Fantastic experience: Great dentist. Really cares about the patient and their comfort. I had a cavity way in the back! He fixed it with minimal to almost nonexistent pain. He numbed me just right. Two hours later I was eating a sandwich! No jaw pain at all. The staff there is great. All super friendly and easy to talk to. Highly recommend this DDS!!

Fantastic experience: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best dentist ever! I went in for a crown and, because my teeth are extremely sensitive, he numbed my jaw nerve so thoroughly that I couldn’t feel a thing. It made the whole procedure completely painless and stress-free. He is incredibly kind, patient, and professional. I can’t recommend him enough, truly an awesome doctor!

Negative experience: Hi, I just wanted to follow up regarding my visit. I had two permanent caps placed a little over a year ago, and one recently came off. The cap wasn’t damaged, and the dentist simply cemented it back on — the whole process took about five minutes. I was charged about $160 even after insurance covered 50% (so the total was around $320). Also, although the office has a $50 late fee policy for patients, I waited about 20 minutes past my scheduled time but was told the doctor couldn’t be disturbed. I’d really appreciate it if someone could review these charges, as the situation felt a bit unfair. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: 2025 7/8/25 absolutely the best care as usual. Always come from my appointment feeling like I have received the absolute best treatment available ….. because I have! I am no longer working in the New Haven area and it takes an hour plus one way to get to Dr. Mal and it is well worth it. Looking forward to many more years of great care. 2021 As an update to my review of last year…. Nothing has changed. I have been in the care of Dr. Malinconico for at least 15 years and very happy about it. He is undoubtedly the most gentle dentist I have been to. He is technically astute and has an excellent chair side manner. All of his staff including Karen, Denisa and all are very professional and provide the best care. 2020 As usual the service and care is second to none.

Dr. Malinconico also has my daughter as a patient since she was little girl and she is now 27 and he was able make her feel comfortable and at ease with going to dentist with no fear and no medications before visits.

Negative experience: Had an incredibly rude and aggressive experience with one of the receptionists while trying to reschedule my appointment. Rescheduling was very difficult and uncomfortable, so I attempted to politely schedule with a different clinic, only for the receptionist to blame me saying I needed to broaden my availability which then resulted in the same few available slots. She seemed exasperated and frustrated from the beginning of the call and said “well, I don’t know what to tell you.” I again politely said I would be happy to schedule with a different office. She was curt, short and hung up the phone. Disappointing because I heard great things about Doctor Malinconico’s office but after that interaction (again it was only one of the receptionists) I will be looking elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to Doctor Malincolinco's office since I was 8. I am 33 now and have never had a bad experience. I have never been told I need any extra services that are costly, and I have never been pushed a product I didn't need just to make a sale. Every time I go into this office I have a pleasant experience and I am more than comfortable every time I sit in the chair to have work done. From simple check ups to cavity fillings, I have always felt as though I am in good hands. I hear a lot of horror stories about dentists, and I'm lucky enough to say that has never been a personal experience of mine through this practice. Would recommend this office to anyone.

Negative experience: Cleanings and fillings have been fine. Giving 2 stars because of a surprise bill. I have insurance through my university and a preventative x-ray should have been covered. I confirmed that the office takes the insurance, and I assumed that meant they would be familiar with it. Turns out they didn't know that my insurance was on an academic calendar instead of the calendar year. This meant my x-ray from my spring visit took me over the amount covered by my insurance, and now I need to pay the difference. I would have hoped that Dr. Malinconico's office would have made me aware in advance, so that I could have postponed the x-ray until the fall, when it would have been covered.

Fantastic experience: This dentist is very good excellent and super thorough and very clean and up-to-date he is an older dentist which means has plenty of experience to fix your teeth also he keeps up to date with all the newest procedures. My previous dentist was divine smile New Haven and the dentist originally there was Dr spatz which I was very happy with but then he retired and sold the business to these kids that lack all the experience and knowledge. But after going to this new place for me it's like night and day

Of the providers I researched when I first moved to NHV they were the only office that wanted to make sure they could correct my issue prior to sorting out insurance, and this experience has been consistent in my year + of being their patient. I don't have typical dental issues at this point...and the work on my teeth involving crowns, implants, and an unusual bite requires that Dr. Steve be very knowledgeable, familiar with a variety of current materials, have the ability to utilize state of the art tools and be flexible in his approach. He does all that and more! I highly recommend the doctor and his staff as they kindly and adeptly take care of your oral health...giving you greatly improved dental function and aesthetics. Fantastic experience: I was desperate for any relief when I had my first visit earlier this week. I was having extremely painful tooth sensitivity that began causing my jaw to also hurt. I couldn’t find relief and it was causing me to not sleep. In fact, I had seen two other dentists for this same issue and each time I was told “the X-ray looked good and nothing is wrong, just use sensodyne and it will go away”. Dr. Malinconico did his own exam and listened to my concerns. He then put together a plan to help see what could be causing my issue. Since he worked on my tooth yesterday I have had zero pain and Infinally feel like myself again. I cannot be more grateful. Plus, it was the most pleasant dental visit I’ve ever had. In the past, dentists have been aggressive and it’s been painful. I had zero discomfort or pain during the procedure with Dr. Malinconico. I cannot thank him and his office enough.
