Fantastic experience: As someone visiting a dentist in another country for the first time, I was honestly a bit nervous, but from the moment I walked in, I felt completely comfortable and at ease. It was actually the first time I’ve ever had a cleaning with absolutely no pain at all! A special thank you to Elizabeth, who was incredibly kind and welcoming ☺️ She really took the time to listen to me, gave helpful advice, and made sure I felt comfortable throughout the entire visit. Overall, it was a very positive experience, and I would highly recommend this practice to anyone looking for professional and compassionate dental care.

Negative experience: Five stars to the front desk lady in the inner most corner. She’s an angel to solve every problem of this dental group. But the dentist named Mohammad (?) and his team on a Thursday were treating patients like pigs to make money and prescribed patients antibiotics they were allergic to that threaten patients safety.

Negative experience: The actual time with Dr. Mir was fantastic. He was kind and reassuring. His assistant, Prince, was very caring and attentive to my mom and patient with her hearing impairment and mobility issues. As for trying to schedule the appointment, it was a nightmare. There was a lack of follow up from my initial call. Records had to be sent twice because they could not locate them. And then the day of the visit, Prince had to approach the front desk to ask for the referral, which was not in the system with the rest of the information. Then while sitting in the waiting room, another dentist or worker came out and was talking to a patient in detail about his financial options and treatment plan, which I believe is a breach of HIPPA. I was very uncomfortable. Then, upon leaving, I was asked to pay the bill upfront. None of this had been explained to me when I finally was able to make the appointment. I had called the insurance company and made sure the doctor was in-network myself. When they called to confirm the appointment, they only told me there was a $50 deposit needed to secure the appointment. None of the financial expectations were explained to me. This is one of the worst office administrations I have ever seen. I called regarding the status of the claim at the insurance company and I was looking for my refund. They said they would look into it and get back to me. Weeks passed and I still did not heard anything from them. I finally called AGAIN about my refund. The manager answered and apologized she had never heard about the problem. The credit had been sitting there! Then she assured me the $500+ that I paid would be refunded to my card. I asked that they refund by check because I paid the card balance off as I do all the time. She assured me she would handle it. Well, it was still refunded to my card. Now I have a huge credit on my card and not the refund by check. I am more than exasperated. At least they're consistent with one thing...Poor customer service! Stay away!

Fantastic experience: I am grateful to be a patient at New Haven dental. They have always been professional and have a warm way of interacting with you. There appointments always run smoothly. I’m in and out without a hitch. They are also good clinicians. They give really great input on your oral care and appear very knowledgeable. I also like that they are interconnected with the endodontist in the building so that you can get quick referrals. I’ve only worked with Dr. kern and Dr. Gargi but both are really great. I enjoy how personable and thorough Dr. Gargi is.

Negative experience: Both the dentist and the assistant are great. But price is not reasonable. Charged me $450 for a simple filling about the a quarter size of rice grain. Read online fillings usually cost about 150-250. Not cost friendly to patients with no insurance.

Fantastic experience: I had my teeth cleaned there and had a really good experience. There was no bleeding and no pain, and my teeth felt incredibly clean afterward. It was clear that she is very experienced and knows exactly what she is doing.

Fantastic experience: I’ve only been there once, but I will gladly be going back! Nothing but love from the receptionists, assistants, and the doctor. Dr. Kern is one of the best dentists I have seen (I’ve had to see 4 in the past 12 months) and I appreciated her time and thoughtful comments about my situation. They were also very accommodating, and got me in 3 days after I called. Even better, they had an opening for dental surgery 2 days after my appointment!

Fantastic experience: Elizabeth is the best hygienist I’ve ever had! She’s incredibly friendly, thorough, and professional with cleanings. She also took the time to give me helpful tips on proper brushing and flossing techniques. I had a wonderful experience and highly recommend her!

Negative experience: I've been going to New Haven Dental Group for years and love Liz! She is the best hygienist and somehow remembers small personal details about me. Unfortunately, I will not be coming back after speaking with a receptionist today. I have never been met with such hostility over confirming my appointment and insurance. I would suggest reassessing who speaks to patients unless you are willing to lose more loyal clients.

Negative experience: I am losing a tooth due to New Haven Dental Group’s neglect. I went here with the beginning stages of tooth resorption and they said nothing, despite my current dentist saying it was visible on the x-rays NHDG took. Now my tooth is beyond repair and I have to spend thousands of dollars to have it extracted and replaced. Wish I had never gone here, I might have been able to keep all my teeth.

