Fantastic experience: Today, 7/14/26 I called Aspen Dental after being up all nite with tooth pain. When I went to Aspen Dental 3 weeks ago for a check up the dentist informed me of a fractured tooth and it should be taken out. Well I procrastinated because I was terrified. Today when I called they told me to come in. I cannot say enough about Aspen Dental in Hamden. They know me by name and all of the girls are the best!! They made me feel very comfortable and that they would take good care of me which they did! Since I am presently in a wheelchair, they even wheeled me in the front door. Well the dentist and her assistant were wonderful and I am so grateful to all. ❤️

Negative experience: Not at all happy with the lack of paying attention to DETAILS. After my last wisdom tooth extraction which was not with Aspen and the way I was treated I was reassured I would have a better experience. Now they did give me general and the extraction was fast I was told I would get a Narcotic for pain. I went to the pharmacy and all I got was ibuprofen and an Antibiotic IM NOT SUPPOSE TO TAKE. WHAT IS THE POINT OF PUTTING DOWN MY ALLERGIES AND DISCUSSING MY PAIN MANAGEMENT JUST FOR YOU ALL TO IGNORE IT. IF ANYONE HAS RECOMMENDATIONS PLEASE SHARE. MY SISTER WARNED ME ABOUT HER EXPERIENCE IN FLORIDA with ASPEN. I SHOULD'VE LISTENED!

Negative experience: Had severe tooth pain over the weekend and wasn’t able to see my regular dentist. Called aspen dental and the only office they had with availability on a Saturday was located in Hamden, over an hour away from me. I received a text message 10 minutes prior to my appointment time stating they needed to reschedule. When I arrived at my scheduled appointment time, they told me the doctor needed to leave at 1. I explained my situation and just drove an hour - they told me to go to urgent care next door.

Fantastic experience: I really like going to Aspen Dental. Every time I have an appointment they are friendly, efficient, and on time. Overall since my initial visit over a year ago I am very pleased.

Fantastic experience: Everyone in the clinic is soooo kind, from the front desk attendant to the dental techs, hygienists and dentists. A special shout out to the billing specialist Annette who was AMAZING!! Went above and beyond to get me seen the same day for a cleaning, along with a new filling and alignment treatment!!! Truly incredible

Also, the person who did x-rays, whose name I can’t remember was very kind and friendly. Also, working with the financial specialist was very easy and I enjoyed talking with her. Receptionist was fast and courteous. I would highly recommend this practice for your dental needs.

Negative experience: I can see I’m not the only one having this problem. I had an appointment for a cleaning. Apparently, my insurance doesn’t cover that I get they have to be paid. I told them Monday my situation they made me waste an hour driving there for no reason 45 minutes sitting in an office one of their office administrators we’re doing their jobs that would’ve never happened. I didn’t have to waste my time. I get services are not free, but I also had almost $1000 in my pocket. It wasn’t even offered anything or any options. I would never go to this dentist again. I’ll keep my infection and broken teeth. I’ll find the right dentist that’s willing to help people that struggle. Get better at your jobs.

Fantastic experience: Everyone was very understanding and thoroughly explained what they were doing and what I need. It's been quite a while since I've been to the dentist, so I have a lot of catching up to do. I especially appreciate Annette's patience and willingness to work with me in finding a financial situation in regards to paying for what I need done. Thank you all.

Fantastic experience: I would recommend anyone I know to come here. The staff is extremely professional, likable, and friendly. You can tell they prioritize cleanliness because the office and tools are freshly cleaned. The doctors and assistants are also very gentle when working on my teeth and taking x-rays. I absolutely LOVE that fact that they take the time to do consultations and create plans to help me work toward my goals One thing I appreciate the most is how informative the doctors are. Especially, Danajah. She is very well educated and did not hesitate to share her knowledge with me- as well as products that she knows will help improve my health. If It were not for her, I would’ve never known that there are other things going on with my oral health that if not taken care of, could’ve led to some serious issues down the line. Dr. Kim has always been excellent at explaining the procedures and answering my questions. For my very first appointment everybody was super nice and accommodating! I went from not wanting to smile to having a smile, I never thought I could have in just a little over a week! Everybody at that office, the woman that works in billing, the woman at the front desk, the dentist, the techs… Everyone is literally fantastic! I know Aspen Dental has a bad reputation, but this office is top-tier

The staff was courteous and efficient. The process of getting well-fitted dentures is not complicated but it is important. With the use of scanners and several fittings, team members like Shelby, make the process quick and efficient.

