St Louis Hills Dental Group

Negative experience: I have been visiting them since 2014, but the staff has changed, and the service is no longer good. I will be finding a new place to go. The staff is not friendly, and because of their mistake, I had to pay a fee out of pocket even though my insurance should have covered the visit. Be aware that due to their mistakes, you may even be threatened with collections by the staff. They also do not communicate clearly about billing and do a poor job with accounting. I was charged $30 without any explanation, and the issue was sent to collections.

Positive experience: We here in May and June for a check up and to get a tooth fixed cosmetically before my wedding. The staff was nice but there seemed to be turn over/confusion with the dentists. I saw an interim while the original was on vacation, they seemed confused how I got an appointment as a new patient at the time, the next time I saw a completely new dentist to the practice who seemed displeased with the products and organization. I was there for a cosmetic replacement of composite on a canine and she thought it was a cavity so she numbed my mouth. The color she used is way more yellow than all of my teeth and very noticeable to me. I said something at that appointment that I didn’t like the color and she dismissed it and said she was proud of her work. Paid 300 out of pocket. Will probably have to pay to get it the right color since insurance doesn’t cover cosmetic procedures. Overall was okay for routine work.

Negative experience: Front desk staff is extremely rude and uncooperative when inquiring about billing. Passed it off to billing company, who's number is disconnected. Then inquiring what this bill is for, staff gave a different amount (?), and was unwilling to send an itemized statement.

Negative experience: Started here a couple years ago after a bad experience at another office and they were initially very great about my dental anxiety. Unfortunately that staff has all turned over. A couple doctors later and the current guy couldn't be worse about it. Dr was very condescending and disrespectful about my anxiety and got my name wrong numerous times during the visit. My teeth are technically clean, but a lot could be learned about bedside manner.

Positive experience: Lauren was my hygienist and she was wonderful.

Fantastic experience: My daughter and son recently went to this office. So far so good. They both needed work done . Everything was explained well. The receptionist who I spoke with several times was very patient with all my questions. They were able to get in quick . There was not much of a wait either; the office was also very clean . I would definitely recommend this office .

Negative experience: I arrived for a scheduled appointment to find it had been canceled with no notice. I was informed that the cancellation was due to submitting required forms the afternoon before the appointment, which was considered too late. I had confirmed the appointment via a system text message and completed the forms through the provided link, which only stated: “To save time at your visit please complete your forms by accessing the forms link.” There was no indication that late submission would result in cancellation. In person, I was told that the requirement to submit forms two days in advance had been communicated when I initially booked the appointment. However, this was not reiterated in any follow-up messages, and I had booked the appointment a month prior, so I had forgotten that detail. The cancellation policy regarding form submission was not communicated. The staff was incredibly helpful when I first scheduled this appointment, and they may be a lovely office with good care. However a simple update to the text system would have solved this issue and I was disappointed with the in person interaction. So a warning if you book here, make sure you fill out your forms 2 days in advance. (Only hiding appointment times in image because that feels like PII)

Positive experience: My problem is with their billing system. It makes no sense. I will be looking into a company that has a better billing system.

Fantastic experience: The friendliest and most helpful dentist office I have ever been to.

Negative experience: I originally hesitated to leave a negative review, but after 16 months since my last visit and 8 months after fully paying off my balance, I’ve just been hit with a mysterious new charge. This follows a long history of billing issues: being overcharged, billed under the wrong insurance, and ignored for months despite repeated voicemails and requests for clarification. In December, Kellie (the only helpful person I've spoken with, she's great and deserves her own 5 stars) helped me square things up and confirmed my balance was zero at that time. Now, out of nowhere, a new charge has appeared, and even she can't determine when it was added. This level of disorganization is unacceptable

Negative experience: If I could give them negative stars I would. My experience was being led to believe I was being billed in network with my insurance and being billed other wise for a routine cleaning for my children. The office refused to admit they were misleading.