Fantastic experience: This was our first visit and it was wonderful. The office is clean and modern, the staff is friendly and efficient and my hygienist was great. She was thorough and explained everything clearly.

Negative experience: I was told that the crown they put in my mouth was not done correctly and therefore it needed to be redone. Frustratingly they expected me to pay another $250 for the lab fee, even though it was made clear that the mistake was on their behalf. Will not be going back.

Fantastic experience: I had an amazing experience with a very caring and patient hygienist. She made sure I was comfortable and explained everything very thoroughly!! I look forward to seeing Suly for my next visit

Negative experience: I was told they offered payment plans, called to confirm as I did not have the full amount for my treatment, and was then told oayment plans were NOT offered and charged $75 for canceling a $1,000 appointment. Beyond furious and frustrated.

Fantastic experience: I have never felt so taken care of at the dentist. It was a little odd at first because the office door was locked, apparently because everyone was out for lunch, but there was no sign informing us of that, so a small group of us were cramped in this little waiting area front of the elevator unsure of what was happening. Once the door was unlocked though, everything was a breeze. My hygienist and the doctor (I wish I could remember their names) were incredibly thoughtful and explained things clearly. I have never had a dentist who actually talked me through what they were seeing as they worked, and who gave me options as to how I’d like to move forward. Their payment options for new patients was also very affordable. Cannot recommend this place enough. I will definitely be going back.

Fantastic experience: Liz, “my” hygienist for many years, always puts me at ease. She is as gentle as she is thorough. I would wait 12 months for an appointment with her. The office was quiet and clean. My only disappointment was that there were no more Far Side comics or books, but alas things are bound to keep changing!! Great job; THANK YOU!

Negative experience: I came in on May 9th for a tooth filling, and it’s been over a month, but the tooth still hurts when I eat. I called the clinic to ask for a quick check-up to see what might be wrong, but I was told I’d need to schedule a separate appointment — in about a month. I don’t understand why it’s not possible to find just a few minutes to take a quick look at the tooth and determine whether a full appointment is even necessary. I would have appreciated a bit more flexibility and responsiveness, especially when it comes to follow-up care.

Negative experience: I would not recommend this place. A filling they placed fell out within a year - which already says so much about professional capacity - and when I reached out for assistance for an urgent repair, I was told there were no appointments available for a month. The only advice offered was to call other dentists in town and take painkillers in the meantime.

Fantastic experience: Had a great experience at the office! Carissa did my cleaning on Friday and was incredibly thorough. She took the time to explain how oral health is connected to overall health—I had no idea bacteria in the mouth could be linked to systemic diseases. I’m definitely flossing more now!

Negative experience: My first visit with New Haven Dental Group - New Haven was extremely pleasant. However, I regret to say the second visit was quite the contrary and I will not be returning. I was asked if I had any questions before a cleaning, and politely relayed to the hygienist, Carissa, that some of my teeth were sensitive and that I would strongly appreciate a gentle touch. Instead of simply accommodating my request, I was met with a passive-aggressive, hostile series of questioning about my current oral health habits. I could not get a word in, I was spoken over. Before even looking inside of my mouth, I was also told that my chart indicated that I was at risk of gum disease and that I needed to get my wisdom teeth removed as there was a lot of bacteria: two pieces of information that the staff did not tell me at my previous visit when I was told everything was fine. I later requested the dentist and was told the hygienist and dentist that examined my teeth last time were "newer," "less experienced" and no longer worked there. So, there's one concern. Lack of experienced staff and delivering conflicting, inconsistent information about the state of the patient's oral health. Personally, this has made the clinic less credible to me. Second, when the hygienist was poking around my mouth to examine the state of my teeth, I expressed at one point I was feeling pain. There was no acknowledgement nor apology. Third, while I have a strong appreciation for the staff's desire to educate clients, I was not a fan of their alarmist approach. I was told that if I don't get my wisdom teeth pulled out I will get cancer and Alzheimer's disease. Not very professional, nor comforting to a patient to say the least. To conclude this experience, I ultimately was turned away from the cleaning because my gum pockets were in such bad shape and that I would even need to see a periodontist or get my wisdom teeth pulled out in order to proceed. I have never been turned away from a cleaning before. I don't doubt that there are some concerns with my oral health, but I will certainly be getting a second opinion before taking the recommended drastic measures. Needless to say, I will be addressing any conditions I may have with another clinic following this disappointing ordeal. The point of my feedback here is that I truly hope the staff will be more mindful, considerate and compassionate with a patient's unique needs.