Negative experience: Just spent 3 hours at Aspen dental without service I was asking for which was promised when I scheduled it. Last week I was at Dr.Dental office for problem with one sensitive tooth. I got check up and x-rays of whole mouth. Problem was - they don't take my insurance so it I was needed to fine another place. My insurance recommended Aspen dental. I came here this morning, show all paperwork and x-rays from last week. They just ignore it, even after taking with my insurance and did another checking and whole mouth x-rays and changed me $307. After it I was scheduled for 2 more appointments for cleaning because gigienist was not available and went for break. How I suppose to be happy about this "great service"??? I wasted 3 hours of my time just for lot of paperwork....

Negative experience: The receptionists were passive aggressive. The doctors were rough. And they pressured me into trying to get a root canal however I visited my usual dentist two-three weeks prior and they said nothing about needing the sort.

Negative experience: Perhaps the Xray person, dentist, and hygienist are capable, but I think they talked me into having an expensive procedure I didn't need and then the desk lady tried to charge me for additional things I didn't want. First problem - I'm on Medicare, which they don't accept, and United Healthcare, which offers a Dentegra discount at Aspen Dental. The lady at the desk refused to know anything about a discount (even though it’s on their website) and I had to look it up on my phone to show her. Finally, that was approved. The Xray person took 20 Xrays in addition to a full head scan and stuck a camera in my mouth to take photos, which seemed a bit excessive. The dentist (Dr Kim) seemed nice but insisted I needed scaling and root planning. The finance person said that would cost $1542 after the discount. She said it was a one-time procedure and I wouldn’t have to do it again. I was skeptical but made another appointment because the hygienist wasn’t working that day. Supposedly the entire procedure was going to be done in one day, but the hygienist only did the right side of my mouth, and I had to make another appointment for the left half. The desk lady said the entire procedure would cost $1742, which I complained was not the original estimate. They were going to charge me $200 more for an electric toothbrush and a water pick that I didn’t want. I told them to take that off and got the price back to $1542. I paid $730 for that visit. I went back 4 days later to get the left side done. The desk lady said I had to pay $812 up front before the work could be done. I said I’ve always paid for doctor and dentist visits after the work, but she insisted so I paid it. The hygienist did the left side and said I was supposed to come back in 4 months. When I went to schedule the next appointment, the lady said I would have to return every 3 or 4 months and it would cost $413 for each cleaning. I can't afford that and insisted on a 6 month appointment and the regular maintenance cleaning for $223. A week later, I got a bill in the mail for another $148. When I tried to phone the office, I got a voice mail. It’s been several days and no one has called back. I do not intend to pay the bill and I will be canceling the next appointment. Even if the dental care is good, the outrageous charges and customer service is awful. There are 4-5 ladies at the front desk and they mostly stare at their computers and ignore the patients. All those cute motivational signs around the office don’t make up for the fact that, at least at the Hamden, CT office, the practice is run by liars and cheaters.

Fantastic experience: I love the billing process. It was individualized and informative. The representative also made me feel like a valued person by letting the entire office know it was my birthday. That was great. The front desk ladies were great also! The hygienist, NP and doctors were amazing! I’m so happy I was able to start the implant process the same day

Negative experience: Friendly staff very gd doctors on hand gd experience was floored by the price 30k plus the rooms are extremely dirty could lead to infections not good

Fantastic experience: My first visit and it was awesome. Dr. Kim made me feel at ease and explained my treatment plan in detail and it was very easy to understand. Kayla help me with the financial aspect and she was awesome! She explained my opinions and I was very comfortable talking about my finances with her. The whole group is fantastic and I recommend Aspen Dental 110 percent to anyone!

