Positive experience: I have had nothing but great experiences here until today. A dental hygienist who is a temp did my cleaning. In 51 years, I have never had such a horrible experience getting my teeth cleaned. I am just glad she is a temp, and I never have to see her again.

Negative experience: First , off I would like to say that Dr. Kumar is a lovely dentist. I feel she’s knowledgeable and cares about her patients and fully invested with the care of their oral health. Now, the receptionist and their billing practices is another story. I was told after receiving my first cleaning of the year that I incurred a balance due to an oral exam. I received no exam and no X-rays. Another receptionist asked did I see the doctor? If so, that was the exam. Now if I’m correct don’t everyone see the doctor after the hygienist clean your teeth? I was also charged for fluoride which if I’m not mistaken is usually what comes with a cleaning. So all in all the Dr. Kumar is excellent but watch the receptionist and how they billing you. I will be taking this up with my insurance company.

Fantastic experience: I am very comfortable with my dentist. She, and her assistants, are professional and caring and take good care of my teeth.

Positive experience: I was a patient of Dr. Barnes, he retired and Dr. Padgett has taken his place. Dr. Padgett and dental hygienist, Glenda were GREAT. My issue was with the receptionist. When we checked out she stated that me and my husband owed 36.00 copay. I explained that we don't have a copay for cleanings. She responded yes you do. So we paid and left. I called BCBS immediately. The representative went above and beyond. She checked our benefits and stated that we didn't owe anything. She also called and spoke to the office. She contacted me back and stated everything was handled and that our money will be refunded. I was waiting for a call from the office, thinking she would apologize. After a few minutes, I called them to confirm that we would be refunded. She was dismissive and unapologetic. If it wasn't for this I would've given them 5 stars.

Negative experience: I don’t typically leave negative reviews, but I felt it was important to share my experience at Mountain Brook Dental in case it helps others. I had a 10:30 a.m. appointment but wasn’t seen until close to 11, which I understand can happen. The hygienist then began an ordinary cleaning but stopped after completing only half of my mouth because it was time for her lunch break. I asked if it were possible for anyone else to finish the cleaning or if I could come back later in the day, but was told neither was an option. Instead, I was asked to come back in two months to finish the cleaning. Even though the delay wasn’t on my end, I was still charged for the visit. While I understand things don’t always run perfectly, my experience was disorganized and disappointing.

Dr Smith removed an old crown and did the work to make a new one today. The equipment there is state of the art… a scanning device meant no gooey impression material in my mouth. Dr Smith is a highly competent dentist. You won’t find a better dentist in my opinion.

Fantastic experience: UPDATE: The implant process is done. Although it’s a long process mine took way too long because I’m a snowbird. Regardless it was worth the wait. As always Dr Smith and the staff are wonderful. At my 2-week checkup we got a good laugh from my senior “brain-fart”. After the implant cap was installed, I couldn’t wear my NTI night guard. It wouldn’t fit over the cap. I asked Dr Smith if he could adjust it. As he starts trying to adjust it he seems to be puzzled by the placement and the impressions on it. Finally he says that it matches the bottom teeth. For 2 weeks, my stupid brain decided it was an upper teeth appliance, when in fact I’ve been wearing it on the lower teeth for 20 years. As embarrassed as I was, we all laughed about it. Dr Smith assured me that things happen. And wished me a Happy Thanksgiving. At least I gave the office something to giggle about that day. Dr Smith and Dr Barnes and the Mountain Brook Dental Care staff make going to the dentist a relatively relaxing event. UPDATE: I’ve started my implant process and can’t believe how smooth the process has been so far. Dr Smith and his assistant are so personable. I feel like I’ve been getting my dental care at MBDC for many years, not a month. All the office staff seem like a family that help each other and look out for each other. I kept postponing finding a dentist since moving here 2 years ago. I continued using my dentist in Michigan when I would go visit my mom. Who to choose? I got a few recommendations but I needed someone who was in my insurance network and was close. Mountain Brook Dental Care met my needs. I was surprised how fast I got an appointment as a new patient. The front desk staff were friendly and professional. At no time did I feel uncomfortable during the teeth cleaning by Julie. She was friendly and explained everything. Dr Leeds is very personable and thorough. She explained the area where I have been more sensitivity. Dr Leeds gave some choices and let me decide. At no time did I feel pressured to choose a certain treatment. I mentioned that I wanted an implant where I had a partial. Within minutes I was getting a 3D scan and Dr Smith, implant specialist, was discussing the procedure with me. I can’t say enough about how happy I am with just one visit. I highly recommend Mountain Brook Dental Center.

I needed to have some bonding repaired to some of my front teeth and was having a hard time finding a dentist who wanted to do repairs rather than replace the whole set. Dr. Roger Smith and his assistant, KB, were so helpful and encouraging in helping me through this process. After we decided what route to take, he spent hours perfecting the procedure. He asked me to return a couple of weeks later just to be sure that my bite was correct and that I was pleased with the results. I give him a 5-star review. They are the best!!!
