Fantastic experience: Honestly I️ was dreading going to a new dentist ( since my move) because I️ find being at the dentist is a very stressful and vulnerable situation. I️ initially contacted sunshine dental because I️ had cracked a tooth. I️ was able to get in quickly with them for an appointment. I️ went in not expecting to much but was very surprised with my overall care there. They are extremely warm and have wonderful patient relationships. Dr Chien is kind and gentle when working on his patients explaining the whys of certain care plans he develops. I love he also listens to concerns and addresses them appropriately. Allie has been the assistant with all my appointments so far and is such a gem in making sure all my needs in being comfortable there are meet. With is huge when you are at a dentist appointment. Frankly most people do not like being G at dentist appointments but when you are made more comfortable it truly makes the experience 10x better since you can be more relaxed. I️ am so thankful I️ found them as my dental care team!!!!!!!

Fantastic experience: Both my children have been coming here for their dental checkups for the last three years and now their braces. I absolutely love the service they get here. The front staff are always smiling and friendly; never treated like we’re just another patient in the assembly line. My kids are almost always seen at their exact appointment time, never waiting more than a minute or two, and many times a few minutes early which is great for our busy afternoons. Service is friendly, thorough, and timely and their office is always clean and inviting. Dr. Chien has the exact temperament of someone you want to take care of your smile- calm, polite, and very informative on progress and process. I recommend this office to any and everyone!

Negative experience: Imy view haschanged. I have a simple straight forward requirement for an extraction (confirmed by another DDS on the East Coast) but for one reason or another he is suddenly reluctant to address it without first redirecting it to an endodontist. Just Dding additional costs for no justifiable reason.

Fantastic experience: Best dental experience I have always feared the dentist mainly because of feeling embarrassed and guilt because of my dental health. Today I went to Sunshine Dental in Temecula and they turned my frown upside down! Upon entry I was welcomed in by the sweetest receptionist ladies and then kindly greeted and shown around by another staff. The visit was quick — but not rushed. Every member who visited me took their time. They ensured all of my questions and concerns were made aware of and answered/supported. The hygienist and dentist did an amazing job and I did not once feel ashamed of my teeth. I left feeling so hopeful and happy. I cannot wait to come back (yes irk to the dentist!!) Sunshine Dental are literally doing God’s work and I really hope the team get recognition for their continual efforts. The team not only do a great job however they uphold the highest level of quality care, professionalism and respect. Fantastic experience: Mary my hygienist was awesome! She was very patient, helpful, and gave me some amazing tips on flossing & oral health. She was very sensitive with my cleaning and took her time and explained each step. I felt very blessed to have her do my cleaning today. Dr Chin came in afterwards and walk me through my plan and next steps. Front office staff was very professional and helpful as well. I would recommend all of my family & friends to this office! I recently took my son and he was very comfortable with the staff and Dr. Chien I definitely recommend him for kids also. Dr. Chien also gives you appointments you don't have to wait for weeks. I love their service. Another recommendation is the hygienist Victoria. She's the best my in laws and myself love her. She is really gentle and explain while she's doing her work.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been coming for 6 months (thus far), thanks to the reference from my husband, which the VA referred him. He showed Me the excellent work Dr. Chien and his team did in his molar. I remember the first time coming I was so nervous…ok, scared but the ladies were welcoming with a genuine smile and continue to be with every visit. I started with fillings and replacement of old fillings and Dr. Chien was so gentle and patient, explaining every step in detail, asking if I had questions. He even gave my jaw breaks in between drilling and filling to relax my jaw (no dentist, in my past has ever been that considerate to do that). He would apologize if he thought he had me waiting…again something dentist doesn’t do. On another visit I had a cleaning and Victoria (Dental Hygienist) was so gentle, she explained every step in detail, asking me throughout how I was and if I was ok. She answered my questions of what type of toothpaste and mouthwash …even said she would text me what she recommends…and did! Chelsea (Front Desk and Dental Asst.) started my orthodontist work. She told me of wax to use for the wire that was rubbing my inner jaw where I had no tooth and showed me on Amazon what waves I could use. After removing the wax prior to brushing the rubbing kept happening. I made an appt. again to come in (which they are always so accommodating). This time she said she researched on Amazon a cover to go over the wire…and it’s been working ever since! She said I was the first patient she’s had to get that for. Amy (Dental Asst.) is very dental in explains every step in the process when tightening my braces, even selected a better color to better go with 50 and over. She’s very gentle and always for warns me when there’s going to be pressure. At the end of my service she always ask me if anything is rubbing and is very patient when removing what is rubbing, always asking (with a nice genuine tone), “is that better?” I have to of my most recent visit. I went in for my monthly tightening. I felt grinding in my front tooth (which is why I got braces because it was crooked and wavy at the bottom) and another tooth at the bottom. The front took had straightened out pretty good…but when I got in my car I looked in the mirror and it was AMAZING! Dr. Chien and Amy had did it! It wasn’t wavy at the bottom and the bonding was PERFECT! Now I’m happier about having orthodontist work done and not afraid nor nervous to come to the dentist. This dentist office is truly the most professional, accommodating, patient and caring office…. Come and receive the best experience you’ll ever have from a dentist!!