Negative experience: Superb dental clinical team. This older woman in the billing department needs to be humbled. I was treated poorly and for a lack of better terms, held hostage until I came up for the money for my co pay which was clearly a surprise to me. I did not feel was treated with respect just a number.

Fantastic experience: Loved my experience! I’ve been going here for over two years now. I always used to dread going to the dentist but not anymore. I’ve had two different dental hygienist and both were incredible! I thought it was just the one but on Tuesday I had a new hygienist and I learned that it is this dental office that prioritizes care and communication. I’ve never had a hygienist and doctor explain everything in detail that they were doing so I left understanding so much. I also received amazing advice to help care for my teeth at home.

Negative experience: I came in asking for a cleaning and they gave me a debridement without asking me, telling me what they were doing, or telling me how much it would cost. this is not ethical and a patient has the right to informed consent. it is bordering on illegal to do this. The hygienist was extremely rough with me the whole time and also sprayed water all over my face and shirt, and didn't adjust it even when I said something about it at which point I just said it's fine. when I canceled my appointment in person a hygienist made an ableist remark which was none of her business about why didn't I book my ride later if I was in pain? That's when I decided to switch practices. the receptionist talked openly about felony pill taking in front of patients the whole time (taking controlled substance prescriptions that don't belong to her and her boyfriend), then they sent me a bill for almost $300 even though I have full insurance coverage and had the receptionist call Liberty Dental to make sure I had enough to cover the services, and said before any services that I wouldn't be able to pay anything out of pocket and I want to make sure everything is fully covered before I have anything done, to which she made sure it was fully covered. now, I am looking at a lot of other people's reviews and seeing that they also received a bill for hundreds of dollars even though they didn't owe any money! they also charged me $25 on the bill as a late fee even though the bill was printed on the 8th of this month and I received it a day before in the mail. extortionists. they should really be closed down. My insurance company called them and they told them they quote made a mistake.

Negative experience: It took almost 2 months for my daughter to be seen by an oral surgeon. The day of the procedure, she could not be sedated because the dr. who originally saw her was not there and we were told he was the only one who could prescribe the sedation. This, despite the fact that prior to her procedure when I called to confirm the time and spoke to the office when they asked if she would want to be sedated. To compound that; you sent her prescription to the wrong pharmacy. She told you which pharmacy and you’ve given her a prescription before. Why did you send it to a different pharmacy? So she’s in pain from an extracted tooth and has no medication. Unbelievable!

Negative experience: I’ve been a client for 15 years and this place has really gone downhill in recent years. The level of care is poor, the front desk is unhelpful, and the facilities look dilapidated and dirty. I’m looking for a new dentist.

Negative experience: Don't book online. I tried to get in for a cleaning, as I work out of the state for weeks at a time and don't always know my schedule with much advance notice, and I couldn't get into my normal location. I was told I was sent a cancellation but never received it, that they had cancelled because they go to lunch at the time I selected. Perhaps block out the time on the software to not let patients book appts at that time then or make a phone call and make sure the patient is informed. The reception was not very nice or accommodating, just a half-hearted apology after offering me a 4 o'clock appt that I couldn't make, not to mention, I already drove all the way there and paid for parking once. If the operations for booking an appt is inept and the front reception doesn't provide much for customer service, I cannot expect the rest of the service to be much better. I will be booking elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: I got all four of my wisdom teeth taken out today by Dr. Mir and his assistant Stephany. I got an appointment within a week of calling. I was very nervous because I have a connective tissue disorder called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and we are known to metabolize anesthetic faster. Dr. Mir was knowledgeable about my condition and made a plan for a different local anesthetic. Both providers were kind and considerate and gave me a signal for if I felt any discomfort. I didn’t feel any pain during the procedure and am in minimal pain afterwards. I am so grateful for this team for their exceptional experience and great work.