Negative experience: This place is awful they lied to me about what services that were done . Told me it would only cost one prices then submitted more then what I was told. When I received my bill, I called them and they told me it was an error they would correct it .. They never called me back. then the accounting department has been harassing me to pay a bill that I was told was wrong and they would correct it . So I called for the 4th time and found out they never documented any of my calls about how they were going to correct the error . Now I’m left to pay a bill I should never have had in the first place because I would have not gotten the service if I had known it would cost that much . If I could give them zero stars I would I can’t believe they allow there staff to lie just to make money ..

Fantastic experience: Very satisfy, and the way they welcome me in and attended to my questions and situation of my dentures and concerns. Very very professional, and the diagnostic they perform where they’re updated. Equipment was very helpful and let me to choose them to take care of my dentures. Highly recommend them to anyone Who’s seeking a professional and honest opinion. Aspen Dental in HAMDEN is the way to go.

Positive experience: Although the hygienist I had was amazing there were a few things I did not like: when you schedule an appointment it's not for a cleaning immediately so I had to take off additional time of from work for the consultation / x-rays and then a cleaning. Where at a typical dentist office you go in and they do all of this in one shot. Then they charge you for ancillary things that won't get charged at a typical office i.e: cancer screening. I just went to a different dental provider recently and I had a 1 hour appointment: that included the consultation, cleaning, xrays, cancer screening, etc., and had no out of pocket as everything was a part of the routine appointment. So just be aware of the charges and appointments you schedule with them. But the actual hygenist are very skilled and do a great job with the cleaning.

Negative experience: Aspen Dental feels more like a sales operation than a healthcare clinic. They go overboard on minimal findings—telling you that you need expensive “deep cleanings” and extra procedures even when issues are barely present or easily managed with flossing and hygiene. They immediately tried to upsell me with treatments my insurance wouldn’t cover. When I asked for the basic cleaning that is covered by insurance, they refused to do it unless I paid thousands out-of-pocket for their “periodontal treatment plan.” It’s a trap: once they label you with gum disease, they won’t provide standard cleanings anymore. These corporate chains don’t know you—they just know how to maximize billing. Do yourself a favor: go to a small private or family-owned dental office. They care more about patients than profit margins.

Negative experience: I usually don’t leave reviews, but I felt it was important to share my recent experience. I came to Aspen Dental due to increasing tooth pain, hoping for some clarity and relief. They took X-rays, 3D scans, and measured the distance between my teeth but did not provide any treatment or pain relief until August. After the appointment, my pain significantly worsened and became unbearable, which felt like more than just coincidence. I called back the next day, desperate for help, and was told their endodontist wouldn’t be available until the following week but I could come in to have the tooth pulled instead. This felt like a rushed suggestion, especially since a root canal had been mentioned as a possibility the day before.

Negative experience: Very unorganized. Slow. Be prepared to be there for at least 2hrs new patients. Every worker gave a different excuse for wait times. My appointment was July 22, 2025 @10am, I arrived 9:44am. Filled out some new patient papers by 9:57am. Got x-rays @ 10:15am. Got to the back @ 10:27am. Waited until 10:51am for Dr to come in. I, graciously, express my frustration of such wait times and improper communications. No one cared. The Dr. gets the office manager for assistance with exam. The office manager tells me, I could reschedule my cleaning if I am pressed for time. She assures me cleaning will take 10-15min and a consult with her about another 10-15 min. I tell her, "since I am already here and have waited this long, I mind as well just get everything done ", she replies ok. The Dr then walks out without a goodbye, have a nice day, or nice to meet you @ 10:58am. At 11:10 am the hygienist comes in apologizes about the wait time and does a portion of her exam. The hygienist comes back in the room around 11:26am to tell me, "our office manager is with a patient right now but instead of keeping you waiting she'll call you for consultation". I say "ok, how much longer until the cleaning?". She replies "you'll talk about scheduling your cleaning when you consult with the office manager." Confused, I leave out @ 11:31am. No one has reached out to me yet. THE ONLY SERVICES I RECEIVED WAS, AN XRAY & A BILL TO MY INSURANCE! Before anyone ask I have no major issues with my smile or teeth. This was supposed to be a simple routine check up, as a new patient.