Fantastic experience: The Best! It's hard to find a good, credible, caring, and patient dentist. Until you visit Dr. Chien and his staff. My brother Joe, recommended Dr. Chien to me a years ago, and It was such a great relief to find such an amazing dental group. I use to go to the dentist feeling nervous, now I go in feeling confident, that I know I will be taken care of. Dr. Chien takes the time to explain and answer any questions and/or concerns in great detail, and is not in a rush, which is so important when it comes to the teeth. I have always felt welcomed and taken care of. Chelsea at the front desk, genuinely welcomed me with a warm smile and hospitable demeanor, as I walked in for my 8:00 AM appointment. I enjoy when Victoria takes care of my teeth. I appreciate how well versed and detailed Victoria is when she explains the health of my teeth to me. Victoria is so kind, and very patient in answering my questions and concerns as well. Another reason why I enjoy it when Victoria explains in detail of what she is doing, is that I know exactly what is being done to my teeth at those exact moments. I travel all the way from Anaheim for my dental visits, and it is well worth my commutes.

Negative experience: We are a family with 2 kids and have been clients for 2 years. 1. Every time I was going for cleaning there was a new assistant that was doing the cleaning so painful. I even experienced small bleeding after one time. I brought that to the front desk because the next day my kids should be there for cleaning too. Hopefully, only the doctor must do cleaning for the kids. But after 6 months I saw the same person unfortunately for me it was the same painful experience. 2. My wife installed two implants over there. Shortly after a shift installation, it was bleeding for 4 hours. We had no choice other than to go to the ER. The bill from ER was $2k. When brought that to Doc Chien he replied it's your situation and he's not responsible for that kind of thing. Second, implant production happens somewhere else, not in their office. My wife headed there a couple of times for installation that never happened because the implants had the wrong side. Third, it just appears after the X-ray that implants were installed on the very edge so that work should be redone. 3. Doc denied filing for me but wanted to install an implant instead. I had a work trip scheduled to Europe and did it there. It's been 4 years since then, no issues. 4. We moved from Temecula to Irvine 2 years ago and changed dentists at that time. Yesterday I received a bill from them after not being a customer for 2 years. They don't do any work without upfront payment. How it appears that we owe something they don't know. I was talking with Chelsea and requested to call me back but never received it. Max A.

Fantastic experience: Hands down best dentist and staff of all time. I’ve had so many cavities, fillings, crowns, root canals, and been to many dentists in town and elsewhere. And because of bad experiences I have mega anxiety and almost always have complications that get on dentists nerves. I came to this office with a broken tooth and two teeth next to it that were in bad shape. They got me in asap, we’re kind, caring, and sensitive. I had the best experience I’ve ever had and so far no issues. It’s the most work I’ve ever had done in one appt and the least amount of trouble afterwards so far. Negative experience: An experience no one should experience. Dr Philip Chien can’t even fill a cavity correctly. I was forced to go to a different dentist to get the teeth he filled filed down because they blistered my gums. He has absolutely no bedside manners. This man works on several patients at the same time! Never providing individual attention for more than 5 minutes. When asked a question Dr Chien’s answers were bogus and without eye contact. The clinic operates under Filthy conditions. All they care about is collecting payment even for services not provided. *This clinic’s Name used to be owned by a different dentist in Murrieta Ca. This is how it showed the 5 stars that drew me to it. Please do your research.