Negative experience: New Haven Dental is no longer the same place. Zero reception. The person meant to greet you does not. She sat there with her coat on & let me know immediately she didn’t want to be there & certainly wasn’t going to do anything. The hygienist was running late- not a problem- the problem is the office staff. Say something! A little customer service could go a long way. Another office staff member insisted I owed $. I had THEIR billing statement. With me indicating full payment was made at time of service on 11/7/24. I was then asked to pay a 30O+ balance that Delta Dental has paid. This was their 2nd attempt to collect what I didn’t owe. At the 11/7 visit a person who identified herself as Dr. Mirs assistant told me to pay-up NOW after I was prepped to have tooth removed. I told this very rude “assistant” to take everything out/off as I planned to leave. At that moment Dory rushed in, apologized, and said the insurance would most likely pay. I’m STILL waiting for an apology from Dr. Mir & his special assistant. We have been patients for 20+ years. I am looking for a new dental practice asap. The hygienist today was wonderful. She did a great job. I was not happy with front desk customer service..because none was provided. Your reply appears to be a generic response to anyone who posts a review. PLEASE NOTE I WILL NOT BE CALLING YOUR OFFICE SO YOU CAN "HELP ME OUT" whatever that means. Anyone reading reviews should know that I have not heard from New Haven Dental directly and their canned response will not change my mind about finding a new dental practice. This response is as poor as the service received in their New Haven office.

Negative experience: Highly urge anyone to reconsider visiting this office. While dr kern is a great dentist, the front office is completely uninterested in helping patients. The ortho disappeared without notice and now they are only available every other Wednesday. You can only see your doctor twice a month and if there is an emergency no one will contact you. Don’t even get me started on the predatory billing practices. STAY AWAY.

Negative experience: I would give 0 starts if possible. Terrible front office. I went to this clinic for 3 years. During this time my dentist was changed without letting me know in advance. My second dentist was supposed to give me a crown but cancelled my appointment 3 times (same day). Although I had let the front office know that I was leaving for an extended absence of 4 months and would have preferred to see another dentist if my dentist was unavailable to do the crown in time they were unwilling to help and communicate my dentist’s problem to me. I ended up getting the crown last minute at a different clinic. I just decided to quit this practice for good (with my entire family): I called this morning to cancel my son’s cleaning appointment (for the same day) and was told I would have to pay $25 because I did not let them know in advance. It is a Monday, I tried calling them on Saturday and I was in a holding loup for over 15 minutes, after which I decided to hang up. No possibility to leave a message. The clinic is clean, the care staff is pleasant and it is in a very convenient location but the rudeness and lack of communication skills of their office staff make this place a no go.

Negative experience: I am beyond frustrated with New Haven Dental Group. We had a clear agreement and signed a contract when I began my Invisalign treatment. I paid the full amount within the agreed 12-month period, and yet, I keep receiving bills claiming I still owe money. What exactly is this additional charge? I’ve asked twice already, and each time they dismissively say they’ll ‘look into it’ — yet nothing changes. When I call for clarification, I’m met with rude and unprofessional responses. Does anyone at New Haven Dental Group care enough to give me a straightforward answer about these mysterious charges? I feel misled and deceived, as if I was tricked from the start. This experience has been incredibly disappointing, and it feels like a total scam. Is this really how you treat your patients?

Fantastic experience: They're great over at New Haven Dental Group kind, patient, and understanding. Giving me the confidence to smile again all while helping me with my deep phobia of the dentist. They do amazing work I'd highly recommend them to anyone. Just wish they accepted the insurance my wife and kids are under.

Negative experience: Dr. Edwards is excellent! Her bedside manner and diligent care are top notch! The hygienists are very friendly and knowledgeable and the admin staff is welcoming. I absolutely recommend! UPDATE: I had not been back to the office since October 2023 because I experienced a panic attack while waiting for a tooth to be removed. Not only did the receptionist try to keep me there when I was going through it but the oral surgeon’s assistant exacerbated the situation by asking if I could “at least” sign a waiver for sedation. There was 0 care given for my state. So I avoided that office but because the dentists there are so excellent I eventually got over my awful service experience and reached back out. Unfortunately I had to cancel my appointment last minute because I was pulled into an important meeting. I was still charged a cancellation fee. I wanted to reschedule and they still charged me. The receptionist, Jackie was rude and they fully lost me as a patient today. Good luck to Dr. Edwards though.