Fantastic experience: After not being to the dentist in an incredibly long time, St. Louis Hills dental was recommended to me by a family member. I, like many other people, find myself feeling anxious about going to the dentist. For fear of procedural pain but also the kind of judgmental discomfort of not keeping up with dental care. I have not found myself up against any kind of discomfort in this office. From the dentist to the receptionist, everyone here is helpful to me as a patient and warm to me as a human.

Fantastic experience: I have had quite a few visits to this office over the past few months and have had a great experience each time. Dr. Wissler is a great doctor, very gentle and keeps you informed on what he is doing and what to expect throughout the visit.

Fantastic experience: This amazing team got me in last minute for a broken tooth. Dr. Whistler was so reassuring, kind and kept me comfortable throughout the process. Mariah and I believe Kate at the front desk were just as kind and made it easy to decide to go there for all of my care.

Positive experience: The hygienist was friendly and efficient. I missed not having a bib over my shirt or goggles.

Negative experience: I started off here before Covid and would say my experience was okay. The staff was nice enough and my teeth got cleaned. Once covid hit, working with this practice has been a nightmare. My appointment was canceled due to a hygienist getting covid.. they called to reschedule. Over the next 1.5 years they kept calling to reschedule. When I finally stood firm on needing a certain day of the week and time, they told me they could not make that happen and that they would call me back with an appointment… fast forward 2.5 years and they FINALLY have an appointment that they could offer me. I had tried other dental places but was wanting something closer to home, so I said why not and scheduled an appointment to see if the disorganization and mayhem were just a result of COVID. I was all ready for my appointment when I got a sketchy voicemail from a blocked number stating my appointment would need to be changed as they no longer had a hygienist working at my scheduled appointment. Needless to say I will never be going back. I have been waiting on them to follow through on any of the appointments I have scheduled for the past 4 years…. I wish I could give zero star rating, poor customer service, sketchy business practices, and bad communication.

Negative experience: I've been a patient since 2012. Up until the practice was sold in 2022, I had no issues. Since it changed hands, it has been a nightmare. There is constant turnover in staff. I've had to contest every bill they've sent me because they have either tried to bill me for visits that I never scheduled, billed for services not provided, or billed my insurance incorrectly. Every few months I get a new random bill showing up, but I only go once a year. Additionally, I've frequently not been able to make an appointment because they don't have a dentist or hygienist. Whoever took over this location needs to find another line of business.

Fantastic experience: I've been going to St. Louis Hills Dental for about 8 years, and I'm satisfied, tho there has been A LOT of staff turnover.

Need to update my review because as an established patient, I have had a hell of a time getting an appointment here. Every single time I make an appointment, it get’s canceled or rescheduled the day of the appointment. How do you figure out you don’t have a dentist for the scheduled appointment ON THE DAY OF THE APPOINTMENT?! As an established patient, they could never get me in for emergencies which led to having me to spend thousands of dollars at urgent dental. This place needs to just give up and close already

Negative experience: No Stars!! This dentist was terrible I don't even see how they are even still open they were no help to me all they did was take a lot of pictures of my mouth and told me I need a fill in and I need a root canal, terrible wouldn't recommend

Fantastic experience: 2024 Update: Building for sale. Excellent dentist and staff, and evening appointments are available. Parking can be tricky, due to traffic on Chippewa.

Negative experience: Seriously, go somewhere else if you value your dental health. This place has been through three separate dentists since I started going there. I finally switched to another dentist when they couldn't get me in for a cleaning due to a lack of hygienists and that was actually pretty fortunate. I always wondered why all of a sudden I had been needing more fillings than I ever have in my life while I was still going to the Hills Dental Group. Turns out they weren't cleaning my back teeth thoroughly on my six month visits. I was also being told I needed a crown, which it turns out I do not need. This place is all bad.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a patient at St. Louis Hills Dental Group for 45 years. My how time flies. The staff has always been fabulous. But I miss Dr Andreas.

Negative experience: I have been a patient here since 2014. When the practice was sold by Dr. Andreas and Dr. Livingston, it went completely down the tubes. I had an appointment in July 2023 and another one in January 2024, both were cancelled by them and no attempt was made to reschedule despite them saying they would reach out. I have lost track of how many dentists have been through there, at least 3 of them. I have found a new dentist. Don't waste your time here.

