive, while I was already in the car. And trust me I understand people get sick, they cant control that, but the excuses extend beyond this - missed flights, traffic jams, double bookings, the Dr isnt in today.... and once they even skipped my cleaning entirely, snapped a couple of X-rays and sent me home with an excuse they didnt have time today and would rebook me. I know issues arise beyond control, but HCDC’s chronic understaffing turns last-minute cancellations into routine and they treat your time as if it means nothing. Try to reschedule and phone messages go straight to voicemail, online booking requests disappear into a black hole, I’ve burned through paid time off waiting on appointments, only to watch my slot vanish at the last minute. My workday is disrupted and every cancellation shows a complete disregard for people who carve out time to look after their health. 5 months trying to reschedule and still I'm unable to get an appointment that they honor. If you value your schedule and expect a practice that honors commitments instead of treating cancellations as routine, steer clear of HCDC. You deserve a dental office that answers calls, confirms appointments, and respects the hours you’ve booked - anything less is simply unacceptable. Lastly, this review should not be a shock to them. I’ve had multiple conversations about the repeated cancellations and all I get in response is “mhhmm, yeah, sorry about that"

Fantastic experience: I started going here a few months ago bc I chipped my front tooth. They got me in right away, did an amazing job. I was very nervous but they explained everything in detail. From there I set up 2 seperate cleanings, and Cassie has been amazing. I have actually looked forward to my appointments because she makes it fun and does a great job and again, explains everything. I’m so glad I found this place… definitely 10/10 for everything!

Negative experience: Their Accounting office is awful!!! They told my cleaning was covered then they called me a month later, said my account was in collections!!! Without sending me a bill! They told me they were behind in billing.!!! Still waiting on a bill/statement called and emailed several times.

Negative experience: The below review is from my wife and her experience. "I had my first appointment at Hickory Common Dentistry as a new patient and my experience was extremely disappointing. I arrived 15 minutes early for my 8 AM appointment, but found the office empty while the staff were in the kitchen, laughing and having fun. Despite calling the office from within the office, no one answered. The staff finally came out at 8 AM and started reviewing my form, only to tell me that my insurance number was incorrect. I promptly contacted my old dentist to send over my file, which included all necessary insurance information and recent X-rays. However, the staff at Hickory Common Dentistry didn't bother checking the file and instead insisted I call my insurance to confirm the information. By the time I provided the information, it was 10 minutes past 8 AM. At this point, they informed me that they couldn't see me because it wouldn't be fair to other waiting patients and canceled my appointment. Overall, I found the service and staff at Hickory Common Dentistry to be very unprofessional and unpleasant. I would not recommend this dentistry to others

Was told they will take my $300 for images but can’t guarantee to help even when i called 2 weeks ago and told them my problem! Surprised they are actually still in business! Find a practice that actually cares about the patient instead of their pockets!

Negative experience: Professional and clean atmosphere. However, I went in for a standard cleaning covered by my insurance and encountered up sales throughout the process. $25 for cancer screening, $38 for fluoride treatment, Invisalign teeth straightening sales pitch and an additional $100+ for non-standard cleaning. I stated, I only wanted my six month cleaning included in my standard dental plan. They refused to provide the cleaning and said that I would need to pay extra for the non-standard cleaning or find another dentist.

Fantastic experience: Cassie is the best hygienist I’ve had at a dental practice. She and Dr. Stark are both kind and professional, as are the office staff. Five stars.

Negative experience: Bettina Civil is the worst office manager of all time. I’ve been coming to this practice with my daughters for over 4 years. You could get better customer service at McDonalds. She called me to reschedule my appointment made 6 months ago and when i showed up at the new time i was told i was late and would not be seen! She asked me to leave the premises and hid in her office without looking for any resolution. Disgusting!

Negative experience: I have seen more dentists come and go from here in the last 4 years than to be able to say it was a coincidence. If thats not telling you something then I’m not sure what will. After being seen by yet another brand new dentist after my other one left just 2 weeks after meeting her they tell me they don’t accept my insurance anymore. Mind you I paid my portion of expenses and these absolute thieves have the audacity to send me a bill. To top it all off the first dentist I saw here four years ago tried telling me I had a bunch of cavities when I didn’t and the office tried to go along with it. Not to mention how rude and condescending most of the front office staff are. Truly remarkable