Fantastic experience: Alex my dental hygienist was the highlight of my experience. He was kind and took his time to explain everything to me. I wish I could have him everytime.

Negative experience: Couldn't even make an appointment because the first thing they told me was to find someone else who took both of my insurances... I NEVER said I couldn't pay. They hear Medicaid and they're like NO, there's the door. I just needed my broken tooth fixed and I couldn't even say that...

Fantastic experience: Dr. Kern is the most competent and excellent dentist I have ever met. I went in with a very problematic tooth and she not only assuaged my anxiety, but also described out loud exactly what she was doing during the process (down to the type of drill she was using), which made me feel so safe. Fantastic experience: Dr. Kern and Jessica took x-rays and photos, and performed a comprehensive exam to determine that I was experiencing referred pain from a crack in my lower left wisdom tooth. Both of them were fantastic!!

When I first called, the receptionists/patient coordinators were exceptionally helpful and understanding. At my first appointment, they greeted me warmly and I was introduced to my dentist, who took the time to gather past pertinent medical history and any current concerns I had. The dentist proceeded to outline everything that would be occurring at that appointment, explained how to interpret my X-rays, answered all my questions, and even called in the orthodontist for a brief consultation. Fantastic experience: First review in 2021 The service of the this dental clinic is awesome. The receptionist is very friendly and careful. The hygienist is very professional, and very competent. The doctor is exceptional too. They gave me a lot of treatment suggestions about my bad gum condition and referred me to a periodontist. Really appreciate. BTW, their dental x-ray imaging device is very cool. That jig to hold x-ray imager is a very smart design, and can greatly facilitate the immobilization of the imager in your mouth. update in 2023 I met Dr. Kern today. She did an awesome job in completing a very challenging job. I would say she made impossible possible. Thank you so much Dr. Kern!

Negative experience: Scammers. In person they told me 11 cavities, on the phone confirming my appointment it was 7 and two root canals. They tell me IM coming in for a mouth guard and they’ll tell me how much it is before the appointment. I call to confirm and they say they were never going to tell me how much it is and i need to call my insurance, and also that i can’t get the mouth guard done and that they are doing my fillings that appointment. WHAT?! So unorganized, unprofessional, and unclear

Fantastic experience: I’ve had excellent care from everyone I’ve see here over the years, and Alex is by far the best hygienist I've ever had! The most thorough cleaning possible. He's thorough and very knowledgeable, answers all my questions, kind, and lovely to talk with. I actually look forward to my 6 month appointments! I also have had great experiences with Dr. Kern as my dentist. Highly recommend the duo and the practice!

Fantastic experience: It's hard to find dentist offices that are as kind and friendly as this one is. They gave me a quick appointment and we're able to provide me with comfort that they pain I was feeling was not dental related. I look forward to continuing to get my dental needs addressed by this professional, kind and amazing team. From front desk to doctor eval I was given smiles and welcomes. Fantastic experience: I received amazing care during my appointment. My dental hygienist, Alex, was particularly phenomenal. He explained every step and was extremely knowledgeable. I felt that the medical staff very much cared about their patients! Thank you.

Negative experience: This review is specifically about the Invisalign service at the New Haven location. After 6 months of treatment, I had new attachments added to finish my teeth alignment. However, the dental assistant did it incorrectly and GLUED (maybe MELTED) the Invisalign trays onto my top and bottom teeth, which took upwards of 20 minutes for them to remove. It was traumatic and painful and yet neither the doctor or the assistant were apologetic. I have since transferred to the NHDG Woodbridge location and am *very* happy. Disclaimer: After my recent experience, NHDG requested a review -- but that any negative reviews should be sent to them directly so they can "make it right." I submitted this issue to them directly, and after a week have not received a response.

Fantastic experience: Amazingly wonderful. Dr Edwards performance was very assuring from the first day. Every visit was worked smoothly and every task was accomplished. I want to thank Dr. Edwards assistant for her jolly support in every visit. And of course I walked out with my beautiful partials. Thanks to all . It was a very good experience and the cost was affordable. I was blessed.

Fantastic experience: I've been a patient of a couple of dentists in New Haven Dental Group. I only changed dentist when they move out of the New Haven clinic. I am so glad I'm with Dr. Gargi Bhagavatula now! Everyone takes care of you here. I hope I don't have to change to another dentist again. I am so glad how they are conveniently located in downtown New Haven.