Fantastic experience: This was my first visit at Sunshine Dental. Dr. Chien and his staff, were wonderful and answered all my questions. Christy my dental hygienist, did a great job, and made sure I was comfortable for my perio maintenance procedure. I give them a 5 starts across the board!

Negative experience: First time I came in, they did unnecessary services that were not covered by my insurance, costing me hundreds of extra dollars. Second time I came in, they messed up my night guard, and had to redo it. Then they sent me a bill that charged me more than what my insurance invoice showed. I had to call in 3 times and ask my insurance to fax the invoice before the issue was resolved. There won't be a next time. I should have known the hundreds of good reviews on google were suspicious because they have a referral program that rewards patients for leaving (good) reviews.

Negative experience: The teeth cleaning lady was very good. But Dr Chien is horrible. He yells at his employees in front of you. He doesn't apologize when he hurts you. I have anxiety issues bc of my tmj and he has only made it worse. I will no longer be going there. All these years his given me meds for my anxiety and now he won't . What's up with that. I will never recommend this doctor to anyone. He's over priced and doesn't consult his patients on the price.

Positive experience: My family has been coming here for years. Love Dr Chien… he has been wonderful in helping our family. This past time we came the dental hygienist was super nice but a little rough for my wife and my daughter. My daughter still has pain in her gums a day later. This visit there was no dentist in the office which I found weird and a bit off putting since I had not been told he wouldn’t be in. In the future I do not think I would keep an appointment if the dentist was not working unless I was only expecting and needing a cleaning.

Fantastic experience: Several recent visits (new patient exam/cleaning, fillings and mouth guard) for two of my children. Scheduling was simple, online form completion as well. Both kids satisfied with office and clinical experiences. Due to health safety policies related to the pandemic, there is no reception/waiting area, but not a complaint, though. I preferred to wait in the car! Update - June 2022. Reception area is open, masks required. Same excellent customer service and clinical care as with previous visits!

Fantastic experience: Best dentist i have ever been too . My daughter had an emergency root canal and other dentist had us going to a specialist which was thousands of dollars that’s with insurance . Dr Chien does it all and stayed late to take care of my daughter . Plus side was she said it didn’t hurt at all .

I have gotten multiple night guards, my wisdom teeth removed, and semiannual cleanings from them over the years. I hope to continue my patronage for the foreseeable future.

Fantastic experience: Most welcoming and accommodating dentist and staff I’ve ever had the pleasure to experience. Thought I’d be in for a stressful dental check-up and cleaning for myself AND my three children, but Sunshine Dental staff exceeded my expectations. They were extremely helpful, informative, and attentive to ALL of us. My youngest child that came in is 3.5 and they were so patient and great with him. Fantastic experience: Best dentist around. I have been to the dentist in my life perhaps more times than most folks. Not much that hasn't been done. Bridges, crowns, implants, skin grafts, bone grafts, root canals, etc., etc. Dr. Chien talks to his patients in a very "layman" style and makes it so you understand exactly what is going on and what he has planned. His chair side manner and technique are gentle and comforting....eliminating much of the anxieties that come with normal dental visits. I highly recommend his practice.

Another review: I had a filling fall out from a previous dental office, they got me in the very next day. I was greeted by my first name, they asked about my kids and I was in the back in minutes. The staff was amazing, as usual. The replacement was quick and actually painless! They asked about my comfort several times. I was in and out in less than 40 minutes. I can’t rave enough about them!

Fantastic experience: Great front office team from meet and greet, checking in & confirming finance/insurance info, etc. Very professional, nice assistants making the preparation for dental work calming. The front office team & assistants keep a good system and flow for Dr Chien to focus on getting work done. It was amazing with Dr Chien (& assistants) from examination, suggesting options of priority with dental work, dealing with insurance processing, actual dental work and final exam.