Negative experience: I have been going here for a few years now with no problems. After covid though this office has gone down hill and fast. They are constantly very 6 months getting new dentists. Right now they don't have a hygienist and my husband was trying to just get a teeth cleaning and they can't make an appointment even just for that. The girl on the phone even said that she wouldn't be offended if we found a new dentist... The writing is on the wall.

Negative experience: Every since Dr. Livingston left this place is so unorganized, admin staffing is lazy. Not so good experience. Will not be going back

Negative experience: Received good service for a year. Switched dental insurance in October. Scheduled a crown using the new insurance, was told it was in plan and would be around $800 with insurance. Procedure went well, then received a claim denial from my insurance. Major procedures on hold for 1 year. $1800 out of pocket, asked to be paid immediately. I understand that I should have been aware that my new dental insurance had a hold on major procedures, but I had been told it was covered and now I am out over $1000 due to ill timing of a much needed procedure. I am very disappointed by this experience but hope that others will learn that this can easily happen to them.

Fantastic experience: This is my first time writing a review, but felt compelled after my experience with St. Louis Hills Dentistry and Dr. Clark. About a year ago before I was a patient here, I had some “elective” dental work done to fill some tooth imperfections at another dentist I had been going to for years. The initial procedure left me with pain and sensitivity that would not subside. After several follow up visits and “redos,” I was basically told it was going be as good as it was going to get. A year in dealing with the pain, I was ready for a second opinion. That’s when I found Dr. Clark and made an appointment. After explaining the situation, he was very thorough in his examination and imaging prior to explaining his recommended treatment. Turned out the bad work actually lead to an infection which exacerbated the tooth pain and even caused the tooth to shift. It took two visits and some antibiotics, but the results have been remarkable. No more infection and the pain is virtually gone now. Needless to say, I’ll be moving dentists to St. Louis Hills and Dr. Clark!

Fantastic experience: Amanda always does a great job of cleaning my teeth every six months, and this time was no exception. She and Dr. Clark found a small crack in one of my teeth next to an old filling. In my appointment just a couple of weeks later, Dr. Clark removed the old filling and put in a new one in record time. I'm very happy with the care I receive from both of them. Azra is also very good. She helped Dr. Clark put in the new filling. She explained everything ahead of time.

Fantastic experience: The St.Louis Hills Dental Group is one of the best dental offices around. I had the pleasure of having Dr. Clark work on my teeth and he was very professional. He took the time to answer all of my questions and provided the necessary information before doing any procedures. He is a very knowledgeable and honest dentist. Furthermore, dental hygienists and receptionists are amazing. They are very friendly and willing to go the extra mile. They checked in on me often and made sure that I was comfortable. Overall it was a great experience and I recommend this dental group to anyone that is looking for a new dentist.

Fantastic experience: I visited this dental practice yesterday for my first time as a new patient. I had to leave my previous dentist because they stopped accepting my Medicare Advantage dental coverage. In a search for a new provider, I personally visited the St. Louis Hills Dental Group after seeing their office and sign on the 6900 block of Chippewa. My insurance was setting up a new plan and so was very difficult to reach by phone to determine my eligibility. The office staff at St. Louis Hills Dental Group was very patient and, over a period of days, took turns waiting on hold until they could verify my coverage. They phoned me on an evening a few days later and set up a first appointment for me. The facility was sparkling and modern. They patiently helped me fill out necessary paperwork and made me feel welcome. X-rays were taken by Lista, a competent and friendly staff member. Dr. Kendra Thomas did a thorough examination, and gave useful advice about my dental health. Unexpectedly she complemented me on the quality of my personal dental care. I usually expect a little scolding for my neglect. I was pleased with this interaction and felt motivated to do a better job in the future. Amanda got right to work with my cleaning. She was most professional and thorough. I had the sense that she was extremely competent and detail-oriented. I think it is the most thorough cleaning that I have had in five years. I would definitely recommend this dental practice to anyone.
